HEV Suit - Half-Life UI sound mod - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

an old thing i made a year ago that i wanna share with you guys.
if you flash it, it'll turn your phone into a HEV suit and you can get the feel of whacking headcrabs and aliens.
well, at least it'll sound like that...
the UI tap sound is Garry's mod's tap sound, and it sounds a bit loud, maybe you can just delete it or maybe disable it i guess.
enjoy and never lose hope for HL3!
it'll work on jelly bean, kitkat and lollipop. and if it doesn't work you can just extract it and edit it manually.

will try it...
Cheers ?

Hardcore bump here but recently i came up with same idea as @muhammadbimo1.
Used more sounds from HL1 HEV and mixed it with muhammadbimo's zip. Here it is

Request for all ROM makers

I have been using a lot of roms lately.. and loved everyones work over here except one big gripe I have.... I m sure lot of you might agree and disagree with me.. but I just want to throw it out there.
My issue is with boot animation sounds and ringtones.
CAN WE NOT CHANGE THE BOOT ANIMATIONS SOUNDS AND RINGTONES IN EVERY ROM AND KEEP IT STOCK.
and leave it at user selected ringtone and stock boot animations and sounds. And provide a separate .zip for boot sounds and ringtones if anyone wants, instead of giving them nobootanimation sounds.
I have flashed Viper roms couple of times and everytime I end up with these sounds which makes me look weird if the phone dies/rings/shuts down at work with default sounds.
I flashed synergy yesterday and today my phone rang at work and every one just gave me a glance like.."What do they call you....???" (due to the default ringtone)
Just a thought.. if it makes anyones life easier..
Thanks!
You don't like added ringtones, notifications, and alarms that come packaged with apps as well? I can understand the boot sounds, but not extra sounds that help you customize your phone.
And the custom boot animations are kind of the branding you have to deal with for using someone's work you didn't pay for. These developers work hard and most (essentially all) only get paid through donations. Having that boot/shutdown screen with their custom logo or image is their form of advertisement. I've had plenty of friends see my phone while it was rebooting or whatnot and ask what I was running. I've converted a few and brought them to the modding community =).
I guess I could understand where you're coming from if these developers forced us to pay for the product they deliver, but they don't.
In SRF:
Boot sounds: The sweet sound of silence. Ain't it grand?
Boot animations: Yeah, it's our logo... If you don't like it, flash another animation. If we didn't put in some kind of bootanimation.zip, you'd just get... crap. And how often do you reboot your phone, anyway?
Ringtones: The full stock library is there. But the default? It's a phone. Shocking.
If you ask me, a ringing phone sounds more normal than whatever crap Samsung defaults to.
make your own rom. Or customize the one you got... there's a secret sub forum called Themes and Apps.. don't tell anyone else about it, but you might want to check it out before somebody really rips you a new one..
kOnane that was a very classy retort nicely played

seriously, anyone that has a phone at work that doesn't have it on vibrate is an idiot. and that would solve all these issues. its called silent mode, best feature of the phone. maybe you guys are 16 (its a great time, so no offense) but other than that, ringtones and nonsense like that would be the least of my concerns.

These are all things well within the end users control. Just check your ringtone, that's not the developers responsibility. If you want download my midNIGHT ROM and just pull the extras folder out. I ported over the Rhodium ringtones awhile back. There are a ton of zips in there that should work on most ROMs. k0nane is right someone will always complain.......
My only complaint is loud, obnoxious boot sounds, which I havent heard in quite a while... Viper had a pretty crazy one a couple months back. not really a big deal, as I know we can change it, or just use a diff. rom... as far as boot animations, im all for them, and if people want to brand their work, more power to em.
I have a well used option in Startup Manager that dumps startup and shut sown sounds. It absolutely amazes me how many people think that devs should do whatever they demand. Sorry guys, but these are volunteer operations and they do what they want. If you don't like it vote with your feet...

