I don't know if I'm the only one who's noticing this but I just came off 4.3 TouchWiz onto SlimKat 4.4.2 (Build 5) and I'm noticing battery drain like crazy on my mobile. I thought it was bad on my previous stock ROM after the horrendous 4.3 update Samsung provided but this is worse. I used to get around 9-10 hours of battery life which has been reduced to around 6-7 hours now (I know it's not a HUGE difference but I'm not a fan of charging my phone twice a day). Overnight (despite leaving it on flight mode) the battery of my phone drops by 8 odd % in around 6-7 hours. Does anyone know the cause of this and can someone please help me?
Thanks

1. Switch off Google now.
2. Root.
3. Install Greenify + Donation Pack.
4. Greenify the intended apps.
5. Switch off Location.
6. Turn off animations.
7. Turn down the brightness.
8. Turn on the dark slim mode.
9. Switch to 2g.
With the above, I get 1+ day of battery on my i9300.
Read in other forums of other ROMs with 4.4.2 that battery drains with this KitKat version
Using omni ROM 4.4.2 battery drains on this too. Could it be Version specific problem ?
Hello guys i have been facing absolutely horrible battery life on my s3 i9300 for the past 3 months or so....im currently running archidroid 2 which has absolutely amazing battery life as compared to the other roms that i have used and by that i mean almost all the popular roms that have been made for the s3 i9300 i have changed chargers....i just got a new battery about an hour ago and thats also not helping me at all i lose 2 percent in every 5 mins while doing light tasks like writing this thread and 2 percent in every 3 mins while playing games like clash of clans /fifa 14 ....one of my friends who has an s3 has abolutely amazing battery life he says he loses just 5 percent in one hour of fifa 14 i have disabled sync put my phone on 2g brightness on auto greenified almost all apps...pls help :'(
Yeah, those friends xD. On s3 you can play for about 3-4 hours depending on game. You must take care of screen on time. Look at it on yours friend phone Thats the real time of using your smartphone. Max screen on time that i had was about 5.5h but I was only reading a book. And the 3g browsing eats your battery like a boss I discharged my phone in 2h so thats normal.
Peace

Use BetterBatteryStats to have full control over it. Also, I don't know what apps you have running, but try to use Greenify.
You're running a custom rom, so the culprit can be the kernel too. Use an untouched stock kernel if you want or heavily tweak the custom one you're using.
We can't tell you more than this, because we don't know what you have installed, what you have running and how do you use it.
check out BetterBatteryStats, as already mentioned for the real battery killers.
put down the brightness to a low level
turn off your mobile internet in moments you dont really need it (i.e. during sports). just like you turn off wifi, when you leave your house
Is your phone 2 years old?
Buy a new battery.
try calibrate battery or boeffla kernel
Looks like your battery needs to be recalibrated.
Completely drained your battery & charge it for 8 hours without stopping during the night.
It happened to me too a few weeks ago when I bought a new battery.
Use BBS, greenify & tweaks your kernel settings will definitely help too.
Good luck
I still like the look of the S2
Replace your battery
Either get another Samsung battery - or go big and get ZeroLemon 7000mAh - worth every penny! and you get used to the size & weight pretty fast.
Hello
i'm new here, but not new in ways of flashing and rooting and stuff.
My main problem i'm stuck at for over 4 years
Galaxy S2 i9100
Galaxy S3 i9300
Galaxy Note 2
Galaxy S4 LTE i9505
Galaxy S4 LTE T-Mobile (Netherlands) GT-i9505
BATTERY DRAIN ON EVERY CUSTOM ROM\KERNEL EVER
Let's go:
Samsung Galaxy S4 T-Mobile GT-i9505 (NO NOT THE SGH-i337, I DONT LIVE IN AMERICA)
Whatever ROM \ Kernel i tried: DRAIN
Kernel : Any
Location off
bluetooth off
signal strengt: Lived almost under a cell tower, 100 percent signal
Airplane mode, wont make a difference
Sync off (ALL SYNC)
New battery : Not resolving anything
Wipe? I could wipe for billion times wont solve ****
Brightness low - (auto disabled)
Disabled automatic time
disabled google maps log report + Disabled the whole app
Disabled auto update play store
disabled virbration
disabled touch sounds
disabled automatic wifi scan
Removing SD Card : Nope not solving anything
Trying different roms? : I tried all possibilitys
Calibrated battery? Check no solve
"Settle the rom (bull**** but was worth trying) No solve
Replaced model??Check! No solve
Gsam Battery monitor? Check, Not a drastic drain...??
Undervolting, .. nope
underclocking,,, nope
powersave governe? nope
Using 2g as priimary network? you can already guess it
Average battery 100-0 5 - 6 hours. When using losing 2 percent in 3 minutes average, playing simple games (COC) 30 percent in 10 mins
The solution to get normal battery back?? TOUCHWIZ STOCK (EVEN CUSTOM BASED TWROMS DRAIN)
So my phone lasts longer, if it only has 500 mb ram left instead of 1.3 gb (wich was on custom)
Battery goes longer with bloatware from samsung + tmobile running in the background
Its like if you drive 200 kilometers per hour on max rpm using less gasoline then driving eco mode on low rpm.
IM SICK OF IT FOR OVER 4 BLOODY YEARS ALL THE SAME BULLS*T
ANY HELP IS MUUUUUUCH APPRECIATED
THANKS IN ADVANCE
YOU GUYS R AWESOME!!
PEACE!
Custom roms don't have the same battery life as stock roms, true.
But what you're describing is clearly not normal. Last time I charged my phone was 18 hours ago. I'm now at 75% percent. There was some moderate usage (mostly texting) but the phone was mostly idle.
Well the only constant factor is you. I think you just expect to much of a smartphone. A screen on time of 2-4 hours is normal. Also it's common to charge it every night.

