[Q] Galaxy S2 Display...

Hi People,
I have recently got Galaxy S2 and i was comparing it with my older Galaxy S(I-9000)
I was playing same video file in both devices with 0% & 100% brightness.
In my view, Galaxy S was more brighter and natural looking. Where as Galaxy S2 was king of dull. I mean say at 0% brightness, galaxy S was better and same with both the devices were on 100% brightness.
Technically Galaxy S2 screen is better.
Experts - Can anyone of you feel this way? or it is just my observation.
I have also kept the live wall paper "Spring Zen Free" that also was showing better on my galaxy S.
Even in setting screen, white text on black background was looking better in Galaxy S.
Any one has any idea why it is happening like it?
Plz plz comment.
Regards,
Anoop.
My SGS2 better than my SGS1 .

You’ve probably read a little on other reviews about the video playback, it’s uniformly been reported as excellent. It is. In fact I would go so far as to say its peerless in the mobile phone world, and by a large margin (its nearest competitor being original Galaxy S as it happens,

Hello JJE,
Thanks for your quick reply. But could you please tell me that, at 0% brighness of both devices, Galaxy S2 is dull or it is same clear and crisp as Galaxy S?
As i feel it very much that, at 0%, Galaxy S is still brighter than S2.
Is it because they want to increase the battery life?
Kindly revert with your expert comments..
Regards,
Anoop.
Sorry cannot test now sold my SGS1 .

Hi JJE,
One last question on Galaxy S2. on the bottom tray of home screen of Galaxy S2, you will see "Phone" button which is has got a phone icon with Green background.
Do you see some sun rays like texture (diagonal small lines covering green portion) in the green icon? I just want to make sure that, I too have similar texture for that phone button and it is not something defect in the screen. (you might have to look closely)
Similar structure can be seen in "Applications" icon/button on home screen (which is blue in color)
Kindly let me know.

Anoop.
Did you turn the screen power option off? even at 100% brightness, it's not actually at 100% brightness until you turn it off. Also go into the background effect to change the color temp
Play with these settings, it alters the display greatly...
Background effect: Dynamic, Standard, Movie?
Auto adjust screen power: Checked? Unchecked?
Browser brightness: Auto off? Auto on?
Display brightness: Auto off? Auto on?
I have to agree, s 2 is duller than my s (i now have both), maybe a power save feature that you can't turn off ? I've also noticed the yellow tint on s 2, compared to a blue tint on the s, and this can vary depending on what background effect you have selected ! This leads me to believe the colour temp could me changed in software. My itouch has a pinky looking tint compared to either galaxy phone.

Which background setting are you using? Power save feature can be turned off by unticking.
I've sold my sgs too. However there was a week when I had both and I can tell you for certain that the sgsII screen is more natural t in colour then sgs's. Having them both side by side the sgs just looks b l u e. Like really blue.
SgsII screen is the best mobile screen I've used

Yes. Icons look just the way you described. It's normal, it's not a display problem.

[q] amoled burning

So like the title sugests i would like to know if its posible that the note 3 can get burning of the blue subpixels after several months of usage,i want to buy this phone but for me this is a very big drawback beacuse the screen is one of the most important aspects of a smarphone.
My 3 year old SGS has the screen still intact but i can se the pixel degradation but no significant burning just when i put the blue screen i can see a liiitle ghost of the notification bar but very very very dim almost unnoticeable,i have to mention i never used the phone with maximum brightness only in direct sunlight.
I have read some threads about this fact and it seems a general ill amongst the amoled screens so what is the chance i get burning on the note 3?
Thank you!

Of course can't exist experimental proofs because Note 3 just came out but if we look at s4, can be said that it has less problems in comparison with s3. As you know it depends on many things, even your way to use is relevant..but if your GS3 lasted 3 years (or more), I think that there is no reason why a note 3 should be worse, even because Samsung put BIG efforts on those relevant aspects for the customer

The same thing is with my Samsung galaxy S. But as this is 3 years old, it is still very little noticeable (mostly noticeable while white background). I am a big fan of Super AMOLED display of Samsung as it is attractive and looks awesome. I have used my galaxy S2 for more than 2 years and I find no such signs on it. Watch videos on Amoled display and LCD display and you will find a lot of noticeable difference in them, as amoled displays are sweet.
I think it's right choice to buy note3 as 2-3 years will be nice and then the slight change will be there which will be unnoticeable.
If you still are not in favour of note 3, consider buying nexus 5 as it's feature packed and will be the first to receive next android versions.

[Q] galaxy s4 black display issue

I bought galaxy s4 black edition yesterday....the phone is gorgeous i have to say....
But i have noticing a problem with the amoled.... the lower half of the screen appears to be more bright than the upper half and there is a slight "pinkish" tint in the upper half
The problem seems to go away when i increase the brightness but becomes prominent as the brightness decreases.......do i need to worry.?? Is anyone here having the same problem..?? Plz help as i am really confused whether to sell it or not.....plz help...
Why don't u replace ur phone immediately?

yellow tent screen .. white color is more yellowish

I have the note 3 n900 and i notice that the white color on the screen has an obvious yellow tint so i compare it with galaxy tab 2 10 inch and galaxy mega 5.8 inch ... and both devices shows the white color like a normal white not having this yellow tent on white color like my note 3 and the white color is more bright than my note 3 ... and i set the screen mod to dynamic mod cause its the least yellow tint of all other mods like standard or even adaptive mod.. so i don't know ... is it only my device or all note 3 devices are like that and do u compare its screen it with other samsung devicrs

I had a Galaxy S2, had yellowish tint on the display. I am unsure whether it had two variants or not, but I had the one which was officially sold in my country.
I had a Note 2, Exynos, yellowish tint was there but in less extent.
I had an S4, Exynos, there was almost no yellowish tint, at least that's what I can remember.
Now I have a Note 3, I don't have any yellowish tint at all, and I use movie mode. Turning on Adapt display or Dynamic makes the screen irritatingly cool/bluish. Honestly I could not be more happy with a phone's colour reproduction.
However I read a lot, and I saw that a lot of people possessing the Exynos variant, which is yours, are having this problem on GSMArena Note 3 page. You can see for yourself, just go back few pages. I think it has something to do with Exynos models only? Cause I have never heard a person having a Snapdragon variant complaining about this issue.
You can ask Samsung CC to replace the phone, only if you can show them how a display without any tint looks like, cause they are both arrogant and dumb.
Thanks 4 ur reply

Keep in mind that the Tab and Mega are LCD, not AMOLED. LCD has a pale blue hue, whereas AMOLED is much, much more saturated.
You really should compare it to another N900 unit, or an N9005.
As mentioned above, this is a problem that occurs on the Exynos version, but not the Snapdragon.
Thanks

Tab 4 10.1 LCD bleeding

Hi everyone,
I bought tab 4 10.1 couple a days ago, and just saw that my lcd is bleeding. Its visible in dark condision( something like white glow around edges, but mostly above bottom edge) only on black background, and its more visible if brightness is higher (youtube margins, bs player, ets). Does enyone else has this problem? Should i return it? I also saw that many people has this problem on tab pro and note 10.1 2014, and that they changed couple devices but the problem was present on them as well.
Thanks,
Nemanja.
