Well, i personally i have a shortcut to camera app on my screen and i'm using touch to capture.
I've never used that key ... but...
1. From what i know, on X10, pressing that key won't open the app.
2. To take a picture, press the button half down, wait for focus and then press all the way down.
thanks for your response
When pressing like that focus cursor (centre of display) turns green then goes off , but not capturing
to open the camera app with the key, press it all the way in, and hold it for around 3 seconds
to take a picture push it in halfway for the green focus to come up, then all the way in to take picture, simple
I did it but not working.
Dunno if this is a but obvious but are you pressing it hard enough?
I only ask because I have to press mine very very hard to actually capture.
Swyped from my rooted X10i using XDA.

Agree, the button is just a bit to hard for my taste. But i can live with it

You probably are using a task-killer that is killing some process related to the button. Pressing the button opens up the Camera app. If it doesn't, you've screwed up a setting somewhere or killed a task unnecessarily.
Have you went into the test menu? (While in the lock screen, press menu > back > back > menu > back > menu > menu > back).
Then go to service tests, and find "Keyboard and switch" or something, see if it registers the button press. It should register half press and a whole press.

Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing.
Sorry, I'm too lazy to read the manual.
Finally I found it , Thanks for all your valuable advise
The home button of my Galaxy I5800 doesn't works good anymore.
if I press the home button --> the phone is refressing my screen.
Normally you go to your home screen, or select your launcher.
if I hold the home button --> do nothing.
Normally you see a screen with 6 last used apps.
are there options by install to give options on your home button??
it depends upon ur launcher
if ur using 2.2 then goto running apps and search for ur current launcher(stock is touchwiz) and select clear cache and data after force stopping
what file do I need to modify to remap the home button .. i have tried
system/usr/keylayout/atmel_mxt_ts.kl
system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl
there are tons of other files, which one is the correct one??
I want to remap home button to turn on/off screen ... as I have the ridiculous issue with my s5 where the screen does not wake up (only the capacitive keys light up)
Home already wakes the phone up, NOVA Launcher can map it to any shortcut or app you like, find one that locks the screen and map it to that
Or are you saying that Home no longer wakes up the screen?
Settings > Device > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction > Air Wake Up
You can wake the phone up by waving your hand over the sensors

Hello Friends
I just want to know how to replace Long Pressing Home Button Shortcut with Nothing
On Long Pressing Home Button it opens Google App
and also when i Long Press Left Navigation Key it Opens all the running Apps along with Google Search Bar
I want to remove that Search Bar
I have tried everything but of no use
Setting- About Phone and enable Advance Mode.
After that goto Setting- Buttons and customize as you want.
Afternoon all.
Can you change what app the double tap power button opens up?
I get the option on Snapchat or Camera. When I'm out on my motorcycle I cant unlock with fingerprint so have to double tap the power button but then it tries to open SC/Camera. OR can I just turn off any app & just have it unlock the screen?
Thanks

Try button mapper app, by xda dev on play store, I've not used it in ages but you should be able to map a button or a peripheral button to do that, though probably not power button ... I think.

That app can't program the power button. Best work around I've found is using a program called "powy", and then assigning a tasker task to a button single/double/triple/etc tap.
