I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Aliexpress.
I received it, the seller said its I9500.
But, download Mode Says its SGH-i337
The "About phone" says its I9500, What to do ? What version is my phone ? Can i install root on it and install custom roms ?
Im confused..
There`s any way to make 100% sure what model its my phone ?
Thanks

simple answer for you before removed. underneath the battery it will say model: that is what your phone actually is.

Yea, but its refurbished.. so im 99.9% sure that the seller has changed the sticker
if the sticker looks like it has been tampered with then it is likely that is the case, or the seller switched out the part that has the sticker on it. id say trust the download mode. it is nearly impossible to change that unless the chip itself was changed

although I have never come across this before so I may be wrong. if anything try the root methods of both variants and see which one works, then recoveries and roms haha.

A few possibilties...
A. It's running a custom ROM that has it flagged as a GT-I9500 in the build.prop but is a I337.
B. It's a GT-I5000 that someone foolishly flashed a I337 firmware to.
C. It's a I337 and always has been.
The point is if download mode says its a SGH-I337 it's a I337 end of story, that data is pulled from the board itself.

I am trying to get my phone unlocked through cellunlocker.net and it asks for my model number. I have the At&t S4 1337 model, but since I installed a custom rom, in the device settings it shows that my model is GT - I9505. So which one is really my model number now?
Thx

Ya I have tried but since I don't have another provider's sim card right now I can't see if it works. I've went through the process 2 times just to check it out and both times restarted fine, but on the 3rd time it says that there is no back ups so I don't know if it works anymore.

IMEI can be found under your battery. Do not think of altering your IMEI as this is illegal.
Please also use the Q&A section for questions next time, as this section is for general discussion.

I am not trying to fake my IMEI, I am just wondering if the IMEI code contains where the S4 is made so I can try to contact there to get my warranty covered..

There are 4 ways to check imei.
1. Checking imei within Android (Dial *#06#)
2. Checking imei within Android and select apps, settings, more, device info, status
3. Removing battery and check the sticker
4. Check the galaxy s4's box
You can check CSC Code of your phone. If you haven't modified it then.
Check the CSC with *#272*IMEI#
And check country list from here.

Noob here. I just bought a Samsung Galaxy note 3 on Craiglist and looks like I have been ripped off. This is a China model SM-N9006. Wifi is not working. So, I looked here and found out I can root the phone and install CWM maybe ?
I downloaded the files and when I try to put the phone download mode by pressing vol down + home + power .. it went into a menu in Chinese. I didn;t where to go from here.
What are my options for rooting ?
Should I buy mobile ODIN pro ? would that be easier ?
Please advise.

DO NOT attempt to flash anything meant for the official note 3 devices on that thing or it will be a complete brick. Odin will likely not work, nor will mobile odin, most likely. This is a ripoff device and doesn't have the same hardware or even software.

Expensive paperweight mate Try to get your money back from the vendor or go to the police if he advertised the phone as a genuine Note 3.
I have a Galaxy S4 on Bell network (Canadian), the model is I337. Last year, I followed an instruction rooted my phone (but I cannot remember what I did :silly::crying:, which method I used thru ordin). Everything is working fine after root, but my phone's model number changed to GT-I9505G since then. It seems has no impact to functionalities, but just wondering is there a way to change the model number back to the actual model it should be?
Update:
Found the way to change it from another thread

I'm not sure what's going on but it seems your phone has been hacked to make it look like an sgh-i337. If you're in Canada you should have a sgh-i337m though, not a sgh-i337 which is the At&t version. I9505G is an international variant I think.

yup, the label on my phone is SGH-i337M (sorry, I missed a letter). I might used the procedure for I9505G to root my Canadian version phone. Luckily, my phone was not bricked. I don't know where the model number be written, just curious if that can be changed back to SGH-i337M?

Are you looking in settings, about phone, or are you talking about when the phone boots up it says i9505G on the Samsung splash screen? I you are talking about in settings/about phone, I am sure it can be changed back if you have the know how. As for the splash screen, that comes alng with being rooted I would imagine. My at&t Galaxy S2 says i9100 on its splash screen because I rooted it.

I am looking for the way to change it on settings/ about phone. More details, on my Google Play store, it also shows my phone is GT-I9505G (dunno if that's why some apps complaining not compatible with this device in Play store), same as when I restore the backup from google. Can this be changed back to SGH-i337M?
It can be changed back, but you need the Android programming technical know how to do it.

Since I am only an amateur modder and not a developer, I wouldn't even know where to start myself. Have you tried swappng out the kernel? This sometimes can change the model number in settings.

I have the 900F model w/ Lollipop installed. Don't know what to do atm and i really need some help now since i also can't boot into android.
I'm also planning to just go back to stock again like real stock since i'm also planning to sell the phone. What should i do?
Flash a stock ROM from sammobile .com
Cid bootloader unlock
Technically before you can really having fun flashing compatible ports and roms, you ABSOLUTELY have to use "beaups" sm-g900v bootloader unlock. Before you even attempt this however be sure to talk to devolopers aka someone who knows a bit more than I do. I know you have to match CID numbers, samsung verizon CID begins with 15 so this exploit works for my SM-G900V. "adb - devices" should show you some of your CID check out this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909

First, take out the battery. While it is out, look around the panels and write down your exact model and exact serial number of your device. Should look something like this:
Model - SM-G900F
S/N - RF2G40TB8SM
Put the battery back in and boot to Download mode by holding the Power, Home and Vol DOWN keys, and when it boots press the Vol UP. Connect the phone to your computer.
Then download the official Samsung Kies 3, if you haven't, and open it up. Go to Tools menu, and click on Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. In the next window enter your Model, then your S/N and after a couple more buttons, Kies will begin downloading the official stock rom for your exact device.
It's kinda big, like 2 gigs or more, so have that in mind if you're on a metered connection.
After it's downloaded, Kies will then transfer the rom on your phone and install it. And that's it.
You don't have to do anything during the entire process, and now you have a pure stock rom with stock recovery.
EMMC has to begin with 15 or the CID if it has an 11 in front of it then this bootloader unlock won't work, I've hard bricked once (but got it back, thank god for sdcards) in the past had to learn the hard way.

The exploit may work for models other than g900v but it isn't needed for the other models because they come bootloader unlocked.

Isn't the reason that "Android not SEandroid enforcing, warranty bit is being triggered?" a true unlocked bootloader would ignore SE policies all together right? Or do all stock roms need to be SEandroid enforcing? I always found that part a little confusing, as I understand it is all related to KNOX right?
