LG G2 Battery Drain (D802) - CM 12 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I installed CM12 for D802. I notice that my battery run out faster than usual. Almost 10% in 15 minutes (just checking my Facebook).
I decide then to flash it back to the stock using LGFlashTool. But the same problem.
There's any one who faced this problem ?

Download and Install BetterBatteryStats.
Use your phone as normal for a day and at the end of the day check the app to see what's really using your battery the most.
If you find the application doesn't help, perhaps post in the thread asking for someone to review your logcat.
P.S Facebook is known to be a resource hog. That's why I refuse to use the app.

Thank you, I'll test it out!

i realy would love to know the cause of this an a way to fix it,
i have this issue since i started rooting my lg g2 d802 and flashing roms, even unrooting and falshing official kdz roms did not helped at all.

I'm on the phone has firmware: cm-12-20150221-NIGHTLY-ls980
And I have a problem with the disconnection of a conversation on the phone.
Accept a call, talk and then the connection is lost as if hung up. This situation has been observed for 10 consecutive assemblies. Although this was not before!
Phone model: LG G2 LS980
Modem: ZV8
Firmware: cm-12-20150221-NIGHTLY-ls980
Please tell me how to solve this problem?

I too am only getting about 14 hours of heavy use when it used to last 24+ hours on stock 4.4. (D803)
I thought it may be due to a poorly coded radio by my provider but am starting to think it may happen after update to lollipop. What radio/rom/kernel is everyone using?
I've tried the following all with similar results:
Resurrection remix 5.0.2
Resurrection kernel
RGR_10C radio
CM12 5.0.2 nightly
CM12 kernel
RGR_10C radio
I've found that the stock radio that came with both roms gave me better battery life but then the rotation never worked. Has anyone figured it out yet?

[Q] Scared to return to stock for OTA d800

Is the ATT OTA any good or provide significant improvements? My phone is currently running pretty flawlessly with Grevious ROM and I'm kind scared to brick it following the Flash to stock thread instructions lol. I've read the instructions several times and I'm confident in following them, but I really don't want to somehow brick it or get into bootloops and be out a phone for any period of time.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it.

I also wouldn't bother with it. Besides the LG flash tool won't work since you are using a Rom with a different base. You would need to flash the stock rooted Rom or clean rom.

I unrooted and took the update. It's nothing life changing.

Cool thanks all. I'll just skip it for now!
Avoid it like the plague.

You're not missing anything, if anything you're saving yourself aggravation. There's not a single improvement that I can see with the phone yet it's introduced a nice battery drain by the name of "Android System" once you update to the new firmware. Happened to my original G2, and last night on my 2nd G2 when it auto updated as I was sleeping. You'll notice "Android System" now taking up about 50% of your battery usage. I don't even know how it automatically updated last night as I was sleeping, must have been like that Windows auto update thing where it tells you it's gonna do it in 15 minutes unless you intervene or something. I'm really debating if I should try to flash it back to stock because it's that bad, this coming from a person running it stock this entire time without even rooting.

[Q] freezes on 4.4.2 custom roms / kernels

on the latest d802 4.4.2 custom roms and kernels i get a lot of freezes.
it will freeze in the middle of an animation and will take some seconds up to some minutes and then working normal again.
sometimes i have to hard-reboot to get out of freeze / lag.
on older 4.4.2 slimroms i never had this behavior, only since some weeks with new roms / kernels.
i`ve tried every rom / kernel combo but sooner or later i will get a freeze again.
could a revert to stock and re-rooting / flashing custom rom maybe a solution? i`m afraid to do this because of the long time to backup my 32gb data.
what are your experiences with the latest 4.4.2 roms and kernels? did you find a solution for this with any combo or fixes?
help would be appreciated.
push! no one else with same problems? maybe i got a hardware defect?

The only thing I can say is I own the VS980 version of the device and i've tried every single 4.4 rom offered on this sight and have the same issue with all. Most of the time i'm using the device and it freezes, sometimes reboots, and sometimes comes out of it after a few minutes. Also not being able to wake the device only seeing a black screen and forced to hard reboot device. 4.3 seems to be a much better with these issues but not completely solved for me. I'm hoping the release of 4.4 source from lg will fix these issues but i'm unsure. So at least your not alone in these problems lol. I've tried multiple kernels and governors etc. Bumping up the min freq on the cpu seems to help and changing to interactive governor but doesn't eliminate the issue just help. I thought my next move would be to use lg flash tool and update to latest firmware reroot and install cwm.

i think i will do the same today after work. hopefully this helps.
the better option would be to stay some days on stock rom to ensure there is no hardware defect. but i can`t stand stock so this would be a hard route! ^_^

Yea unfortunately it seems very common among these devices so i'm pretty confident it's a software issue although i'm not 100% sure of that. I ran a flex rom for a few days on 4.2.2 and didn't have any of the same issues.
added a poll as a matter of interest.
omni-ROM, Mokee rom, vanir rom etc.freezing problem still continues.
Using CM11 (4.4.2) for 5 days with zero freezes so far.. note that this is on D800, not 802.

Yes, stock cm kernel.
I'm thinking back now and it did freeze once when first signing into the Google account immediately after flashing the ROM, but nothing after that. So.. nearly spotless
Nice! Maybe they are getting the issues ironed out. Haven't been on cm11 for a week or so since it was the worst with freezes for me. I'll have to give it another shot.

Best of luck! To be specific, I'm using the snapshot release of cm11... still don't trust the nightly releases
i did a lg flash tool stock restore, factory reset and OTA updates. now the freezes did not come back until now *knock on wood*.
when i did a backup of the sd there was one corrupt media file which was not able to transfer.
maybe the media scanner did go crazy and was the reason for the freezes.
using cm11 m3 on my d802... very little freezes compared to previous nightlies, fingers crossed

Were you experiencing this problem on stock kernel?
It might be worth Returning to Stock and seeing if the problem persists. That way you can narrow the problem down to whether it was caused by user intervention or if it's in fact a hardware problem.
Have you tried any other ROMs, Kernels? Or have you only ever been having this issue with Stock 20F with Dori?

