[Q] I have both TWRP and CWM recovery on S4 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have stock ROM Android version 4.4.2 and have rooted my device using CF-autoroot, I flashed the img file of CWM 6.0.3.2 using the app Flashify and was then asked "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?" when rebooting to system and answered with "Yes - Disable recovery flash". When the device rebooted I was returned to CWM and everytime I reboot I return to CWM so I flashed TWRP using ODIN, yet when I reboot I return to CWM and can only reach TWRP if I click on Advanced>reboot to recovery.
What should I do?

Flash the whole stock firmware and start from beginning. When you have rooted again, flash cwm or twrp via odin.

^ What he said.
I think you messed up your bootloader. Had a similar issue on an Galaxy S Advance. Flashing a bootloader solved the issue

[Troubleshoot] Unable to into Recovery

Hey Guys,
I just rooted my i9505 via CF-Auto-Root and it worked like a charm. The next thing I did was to flash Philz Recovery, at first it auto reboot and it never went into recovery, so I followed the steps to re-flash it without the auto reboot and force it into recover. It loaded into Philz Recovery perfectly fine, now when I reboot, it gave me the option to disable auto flash recovery, so I selected yes.
After that I was never able to get into Recovery Mode ever again. All it does is says Recovery Booting in the top left corner and then restarts and loads into the OS. I followed the steps again to re-flash Philz with auto reboot unchecked and it still failed to get into recover. I then tried CWM and TWRP (via Odin), but all of these gave me the same problem and failed to get into recover.
I then tried SGS4 Flasher but still the same question.
Anyone here who has this problem before and know the fix or is able to recommend another method?
Was able to fix it. Had to flash the original stock Recovery back on and then re-flash a custom recovery. Not sure what happen but was able to install TWRP on without an issue, maybe something in Philz Recovery that stuffed it up.
OK! Looks like it is not working correctly. For me to get access to a custom recovery, I have to flash the stock recovery via Odin and then flash a custom recovery to get it working EVERYTIME. It will boot into Philz, CWM and TWRP only once, then you need to flash stock recovery and do the process all over again.
So it looks like the recovery gets over written each time even if you select "yes - disable flash recovery" in Philz Recovery. Anyone know of another way to disable flash recovery?

with a root explorer, go to system/recovery-from-boot.p and rename it to recovery-from-boot.p.bak

Thanks for responding samersh. To lessen the pain of constantly flashing the recovery via Odin on my PC, I bought Mobile Odin Pro. However, it looks like when I flashed using Mobile Odin Pro, it fixed my issue.
I checked \System\ and there was no recovery-from-boot.p there. So it is confirmation that this has been fixed. Thanks again for responding.

Replacing CWM With TWRP

I am trying to replace CWM with TWRP but not having any luck. I installed GooManager and used the option to install open recovery script, but I still have CWM. So I downloaded the twrp image and used the terminal method
dd if=/mnt/extSdCard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p34
This completed successfully, but after reboot then reboot into recovery I still have CWM.
I am currently running latest Cyanogenmod Rom.
Why do you want to replace it, anything that TWRP can do better than CWM? If you still want to switch, you should flash TWRP via Odin.
And/or flashing TWRP zip file through CWM recovery
I like the TWRP interface over CWM. I guess I'll try the odin route.
Well I was able to flash a recovery zip file, but now if I attempt to boot into recovery it just stops at the Google Logo (Google edition phone) and I have to pull the battery, boot into download mode and select restart to get out of it.
Just flash the recovery with Odin. Uncheck auto-reboot in Odin. If it doesn't work the first time, flash it 2 times in a row.
I was having a problem with Odin crashing when I attempted to flash. I finally got it working, apparently I had the wrong img file and dd statement. So now everything is working great.
Making Nandroid Backup first thing.

Untick auto reboot. Manually turn off phone after recovery flash. Then use 3 buttons to get into recovery.
If the phone prompts to install stock recovery when you're exiting the custom recovery, choose no(can't remember whether this menu still available in note 3, maybe other phone)
Another way is download cistom flashable twrp then as rosli mentioned to uncheck auto reboot when flashing twrp then once done disconnect and boot to recovery then in recovery flash the flashable twrp

[TWRP] [G900H] Recovery Flash Successful, But Still At Stock Android Recovery

Hi all,
My Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H, I updated it to stock Samsung Android 6.0.1. Now I want to root it. AS I've read in some of the other threads that flashing TWRPand then the latest SuperSU works. I went ahead and flashed TWRP using ODIN. Odin was successful and my phone rebooted and phone is working fine. But when I try to go into recovery, stock Android recovery pops up. I wonder why?? Can anyone point me out?

As rewards hit Thanks
Use twrp 3.0 by fevax i was had same problen but when u flash it reboot to recovery then to systen
I flashed this same recovery earlier. It is not working for me.
It's the same one I flashed earlier. Not working for me. Should I try to reflash the stock firmware and try again??
"flash it reboot to recovery then to system" Important point. This worked. Instead of rebooting directly after flashing. I flashed recovery, then removed battery to turn device off. Then rebooted into recovery. It WORKED.
I think rebooting into system first rewrites TWRP with stock recovery.