Aborgh's Soundpackage/Soundtheme

Hi!
I recently became fed up of the HTC stock volume up/down sound and lock/unlock sound. So I made my own sounds, wich I think is more fitting for Android devices. The sounds are not downloaded from anywhere. It is MY sounds and I made them for you all to enjoy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With that said there is a flashable zip for you if you want to try them out, they are really really nice and in a not so distant future I am planing on making an app that can change to any sound you want, not just pre-made once. That method will be recovery free also...
I think it will work for the Desire, it is not tested though...
I have also attached the original HTC sounds if you are not fond of mine.
Hope you like the soundpackage

Sound Quality and new "Walkman"

Hey.
I was wondering what do you think about sound quality after latest LP update? And most important, what do you think about latest amazing retarded idea of dumping Walkman brand and making one of worst music app Sony created for past... well, they never had bad music player until now!
But before I write what I think about sound quality, I really, really need to say something about this "Music" Player.
>>Skip it if you dont care about walkman app<<
I always loved W series from Sony Ericsson, I had, and still have most of my older phones from this series. And because Im really fussy about sound quality and music player design I was a bit shocked after I saw Sony idea to remove Walkman name, and going to most lame excuse I ever read to rename app to.... Music...
I didnt install this app update when I had KitKat(dont mess with something that actually work) So after Installing LP I had time to see what they did to my most beloved app on my phone. And Im shocked how someone could destroy something with only really small changes.
At first nothing is changed, but what is most important are details.
After you open app everything is normal.
I never liked main page, its chaotic and beside good look its not usefull, but I never used it so I didnt care about it, I spend there only 1sec after opening app... untill this update...
Now everytime when Im listening something and Im clicking widget or icon, instead of going to current music player its moving me straight to main page... and to do something in actual player, I need to click lower bar to open it... annoying as hell.
Now lets look at most important part of player:
looks simple and good right? its change color depend on cover, and it have big buttons. But beside that they ripped fewparts that was good about walkman player. First of all they removed Favorite icon(star) that I, and lost of people I know liked, because it was quick way to select your favorite track. Now this option is in lame, small duplicated menu as a text.
About that menu. Why they putt menu dots in lower right corner if you can access menu just by clicking album art? I have no idea...
But thats not everything!
How about SECOND menu in top right corner!
You thought that all? HELL NO! we have THIRD setting menu!
Because Sony love Mario, and they though that it would be funny to say to users: "Sorry, but setting that you look for is in another Menu!"
So now not only they make chaos in settings, remove one of simplest fav option, but they forgot about.... simple and quick option to see current playlist. You can only click artist name to go to page of his album, or you need to swype left to select current playlist menu, that sometimes doesnt count what you selected, and sometimes add track to end of the list and sometimes to next track on the list... no one know how this "magic" work...
Now how about burying one of best option that compared to other similar options, actually work good: Sense Me playlist...
