Xperia z3 compact poor battery - Xperia Z3 Compact General

Hello. I reseved my phone a week ago, the battery is so poor that even the z1 compcat had 1 more hour screen on time. And btw very buggy writing in chrome sometimes other places
Here are some pictures and settings:
Disabled most notifications.
Screen is full brightness
Wifi is off
Cellular data is on when i need it
Auto sync off
Nfc off
Bluetooth off
Automatic rotation on
Sound on when writing (low and also vibration
Stamina off
More pictures are coming! Im on latest version.. 77

disable
Almost all user apps are disabled with startup manager, only cool tool is running to see the temp.
Not rooted

During that long and steep "downhill" in the battery usage, what were you doing precisely?

Also, since your phone is still very new, the battery still has to settle. It will improve considerably after some dis/charge cycles.

I was surfing, but gaming gba emulator for an hour tho, but it is not better to this day where i dont have the app anymore, i only surf, like news and so on.

Try turning your typing sound and that stuff off. I found I had loads of wakelocks due to it.

Hi we already have an existing thread for the Z3 Compact battery usage, it is best you post in there rather then having two of the same discussions in different threads. Thanks

Battery tips and tricks

Hello guys,
I've been having problem with regards to battery life. I am not sure exactly if there's a problem but seeing from other peoples posts/experiences/videos it seems like my note has a very low battery life (about 10-15hrs battery and about 3-4hrs on screen time) So I've decided to start this thread that would hopefully help me and most people that are also experiencing/or just simply would like to improve their galaxy notes battery life.
This is where we can all gather and put together informations on how to do so.
- Please post any helpful tips and tricks.
- A list of bloatwares that are safe and not harm our note to remove/freeze.
- Apps that can help save and/or monitor battery consumptions.
- Apps that are a good substitute because they consume less battery.
- Your personal settings/kernel/roms and how you achieve an awesome battery life.
- Steps to properly calibrate battery.
- Anything else that would help.

Before you remove tracker engines and remote control make sure you have not signed in your samsung account or you'll get force close errors. Best way is factory reset and remove apps.

Use anttec app manager/ root explorer or your favourite file manager.
There are quite a few system apps that you cannot freeze, but still pop up when not desired. To stop these wasting my battery, I use Autorun Manager Pro to disable all their 'receivers' (these are events they listen for, and start up when the events occur).
Generally I find that they rarely start after that, and only when I use an associated app.
This is the way I deal with those apps you really do need, but do not want running all the time.
Aside from that, I am pretty ruthless about freezing apps using Titanium Backup Pro.
To see what is waking and/or using CPU when the phone is not used, I use Badass Battery Monitor.

To preserve battery during my day, I use Llama (Location Aware Mobile App). It is very versatile, but can take a long time to get the hang of. Essentially this replaces apps such as Juice Defender if they do not work for you (as they do not for me). It is a manual process to set up, but gives you much more control in many ways. Here are the things I use it for to help extend my battery life:
Manage my WiFi
When I am at home or at work, I get it to turn on my WiFi. This saves leaving it on all day wasting juice when I am out. I get it to turn off the WiFi 1 minute after the screen is turned off, and back on again when the screen is turned on and I am not at home or work. I find this far more effective than the built-in 'sleep when screen is off' which often does not work at all. I stop it turning off if I am using apps like Internet Radio, too.
Manage my Mobile Data
When I am at home or work, I turn off Mobile Data. This prevents apps seeking a connection and getting 3G (etc) when my WiFi is asleep. Saves loads of battery, as well as mobile data allowance. I could turn it off when the screen is off too, but when I am out and about is when I most need alerts, rather than when I am in front of my PC, as I am at work and home (sad but true). It could be a bigger battery saver like that for many users.
Screen Rotation
This is quite a drain, small but steady, and frankly I like my screen to stay still. I find it irritating when lying down to have it jump about, too. Certain apps need / prefer landscape, so I just allow rotation when these apps are being used. It then turns off when they close. A very neat solution, but a bit of a pain to set for all applicable apps. There may be separate apps that do this for you (I like having all the control in one app).
Sounds
I make all my sounds very quiet at work, and medium at home, and loud & vibrate when I am out. This saves manual messing about. Probably not much saving.
Brightness
My next project is to adjust the brightness of the display according to location and time. Probably a lot of potential saving, but it may be too difficult to set and may override my manual settings, eg when the sun comes out and I want it brighter. I'll see (and update this if I do).
Battery Level
I use this to kill everything except phone use and turn the display right down when the battery hits 20%. The phone can last a heck of a long time like that, as much as two days. I have had a Note not being used last for 10 days, so I expect a 10% per day drain without anything running. A potential life-saver (literally, perhaps).
Sync Apps on Charge
I start up all apps that sync over WiFi 1 minute after starting a mains charge. I do that every night, so all my syncing apps will not waste WiFi energy when I am at home or work.
OK, so why do all that? Why save all that battery?
Then I can play games and listen to books & music !
---------- Post added at 08:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:51 PM ----------
I also use DroidWall to stop any apps except those I allow to use Mobile Data or WiFi. This can save a lot or wasted battery in my experience.
I also feel naked without my firewall. It was the main reason I had to get Root access to the phone.
With JKay mod you can have lower autobrightness profile.
Thanks guys for helping out!
IMPORTANT: I have tried Anttek and Gemini to freeze apps. However, I couldn't unfreeze/defrost them afterwards. The app would let me click unfreeze/defrost but I still couldn't see the apps even after a reboot. I just want to point that out based on experience because I froze market and I couldn't get it back lol.
- Apps that can freeze other apps:
** Titanium Backup PRO
** Anttek App Manager
** Gemini App Manager
Someone correct me if I'm wrong about unfreeze/defrost.
it's useful, thank you so much guys!!!
is it UV can also help to battery saving??

