[Q] Widgets not working properly with Lollipop - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Ever since updating my SM G900F to Lollipop, some of my usual widgets aren't working as they should, ie. the alarm widget. I add it, but pressing it doesn't do anything, so I can't add an alarm or turn them on or off. Very annoying as I'm relying on these every day. I've tried to remove and re-add them, restarting the phone, etc.
Anyone else with this problem or a solution to this?

Or you could just go into clock and add an alarm?

Yes, but that hardly solves the problem, does it?

No one else having this problem? It applies to all widgets. A reboot solves the problem for about half an hour, but then it freezes up again.

Yes after upgraded to lollipop i'm also having same problem. and battery too drains much quicker than before I am working on it to get some solution.

Yep same issue here.

I've been having issues with my alarm widgets too, unable to quickly turn them on/off. Also my calendar widget doesn't know what day it is and jumbles up entries.
I was also having battery drain issues, but a factory reset seems to have fixed that.
Anyone got a fix for the widget issues?

Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 after updating to lolipop the same problem.
Widgets not refreshing i.e: flashlight, alarm, s helath. The only properly working widgets seems to be touchwiz weather widget

Same here with Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F running Android 5 with build LRX21T.G900FXXU1BOC8

Same here with Samsung G900FD. Any solution? Only stock Weather widget is working. Changing language or restarting phone fix the issue for unknown period of time. Factory reset or flashing different rom for the model don't fix it. It happens randomly no exact time.

[Q] Soft reboot on Lock-unlock-Lock-unlock

I am using the D802, bought it in Singapore under M1. I also use the flipcover with the quick window - bug does not happen when i unlock using it. On stock with TWRP and root.
The problem first started when I rooted my device, I noticed that locking it and quickly unlocking it again would sometimes cause a soft reboot. The problem went away after a while, but today it has rebooted on me at least 8 times.
My logcat is attached below(no confidential stuff there). I seem to be able to reproduce the problem pretty easily today, so I started logging from when I turned on my screen and ends when the phone shows the lock screen when I finish the boot(when the lock screen appears)
Unlocking is attempted the moment the screen turns on and all the widgets have loaded(1second?), and the soft reboot occur both with double tap and using the power on key.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3ooqFjmbeiFZDg3aHVUenFCWWc/edit?usp=sharing
I've already done a cache and dalvik cache wipe using TWRP 2.6.3.2 but it does nothing IMO
Any one has any ideas? I suspect a problem with me /system/bin/cnd file cos is keeps showing a "reading a NULL string not supported here" - it's the one error that keeps showing up. Any help would be really appreciated, thank you so much
I have seen this problem on many, many occasions with my T-Mobile G2 but in my case I did not dug that deep (logcat).
However I noticed the problem occurred while using either the Lockscreen Gmail Widget or the Launcher Gmail Widget.
Once I remove them, the problem is gone.
Cheers!
I see, thank you so much! Just removed it.

I was on bobcat and now x-note. It does happened sometimes but i just ignore it
Are you using Greenify or freezing anything via Titanium Backup?
This happened to me, the culprit was me either freezing or hibernating the "keyguard" app.
As for me i didn't freeze or uninstall any bloatware. Greenify yes. Will disable it and see if reoccur

yes i am on stock.
I don't know, i don't have any apps that might freeze the phone. same apps i used to use before too and phone was working fine. its just since last week this time thing is giving trouble and sometimes clock on the lock screen doesn't even load. it shows empty space where clock usually comes.
I disabled some of the default apps but nothing major ones, just google books and travel and all.

"unlock s-health" notification

Hi,
I have a s5 with stock samsung root (anj1) and root. Yesterday i set up s-health but now, from time to time or at least every time i reboot the phone, i get the notification "unlock s-health". Anyone knows what this is or how to fix it?
It's annoying because the phone just starts buzzing with the notification out of no where. The notification goes away right after it shows on the status bar and i can open the app with no problems and have updated it to the latest version.
Thanks!
I'm experiencing the same issue after updating the app yesterday.
Do you have root also? I updated the app yesterday also. It probably due to root
Same here.. and I am rooted.
I ended up removing my Samsung account once and for all and simply restored my older S Health titanium backup and got at least some of my old data back..

