I have been studying programming and the like recently, and I wanted to work on something practical. I recently got a 'Striiv Fusion' and wanted to learn how I can edit the firmware inside the device, to make a few simple changes such as the order in which screens appear.
If anyone could help; I want to know how I can get access to the code in some form for both the Wrist-Device and the Mobile app. Then how to redeploy my edited version of the code into the device/phone.
In addition:
I'm very unfamiliar with this sort of thing, and would appreciate being directed towards any references I could read up on.

Hello community
I am a great fan of this community and i have recently bought a HTC Wizard and now, more than ever, i follow all the news on this site.
But, regardless of this, being a new owner has its handicaps, meaning i am missing a lot of the basic information on operating (modifing, customising, etc.) my device.
I have been using a HP4700 but i have recently bought an Orange M3000.
i hope that by this post, me and all the newcomers would find valuable information and answers and also the basic knowledge to be able to understand and contibute in more advanced threads.
Thank You
I would like to know what would be the first steps to follow when buying a new device to get the most out of it.
I mention that the my device is operator locked, and, i do not necessarily want to unlock it, but i want to decustomize it and to be able to flash it with the newest roms and use all enhancing tweaks
all information is appreciated, thank you
You either need to do some readings around here, or you can search for specific question. Would be difficult for others to spoon-feed you
To decustomized it, the basic (easiest way) is to skip the customization installation after hardreset. That is to soft reset the device just after the security screen. You have 3 seconds to soft reset your device after the security screen.
I am very interested to read every single post regarding my device. But, i have noticed that information is scaterred around and hard in getting the wide picture for starters.
I also intend to contribute to this post in order to provide the newcomers with needtoknow information so they can one day prove useful to this community, being "spoon-fed" early may develop solution-providers later.
Thank you for your interest.

new here would like to know if any one could help me find a program to take out the useless programs on my cingular 8525 and if any one knows how to change the splash screens
thanks
Welcome.
Welcome to the forum. There is alot of useful information here. The first thing is to get to know where and how to use the phone from front to back. You should start by reading the wiki. Everything you would ever want to know is there. As for changing things around on your phone, you should learn about it first. Last thing you would want to do is mess up your phone by not knowing and understanding what your doing. When in doubt dont do anything unless your sure of it. Also use the search button, it will be your best friend in time of need.
Welcome on board bubba433.
nyc_medic's advice is good. Particularly as removing pre-packaged applications from your phone is not as straightforward as it sounds as it requires changes to be made to the extended rom - that's quite a learning curve.

Im just making my first program, and throwing myself in teh deep end, with no experience whatsoever. But its great fun [when not frustrating]
Im using c# and VS2005 professional edition, and ive basically created my user interface, with 3 numericupdown boxes, i want to out put those values into a text file for another file to read.
All methods from the internet havent worked, and give random errors, possibly because of my lack of experience, and i have no idea where to put them, but i think ive been doing it right. And i have searched here aswell, but it seems that its more where people post programs rather then beign about development.
If you can help, but need more information please pm me, its just that id rather not share the whole infomation with everyone [not that i dont trust you]
Thanks to you all
Rory
File management is in System.IO. In there, you have the File class.
There are a bunch of HowTo's there. One of them explains how to write to a file.
What errors are you seeing?
thanks so much..
Finally solved my problem, and my msdn library doesnt have that in it.. hmm
Might be back soon with more problems
lol
Thanks
Rory

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to let you know I've started playing around with HaRET on my new shadow. So far HaRET is able to start, correctly identify the hardware, and I'm able to connect on port 9999 to do some diagnostics on the device.
Next step will be to cross compile a kernel using some of the instructions for similar HTC devices and see if I can get a linux kernel to start booting.
There's going to be some work necessary to make this thing useful under linux. Someone will need to figure out a way to map the keyboard to do t9 like input. We'll have to see if the gsm hardware and wifi hardware are the same as some of the other models too.
I don't have a ton of time to do this, so progress will probably be very slow, but I just thought I would throw this out there in case anyone else is interested in looking at it.
I'd donate if -myHTC- and ND4SPD join together and create something out of this.
If we can all figure out a way to help each other out on here, the final product can be amazing.
im ready to donate as well.
im not very savy when it comes to roms and development but i can help with what i can!
Sure, I'd love to work on this. But I don't know anything really about linux/android...I can port stuff, so I might be a little usesful, especially since the HTC G1 has been released.
Hello everyone. I am a second year electronics student and am now working for my General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL). I am looking at having to memorize the answers to just under 700 questions. Its rather tough lol. The reason I am here is simple. I have searched and searched and have not found any software for my touch pro that will help me study for this test. I don't know how to write programs but I know that many of you out there do a phenomenal job. I am looking for someone that would write a program for me that would quiz me on all the questions for the GROL. In fact I believe that if one where interested in making a few dollars he or she could go all out and make a program that creates a full exam from the test question pool, then watches which ones the user gets wrong and makes sure to ask them more often. It would also be cool if a pop up window came up explaining the proper answer. I also think it would be nice to have a screen at the end showing results. I know at first this seams daunting but I do have software that came with my book that is close to this and could send you a copy. Also, the entire question pool is listed on the fcc website. It wont let me post the link here but if you contact me by email i can find it for you.
The GROL only requires sections 1 and 3. The only other program similar was marked at $40.00 and for the pc. Nothing has been found for the PPC where it makes the most sense. During random downtimes a person can do a few random questions here and there. I believe that if made to look nice with a nice touch style interface someone could post this to windows marketplace and sell it for $20.00 easily and make some nice cash on it. I would learn to program and do it myself if it weren't for the fact that I am in class now and need it ASAP.
Thanks in advance for all that entertain the thought of taking this on

It's not exactly what you said, but maybe you can use SuperMemo UX & SuperMemo Mobile. It's free software, but you will need to build your own course.

I know this is an older post. And I knkw what you mean, and are talking about. I am changing career fields into Avionics, and a classmate has an app for his (cry)Phone. But in the Google Play Store, they have some, but they are expensive for what it is ($19.99 and $12.99). I can't find anything except crApple. Absolutely no Android. I can't even find anything where someone ported the CD that is in the book over to Android and other platforms. I have coppied the files from the CD to a folder on my computer called "GROL." So I didn't have to have the CD in my computer the whole time. I'm going to graduate at the end of this month, and I only have Element 1 done. Partly its my own fault for waiting until now. But either way, I'll have 3 & 8 done. But it would be nice if I could take the studying with me when I have life going on and not by my computer. Lol
Android surpassed crApple, and yet we still get kicked to the curb.
