S5 Developer Edition ROM with HD voice support? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody with a S5 DE have HD voice working? I called VZW and had them turn it on on my account, but I don't see anything in the Mobile Networks settings to enable it. I'm still running the stock ROM that came with the DE phone, so I'm thinking that I need to get a newer ROM to enable HD voice.

i think you are right.. you need to be on a rom capable

FWIW, I had NCG until about a month ago, and then flashed up to NI2 stock, and now have the ability to use HD Voice/Video Calling. I am not running a custom ROM, so I would imagine it would be that you have to have a stock ROM or a custom ROM that doesn't remove any part of that feature.

[Q] Do any of the international/other ROMs have support for TMO's Wi-Fi Calling?

I'd love to get a new ROM, but I want to keep Wi-Fi calling (and any other TMO features). Over in the s5 T-Mobile forum, all we have is a debloated stock ROM with a couple of mods. Are there any other ROMs that have TMO's features?

Don't try to change the ROM for it will not work.

It will never happen...IE International ROM and WiFI calling. It's proprietary to TMobile...period. Look at the Alliance ROM....specifically Rom Customizer for a pretty decent add on, that works on the G900T ROM on TMobile. Download from Playstore.

[Q] WiFi Calling

Is there a way to add WiFi calling to a ROM that does not have it pre-installed? Im on a Note 3 (SM-N900T) currently using PacMan ROM with KK 4.4.4. I don't absolutely have to have it but it was a very nice feature.

The only way you will get the Wifi Calling feature working is:
#1: You must have a Tmobile SM-N900T phone.
#2: You must be on the Tmobile network.
#3: You can only use Tmobile Kitkat N900T 4.4.2 Touchwiz based custom roms.
You can also use the official stock N900T Tmobile Kitkat 4.4.2 Touchwiz firmware.
If you are using any other type roms you will not be able to have wifi calling.
None of the AOSP or Ported roms will have the wifi calling feature.
(Pacman rom is AOSP).
Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help. I met all the criteria, except as you noted, the TMobile Kit Kat. I did try out a couple roms that did have that but I much prefer the slimmed down versions because my battery life seems much, much better. I think I will ultimately go back to SlimKat 4.4.4 and just chalk up the loss of wifi calling as the price of customization.

[Q] installing Tmobile rom to i337

Hi,
Currently I have a i337 galaxy s4 which I am using with tmobile sim card. I made it unlocked by ATT before I switched to tmobile. It has baseband UFNI1 and Android 4.4.2 installed. I managed to get it rooted using the Odin software, so I can use the tethering with the tmobile.
Now I am trying to find a way to use the Wi-Fi calling. I searched it a lot and figured out that I need a tmobile rom installed but it quickly got very confusing. It looks like what you need to do also depends on what android version you are using. For some you need safestrap, change the kernel for some you don't. For some you have Wi-Fi issues and need to change the modem etc.
So, I am trying to find the easiest and safest way that will make the Wi-Fi calling work. I don't necessarily need the very latest android version or the fancy custom roms etc,I only need something that will work without any issues. I am perfectly fine with a tmobile stock Rom if that's the most convenient way.
So,I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this. It would be great to have a set of noob friendly instructions. Thanks a lot.

Hi There,
Were you able to root your device for Wifi Calling. I followed the instructions of http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nvert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719/page6 and went into the same issue. After TMOBILE stock rom, the phone does not boot. I was able to install the first rom and then able to get onto the latest version and able to use phone again with AT&T latest software update (android 5.0.1). Actually, this is the version I have when I started rooting.
If you find any solution, please let me know as I am on the same boat with you on installing TMOBILE ROM using the other thread.
thanks
Ram
You cannot install a T-Mobile stock ROM to an AT&T device. Samsung has safeguards in place to prevent it. You would need to root and then install a custom ROM, which on an AT&T is difficult to do with its encrypted bootloader.
However, this is not the appropriate location to ask this. Questions related to AT&T devices belong in the AT&T S4 forums.

Help To bypass tethering block

Hi
Just brought my Mrs, A Tab 4 Wifi edition. I want to see if it is possible to bypass the three network block on tethering.
Just recently updated the Samsung S4 to lollipop.
What i would like to use is the phone as hotspot or internet sharing for the tablet.
i hope somebody has some ideas or has been able to do this.
thank you.
I don't think the operator can even see that you are tethering to your tablet.
I've tried every route possible, creating a wifi ir bluetooth hotspot, but not possible. Get message saying I cannot tether, need to purchase a add-on.
No add on available until I upgarde.
update: just tried her sim card in my s5 which is running Phoenix Rom, tethering working fine no message nothing.
she is running stock rooted android.
It's likely the firmware was customized by Three to remove tethering. Your options?
1. Root and install a custom ROM.
2. Install the BTU Samsung firmware for the S4. BTU has no carrier branding or modifications.
I don't think changing the rom is a option coz she doesn't want to lose all her photos messages etc. Baiscally she has already TOLD me I'm not allowed to do that.
Is there anything possible I can do without changing the rom.
Unless you want to pay for the tethering, there's no way I can think of other than changing ROMs.

You know you can back them up? And even so, if you flash a custom rom, then you won't wipe the photos.
Yea I know I can back them up and stuff it take some time though. You wonder if there was a work around like a exposed or hack or something.

G928G + Wi-Fi calling (MetroPCS) help

I got a G928G off monoprice and it seems to work fine, M update was waiting when I powered on and everything. We are switching to MetroPCS/T-Mobile but the problem is, we get 1 bar of LTE inside the house and can't make/receive calls. Wi-Fi calling would be the answer but it isn't available in the settings anywhere. I know MetroPCS offers Wi-Fi calling and through searching it appears it is available on other FWs for the GS6E+ but not the stock one for G928G. I would prefer to keep the stock FW but I'm OK w/ rooting if I can get this added. Guessing a new bootloader won't change this so I'm afraid I will need a new ROM but I would at least like it to be a stock Samsung one. Found something about "Aroma" here but not exactly sure how this works.
Can someone point me to one that will work on the G928G and includes Wi-Fi calling? (Also, any recommendations on the best process for rooting/flashing for Samsung would be appreciated - I have rooted a Note 3 in the past and some other devices but not flashed a custom ROM - is this procedure good if I find a stock ROM that supports Wi-Fi calling?