I had the same problems I had advanced task killer and had to uncheck s health
In advanced task killer app
It actually hasn't been bothering me ever since i posted this, but then again i haven't turned off/on the phone. But s-health still works and doesn't give that warning besides after boot (at least for now)
Have you set a password for s-healt and you have pedometer data in lockscreen? I'm rooted and I use s-healt
If set a password I can't see the pedometer data in lockscreen and I see that notification, after removing password no more notitification.
I didn't set password for s-health, only an unlock pattern for the lockscreen but i used to have that before. I do have shealth on the lock screen and the homescreen widget and they keep counting the steps.
I didn't use to have this notification after booting up before with root, only now with the update
I get it constantly on my note 4
My Note 4 (T-Mobile SM910T) just updated S-Health and I am now seeing this notification as well.
Just tossing it out there for others so we can track this and find a solution (if it is a problem). S-Health still seems to function fine and I am using the pedometer lock screen widget.
I have a note 4. Rooted with stock samsung rom. Using the widget on the home screen and getting these constantly since the last update. Doing my head in as the notifications keep popping up on my gear s all the time.
maybe a fix?
Been noticing this on my rooted i9500 loaded with Note 4 beta 1 rom. I do not need to restart my phone for the notification to appear but i haven't seen the notification ever since i disabled Weather and Pedometer from the Lock screen. Hope this helps.
I'm getting the same notification. It's at random and its pissing me off.
Rooted stock rom on sgn4
Tapped via TapaCrap on my SGN4
Me too, sprint s5, rooted. I probably get it 30 times a day, Samsung needs to fix it, because it didn't happen until s-health did an auto update. Really annoying
Me too , rooted my note4 , updated my shealth and the notification is all the time , aftre the boot and also all the time when my phone on the table at work.
Just updated my s5 to 5.0, so far no annoying notification. Could be an incompatibility issue with older versions on Android.
I still get it most of the time when i reboot(there were a few times i didnt). If you clear it from the notifications and open s health once, it shouldnt bother you anymore. Still, samsung should fix this or maybe they want because it seems to be hapening in rooted phones
Just adding to the list of affected devices
Rooted TMOUS Note Edge
Same problem
Edit: just asked my buddy who also has a note edge, but is not rooted and he does not have this issue
I was having the same issue, I installed "global s heath" module using Xposed Installer and I'm no longer getting the pop up. I've even rebooted several times just to make sure. Hope this helps!

All of you have Xposed?

Note 4 automatically locks if the notification bar is pulled down

Hi all I have a small issue. Since after I upgraded to lollipop I am experiencing an issue with the device locking.
Every time i pull down the notification bar from top in 10 seconds my phone gets locked. I will be reading my notifications and it will just lock, I cant keep it open for more than 10 secs.
This started happening after the update. The autolock is set for 2 mins so that's not the problem.
Please if anyone can help let me know and if anyone else experiencing this issue?
(Still havent tried reloading the new OS will do that if no other solution works)
Thanks
Did you factory reset the device yet? Try that, should work.

Thanks will give it a try and let you know.
So I figured out the issue. I did a factory reset and installed all the apps I had again and came to notice this happens when I install Nova Launcher and Tesla Unread app. Hopefully an update on these apps will resolve the issue.

After Oreo update AOD stopped working

How do I fix this? After updating to Oreo yesterday. My AOD stopped working. I have to restart my phone to make it work and after a few hours it will stop displaying in the screen again.
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Any workaround for this?

I had the same issue. I shutdown and restarted the phone and AOD started displaying so far.
I have the same issue. Have not found a solution anywhere yet.
If I restart AOD works for some time(1-2hrs) and stops working again. Very weird
Just wanted to clarify this with you guys, does AOD consume more batt then switch it off? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
It's so irritating that I have to restart my phone everytime AOD stops displaying. I'm a busy person and I find AOD a very useful feature, i dont have to touch my phone to check the time and notifications.
I will do a factory reset later. I will let you know if the problem still exist.

My AOD worked all day after I did a shutdown and restart. However overnight it seemed to stop working, when I woke up this morning it was not working. I rebooted and it did not resume. I shutdown and restarted, it did not seem to work right away but after about thirty minutes is started working again.
i have done factory reset and so fat it is working, no issues.. I guess i'll give it a week and see if it will still have issues.
Just found out the cause of this issue.
AOD stops working after I take screenshots using bixby button. (Yep, I remapped my bixby to take a screenshot via bxActions)
Sad I have to disable it. Actually just the single press, i still use the long press as flashlight and AOD seems to be working fine.

It is always a good idea to do a factory reset after you either do a major OS update (like Nougat to Oreo) or switch carriers to take care of any funky issues like this. It may help you out on this. Just paying it forward.

Same problems with my J5 2017 + AOD Installed separately
So yeah, after installing the oreo update I got yesterday, the AOD stopped working. And yeah, the AOD did not come with my j5, but I wanted it so badly. Now, the only worry is that it doesn't work and cannot install the latest version of that. Please help ?
AOD Problem after update
So i found that my AOD isn't showing after the Oreo Update, so i kept on searching for the cause in my Settings and gladly i found the solution.
Go to your Settings- Lock Screen- AOD Settings - Display Mode, switch to Show always.
It was set on "Tap Display " which requires you to tap your screen then shows for 30 seconds, after the update.
Try it! Hoping that this would help some