Instead of putting this option as a one of main feature, they buried it in playlist menu...
Seriously, most of similar apps that sets music by mood work weird or need weird scan everytime to play something.
Of course its not perfect but still better than others, and I never had weird track placement when I used it.
Now most important: Sound quality options.
As most of you know, they removed few important options that bump volume in our XZ, but they also messed up rest of settings.
As I mentioned they moved sound settings to weird place.
Its look simple but still its a bit pain to use it, especially Headphones option:
From this list, I have MH-EX300AP and STH30, and with or without ClearAudio+ options, settings for those specific headphones work like cra#p.
EX300 options make sound more centered and with huge boost of middle parts, and STH30 option make sound more muffed with too much bass.
Rest of options except bumping middle parts and squeezing scene to middle doesnt do anything.
<<< - End of the less important Rant about Walkman Player... sorry, "Music" Player - >>>
Now lets talk about actual quality of the sound on Xperia Z with LP.
For most of the day I use my good old JVC HA-S600 that have best quality-price-mobility ratio I ever had, but also I use mentioned before MH-EX300AP for outdoor and in home a bit used Beyerdynamic DT 770s(look like **** but sound is still amazing)
And no matter what I have on my hears, sound compared to what I got in KK is just a bit worst in LP. Its still have nice amount of details for most of time, and at least its dont sound like old radio.
But overall quality is weird, especially wide scene. I tried messing with EQ, ClearAudio+ still sound much flatter, and middle parts behave weird, when there is much going on, on the scene its lost all details and its just plain hum that sometimes move to high levels.
I have my two favorite test tracks (Aphex Twin "Vordhosbn" and Bruno Coulais "La marche" Himalaya OST ) and I know those tracks like my own hand, so after I played them on LP it was obvious for me that something is not right. Those tracks are really heavy for every headphones and player, they have all necessary parts to hear whats going on: One is loud with good amount of bass, and other is really soft and have really wide scene with different vocals. And especially in La marche you hear that now xperia is WAY flatter than before.
And as I said Im using Walkman almost my whole "life with phone", And I never encounter such problem with it.
Now I really dont know if its because of new player or because of this update.
Its not big deal, probably 90% of you dont hear any difference except loudness, but just like with camera those small changes make people crazy if they use this all the time and they know what it should look/sound.
Sooner or later Im gonna back to 4.3 but now I was wondering if its my specific xperia z got that (even if I installed LP two times for test purposes)
from my opinion.. i think my phone sounds better in LP than KK or JB.. the sound is more clearer.
BUT
At the bad side, the soubd is toooooooooo low and i hate the interface of new music player where i need to take more step than before to go to sound enhancenent.. And there is no PlayList like before.. I need to go to Music Main Menu to access all my song list... Damn Sony... Damn! return my walkman where i can choose my song to play without skipping one by one or go to main menu just to select what song do i want to hear... :banghead:
Sent from my C6502
sound volume was really low on kk xp. z but on lollipop it's even worse. and yes, i miss the walkman, too.
There is a mod for sound here in the themes frame that makes the sound louder again
Well... All of you should know by now that with every update we lost some functionality from before. I noticed this on all Android phones I have had till now... ?

