Hi everyone,
my Note 3 has ever had a great battery life, but all of a sudden the voice "Android System" popped up to top in the battery list, followed by "Screen on" and "Android Operating System", and battery life is ridiculous (the screnshot I attach has 1h 11m of screen on only)
Any ideas?
I have stock Sammy ROM and no root.
Thanks a lot.
as you are on 4.4.2 kitkat. Try using greenify to hibernate your apps. Debloat that TW rom. Disable Google Now. And you should check your device for wakelocks.
Also you can use this guide to fix Google services http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
You should install BBS to check what is actually draining your battery.
I had the same problem as you and tried all the solutions. what worked is to downgrade back to jellybean. hope this helps.

Something's keeping your device awake. I'm assuming you've tried a battery pull?
From the looks of it I'd say Google Play Services is responsible. 20% Android System is completely normal (its battery representation is horrible bugged.). 11% GP services is not.
Google Play Services shouldn't even be in the list, unless you're running Google Play all day.

Hello in the android battery stats, google services always appears as the biggest battery drainer,
however, kept awake time and cpu usage time seems reasonable (cannot possibly account for 60% battery use)
In Gsam battery or better battery stats, there is not sign that a considerable amount of battery is being used by google service.
Altogether, i am still able to reach almost 5 hours of sreen on time over 24 hours (quite reasonable) i would just like to understand if this is bad reading from the android stats app, or if there is actual drain here.
I am currentrly on stock 4.2.2 with franco's latest kernel.
i flashed a clean image of 4.2.2.
google+ and gtalk signed out, report location from device is disabled. auto backup disabled
any advice? anybody with similar issue.

I'm having the similar thing. No idea how to get rid of it. When trying to disable some of the apps (namely Google Services Framework), Play Store keeps fc'ing.

It is likely an actual drain. I would try uninstalling the updates or updating to the latest version.
I am not sure about Stock 4.3 rom but this method definetly solved the issue in CM 11
After updating Google Play Services to 7.0 or even on 6.5 there was severe battery drain due to play services running in background.
When i observed battery Stats for one day, around 70% of battery was draining due to Play Services on Standby mode.
So here is a easy guide to solve the issue for CM 11 :
1. Go to Settings>Privacy>Privacy Guard.
2.Touch on Menu>Advanced.
3.All App ops will be displayed, go to Google Play services.
4.Change the option to Denied for following:
Location>Denied
Wake up>Denied
Keep awake>Denied
5.We can again change the setting to Allow when needed.
Look at the ScreenShot in attachments after I applied these settings.
Now there is only 2% of the battery drain by Play Services.
Please press the thanks button if the info was useful.
Ewww Samsung themed ROM...
Joking bro.
Anyway what you claim does make sense (especially in my eyes) because google related services have a habit of draining battery, commonly by wakelocks, so disabling their wakes would help. I am also on CM11 and am getting battery drain from google services (not google play services) but the same applies as it has kept my device awake for 2hrs + till now.
Hi
I don't know since when, my phone battery starts to drain so quickly. Initially I though is the apps that I installed causing this, but looking into the battery statistics, it is actually google play services, it keeps awake for so long!!
I then did a search on google and found out that it is not a recent problem, and possibly the best (or true) solution is to disable keep awake. Hence I went to "Privacy Guard", found out google play services, and turn off "Keep awake". However it doesn't help!!!
I also installed WakeLock Detector to see which app is waking up the device, and what it is reporting is different to the battery statistic, it reports a communication app that I use, "WeChat", it keeps wake up my phone, but since it is a chatting up, I don't want to disable its function.
Other solution I found is to disable google location history, which I have also done it. I have also installed Amplify from Xposed to try to extend my battery life. GPS is completely turned off.
BUT, all these steps didn't help and the battery statistics still reporting that google play services use a lot of battery and most of the time it keeps awake.
Can someone help me please?
Many thanks!
I am using Carbon ROM with Hell's core kernel, stock settings.
Hey guys,
I've been having an S6 Edge+ for a couple of days already but there seems to be an issue with the ROM. I'm getting a lot of battery drain from the "Android OS" and I'm losing up to 5% - 7% per hour in standby.... I have even re-flashed the entire ROM and factory reset two times... still the same.
I've disabled Google's Location History and Google Now but this did not help...
My previous Galaxy S6 was also running the latest ROM but there were no such problems...
Has anybody else experienced such an issue and do you have any ideas?

Check if any sync is stuck in loop, sometimes this kills battery very easily. If all else fails check with some app like GSam.

Unfortunately GSam does not produce too detailed information without Root access and it only says Android System and lists all the services that are under it...
The interesting part is that after several re-flashes with the same firmware, the wakelock disappeared...
Now I get 76% to 80% deep sleep...
Go figure... Probably some stuck sync as you mentioned...

Ah great... I also had similar issue previously with Calendar sync, couple of flashes and it went. Now happily rooted
Android OS Wakelock killing the battery! ...... solved
OK, im not too savvy with settings and systems, just sharing what i have been through. I too had a major battery drain problem on my S6 Edge+ , giving me abt 8-10hrs of use after a full charge. Even during the nights with everything off and power saving enabled i would lose abt 50-60% battery over 8 hours. ..... caused by Android OS ....... it would keep the screen awake for hours even with the screen off .... ( dont know how that worked) ..... tried a factory reset but didnt help. Then rooted the phone and downloaded wakelock detector and installed it as a system app. Installed greenify and doze ..... last night lost 4% over 11hours with wifi and 4g off and power saving enabled which is a drastic improvement. Facing one little problem that images do not get downloaded (automatically or manually) in whatsapp with wifi in use. Will use the cell for a few days and post again abt how the battery is holding up and if there is any other performance issues.
If you want to save battery, try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
It show all RAM usage of each app, you can disable any app in Bloatware (samsung default app) list to save power
This app run WITHOUT ROOT
I recently switched from Stock Oreo to Lineage Pie. Google play services are consuming about 70% of my battery based on the battery settings info. I am using gapps nano and use AT&T for service. I only use LTE and never use WiFi.
Overnight I used to lose about 3% of my battery. Right now it is closer to 5%. When I use the phone for internet, the battery drops about 1% every 3-4 minutes.
I think the LTE might be connecting/reconnecting a lot and contributing to this issue. I disabled "google" service/app and the wellbeing service/app.
I also tried deleting all data for google play services and rebooting.
Any suggestions?

In 99% that's an issue related to the ROM.
I flashed numerous custom ROMs on several devices and all of them had a bigger battery drain than the stock firmware. I'm losing about 2% over night on rooted stock. There's not much you can do, reflash ROM and Gapps, try another one. Try Universal GMS Doze magisk module, it enables the device to "doze" Google play services.
Have you Better Battery Stats installed?
If not do that and check what wakelocks are exactly causing the drain.
There's a free XDA version:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Most important are the partial wakelocks.

Thanks. I got a battery app and have started monitoring where the usage and wakes are coming from.
I noticed that my phone is never going into "deep doze" Is that normal?

Depends where this information comes from.
Some apps mix it up with "deep sleep", in Better Battery Stats you have that plus "doze interactive" and "doze idle". After a day of normal usage I have 74% of deep sleep and 71% of doze idle mode.
Deep doze is no option there.
