Just got a little surprise when I woke up today. Checked my notifications and Pushbullet had advised about some new apps posted in APKMirror. The most important of all is an update for MotorolaOTA, which probably means they're going to do a major rollout of Lollipop soon. Hopefully.
Here are the the links for downloading the apps. The website is safe, by the way. I'm installing everything right now, it's all working as it should.
Motorola Gallery 304100
Motorola Camera 5.0.7.1
Motorola Help 1.4.32
Motorola Update Services 7.0.1
Motorola Contextual Services 5.18.063
Motorola Migrate 1.6.0.30
Moto 2.2.8 (NOT INSTALLING)

I'm using a XT1063 on Brazil. No updates so far as of 11am local time. I can't even wait anymore.
I'm using a XT1068, Brazil também.
I installed the Camera, Contextual Services and the Motorola Update Services, no update yet. =/
Hopefully we'll get it still this week.

I believe its something about OTAs, because they updated the same service before rolling the first soak test for 5.0
Just so you know, if you don´t mind having your bootloader unlocked, you can have the oficial OTA right now.
Moto app is not installing because it's only for Moto X.
Hopefully these updates mean that there'll be a major rollout in the next few days.

I see they've updated camera apk.
Maybe camera api v2?
Ladybug's been patched

Is it the same version as the twrp backups? I'm on 5.0.2 restored from a twrp backup...
No. The link i posted is for the oficial OTA, requires stock firmware and stock recovery.
Its not a twrp backup.
Been using it for almost 2 days now and só far so good.
Battery is lasting a lot longer than it was in the 5.0 twrp backup i was using before.

Does anyone received the updates through Play Store?
I received update to Motorola migrate in Google play store. I'm from Poland
Send by Moto G2 xt1068
I also received, but only for Motorola Migrate. I am from Germany. The other apps haven't received an update yet.
I don't think so,, they have updated it for compatibility isusses and little bit graphics change ,its all due for global moto Lolipop release .,, as far as Moto G camera 2 api ,, it doesn't and willnot support many features of camera 2 API,, there other application like L Camera and Manual camera don't support Moto G even with 5.0.2

That is amazing news! Can't wait.
And its so nice of Motorola to put all its card on the table right exactly after the release of L rather than making us wait for even longer for any official news about the updates.

How big is the difference going to be? How soon (or sooner) will the GPE moto g get the android l update compared to the stock android of the moto g?
Is the difference below 5 days, or does it usually take more then 5 days?
Based on the previous update times ofcourse.
awesome...

It stands for Google Play Edition of a phone, running pure Android.. You can buy one on Play Store on the US. And there is an Google Play Edition of Moto G and it will have Lollipop as well.. so that is GPE :good:
So happy that I made the switch from Samsung to Motorola...Samsung will release a statement about Android L updates as soon as 2023, and only updating the latest Galaxy probably. lol

Nandroid for now until L is released. It won't take too long anyways they always finish it up quickly at XDA.
So guys it finally ehre, Im proud to have such a great device like this... And, taking into account that Moto G GPE will get this update faster, what do you suggest? Switch to GPE firmware? or not and stay waitimg for nonGPE Gs to be updated?
The best idea is to wait. Stock is so clean that it wont take too much time to arrive anyway.

How long until the images start rolling out usually?
I've already filled the SurveyMonkey's survey, and I'm waiting for further steps.. How long did it take them to send you the email with the installation details?
Seems it takes a couple of days for them to collect data and devices from the survey, and then they send it.

I'm wondering how long it will take VZW to roll out the official update when it hits. They were pretty good about 5.0 on the 2nd gen though, they were one of the first to get it if I'm not mistaken.

OH i cant wait for THE ONE who will capture the OTA
You guys can't use the 5.1 ota zip to update because you'd need to be on the latest 5.0.2 soak test update (which wasn't captured by anyone). It's best to wait till moto releases the final ota.