Maybe it has something to do with root. Since it happens only on rooted roms.
I can't find any explanation why you have good battery life on stock but bad battery life on any custom rom.

Remove all apps you don't need. Install wakelock detector to see what is consuming battery on your device Then disable them using greenify or servicely . You can also run this script http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/guide-reducing-google-play-services-t3139032 .
Remove extra bloatware , avoid using wifi , reduce screen brightness .. or go back to kitkat.
I would rather suggest to change your battery dude, 2 years for a mobile battery is more than enough.
Only apps was installed on my device is WhatsApp, facebook, Instagram and Greenify.
Yesterday I downgrade to KitKat and the battery very bad (Cloudy 2.2)
Same problem here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/lg-g2-d802-battery-draining-5-0-2-t3256313/
I also got bad battery life with all LG lollipop rom and stock kitkat , but I get terrific battery life with cloudy g2 2.2. Like 6.5 hours of SOT. Just make sure you clean flash and reduce background app by clearing recent apps.
Are there any apps that show the battery Wear level

6.5 hours?!?! Are you sure?
1.5 to 2 hours of SOT is the most I can get out of my two-week-old G2.
I bought is from a "mobile shop" on aliexpress.
Yes, it is refurbished... ,it looked like brand new on the outside.
... however, when I disconnect it from the charger in the morning (7 am) a few hours, and a few phone calls later it is already at 85%
at noon there is 65% left.
at the evening - somewhere around 22h - the battery usually dies completely ...
14-15 hours of usage on battery... NO games, NO Youtube videos.
Max 30 minutes browsing the news (on WiFi)... and an hour of phone calls (city center, so no problem with reception...)
When the screen is on (btw. I set it to 70% brightness) I can literally see the battery percentage indicator decrease every few minutes...
Looks like I got a phone with bad battery... didn't I?
I'm on KitKat (4.4.2 stock) D802 version...
I had this problem on my freedompop(sprint) "refurbished" phone. Even though it looked like new on the outside, I would only get 2-3hrs sot. After replacing the battery I now get more than double that. Factory reset, disable/uninstall the apps you don't need, and only install the apps you do need. If you still get bad battery life then the only option is a new battery.
Btw, a custom rom will NOT give you significantly better sot unless it severely cuts performance and lcd brightness.

Well if you are using kitkat then i must say you got a faulty or old old battery . G2 on kitkat is/was a beast , I can recall those days when i used to get 7+ hrs sot on kitkat . you should call or email to your seller and tell them the problem you are facing.
After sorting through potential power draining apps etc.. You could try a battery calibrator of some sort. I used one and a big difference noticed, however after it's fully charged in the morning I take it off the charger and leave it sit there for at least 30 mins without touching it and battery life is even better.
Thank you all for your answers.
In the mean time I installed this Battery Monitor Widget.... and it gives me some "interesting" readings:
1. my phone charges ridiculously fast. From 37% to 100% in 70-80 minutes... Connected to the charger at 00:04. At 01:14 it was already at 99% (This widget gathers info every 10 minutes)
https://goo.gl/photos/DDerdsk2mSdKipMt7
...and it charges with an insane amount of current (over 2100 mA)
https://goo.gl/photos/VJd7iUFMm5A4s3UeA
2. there are some kind of "spikes" in battery usage, but after a few minutes the battery seems to recover...
this is the battery voltage statistics:
https://goo.gl/photos/Uh96utz1aBJNV3qCA
So, It is more and more evident, I got a faulty battery...
Now, only if I could know where to buy a GENUINE LG battery...
Aliexpress is full of "shops" claiming they are selling "original" LG batteries, however there are quite a few negative reviews about them... (batteries are lighter, thinner, deteriorating fast... etc.)
hello friends ,i got a new battery (it seems original) and installed it but i have weird problems with the percentage that the phone shows .
-the battery lasts for 9h sot even with some benchmarks on latest pie ob ,so its definitely not bad
-the problem is that when it gets to 10% then it goes 9 8 7.. till 0% in about 5 minutes and then shuts off with a dead battery screen .
-i noticed that the phone still charges when it reaches 100% charges at 1 amp and gets to 0 amps after 20 minutes ,i also noticed that the idle/screen off drain is very very low ,it probably has to do something with the battery calibration
i tried:
going full stock with stock recovery but the issue persists,
doing some all night power off charges to 100%
searched most of the threads everywhere ,but no one has an exact answer .
is there any way i can access the discharging algorithm so i can tweak it ,or if is a way to teach it be more precise?
thanks so much for everyone willing to help ,sory for the long post ,i wanted to be as precise as possible i can provide everything you ask for to fix it .
p.s. i study electrical engineering so be free to use scientific terms.

Not a solution, but just keep the battery level above 10%
9h sot is very good with a battery you don't know if it's original or not

it was 9 sot hours with 3 hours of geekbench battery test (about 14%/hour lost) without any tweaks at all , completely stock ... that's the reason i am trying to fix this issue, the performance is insane ..(every calibration app shows at least 99% health,it even recharges way faster that the old one ,3.8A 10 to 100 in 45 minutes) if it wasn't that i would swap it back with the stock ..

Technically you want to avoid the battery dropping below 20% anyway (If you believe the words from Samsung) so it shouldn't really be an issue.
One thing you can try though is to install L Speed from the play store (require root) and use the battery calibration tool to see if that helps. Outside of this I cant really think of any thing else other than to just deal with it as is.
i figured it out guys...the thermistor in the battery was dead , i though a solution for anyone face the same problem ,desolder the control board from the original battery then solder it to the new one ,the cells are healthier so the battery will be good as new ?
