As the title suggests this is about Milk Music on the Note (SM-N910U). Basically google play keeps saying that milk music is not compatible with my device, I know I can just sideload the APK, but I was wondering why I couldn't download it straight from market. Im not rooted, completely stock, also would appreciate some other models input on this as well. Thanks
What country are you in? Think it's only compatible with American variants as milk only works in the USA. Of you change your buildprop to at&t or tmob variants then it might be available. Just a guess

I'm looking to upgrade from my Galaxy S 1, and I'm confused by all the different variants of the Galaxy S 4. I was originally just going to buy a Google Play Edition from the Play Store, but they only sell it in white, not black, and only a 16GB version. If I bought an i9505 like this, would it be the same hardware, and work just the same as the Google Play Edition if I put the GPE rom or another rom like CyanogenMod on it and would it work on all T-Mobile and AT&T bands?

Look here for all supported bands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4.
But I've heard all the Snapdragon GSM models have the same hardware. If that's true, why have all the different models?

Make it easy. Different hardware for different markets or regions. S4 i9500 with Snapdragon chip is the phone with Samsung tweak rom, it was released first. after that s4 with original rom was released for people choices.
So basically what my question comes down to is this. Can an i9505 be made to function just like a Google Play Edition S4 with no negative side effects?
Edit: NVM, I finally found threads related to what I wanted to know. Looks like I'm just getting a T-Mobile GS4.
I used to live in Lebanon and the play store was limited because there weren't a lot of apps working there. I just moved to the U.S, but apps that are compatible with the U.S are saying they aren't. I am a noob so I don't know a lot in android (switched recently)
Hi folks,
Sorry for the somewhat cryptic title. My question is simple:
Can I just buy a non-ATT/Verizon S4 without locked bootloader, ROM it up with any ROM I like without having to stick to safestrap-compatible ones, then apply the I337 build.prop APN flash, and have it work on ATT and identify itself to the Google Play store as an I337?
The reason I ask is I'm getting tired of the limitations on my I337 for use with various ROMs, and it might be worth it for me to buy an unlocked variant of the S4 on Swappa, then sell mine off. Sure, it would cost a few bucks, but then I could play with any ROM I want.
I just want to make sure that I'll be able to download the specific Apps I use from ATT etc. that seem to require the I337 model...
Am I missing anything?
Marc
I haven't even researched that. But, Verizon is CDMA. Maybe an unlocked TMobile phone would work. I know you can run their roms on att S4.
Right. I was looking at a T-Mobile device most likely, or an international unlocked version.
I understand the challenges working with Verizon devices... I just returned to ATT from Verizon and had to give up my RAZR MAXX HD due to poor compatibility between the networks.
But, if I understand correctly, I can get a T-Mobile or pretty much any other carrier phone with bootloader unlocked (other than Verizon, which wouldn't be unlocked and is CDMA-specific), and it should work on ATT once the APN info is entered. I'm just looking for explicit confirmation it works, and that the phone can pretend to be an I337 so my software will install properly...
Thanks all!
Marc
not sure on specifics as i haven't tried. i know some here have and will reply--:good:

The rom of 337 might work on other variants; however, if you ever want to flash an rom, the pure samsung rom of I9505 might be a better choice; And also, if you buy a non-att variant s4, you might loose 4G data connection, even 3G, because they are simply not compatible with att network (hardware limitation), so please be careful before you make the buy; The other question, by now, I couldn't find a way to 'cheat' google play to identify a phone to att i337. If you really like those apps from att, you can always download them from other app sources other from google play.
Godd luck!

Thanks Wzhao.
My intent would be to be able to flash non-Samsung ROMS (like AOSP etc.), non-touchwiz ROMs.
And definitely I would have to buy a phone with ATT-style hardware in terms of antennas/frequency. I believe the T-Mobile ones meet this requirement but it's unclear whether I would need to get the phone SIM-unlocked to use it on ATT.
As for identifying a phone as the ATT I337: My experience using Hyperdrive (briefly) was that it identified the phone as a Verizon phone... Google play wouldn't let me install apps that were ATT specific. I believe that flashing the ATT build.prop settings fix this, but doing so messed up Hyperdrive because it interfered with the Hyperdrive Tweaks utility. There are several build.prop settings that identify the phone... the simplest of them SHG-I337 in some particular location isn't enough, but there's a hidden identifier and several others that can be set.
If you are interested in testing it, you can flash the ATT build.prop found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51112381&postcount=9
which links to here: http://d-h.st/6tN
I believe it sets all the right things, because flashing it over GoldenEye makes the phone recognized by Google Play for ATT apps. I'd be interested to hear experiences of someone using a T-Mobile or other variant S4, and if it works as well on that hardware...

