Hey,
I have a Note 4 N910W8 and I am on YouTube version 10.02.3, and I can only see up to 720p. I have tried many fixes on XDA, like clearing data, downgrading versions, and none of these have worked. Has anyone found a way to fix this w/o a root?
Thanks
Im not rooted. What worked for me: sign out of youtube, go to file manager, force stop youtube, clear cache, clear data, restart youtube, sign in.

I am on youtube version 6.0.13 and I get up to 1440p out of the box on stock.
(Sorry I am on Snapdragon 910F I think)

Try do to it few times. Make sure that video you try to watch has 1080 and 1440 resolutions available. Preferable open video in full screen and check if 1440 is in your menu. Try with and without wifi.

Guys try this:
Clear cache/data/uninstall/reboot/redownload from playstore.
It worked on my non-rooted Note Edge

I also have non-rooted. you cannot fully uninstall an in-device app.

You are correct in saying that you cannot fully uninstall YouTube when non-rotted BUT you must uninstall the UPDATE and return it to 'stock YouTube'. The below instructions will work:
1. Clear Cache
2. Clear Data
3. Uninstall YouTube UPDATE (Non-Rooted devices will uninstall YouTube UPDATE only so that the 'stock' YouTube app is returned to factory default - The Stock app will remain installed which is fine)
4. Reboot Your Device
5. Redownload YouTube from the Playstore (It will say something like INSTALL UPDATE)
6. Open YouTube and search for 1440 videos etc and go to Quality Settings and 1440p will be available.
7. Enjoy
These instructions if followed correctly will 100% work. :good:
No, they won't ... still plays up to 720...

no if i search for youtube it doenst find it
Me too!the youtube had disappeared.

solution is find it with titanium backup, uninstall it, and now you can download it from market
dissapear too google earth, google books, voice and some more and this don't apears on market before uninstalling it, but appears in titanium backup
I tried it for.other apps. Like books and voice recorder but it only worked with youtube?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I only tried with youtube, these other apps I dont will use and dont try with these. and I uninstalled it, these apps appears like youtube app in titanium backup
edit: I tried install google voice and google earth and no problem for me
I had a same problem on my Nexus S, what I did was, I navigated to /system/app/ folder on my phone with ES File Explorer, found the YouTube.apk and reinstalled it from there!
PS. Android Market and my phone showed the application as installed, and all options were greyed out (Open, Install, Uninstall)!
I fixed it with ep file explorer. Fix the youtube app
But still have problems with voice recorder thinkfree office and others that wont install and show up in my menu.

Try downloading an uninstaller app from the market.

What is that? Can you give me a name of one?

I cannot uninstall it with a free app. Google vpice or thinkfree are not even visible.
I can only see these apk files with ep file.explorer

My odd solution:
-Download GApps from Rom Manager...or wherever
-Flash GApps via recovery
-Reboot (Still no YouTube...)
-Go to Market
-Re-install Youtube from Market
When my YouTube "disappeared", it "appeared" in the Market as installed but the Open and Unistall buttons were greyed out. The icon in the drawer and the widget option were both gone.
I don't have that Think Free Office icon either in the apps drawer, but the TFO is installed in my phone. I was little bit confused about that thing, but now I see it's a common issue...?
I find it in xoom forum, thought it might help
If you have had a problem with the missing YouTube and/or Google Books applications, we have a workaround you can try.
Connect to WiFi network. (So far it looks like only WiFi Xooms have had this issue. Let me know if you have this on a Verizon Xoom.)
Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
Go to the "All" tab and then scroll down and select "Google Partner Setup."
Clear Data.
Reboot your Xoom. (That is, turn it off and on.)
If this doesn't work, perform a factory reset (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset) and try the sequence above again.
Please let me know how if this works for you.

Prejudice in this release, 0.0019 google music play does not work, the application opens but does not play the file, an error that remains even removing updates suggestions?

Google music works ok for me on ics 0.19.
Everything works fine, actually.
Maybe you could try to clean the cache of the app music (in settings > apps)?
re 0.0019
Actually, I already cleaned the cache, but I did the factory reset and wipe app, as I did with the 0009 0.0014 0.0019 I did the music is the only application that does not work the rest is almost perfect .
all right after the factory reset .... all perfect applications including music

Not a developer so take it easy. Was wondering if anyone can make a YouTube mod where music will keep playing even if you hit the power button. Thanks

There are apps on the market that do this. Not sure of the names off the top of my head right now, sadly, but they're on the Play Store.

