Video unavailable in browser - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quite often when I click on a video in the web browser on both mine and my wife's nexus 10 I get the message "The video you are trying to play is currently unavailable. Please check back soon ". This happens in both the fenix twitter apps inbuilt browser and chrome browser. Both tablets are running the latest lollipop 5.01 with all apps up to date. If I try the same video in fenix and chrome on my nexus 5 running lollipop and on my wife's galaxy ace II runing jellybean 4.2 it plays correctly so it seems specific to the nexus 10. I have searched the internet but cannot find any mention of this issue with regard to the nexus 10.
Does anyone else have this issue and is there a solution?

No idea and Firefox?

Do a search & find the old, "obsolete" Flashplayer apk. It's floating around. It's not supported anymore but I saved it & still flash it. I believe the last one was Flashplayer 11. Chrome & stock browsers don't support video anymore. Or, as above suggests, just use a browser that supports it.

If chrome doesn't support video anymore how come they all play fine in chrome on my nexus 5? I have tried Firefox and it gives a different error "The video you are trying to watch is using the HTTP Live Streaming protocol which is only supported in iOS devices".
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

After much more investigation it appears the http live streaming is broken on the nexus 10 at least in lollipop 5.01. I have tried the same videos on several android devices using Firefox , chrome and dolphin and they play fine on them all except the nexus 10. They will play using flashplayer in dolphin but i want to stick with chrome. If you go to the following web page http://www.jwplayer.com/html5/hls/ and test the videos they do not play at all on both my nexus 10s. If anyone is running KitKat on there nexus 10 (without flashplayer) still could they test these please.

Hi Khaon. Are you saying its working correctly on your nexus 10 running lollipop 5.02? Mine is still on 5.01 and I cannot find any reference to a 5.02 update for the nexus 10? Thanks for your response.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

Indeed it does play. I am running cyanogen. Nightkies are official by now if you prefer them over my builds.
However now I don't remember if everything was really smooth and not lagging.
Sent from my Xiaomi MI2s

I'm just on stock lollipop which is 5.01. Maybe it will get fixed when google release the stock 5.02 update. In the meantime it would be appreciated if anyone else running either stock kitkat or lollipop could go to http://www.jwplayer.com/html5/hls/ and see if the test videos will play on their nexus 10.

Is there nobody out there running stock lollipop who can help me and try play the videos on this website http://www.jwplayer.com/html5/hls/ in chrome.

Flash 10.2 update is out!!!

Hello Xoomers! I just noticed an update for Adobe Flash player 10.2! The marketplace states that the update takes advantage of multi-core processors and includes other performance improvements. Checking it out now.
I think it's been out for weeks now

No... that was the beta.
This is 10.2 and flash sites that used to lag before are very smooth now.
you should be able to run anything in flash now i.e. facebook games and other things like that

that was "beta".
I did a clean install after flashing my Xoom last night. I installed Flash 10.2.157.10 then and just now I got a notice that Flash 10.2.157.51 is out.
So its a new update...
a lot of mention of "Android 3" in the update description. I guess they mean Honeycomb 3.0

I just got my Xoom today, Android market report the Flash as 10.2.156.12.
Hopefully this will change soon. Im located in the UK.
The update does show up on my Galaxy Tab running 2.2
Update:
the newer version is now available for the XOOM. but flash in Opera mobile browser don't work any more.

Android 3 = Honeycomb 3.0. What's wrong with calling it Android 3? We call all other phones with Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 etc.. We're on 3 right now lol.
I'm only seeing the beta app for honeycomb. Not anything new.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Definitely a difference. Amazon Prime videos weren't working before and are working now. Some Flash games had updated recently and broken and are working now and with better performance.
Great, I can download 10.2.157 on my thunderbolt, but it doesn't show up on my xoom
well the best features from this update
wont be available until google updates honeycomb apparently.
people whose update isn't showing up..
restart your xoom, then immediately go to the market
then hit my apps and your update should show up in the left
i got the update today,it says the hardware accelerated flash was for 3.1 only, but it runs flash way smoother now then before, also flash doesnt drain the battery as much as it did before
Sweet! Thanks for the heads up OP!
this updated a big improvment if you let your gf play fb games on the xoom
all the popular fb games work perfectly now

Yep. Hate to get all pedantic but it's either Android 3/3.0 OR Honeycomb. The number is a version of Android OS, Honeycomb is just the codename for it.

plus our software is listed as 3.0.1
so maybe it was a typo by them saying 3.0.1 lol
if motorola updates the xoom software, i wonder if the google version will even change
I hope someone patches this new version quickly with the hulu fix!

Bad flash performance since ICS, look here!

Since ICS update to Transformer 720p flash is completely unwatchable on my Asus Transformer.
After googling a bit I found a bug report in Adobes public bug db with a confirmed problem, GPU acceleration is not enabled.
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3099866
However, Adobe isn't planning on fixing it because of lack of time.
Please register on the bug tracker and press vote, if enough votes come in the issue might be prioritized.

I don't have problem with 720 flash youtube videos.... Stock ICS
I already voted.
Have been experiencing problems on every variant of the stock browser (ICS+, Dolphin and vanilla stock) despite doing a complete wipe prior to updating.
FWITW, Opera updated their client and flash plays nicely on 720p.
Don't know how Opera can make this work and stock doesn't....