The update patches the older file to update it to a newer version, this happens only if you were on a particular s/w version. The 3rd soak update was never captured by anyone. So, if you're not on the latest 5.0.2 update released by motorola the update fails to install on your device.
I am on kitkat 4.4.4. I have my moto e rooted. How would I go about installing the ota lollipop update when I get it? Will it install while it is rooted or fail? Should I unroot it first before install?
Has anybody done this yet with a rooted phone?
I never got ota update after 4.4.4 ... everytime i dwled the captured zip and flashed...
now m thinking to flash 4.4.4 and be on the same for some days....if i get lucky to get 5.1 then ill dwl n report.
will be happy if it brings moto actions..
or else am good at cm12.1
Let's hope for the best!
well i flashed 4.4.4 and kept the ota of 5.0.2 on my storage and now its being updated to 5.0.2
i did his because in the pics uploaded by op u can see in change logs as : [or see the attachments]
it updates a few bugs of your device on lollipop which clearly indicates that we need to be on 5.0.2 to get official update (i wonder about the ppl who havent rooted and yet on 4.4.4 - those who dunno even about xda )
well lets c ....some1 is sure to capture the zip
Plz upload after capturing the zip any one plz.

so this ^changelog shows that update is right around the corner and will hit ur devices anytime now!! btw i dont understand on what ver should we be on to receive normal ota update ?!
FunPart: they just copy pasted the change log from other device and forgot to remove flashlight part ...lol ...sorry to be off topic..
To receive the final 5.1 update, you need to be on 4.4.4. Flash the stock ROM, no modifications to any system files. If you've already updated to the leaked soak test versions, you'll have to wail till a factory image is released. Just sit back and relax. Lollipop is coming soon.
If someone got the update to 5.1, he can make a twrp backup of system and boot, and everybody could get the update!

Didn't work for me, but my device is encrypted. I'll try removing the encryption and trying again.
EDIT: Actually, no I won't. Best case scenario is that I get a rom that is incapable of performing any cell phone functions. Not worth it just to see what the 6.0.1 update looks like.
Restored only SYSTEM and BOOT, got into the startup pages and it reboots. Several times. Now it's hung up on the "Just a sec...", and suddenly lost cellular connectivity...
UPDATE:
Okay...got into the device (it took several taps back and forth), but I can't enable wifi at all. It reboots the phone. And 4G/cellular connectivity is flakey: it drops off frequently and only re-seating the SIM card brings it back.
HIGHLY unstable, IMO.
Wifi doesnt work on Droid Turbo with brasil 5.0.2 too, i tried 22.34.13 and 22.34.16 versions.
Here's to hoping we can port this quickly!

Moto Maxx XT1225 for Brazil or any country has had 5.0.2 since April 2015, a year ago. Moto Turbo XT1225 has had 5.02 since March 2015.
You never upgraded your XT1225 to Lollipop 5.0.2 from 4.4.4 KitKat?
We also have had 5.1.1 custom ROMs since last year and now we already have Marshmallow custom ROMs for a couple of months now if you want Marshmallow...
______
Also, looking at the date of the first post this is the soak test for Brazil, not the official OTA. Motorola has still NOT released official Marshmallow stock ROM for any Quark.

Soak Test #3 ended up being the the one Motorola will release as factory image. Right now you still have to install as Soak Test as they have not made the download link available apparently. This is only for the XT1225.
Also, while Chop Chop was in Soak Test #1 they removed it for Soak Test #2 and Soak Test #3. Still available in Marshmallow custom ROMs like CM13 and Resurrection Remix.
The author of this thread below even made TWRP backups of the various soak tests. If you are on the XT1254/XT1250, for informational purposes only as it's for the XT1225.

It's for informational purposes as one of the two Quarks (two different FCC IDs) released under three model names has stock Marshmallow. Whatever is in that one will show up in the others, if/whenever released. For instance, the Chop Chop a lot of people seem to love was removed in the final version. The new Lenovo/Motorola apparently things it's silly. However, still available in custom Marshmallow ROMs like CM13/Resurrection Remix.