-Freeze wifi sharing/wifi sharing manager.
Results. 5h 18m of screen on time. I would guess you could get well over 2 days total charge with moderate use.

Another tweak is underclock and activate system power saving mode.
Max 800mhz is sufficient to surf internet, check emails and sync etc.
My battery is draining faster than normal after recent update. I hardly used much today and battery usage show the following uses.
Display 31%
Cell stand by 21%
voiced calls 18%
phone idle 13%
forgot to mention but I also use the system battery saving option ) with go laucnher ex no lags at all btw my screen on time is not so much becouse I use it mainly for listen music etc

I forgot that. Yes is do undervolt on the most common settings, ie 100, 200 and 1400 MHz. The CPU rarely goes to the others, but I am on the Abyss kernel. Franco may be better.
My CPU does not work at UV less than about 50 mV under standard. Some can go much lower. The trick is to lower it, and then use it for a while. If all is well, lower it again. Repeat until you get problems, then raise it at least a notch, maybe two (to be safe).
I use ROM Toolbox for this, although I used to use CPU++ (I prefer all my tools in one app is all).

There are definite disadvantages to this. The logic is that the work required is required. It is fixed number of cycles. Under-clocking merely makes the work take longer, and the CPU spends more time working before going back to a rest state, where it uses much less juice.
Basically the benefit of battery saved by running at 800MHz is nowhere near the cost of running the CPU for 150% of the time. Rest states use a great deal less battery.
Having said that, I set my CPU to under-clock to 500 MHz when the battery temp reaches 60 C. I figure it must slow down at that point!

I've been running back and forth between tweaked rom with shinto, and this (been testing kernel for CekMTL...) and whole on Temasek's Roms I haven't had any battery drain problems, overall it's been a great rom... Last full cycle I ran was on 5.7...sm900t, and I got over 30 hrs. With 8.5 SOT... Now I make a lot of tweaks to get my life... I use Blue Mail, cause it use GCM for delivery... No syncing on all the time, textra for sms, dolphin browser, Nova launcher, I have way too many app to list them all. I always run the intellimm gov, with row schedulers set at 1024 Read-aheads
Common sense isn't all that common

this is crazy good. i was getting this on tw roms for a bit but i installed a LP rom and something went haywire and the batt started draining really fast... i am currently installing temasek 6.0. dirty flashed over 5.9. i have noticed that with LP my standby time is great but as soon as i pick up the phone to do anything other than look at the time, it falls like a 5000 lb missile. idk what causes it or if thats normal. i installed tricksterMod and infamous kernel but i dont know the deeper tweaks to get better batt life. would this be a thread to get help in? im on tmo N3, NF9, nothing special but a few build.prop mods for wifi and better vid & pic quality. i havent had much time to look around to find a lot of info on governers and i/o tweaks. many of them dont include the newer stuff anyway. any help would be appreciated... im currently running around for business and such and will post all the necessary info in op to help you help me. Thanks for your answer. Look at this screenshot. Anytime "Mobile radio active" ("Cellule GSM active" in French) for an app is longer than screen on time, then this app is higher than Screen in battery report.
I still cannot get KitKat battery. Lollipop is hungrier for me, even when sleeping it does drain a little.

I'm on Wi-Fi must of the time. I do know that a poor mobile network connection drains the battery faster than a good connection and that Wi-Fi is the least battery draining.
So I'm wondering if you are not on Wi-Fi and live in a poor network connection area.

