Hi,
I have this app that won't work if you have a custom rom installed. Can someone here that uses stock (preferably not AOSP) 5 or 5.0.2 extract his build.prop file and upload it here? I want to try tricking the app into thinking I have stock rom and see if it will work.
Thank you.
Anyone?

Hi all
I have a Samsung Galaxy mini (S5570L) and I'm trying to edit Phone.apk, I wanna replace the unknown caller picture for the stock android picture, I already managed to do that but I have 2 questions:
1) When I try to replace Phone.apk with the one I edited the phone starts vibrating uncontrollably and I can't seem to be able to do pretty much anything, is there any special treatment when editing system APKs??
2) The stock Samsung ROM is odexed so I know editing and replacing the APK isn't as simple as it sounds, what else do I need to do after zipping the APK in APK Manager??
Thanx for you help
P.S.: This is a wild idea but is there a way to change the TouchWiz Phone.apk for the stock Froyo Phone.apk??

To 2.
It causes issues if u have some odexed and one deodexed apk so u should deodex all apks.
1. Do a logcat to find out what's wrong .
Did u push the file via adb?
And u should sign the apk ...

Thanx man, turns out I needed to deodex the APK before editing (which I didn't know).
I've got another question, since I'm using a stock Samsung ROM should I deodex all the system and framework apps?? 'Cause that sounds like a huge amount of work

I admit I'm new to ROM Modding.. Recently as I experiment with some CM7 based rom.. (etc etc) I noticed that the FM radio application is bad.
1. Seeking Stations usually takes you to the maximum frequency.
2. You cannot save a lot of channels.
and so with my noobish act and stupidity I extract FM.apk from my old 2.3.3 Stock Rom nand backup. The stock FM.apk is awesome.. I mean you can search channels automatically. (unlike CM7 based FM apk's). and there are lot of channels that can be saved.
Problem: The FM.apk from Stock ROM is not installed into CM7 Roms (after normal installation, ROM integration (kitchen))
Is there a way to Port or make it work back at CM7 based Roms.
I tried to dissect the stock app but found no links to files needed.. Like an app need this dot (.) anyfile i.e. libblahblah.blah at blahblah..
Searched lib or any other folders at ROM itself and found nothing but files that notepad cannot read.
For any help I'll upload the apk later for experimentation..
Im looking for the same.. but if we want to make it work..
We need to uninstall cm radio using titanium..
Need to backup the stock fm using titanium.. i think it makes backup of all the
required files like apk.. lib.. bin and framework files.. and then try restoring it on
cm.. dont know if it works!!

> it wont work because of those .pro images if anyone noticed stock rom uses .pro not .png resources, its same as the stock camera app neither of those wont work.
p500 FM radio.apk working on my p690b
Well, just copy a FM radio.apk file from a new p500, then install on my new p690b (optimus net),....and..... it is Working perfectly!!
the only thing is just the headset always on, even you switch to audio output to speaker, then both speaker and headset
will have audio
my Optimus net (p690b) does not come with the stock fm radio.apk, just wondering if anyone has the stock fm radio.apk for
the p690 can post a link?
I know some of the p690 from different carriers, they do have a decent stock fm radio.apk
thanks!!

Here, I've zipped the stock p690 fmradio.apk with odex file too, ripped from v10c. Just unzip, move it to system, set permissions, and voila! Graphically it looks the same as the p500 one.

So that's why.. in cm based roms it dont work.. what we need is or are libs needed by the stock radio.

With logcat, you can figure out if a lib is missing, or needed by an apk. This is how I figured out, which libs were missing from blackbird rom, but needed for camera app from stock p500 rom, to fix focus problems.

Hi all,
I have started porting my Semi-universal battery mods over to the nexus 4 ready for when I get mine. but I was wondering the two following things:
Firstly, to make the battery mods, I need the systemUI,apk to be deodexed, but if I am running a stock Odexed rom, will I still be able to place a deodexed systemUI.apk in the System/app folder and the phone still work?.
And is the a tool which lets me Deodex a single apk file, as all the ones I have found require you to deodex a whole rom.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help
Cheers

You DEODEX through JAVA, Smali and backsmali commands in Command Prompt.
I can answer the 2nd question. Not all deodexed apks can run on an odexed rom. Played around with them before and some do, some don't

I can confirm. Im running an Odexed rom and flashed 3 deodexed apk's today. An accuweather widget, voice mail and a transparent digital clock. All working fine
The OPs question has been misunderstood
The OP's question has been misunderstood. The question was not whether if you can run a deodexed .apk in an odexed ROM. On the contrary, the question was - can you run a odexed apk within a deodexed ROM. I stumbled onto this thread 'cuz I'm in a current situation where I'm asking the same question now.
Although I know the question the OP asks seems as if they're asking if you can place a deodexed apk within a odexed ROM, the overall question is how do you deodex a single apk to begin with?
I'm running a deodexed custom ROM on a Galaxy Note 2, however....virtually all the deodexed ROMs I've installed contain a flaw....the samsungcamera.apk is missing features. However, my default, stock ROM that I restored from my nandroid displays a complete camera full with the features I use regularly. So I was wondering....how do you deodex an apk? In other words, I have currently extracted from the stock ROM the samsungcamera.apk and its accompanying .odex file. Now I would like to join these and create a deodex version of this so I can import it into the custom ROM I'm using.
I believe the question was somewhat answered already on here. I will investigate a little further.
Thanks, guys.
[HOW TO][Windows] Manually Deodex and Odex back
As the thread is a bit "old", I suggest to update the tools in the zip, here you' cuold find the newest.
Hope this helps
Hi guys,
I'm a bit frustrated when I see so few compatible mods for odex roms whereas all are for deodex.
As I want to keep running on odex roms for performance reasons, I'm wondering if it's possible to deodex only some system apps in order to be able to install a deodex mod ?
For example, let's imagine that I deodex Secphone and SecContact, in this case I might be able to install the mod to add the phone conversation recording.
Is it nonsense or is it something possible ?
Thanks very much in advance.

I try to install nba2k14 apk file and this error show. App not installed, any solutions?
It would help to know which ROM you are using. It's an issue that's come up once that I know of in a Lollipop build.
Optimus 1.4.1. Not on lolipop and without custom kernel.