Try this modified Youtube app:
http://db.tt/TwJYegfD
I found it from the Omega ROM
This app let's you listen to videos with the screen off and even let's you download videos if you want. But for some reason, you may or may not be able to sign into your YouTube account.
You need to push this app to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r--, and then reboot. If you already have a YouTube app in /system/app then you will have to delete your current one (or just rename it). If your existing YouTube app was installed from the Play Store then this one should not conflict with it. This one has a blue icon.

I can't remember exactly where I found this apk. I believe it was from the GSii forums, as part of a custom ROM.

But for some reason, you may or may not be able to sign into your YouTube account.
You can just install this app like a regular app, and it will not conflict with an existing YouTube app. This one has a blue icon.
EDIT:
This modified app comes from the Omega ROM

I tried it but I get a parsing error when trying to install. I'm trying this on one of the jelly bean ports so that could be why. I'll try placing in system and see if that helps

Oops, my mistake. You do indeed need to place it in /system/app/ to install. My above post should have the correct instructions now.
Also on JB, at least on the SDK port I'm using, the pre-installed Youtube app is installed in /system. That means you'll have to remove or rename it if you want to use the modified version I posted (unless someone knows of a way for them to coexist?). And for whatever reason, the YT app on the Play store is listed as incompatible with JB.
Hi,
I don't know if OGYouTube caused this or my YouTube Original one is messed up, but when i click my Original YouTube app, it says 'Unfortunately YouTube has stopped'
and i cannot go on YouTube.
I uninstalled OGYouTube (since that was not working properly (crashing after ~1min of playing)) but it has not helped.
Anyone help?

Make sure there're no youtube ad-blocking apps or xposed modules..
Go to settings>More>Application manager>scroll down to Youtube>uninstall updates and start the app, and then quite it and let google play update youtube

On the official Sony Support site, they suggested to uninstall Facebook App and to re-install it - and some suggested to clear its data and try again, all these are temporary solutions
I downgraded my Facebook by uninstalling the current version and installing an older version. The version I have chosen is version 5 (current in July 2004 is v.12) - V.5 allows me to choose which app I can play the video on and gives me the possibility of downloading it as well (through ES Download App)
It looks old, I lost the function of adding a picture into the comments (can do it on PC anyhow) otherwise I am happy with this version
Here you can get it, (you can try newer versions for the video error issue like V.6 or V.7 as well or even V.9) as I was looking for the version that allows me to download videos (you can see all other versions at the bottom of the page in the following link)
http://www.androiddrawer.com/15634/download-facebook-5-0-0-26-31-app-apk/
And other solution use Facebook on browser...

^ which for non-root users is also the best way to avoid frequent wake locks caused by the Facebook app.
mine doesn't give me a error message on facebook when play a video anymore,....
all i did was "clear cache", "clear data", "uninstall", reboot and installed Facebook from the Play Store
Any Facebook beta user here? Since yesterday's 15.0.0.0.2 update, video problem looks to be solved.. I am even getting lockscreen notifications just like iphone.. Can anybody plz confirm?

Seems to work for me. Thanks
After 17.1.2.A.0.314 update, the error is gone at the first few seconds of playback. The error message comes out at the end of the video playback. It means you can watch the whole video without error, only when the video ends the error message comes out.
after 3 days without a error video glitch,... that error message came back again,.... i guess that uninstall method is only a temporary fix,... (im still on 17.1.1.A.0.402)
I can confirm joining the beta program and downloading the beta via the play store has resolved video playback
Didn't reboot or clear anything, just upgraded and it's working now
The FB app is crap. Has always been and will probably always be. I use FB via browser.

I found a link somewhere I forgot, but basically just log off facebook.
Go to setting>App, then slide to the left tab for all apps, scroll down close to bottom to look for Xperia with Facebook, disable that app.
I tried on mine and it works.

This seemed to work for me but need to give it a couple of days to be sure.
Thanks guys ..
I have tried all the above mentioned solutions, they were all temporary as I said in the OP .. Downgrading the FB application also gave the the chance to be able to download any video posted over FB, so it is not just a solution for the error message it is an added bonus
I too have the video playback error. I solve it by clicking Internet setting in Wireless &network. Hope this helps.
