[Q] How to blacklist a Canadian mobile stolen in Mexico ??? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
How can we report "phone stolen" in Mexico ? The phone was bought in Canada and thus is associated with a Canadian operator, however the phone was stolen as soon as I arrived in Mexico, that too inside the flight by a fellow passenger.
Can the Canadian operator blacklist my phone IMEI even though it is in Mexico ? Or can I call the Mexican Telefonica company and then can blacklist this IEMI so that the phone can never be used in Mexico ? Please guide me through this, I'd be eternally thankful.
I am really worried and I have had such a bad experience in Mexico, firstly at the international airport in Mexico City the shopkeepers tried to make me pay more than I should, then my phone is stolen.
Thanks in advance,
Sanjeev

[Q] If a Tmo HD2 gets ESN blocked can it work outside the US?

an extremely noob question but if a claim is filed to Asurion as lost/stolen and the ESN is blocked can the unit still be used outside the US for a Tmo HD2? lets say whoever stole it went to another country and never opened it up while it was stolen and then used a SIMCARD on that country, will it still work?
It would in any country that is not sharing blocked device data with the US
google should give a few leads on this.
Yes it will - Africa for example, not sure of the EU

[Q] Getting a bad ESN/bad IMEI network phone to work in another country

Hi
I'm thinking of ordering a galaxy s5 from ebay. There are many models that are priced siginificantly lower. I have certain questions before I make the purchase that I will be humbly thankful if anyone can help me with.
First of all, I want someone to confirm that a bad ESN ad means it's a CDMA phone where as a bad IMEI means it is GSM phone. My country only has GSM network I will probably go for a bad IMEI phone?
Second, What to do about the Bad IMEI. Is there ANY way at all taht I could make it work in my country with the GSM provider? (I'm comfortable with flashing, rooting etc).
There are some ads that say, Bad IMEI for USA. Does this mean that it iwll work in my country's network (outside of USA?).
Summary: So basically, I want to buy a bad imei galaxy s5 from ebay (mainly because of it's low price) and be able to use it in my country where all networks are GSM based. Is is possible? If so, what are the things I need to be careful about when buying a bad IMEI locked/unlocked phone?
Thanks for the help. I'm sure this will help a lot of potential s5 buyers!
Bump. I'm wondering about this too..
another bump.
Sorry, not in favour of helping people fix stolen phones. That can only spur additional thefts.
Do your best to buy a phone that doesn't have a bad ESN /IMEI in the first place.

[Q] How to Unlock G7109 CDMA SIM Slot

Hi guys. I have a Galaxy Grand 2 (G7109), China Telecom model.
It has two SIM card slot, one for CDMA(Slot 1) and the other for GSM(Slot 2) network.
Slot 2 is originally unlocked. But Slot 1 is locked for China Telecom.
Are there any ways to unlock Slot 1 so that I can use other SIM cards for 3G connection or for use abroad?
My phone is rooted. Thanks in advance!

First, thanks for using proper English.
Your operator will unlock the SIM slot if you pay a contract termination fee.
Tried with American operators.

Thank you for your kind reply and the useful info. I will go to the carrier shop and ask if they do the same in my country.
Would there still be other ways to unlock it? I am not going to terminate my contract for the moment but I have a plan to go to another country for a few weeks.

You still have to pay some fee if you purchased the device ON CONTRACT WITH YOUR PHONE LINE (SIM CARD).
Your operator knows better.

I went to the China Telecom shop a few days ago and asked the staff if they can unlock the phone. He said, "The phone is not locked. Some people from other countries told me that they were able to use the phone in their country. Just try using it." So I am here in Japan and tried to use it. But unfortunately it IS locked and Japanese SIM doesn't work. Any solution??