[GUIDE] [ROOT] Get the best sound out of your Idol 3!

Hi y'all fellow Idol 3 users! And welcome to my guide which aims to help you make your phone sound exactly how you want it to.
Okay, so if you bought this phone, chances are you wanted a great media consumption experience, since this is the Alcatel Idol 3's strength. When I got the phone and first plugged my headphones in to test out all that JBL stuff they were advertising, I couldn't help it but feel let down. Yep. I found it sounded muddy, disorted and clicky. But since we are talking about android, I knew I could probably do something about that. Plus I KNEW the audio chip in this phone was great. So I started tweaking and I finally can say that my Idol 3 sounds like a beast.
Here are the steps, then!
1. Disable the JBL setting. First and foremost, please, pleeease... go to settings > sound and notifications and disable "JBL". Honestly, it just doesn't sound good. It introduces a LOT of disortion in exchange for a little bit of bass. They are much better ways to get bassier sound without hardly disorting it, trust me. I don't know what they were thinking... this setting just assassinates the music IMO. However you are free to do as you want, of course.
* For step 2, root is needed.
2. Install Viper4Android. The following steps will guide you through the installation of this godly piece of software. For you guys which don't know what Viper4Android is, it's one of the best sound engines (in my opinion the best) available for android. It originated in China where it became really popular. Installing Viper4Android will not alter the sound signature in any way, it will just unlock the true potential of your sound-related hardware, getting rid of bottlenecks that worsen audio quality. Just installing it WILL get you a better sound. However, it also provides lots of settings and tweaks to change the sound signature if you want to, and they work really well, unlike this JBL setting we were given. In order to install it, you can either follow my own instructions or head to the official V4A thread and follow the steps there.
2.1 Install Busybox. Download one of the many installers in the Play Store, open the app and click install. Reboot if it asks you to. You can safely delete the app afterwards.
2.2 Download the Viper4Android apk from the official site. Be sure to download ViPER4Android FX 2.3.4.0 which is the one that works with Lollipop.
2.3 Extract the zip and then pick the apk called "ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk" and put it in your phone's storage, then install it.
2.4 Install the V4A driver. Open the app and it should prompt you to install the driver. Select "Audiophile quality" for the best sound quality. Even though it warns you about high cpu usage, I did not notice lags or battery drain. However if this worries you a lot you can always choose "high quality" instead, though I wouldn't recommend it. It will ask you to reboot your phone, do it.
2.5 Make it run along enforcing selinux. This mod normally wont work with enforcing selinux, so you can either change selinux to permissive mode or just flash this zip (by XDA member maximumentropy) through custom recovery, wich will make it work with enforcing selinux. I recommend the second method.
2.6 OPTIONAL STEP: In ViPER4Android's thread the instructions say you have to edit the next lines in the "build.prop" file, which is located in /system. Lines to edit:
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
I found that the second line was already set to false in my device. If you are not in stock rom you might not find this lines, if that's the case just ignore this step.
This step is optional because I used ViPER4Android for a few days without doing it and everything seemed to work. So if you prefer not to mess with the build.prop you can try without doing this.
2.7 Enable ViPER4Android. Open the app and you will find there are several tabs: "Headphones", "Speaker", "Bluetooth"... just activate the first checkbox in every tab if you want ViPER4Android working globally.
2.8 Turn off conflicting settings in some music players. Most player should work fine out of the box, but in some cases there are settings that conflict with V4A.
2.8.1 Poweramp: turn off EQ, tone and limiter. Go to settings > sound engine > advanced customization, and untick the first checkbox. The other settings didn't seem to conflict for me, but you can try disabling them too if you are having trouble to make it work (I have them all disabled).
This section needs expansion! Tell me how you made your favourite music player work with V4A.
2.9 Test it out! Play some music and open V4A. Click the dropdown menu and choose "Driver status". It should say:
NEON Enabled: Yes
Enabled: Yes
Status: Normal
Audio Format: Supported
Processing: Yes
If that's what you see, then contrats! Everything is set.
3. Grab a nice sounding music player. The consensus is that the one with the best quality is "Neutron Music Player". I do agree with this, however, the UI is really crappy and I just cannot cope with that scroll. That is why I use Poweramp, which also sounds nice, and has the addition of a nice little "punch" in the lower frequencies. If you know some other great sounding players be sure to comment below and tell so I can expand the guide!
4. Get a nice pair of headphones. The included ones by JBL do pretty well for the price they are valued at ($40) but that doesn't mean there aren't better choices out there! Also they didn't seem to fit comfortably in my ears with any of the sizes inlcuded. If you want something with a similar price and an even better sound, I recomend the Sony MH1C, a pair of IEMs you can get for $30 but sound like some good $100+ IEMs. If you want traditionally shaped headphones then my recommendaiton is the KOSS PortaPro (or the KSC75 wich are essentially the same but with a different form factor). They are also dirt cheap and have a very decent sound. For more recommendations you can ask me (though I am no expert) or just head to the Head-Fi forums. You won't get better advice anywhere else when concerning headphones! These guys really know their stuff.
Lastly, I hope this guide is of use to some of you and allows you to enjoy the Alcatel Idol 3 to the fullest. I wanted to contribute to this great device's community since I felt it diserves way more attention than it is getting. And by the way, english is not my first language, so please excuse any error I might have made!
FURTHER TWEAKING:
You will see that ViPER4Andoid has a lot of settings, especially if you select the "Expert" UI setting from the dropdown menu. If you want ideas and advice on using them, head over the the official V4A thread.
Thanks!!!
I use n7player. It produce nice sound with v4a combo plus convolver set on studer +1db updated. Also tried shuttle+ but n7 has nicer interface.