Need help understanding battery historian data

Hi everyone, Not normally one to post stuff like this, I can usually resolve myself and I am a long time Android user. Please have a look at the following screenshots.
https://goo.gl/photos/BkLaTj7nxD63euK77
Basically a few days ago I did a factory reset and have only got 3 additional apps installed to the stock ones. Facebook messenger, WhatsApp and safe in cloud password manager. Last night charged the phone. At around 12 the phone was fully charged and somehow managed to lose charge to 70% in 6 hours with no use whatsoever. Even the battery stats are useless this time. Usually I can pinpoint a specific app or reason but this is really strange. I'm on the latest Nougat release.
Any help would be appreciated.
Update: It's now 2pm and the phone is still discharging at the same rate
Update: 3:30pm and the phone is dead, managed to get a full system dump uploaded to battery historian
Try another factory reset when updating use a different wifi for set up and make sure your phone has encryption turned on.
I had close to same issue factory reset a few times then after 7 was released was able to factory reset and I get a lot better battery life I'm pretty convinced someone has a root kit/trojan Installed and able to record screen shots.
I wouldn't have guesses that if it wasn't for watching my phone get alerts about someone getting Into my bank account and turning on quick access for the app.

Thanks for your help unfortunately I know for a fact that my WiFi is fine and I've never had an issue with it before. Encryption is always on and I am fully stock. As for malware etc I don't think that is the problem, I don't go on any dodgy websites or download any dodgy apps. I would describe myself as a 'techie' and know which stuff to avoid. Again thanks for responding though.
Yea I avoid that stuff too even added a firewall and a few avs and it still happened and nothing went off when it happened witch makes me think it has to be a root kit that was able to stay away from getting detected but when I restarted the phone noticed it didn't ask for password anymore before boot but my screen awake was the highest using about 20% which is usually around 9.

Wakelock please help me. Very important ! (Eui only)

Just what is the reason for having too many wakelock in eui rom?
I could not find a solution.
I do not have such problems with custom roms.
Below you will see the screenshots I made a clean installation.
As long as the Powermanager Service and the Power Manager Display are turned on, they can never be stopped permanently.(While the screen is open)

Bruh it's way less than what I get on Oreo roms
If I were you, I would switch to another ROM (if you have an x722, x720, or x727). eUI just isn't worth it.
If you love eUI, you can just switch to a custom eUI ROM for more wakelock control, or unlock the bootloader, flash Magisk and GreenifyforMagisk or something like that.
I get wakelocks on eUI too, but after removing all save 2 LeEco apps and services, I'm getting better battery life. But I'm not constantly running a cellular connection, so YMMV.

Only the BetterBatteryStats application is installed on the phone.
Other applications come with ROM only.
This is entirely due to the EIU

After reading your initial post again, it appears that the all of the screen shots indicate 4% usage in 21 minutes. Since you just went back to EUI, maybe consider using the phone for two or three days and see if the numbers balance out.
Perhaps something critical was updating in the background, your apps, contacts, email, play music, etc.
21 minutes isn't really enough time to judge, right? After I bought my first Le Eco Pro 3, I kept the stock Rom for a couple of months before moving to a custom rom and I remember that the battery life was pretty great.

Google Play Services battery drain

Hey guys,
since I have my new S10+ there's a bettary drain of 25% per day only caused by the Google play services. I already cleared the cache and data but nothing changed. How can I detect which app causes that?
Regards
skrippi
I think you can use the Better Battery Stats and give it elevated permissions via ADB (instructions are provided) if you don't have root and you will get a better breakdown of which apps are using power.
If you are using Facebook Messenger or other social media or dating apps those are often the culprits causing battery drain because they keep Android from going into deep sleep so they can provide instant notifications.
One thing you might want to try is going into settings, search for sleeping apps and force any apps you don't need notifications from to sleep by default instead of running in the background.
Doing this raised the amount of time my S10+ was in deep sleep by more than 10% and reduced idle battery drain--although it's still much higher than I'm used to after several years of using phones from Huawei and Xiaomi.
If you look at the system apps on the S10+ Samsung has a whole lot of stuff running in the background that the owner has no control over and that inevitably causes battery drain.
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 PM ----------
There is a thread on debloating the S10+ using ADB but if you read through the posts it seems like people inevitably disable some system process or app that unexpectedly causes something else to stop working. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

There is a thread on debloating the S10+ using ADB but if you read through the posts it seems like people inevitably disable some system process or app that unexpectedly causes something else to stop working. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

Thanks you very much! I just started Better Battery Stats yesterday and this is the result. It seems that the motion sensor and something else I don't know are draining my battery very hard. Or am I wrong?
Does no one else have this issue solved?
You could update it to 19.2.75 version , maybe that will fix you draining trouble
How does BBS work on s10?

I already signed up to the newest beta of play services. Nothing changed...
I also switched background data off for most apps. What is this ****? I am not using any new app since my old phone where this problem never showed up.
I figured out that it's not happening when I'm using wifi. Does that help anyone to find out what the problem is?