It may be a compatible band range issue.
Operators in Asian countries operate very strange bands (especially China, for political reasons, and Korea).
As I have heard, you cannot travel and bring a smartphone from outside China as the airport cops will confiscate it AND because it won't work.
Operators are the worst liars ever. Rogers, a Canadian operator, repeatedly told me that its Nexus 5 was locked. They lied. Again. And again. Over different shops. But a quick Google search revealed that North American Nexus devices are ALL unlocked. Don't trust your operator.
I'm quite sure it is the bandwidth. Ask your (destination) operator if it operates your device's bands. It also happened with me. Almost tricked by an operator called Vidèotron into buying a SIM card, but it turned out that they don't operate the bands my dad's Note II (Saudi Arabian unit). Checked with other operators and, luckily, some did operate them. Just try different operators.

Thank you for the message. Yes, I also think it is a problem of bandwidth. I guess China Telecom version of Galaxy Grand 2 doesn't work with UMITS 2100MHz, which is a common bandwidth in Japan. I was just able to use it in China, Macau & Hong Kong. It's a good device but useless in Japan...

[Q] China Telecom on US Phone?

Hello. Hopefully I started this thread in the right place...
Recently, I moved to China. In the U.S., I was using a Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) with Verizon as my carrier. I've rooted the phone, but I've not messed with other things like firmware or custom roms. In China, I have this truly god awful phone with China Telecom as my carrier. The China Telecom SIM card does fit in my old Verizon phone.
So, is it at all possible to redo my U.S. phone in such a way that allows me to use the China Telecom network? I've messed with my phone with the new SIM card, and I've asked Google, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Q] Sim Unlock Note 4?

Can anyone with experience of the Note series tell me if it's usually a hassle to Sim Unlock them? Also, is there usually much of a delay between general release of the phone and the paid unlock codes becoming available?
Due to contract complications I'll be getting the Note 4 with 1 provider and using with another from day 1 (hopefully).
Thanks!
If you're ready to pay for it, http://www.cellunlocker.net/unlock-samsung-galaxy-note-4.php
I don't know if it's up, but it will soon enough.
That is who I plan on using but one more question?
Since I preordered the Note 4 I had to get with it a new sim card and plan. I plan on being overseas for several weeks at the end of the month. I plan to cancel my
plan and simply use my current sim card on my current $30 per month plan. Now ,in order to avoid region locking they say first activate the phone in the US first. If I just pop in my current old sim card will that count as having activated the phone or do I need to put in the new sim card? When I preordered the phone the lady I Talked to charged me the full price for the phone but the $40 plan she put me on is not yet charged to me, presumably that gets activated when I activate the phone. Can I just ignore that $40 plan and go merrily along with my old plan. By the way the only reason I pre ordered the Note 4 was to get the $200 Samsung rebate deal, otherwise I would have prefered getting it in the store. Best Buy sounds like they have a better rebate deal in a way but they do not handle T Mobile pre order deals. I am glad to know the phone will be quickly unlockable when it comes out.
Bill
Found out today that the phone comes unlocked when purchased through mobiles.co.uk so that's that problem solved!
Thanks for the rellies.
I'd also like info on this. But i guess i'll have to wait until more people get the note 4. Mine comes monday. and the website mentioned above says "note 4" but then later on it refers to it as " note 3." hopefully it gets updated with in a day or two of people receiving the phone. Or other websites pop up.
Are there any new info in this?
I will buy mine in Portugal (Meo carrier). I very curios about this too? Is there any way to sim unlock it?
Thank you and best regards.

It might be a little too late for you but I've had the worst luck with cellunlocker. I use swiftunlocks.com and they have the best customer service. They answer your emails and keep you posted unlike cellunlocker that just disappears for days when they actually say it takes 1 - 5 hours.
Hope that helps.
Note 4 unlock
Well I have galaxy note 4 European locked and I have tried the codes but not working, and also I have tried FASTGSM but did not work as they say that my IMEI was not found in the database and they refunded me.
so I hope if someone find a solution to unlock it without rooting it will be great.

I already send them email about my phone and they said they cannot unlock it, sure that you are lucky
at this moment no one was able to unlock my phone, so I am left with two options ether sell my phone on eBay or give it to someone who will travel to EU so he can unlock it by using the 5 minute call.
