How about creating a sticky n00b guide?

Just got my hd2 today and looking through the boards im confused.
i understand theres new roms, loads of extensions and some critical apps but i dont know where to start.
Could someone please create a new thread thats just for n00bs, that gives an up to date guide for getting the best out of a factory fresh hd2?
im not talking about anything too specific, just the latest (or best.most stable/fastest) rom (and how to flash) and some general guidance as to the most popular apps to install off the bat (theres got to be some commonality there).
thanks guys!
there are at least three sticky guides to rom flashing on the rom development section, the hints and tips sticky in this section is also a first stop.
as to questions like"best rom"..that's a completely subjective question...everyone has their favorite.
course, if you wanna write a new guide no one will complain!

Thank You and happy easy searching.
as much as the tidy up is great, i truly believe that making the "Complete Leo Flashing video guide" and "how to flash everything" a bit less obvious to find (as these are after all intended for newcomers) is perhaps a little unwise.
ultimatly is up to XDA, but just my thoughts
Great idea: a sticky to collect stickies J
Just an additional thought: can't you guys define subfolders in a forum? Isn't it easier to have in each forum a subforum called stickies?

If we start to notice an upsurge in posts asking how to flash then maybe a flashing guide will be stickied back in the forum but this way cuts down on people saying "well if that one is stickied why cant mine be stickied"..
Dont worry I will keep an eye on posts and act accordingly

A stickie roll-up thread is alot easier to manage. If a subforum called 'Stickies' was created then it would need maintaining and non stickie worthy post being moved which means more work (and none of us wants that)
This way everything can be categorised and more useful info added.

Sounds as a really great idea. Now, all we need are some roll-up threads for roms, clocks, icons etc. So the reader can reduce his workload also (ahum)
bad idea
stickies was looking cool and these are easy for new users ..
specialy hsp thread , vbn files , must be sticky @ all !!!!!

Interesting re-organisation. is this your idea Mark? if yes then you need a promotion.
On second thoughts, it is quite a nicely organised thread for the noob, I like.

No the concept has been around for a long time (originally created by a great mod called DaveShaw I think) I just modified it for the HD2 Forums.

But with this organization you can still easy find those important threads AND (and I like that very much) threads with much or new activity will "stick" themselves back on top of all threads. Very useful when something new is happening in one of those threads.
Appreciate for the compilation

Hey guys!
Im quite new to all this.. So my question is: How do i update my radio? And ROM? I want to run Android on my HD2. So i really need to update radio, but i dont know if i need to update ROM? And what ROM would be good, and whats the difference between all the ROMs?
A guide would be nice(I couldn't find anyone with the search function, thus this thread)
//Zenny

[Q] Guide for Installing Custom ROMS

Hi,
I have run a guide on the ZTE Blade on MoDaCo right from the initial launch of the device.
The guide at MoDaCo (I can't link because I am too new on this forum) is designed for new users to understand how to get started with custom roms and is also supposed to keep all users up-to date with the new ROMS and changes to existing ROMS.
The Question I have - I know that XDA is a big community and I believe that users would benefit from having access to my guide; should I Link to my guide from a thread here - or Keep a Duplicate thread in this forum?
Here is a non click-able link
android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/319831/25-dec-installing-the-modaco-custom-rom-from-scratch-and-other-roms/
It's a great guide, I read it a week ago or so when browsing for information on the ZTE Blade and it's modding capabilities and status of current custom ROMs. As an Ubuntu user I especially like the Linux specific step-by-steps
Would love to see it in "XDA markup", meaning "ported" to this forum since it would be easier to follow when you're used to this forum's style. Although, it's very easy to follow due to being well written and constructed, so you'd have to weigh that against the pain keeping two versions in sync.
Dunno what forum policy is regarding just linking to another site/forum, but I think this guide should be sticky somewhere on XDA. It would definitely keep down the numbers of questions and new threads

[Q] flummoxed

i have a san francisco 2 from orange. i used a method to root, unlock, debrand which basically left me with a phone which was unbranded and a new rom installed but unfortunetly unrooted and unlocked.
I need to get back to stock rom to start over, because it is unrooted CWM doesnt work, so i need an image which can be flashed from the sd card. I cant see any thread here for a stock rom image. If someone has one could you link me please.
cheers
Please read the stickies before posting

As explained and linked above, thanks to QuantumFoam, there's a thread for Q&A for non-Blade specific devices.

Stock AT&T Recovery 4.28.502

Hey guys, I currently can't really do much with my phone because I need to run an RUU. However, in order to run the RUU, my M8 needs to have the correct Recovery. I dont have it.
I am told that I need version 4.28.502. Can someone provide me with this?
My device CID is CWS__001
For reference, my trouble shooting post is here.
This has been posted in the wrong device section, plus you already have a thread open on this topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/help/flashed-htc-one-m8-stock-recovery-t3187385
Please don't create duplicate posts for the same topic. Also, make sure you're in the right device section, the At&t M8 has its own device section here:

PS. I've provided a link to the RUU you require in your other thread.