Under cm12.1 do you need to disable "audiofx" before using v4a?
Attached is a flashable zip which should add the 3 lines mentioned in post #1 to the build.prop and remove any duplicates. The zip can be used to add ANY lines to the build.prop. You just add the lines to the tweaks.txt file inside the zip. I did not create the zip. I just modified it to put the 3 lines mentioned in there.
Code:
lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=false

Flash the removable script from cm 12.1 thread. It's on first page. Then supersu, and then v4a.. That's how I managed to make it work.

You must mean a different "cm 12.1 thread" that unjustified dev's cause I don't see a "removable script".
Yes, I'm sorry. Here is the DL link https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934545546 and the thread is one for gapps in the first post of cm12.1 .

Yes, you do have to disable Audio FX unless you want to try and use both with V4A in compatible mode. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Thanks for the guide..installed v4a tonight....seems to be working fine with spotify and bluetooth. I didn't use @Nikola Jovanovic's "cleaner" because it seemed to remove alot than just a few music apps...I used titanium backup to uninstall audiofx and I have n7player full installed (was free on amazon appstore)...haven't used it yet though.
It does, but really I don't see the reason to not apply it. Google cam is better than cm's, viper + n7 is better than apolo + audio fx.. So on, and so for..

It seemed to be doing something with vending.apk which is the google play store...I didn't want to chance that getting deleted. I use google calendar and it looked like it might delete it as well...will have to research when I have time and maybe modify.
It may also be the cause of apps crashing, but haven't experienced any reboots as the other users.
GPS stays on your phone, it deletes aosp cal but I installed Google calendar for that purpose.
It would be awesome if you could modify it in that way so the bloatware is cleaned but all other core apps are intacted.

What do you think about Phonograph? Is it a valid music player, speaking of audio quality?
I just finished installing. All works fine so far. Testing some settings but think it's an improvement over "stock"sound. I really like the jetAudio music player. Been using it for a long time and think it's one of the best out there.
Thanks !
Thanks!!
Thank you! Works amazing with PowerAmp and Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear. Thought that sound was amazing already but now It's 200% better!
Or if you don't want to root simply use DFX player.... ?

Anyone still gets stuttering, even with this installed? This is problem that happens to me with every player I tried. The one that gives less stutters and skips remains jetAudio... Is it a Lollipop problem?
Can't flash selinux patch, help please?

Sounds for Boot, Battery full and low sound

In older android builds the phone would make sounds for fully charged, Low Battery and of course boot or a
Shutdown. I've read other people asking this question in other places and the replies of it's not needed. I respect it may not be needed. But I would really like those things back.
It use to be a snap to make a custom .ogg file and replace those sounds with really cool stuff to spice up the boot and all the other sounds.
Can anyone tell me how to do this or make a custom zip to bring these classic style sounds to our deice?
This is not an answer, but it may give you some idea as you continue your quest.

- Regarding warning for low battery, there is already a built in (Settings>Battery>Battery save mode), where you can schedule when to start from 5% and up, sound will notice you when battery is that low.
- Regarding sound when battery full charged, I can help you with a solution if you like. I found some apps, but did not like them for my own need, so I created a Tasker profile. So, you have to install the app Tasker first. I found a Tasker-profile on the web, who do exactly that you wish, and then I also added a condition that sound should only be on between 07-23 every mon - fri, and sat -sun 00-24. Sound is off between 23-07 mon - fri (not to be disturbed when you sleep at night). You can change this behavior to your own preferences of course. If you want this, I can upload it.
First of all thank you for your reply I might aswell give the apps a try. But there is more to this. I was wanting to see where the .ogg or whatever audio files used were placed or modify the zip with my own custom ones. I use to have my old LG Thrill appear as if it was talking to its owner (me) with a cylon sounding voice. If someone had a zip created to install them properly. All I'd have to do is open the zip replace the audio files with proper name and format to get exactly what I want.