I have an old verizon s4 i9505 phone. Believe its up to date but its on lollipop. I am letting my son use it to play games and I can't get pokemon go to work on it. Also any advice on apps to hide root?
The phone came from Verizon in the USA? I ask because Verizon USA phones are CDMA.
You may use magisk to hide rootI did that on RR N ,remember saw somebody have tested it on LP
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using XDA Labs
Yes USA phone. What is CDMA.
I was told I could get magisk on google play store but couldn't find it on google play store.
CDMA: Code Division Multiple Access. One of two network types in the US; GSM is the other. Generally cannot be used outside of the US due to lack of support by carriers.
Magisk was pulled from the Play Store. Get it on XDA.

Hi all, can't find an answer, what's the difference between N935K and the N935F? Hardware the same? Does one have bloatware or any other software differences? What are the differences?
Thanks

Thanks, I'm thinking of get the SM-N935F/DS. Is this considered better or worse than the K version? I'm in US. Don't plan to root, but maybe eventually.

The Korean version will be cheaper cause it was released 6 months before the international version. It's always better il get the international version to get full english language compatibilities [emoji106]

The n935f(ds) international model has more LTE frequencies than the weird korea specific s/k/l models, so you have a better chance to use it properly in the US either with t-mob or AT&T. Plus you can use it with 2 sim cards if you like or 1sim+1sd. The korean version has a dvb-t mpeg4 tuner but it is useless outside korea.
I bought my n935F from ebay from a US based seller (never_rrp or sth like that) for $530+fedex or something similar,I use it in Australia. If anyoone wondering it is malaysian stock.

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback! Think I'll give it a try. I am using the flat S7 but been wanting to give the stylus a try.

I'm looking into buying the same from the same seller.
Can you tell a bit more about it? For example, does the Gear VR work? Does the Samsung Pay work?

Thanks. I believe you do not need a VR headset to test if it works. Oculus has removed Note 7 from supported devices, and never bothered to add support for Note FE.
If you can download and install Oculus VR apps, I believe it should work then.

No worries, polyrunner vr isn't supported on my s7 edge either, but does run anything samsung/oculus gear VR perfectly fine.
I just realized that Samsung Gear VR should come preinstalled in any sort (sometimes disabled).
So if you don't see anything VR in your app list then it probably answers the question.
Apart from that, does it come with a bloatware or some alien carrier logos or apps? From youtube reviews it seems that all FE's are carrier branded SK or KT providers. It even can be seen on screen while device booting.
Nope. N935F is not branded. and no carrier bloatware. Just find some youtube video review from malaysia/indonesia/thailand/vietnam reviewer. you can see it.

Gear service , gear shell and gear setup wizard is definitely in the firmware (same apps as they were in the n7). If you tell me any free VR stuff from oculus or other vendors which runs on s7 I can check it out for you if it starts on the FE or i get some bull**** error message
Btw the phone is not branded at all so no carrier apps or any bloatware beyond the usual samsung stuff, no custom boot/shutdown anim either. It comes with multi-CSC and my csc is xme since it is malaysian stock.
The only thing I miss is VoLTE in the settings, but i havent had volte with the unbranded n930f either (csc=xsa). I was thinking if i could change the csc to THL somehow because volte supposed to be available in thailand but i could not figure it out yet. The firmware files for different regions are absolutely identical since it is multicsc so flashing it with odin is pointless, short codes to enter the preconfig menu to change the product code/csc dont work either. I dont want to root the phone because i need other features like secure folder and secret mode in samsung internet

Biggest difference: Korean version doesn't have the fugly front logo whereas the "international" (actually: SEA) version does.
Logo does not bother me, i had it on my note7 too and never disturbed me. Hw differrence that the korean versions are crippled outside korea because of thr odd freqencies they support is more significant imho. What does SEA stand for btw?
