Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my s5 in the last few weeks.
When I connect it to charger, it gets really hot. I checked under battery section and it indicates that my phone is always awake while charging (I didn't enable the "always on" option in developer options). The interesting thing is that when I restart the phone while it's on charger, after the restart it stops showing that it is always awake and the temperature drops drastically.
So, I'm guessing that when I connect it to a charger, something starts to use the processor, and after a reboot it stops.. I don't know.. Does anyone have a similar problem?
And of course, I flashed a new 4.4.2 stock rom and did a full reset from stock recovery, so everything was untouched, but it was still warming up. I was so desperate that I even installed lollipop, but the problem still occurs
I really don't want to reboot my phone every time I connect it to a charger, or worry about it charging over night!

Hi Folks,
Did a quick search in this thread and saw nothing similar. so I've been LOVING my droid pro, and it's been working just fine.
Until the day I let the charge run out to the point where the phone died on (complete battery drain).
Since then, whenever I plug in the USB cable, (and I've tried many) the little charging port lights up as it used to when I charged (with not completely empty battery). The phone itself wouldn't turn on, but after a while (when it got enough juice) it would turn on and do it's Droid sound and load up.
As soon as it boots into Android however, the entire thing just stops charging. It's really perplexing. The only thing I've installed on there right before this happened was SetCPU, which I've only told to underclock when low on battery but do nothing else.
Any idea what I can do to fix this? (can't access bootloader, no battery it says)
Thanks
Edit: of course each time it turns off it looks like it's charging again, but then turns itself on again, with no change in battery level, repeating the process. Have pulled battery etc.
Hello, I had a strange problem with my Defy. I left it charging overnight, and I think that battery charging led was light up as normal. This morning, I pressed the power button, and then phone rebooted suddenly. When booted up it would not connect to the mobile network. Checking the phone's status, battery status and information related to the cellular network were both "unknown" .
I tried to restart it a few times but no improvement, indeed it got even worse.
After a while the phone begam to reboot by itself just seconds after the appearance of the home screen (in the meantime also wallpaper was gone).
I thought it was a battery problem, so I reconnected to the power supply but nothing .. same reboots after a few seconds.
I tried then to reboot into recovery and I flashed again CM10 (Quarx's 20130110) and fortunately the first reboot showed the usual charging of the battery which actually started charging from 0%. I loaded and now seems to work properly.
I had another problems a week ago... the phone didn't charge at all during night, but without reboots like today, but plugging the usb cable either to the power supply or to a computer didn't anything to the phone.
I wonder, it's just a battery problem? Or was it a problem with the rom or even worse the phone?
It would be useful to flash an sbf?
thanks
Problem with Rom I think, flash a previous version or you can flash any sbf. It is not a phone problem

My phone is I9500 internatioinal s4, had stockfirmware on kitkat 4.4, today it was showed low battery and was not chargin so shut it off and put cable for charging but it didn't show any charging (charger was ok i tested it with another device and it was charging normally) so i left it for sometime and when i checked it again about after an hour or so it in red colour "FACTORY MODE" with android logo and "DOWNLOADING, DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET". This all happened suddenly without me doing anything, i never ever rooted this phone and kept it simple working on stock firmware. It's still in that state and i haven't turned it off or removed from battery charger. Please advise me as to what should i do NOW? should i turn it off? or what?
ok, i think children had poured some water around my phone causing that issue, i left my phone for sometime and let it dry and restart and ran fine without any trouble.
thanks
Hey all;
Issue 1 : Its almost impossible to turn on.
The times I cannot get it to turn on it also doesn't show that the phone is charging when plugged in (no battery on screen, no led indicator).
If I reinsert battery a few times whilst plugged into a charger it will sometimes work sometimes will not (I've tried multiple batteries on known working charger)
I know when it has worked as the phone vibrates when battery inserted randomly and screen shows the battery charging symbol, then I am able to also turn it on normally.
Issue 2: When charging phone it becomes too hot to touch on the front glass about 1/4 below the earpiece
This is with the phone switched off; with it turned on; same thing but it never gains charge. (fresh ROM flashed, first boot, no connections, sim or wifi)
It also becomes hot when plugged into charger without the battery inserted; assuming strange processor issue?
I tried to charge it from 10%, it reached 35% before I unplugged it as I was concerned the phone would burst into flames; it had become untouchable/almost scalding on the front glass and the battery was absorbing a lot of the heat.
Issue 3: Wifi will not switch on.
Maybe problem with the processor also? although I did not attempt this on a few different stock roms yet.
More details:
So far I've flashed a stock ROM (actually I’ve tried 3 versions so far, two KitKat and one Lollypop); including flashing correct PIT files with each and using NAND erase all just to see if it would help.
I am using Odin 3.09 with good success; I’ve never had a write issue and it behaves itself very well always detecting the phone instantly in boot mode without fail. I've succeeded with all odin flashes of stock roms and booted each one without too much trouble.
The power drain is sufficient that the phone will only stay turned on for a few hours right after a fresh flash (e.g NO user apps; nothing; no sim; no Wi-Fi; NOTHING); after which I have to swap batteries with another (I'm using a working S4 to charge these).
Thanks to all.
Hi Everyone,
I just got a little SM-T230 tablet and started to playing a bit. I flashed TWRP, changed rom, rooted, tried some mods and it became surprisingly good and snappy. So thanks again people here at XDA you are awesome as always.
But the tablet has some strange problems. When I try to turn it on, it keeps flashing the Samsung logo with the model number. It shows up for a few second after that goes black and shows up the logo again and repeats this for ever.... But if I plug in the charger (wall charger or laptop usb port, doesn't matter) it boots normaly. When I plug out the charger, no problem I can use the tablet normaly, does not turn off or anything. The battery is quiet good, it can play video continuously for almost 6 hours. If it fully charged the situation the same, I have to plug it in to make it turn on.
Another problem is, that the tablet doesn't start to charge when it is turned on. But if I turn it off and then I plug in the charger, it starts to charge, and after that if I turn it on, it keeps charging.
Do you have any idea what is wrong? What can I do to fix these problems?
I can't figure it out what is the cause of this problems. I flashed 4 different roms, stock and customs, but just the same with every rom. Can it be a hardware related issue?
Edit: A little update on the charging issue. I flashed CM 14.1 for T230 and now charging is working, I can charge the tab when it is turned on. But the boot problem still here.... I can turn on the tablet only when it is pluged to the charger.
You're lucky
My SM-T533 was hard bricked because I flashed a rom and I'm still searching for a Kitkat Debrick file, if someone would give it to me, that would be awesome
