I can't seem to wrap my head around this. For instance, this article says CF Auto Root: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/root-galaxy-s5-sm-g900f-android-5-0-lollipop-cf-auto-root-1478356
Of course this is OK, but at CF Auto Root web site 5.0 Lollipop isn't mentioned, so is this rooting method an "unofficial hack"?
Maybe the best thing is to wait?
Thanks.

I've seen multiple root guides on this forums but I can't find one that is for the quadcore S4 i9505 with the build number ending with AMDK.
CF Auto Root. You can't go wrong with it.
It used to work flawlessly, but after this update, phone is not rooted after Odin installation.
You can't root 4.4.2 with cf. Read thru this, at least the last few pages

I just googled how to root the s4 after 4.4.2 and cf root works like a charm... having issues with wifi at the moment on the s4 looking for work arounds right now

Click to collapse
There is only one version. So just pick that one. It's also for lollipop.
Thanks for your reply there!
Ok and its definitely ok to get that?
The reason I ask is because i recently updated my S5 which had kitkat on it but had updated it with CF Autoroot and it turns out that was actually for Jelly Bean (Which i wasn't aware of) i did root it but it done so with errors and someone on here told me its because i rooted with the Jelly Bean CF Autoroot and NOT the one for Kitkat.
So i'm just confirming now that is definitely ok to use that Kitkat root file for lollipop on this particular model?
Thanks
Hi,
I hope, I put this into the right forum.
My phone is a S5 LTE Plus (G901F) with the newest original stock firmware from my provider (T-Mobile) installed. Here are the versions:
Android:
5.0.2
Basisband:
G901FXXU1BOE1
Build:
LRX22G.G901FXXU1BPA2
I would like to root it for being able to remove all the apps, that my provider pre-installed in its firmware. And also to get root access. I've already informed me about CF-Auto-Root. It sounds like it should be easy and it would work good. I have some questions due to that:
Can I root my smartphone with the versions I mentioned above? On the CF Auto Root Website it is shown, that Auto Root is based on the Build LRX22G.G901FXXU1BOK2. That seems to be a newer one, that I've installed on my phone at the moment. Could that be a reason for get problems when rooting it? Can i root it on this way?
Or should I use another solution for rooting? If yes, which one?
Does CF-Auto-Root performs a factory reset when running?
Thanks for your replies in advance.
Greetz
older version of cf autoroot
CF-Auto-Root-kccat6-kccat6xx-smg901f.tar but the one on cf autoroot site works too

Thanks for your answer. Will the Phone be wiped while rooting?
Like the title says, I have a g900v running 4.4.2 with ank7 and it seems like that's a combo nobody else has. I had it rooted before but I believe I accidentally updated with an OTA at one point and lost root. Does anyone know how to regain root from here, or guide me to which updates I should install to get to a rootable firmware? Thanks in advance!
also, I do like 4.4.2 a little more than 5.0. My gf has 5.0 and I'm not too fond of it, but if 5.0 or 6.0 are a lot better speed-wise then I'd be ok with upgrading. I'm just not a big fan on how it looks.
Does anyone have any tips or knowledge on what I need to do to get root back?
Have you tried to root using towelroot by geohot?
you can install it just by googling towelroot and then installing it
once installed you just click make it rain and you should get root
Try this web page if it doesn't work at first
http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-fix-towelroot-phone-isnt-supported-problem/
otherwise flash using odin to a different KitKat firmware that is supported by towelroot and then root