Hmm... i don't remember if i was on stock kernel or not the first time the problem came.
I will follow your advise and back to stock kernel and i see what happens
I've never tried another ROMs, only base on stock (stock OPEN). But yes maybe my phone is trying to communicate...
I will test kernel stock and i'll be back :fingers-crossed:
thx
Ok... with KK Stock Kernel, i still have this bug... :/
But i read that it could be a problem of version (20F)... some users have this bug too. Update to 20G or not ? or be patient and update to LP ?
any suggestions ? :/
More than 6 month later, i still have this curious bug :/

[GUIDE] Install CloudyG2 3.3 on VS980

First of all I'd like to thank the following forum members for their contributions:
@Zackptg5 and @megaghostgamer for their basic steps
@xdabbeb for his bootstack
Major thanks to @Cloudyfa for his amazing ports!
I've compiled their steps into a very user friendly guide with all downloads in one place.
I recommend TWRP for the procedure. Any version 2.7.0.0 or above should do.
First of all, you need these files:
Dorimanx 3.9.2 kernel vs980 (Make sure you download the kernel for the VS980)
Aroma Patch Fix
CloudyG2 3.3
xdabbeb's vs980 39a bootstack
Then, follow the steps carefully. I am not responsible if this didn't work for you as it did for me.
Backing up is recommended, nandroid or data backups.
Boot your phone into TWRP. (Recommended method is going to recovery after turning off the device)
Wipe everything except internal storage.
Flash Xdabebbeb's VS980 39A bootstack.
Reboot the device into recovery (there should be an option for this in the reboot section of TWRP).
Flash CloudyG2 3.3 and make sure you select your variant as VS980. Make sure you uncheck the reboot option at the end of the installation.
Flash the Aroma Patch Fix zip, and select your variant as VS980. Make sure you uncheck the reboot option at the end of the installation.
Flash the VS980 39A bootstack once more.
Flash the Dorimanx 3.9.2 kernel zip.
Wipe cache/dalvik cache.
Reboot the device to system.
Notes:
First boot usually takes awhile. The pulsing LED will show up for a long time with the LG Logo.
Mobile Data does not work unless you enable data roaming.
Please hit that thanks button if this guide helped any of you! Any questions, just post down below.
I have followed everything as it has been mentioned in the guide.
When i rebooted the system in the end, LG logo appeared for a second and then black screen with [880] Fastboot mode started.
now what should i do ? its just stuck here.

Easy mistake to make (I did that too once). It'll say you're roaming, but that's just a weird bug. Go into networks setting and enable data while roaming and it'll work fine. You're not actually roaming so you won't get charged for it.
Oh well. Added an extra precaution next to the download link.

Im saying that the hardware issue could have just developed and an easy way to test that is with flashing a stockish rom. If it's a software issue, than you'll have no problems with it. I've never had signal issues with Cloudys rom on my vs980

No i had signals issues before and in this room the issue seemed to have worsen but i think its okay .
but the real issue now is .. extremely extremely slow charging .. even tweaking the kernel with fast charging at 2000mAH.. its such a lazy charging .. you can imagine .. for more than 2.5 hours, the charging has just been moved from 12% to 34%.
not using at all .. only charging .. how to resolve this issue ??

Try uninstalling the apps installed with dormant kernel (color changed, synapse, dorimanx kernel settings) forget the names for them but you'll figure it out. Then flash xdabbebs stock kernel (permissive): http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g2/development/vs98039a-stock-fw-t3051560
If the slow charge is still present, then it's likely a hardware issue. Sounds like you need a new phone with all of the problems you're having. Have you tried cleaning out the charging port with compressed air?

you probably are right that i might need a new phone but i had just got this one and charging was okay with kitkat based ROMS.. like i was using CloudyFlex before and no issue but only with this rom i had this issue. and I had not tried compressed air cleaning at all .. i think i must consider changing the kernel .. it might save the issue..

I'm thinking that the first install of the wrong kernel did some stuff.
Try backing up your stuff, using LG Tool to restore back to stock, and retry the procedure. I'm coming straight off of Resurrection Remix 5.1.1 and I've had no issues with this ROM. Data works without enabling Roaming too.

LG Tool doesnt take me back to stock.. i have to manually flash stock ROM for this ..
actually I had mentioned before, i was already facing severe signals issues and not to forget, GPS is also faulty.
so might be hardware issue that is continued in this ROM too.
But what has been added is .. extremely slow charging .. charging is totally dead.
Using Dorimanx Kernel v 4.6.
even enabled fast charging at 1800 but no effect at all ..

Nexus 7 unusable

Hi. To begin with i have to say that, yes, I have searched to find the solution, but havent found it yet.
So my problem is that my tablet is unusable, it is wery slow (5.1.1 CM) and the battery doesnt even last overnight whan not using it. I hava tried fs trim and so on, doesnt work. However when I boot into safemode the performance of the tablet is OK and so is the battery. So does anybody have any sugestions how could I fix it or what rom should I use? Also I have no apps installed apart from gapps.
Thanks
did u update last TWRP?? it's important if u came from kitkat. try flash another rom or try to flash just the rom

I noticed longer battery life and better performance on KitKat 4.4.4, CM11 or AOSP(Paranoid) version. ~30% longer battery life, no battery drain when sleeping,
my spec: Nexus 7 2012 3G, ext4 latest TWRP +MultiROM
also you should use Greenify app.