HTML5 is not a solution yet. Flash is critical for things like twitch.tv. Nothing bugs me more than apologetics trying to dismiss the lack of Flash because "HTML5 is the future", this is the same thing Apple users have done for years while Android users have mocked them.

I also have problems, but only when I try full screen mode. Otherwise it works fine.

Couldn't agree more! I use my tf for a bit of stream browsing on twitch.tv and it bugs me as hell that while everything was fine and dandy under HC it is now crap.
I can confirm that windowed mode works after dolphin's upgrade yesterday but fullscren is still not there. It's like it opens on a "ghost" window somewhere and you can't focus on it to bring it to the front.
Finally can others please try opera to see if this resolves the issues? (Their latest changelog speaks specifically about adding flash functionality for 4.x devices)

In my daily use, it is even better than 4.2 and 4.3...
Games runs more smooth and without any lag,
But remember, its an alpha build (CyanogenMoD features wasn't ported yet) and it haves bugs and graphical glitches...
Benchmarking, I got 10058 points (versus 6880 in Stock 4.1.2)
Press thanks button if you liked the video
Hopefully p5110 version will be released soon
Screencast?
Thanks for the video! Does inbuilt screencast work on this KitKat Rom?
Cm 11 is cool, hope Cody can fixed the orientation glitch and Screenshot bug also BBM blackscreen..beside that this ROM was great
Errors found on the early build of CyanogenMod 11 on the Tab 2 7"
1. Black boxes appear when browsing
2. Screen rotation bug
3. @Narciso Neto , when i play 3d games like Modern combat 4, I get lags which is very unlikely on CyanogenMod 10.2 ...can you please tell me how you got it to run smooth.....
Other than that KitKat is Very Very VERY AWESOME!!!!!! UI is DARN SMOOTH but gaming performance........that is where it lacks i guess.....but really do hope they fix this

1. This error shows up in every app that uses browser interface (Instagram like page, GNow, BBM etc), there must be and error with rendering but it should be fixed
2. Should be fixed also (not a big deal)
3. I never palyed MC4 on my tab, but less-hardcore games like GTA III, ShadowGun Deadzone, Dead Trigger got and improvement on perfomance...
KitKat drivers for our GPU (PowerVR) isn't out, and maybe never be released, but I think gaming will be improved also, and get even better than JB's

I think Koush built screencast feature for 10.2, the tree was implemented into 10.2's main branch some weeks ago. Take a look at this:

Kit kat is really pretty. I'll install it later
yes is smooth but is experimental some bug not fixed i ty all 3 version ...internet navigator bug.. no button to close all active app ...rotation animation bug some flash video bug and freeze device but system is good in autonomy this is so positive too...

Official CM11 wasn't released yet, so there's a LOT of features and simple thing (like this loved button) from CM10.2 that's missing on these builds (because wasn't ported yet)... But they will return, let's just keep calm and enjoy all KitKat glory :cyclops:

I received the update in the morning. Have used the tab briefly 15 min after update. The display quality has improved, it appears more crispy, colors are more vibrant. One thing noticeable is, it is blazing fast. Have played NFS most wanted for few minutes, and it was a piece of cake.
Will spare more time with it in evening.
blazing fast..
Blazing fast android 5.1 played several games like asphalt 8.. And believe me guys not a single lag + better graphics than kitkat....☺
benchmark
Antutu score 39839
Browsing in Google chrome is also buttery smooth
Got it today, the update needs a lot of time, cause of many reboots for optimizsation of all installed apps. But finally it works.
awesome got min today aswell.. never thought this tablet would get it hahah.
It's taken me flashing back stock recovery (quite reasonably since wouldn't install with TWRP as others have found) and taking off the excellent Shaky kernel (and actually reinstalling a full stock system since my wifi wasn't working when I just flashed the stock kernel back) ... and I'm all upgraded and good to go . Pleasant surprise for a Friday, since like many I'd given up expecting the upgrade!
Is it just me or does the upgrade kill internal memory?
Any one sight laggy menu ? For me L brings tons of lags...
why cant I access internal memory ...!!!

I played with my tab for 5 min . This morning before heading out to work. It seemed a lot smoother . No factory reset or anything. Tab is cooler ,didn't feel it heat up sometimes like I had lately . Small things like Google on tap ,different bolder clock font noticed also .All I got so far .

Well, at last, the constant screen redraws have disappeared. And DOZE seems to work, as advertised. All in all, the 9 is now the tablet it should have been last year. It works.
I am on LTE and got the OTA update yesterday
However, it WILL NOT install. I keep getting an error message when it tries to install.
I have stock Nexus 9 LTE with no custom roms or anything.
Might a try a factory reset see if that works.
is doze need to be activate or its automatically activate

I've got marshmallow on my Nexus 9 (WiFi) and I believe it's significantly smoother. I can't say for sure since I've only used it since I got the prompt to update my tablet on August 8th.
Battery life seems to be a bit better. Of course going through the permissions and turning off permissions that were unneccesary for certain applications may play a role in better battery life (since location, etc. won't be used, for example). Hope this little comment helps anyone out!

What build are you on?,I don't think Google will push M to you unless you've got the latest build which is LMY48T.
As soon as I side loaded the LMY48T build the Marshmallow update message came through instantly,I'm using the nexus 9 WiFi model in the UK.

Yeah, they have the same build number,LMY48M is the build immediately before LMY48T,this is most probably why you've not had M pushed to your device yet,you should do what I did, sideload the LMY48T update zip via ADB,you should then receive the Marshmallow update OTA from Google.
