toshiba encore, bios/Android

hey guys i have a Question... i have managed to boot android on a USB Stick and At start up "bios" i can pick that to boot from, no emulation just android standalone, any one know if you can do this on a toshiba encore, im not sure how you would get to the Bios on a windows Tablet...
Also is there any USB to Bluetooth Converters?
cheers craig.
Most of the windows tablets either require a keyboard connecting on startup or a combo of the windows button + a volume key to enter BIOS.
As for USB to bluetooth, 35 billion results on google werent enough? They are *very* common, cheap too.

i ment if i were to install Android to a Micro SD, "like i did on my Desktop, and made a dual boot and windows but on a HDD" would i be able to boot from it? ie what about the touch drivers would there need to be support or would it run all ok? im guessing someone would have to make drivers for it to work?
cheers craig.
You didnt mention anything about installing android to microSD, just asked about bluetooth and opening the BIOS.
Atom does not support booting from SD.
There are a few devs working to build kernel and build for Asus t100 and dell venue 8 pro.
Do you think their work and progres can be applied on the toshiba Encore according the same bay trail CPU that have in common ?
INstall Android 4.4.x on Encore Dual boot
This is totally Experimental
"i 'm not responsible of any thing "
So Backup first
&
then
First of all you have to Disable Secure Boot
Run these commands in an elevated permissions Windows command shell:
powercfg /h off
manage-bde -status c: (checks bitlocker status)
powershell
PS C:\> Disable-BitLocker -MountPoint "C:"
manage-bde -status c: (after above command finishes, makes sure your disk is really decrypted.)
then disable from boot menu:
to do this:
first shutdown tablet
press vol + & power down to enter boot menu
select setup & disable secure booting
& download Android image for your BayTrail tablet;
https://01.org/android-ia/downloads
After this Follow INTEL official Guide
https://01.org/android-ia/guides/quick-start
Report if Helped;
*Edit: the Android Image provided by Intel is 64bit but most of Our devices have 32bit UEFI, Because of this Image not booting up, As our Devices supported 64bit so Ask toshiba to release A 64bit UEFI for Encore, Or have to wait till Console OS launch publicly
hi umar_fiaz
not directly related to this as i dont want to do a dual boot, (i cant even image my encore), however if i could though id happily put android onto it also..
just wondered if you could look at this which i posted elsewhere, and give me any advice, thanks
i have an encore. i recently selected the option to delete data and partitions, via the maintenance utility, thinking i was restoring it to factory defaults. i didnt make a recovery disk. i didnt think id need one.
aps2.toshiba-tro DOT de/kb0/HTD4103K90000R01.htm (edited ink to enable posting)
in the lnk above you will see the options listed at "2. Booting to the boot device menu", and i now have nothing present here. i cant boot to usb which is what ive been trying. ive tried w8 images prepared with pendrivelinux DOT com/ (edited ink to enable posting), plus ubuntu and xubuntu and i can not get the encore to read any usb images.NOTHING ever is read by the encore at thuis option after pressing volume up/power
i know there is this situation with intel bay trail and uefi booting, but i really dont understand this, and ultimately i just want an answer on how i can image the thing with w8, or even a linux flavour that is stable, i dont mind
could you please help me with advice and steps on how to get the encore to read a suitable image so i can at least use this thing
much appreciated

Okay so for anyone with an encore with the "baytrail" soc and a 32 bit efi only bios or really any bay trail device with a 32 bit efi only bios... I spent my day reading into this dilemma and I managed to boot a modified 64 bit efi of grub with a 32 bit bootxxx.efi (bootia32.efi) and I got grub to boot the live cd of android x86. of course I haven't got passed the blinking cursor but hey I GOT INTO GRUB TO BOOT THE LIVE CD/INSTALLER. Therefore we theoretically have a way to install android, Ubuntu, etc. Now im gonna try to modify the android on intel image (4.4.2_r1-ia2) so it can boot the installer as well. I will report back on any progress.
P.S. I know this post is sloppy but I just want people to know it is POSSIBLE to boot android.
managed to boot Android on Toshiba Encore but when loaded screen goes blank
android-x86-4.4-r2.img from http://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-4-4-r2
I think a supported kernel & drivers for Encore will fix that,....
Any help will be appreciated

[Q] REEDER W7iC TABLET=EMDOOR EM-I8170 WINDOWS 8.1 TABLET WON'T TURN ON

Hi,
Sorry, for my poor English. I'm from Turkey. I bought a Reeder W7iC windows Tablet in Turkey. It's the same EMDOOR EM-I8170. I installed the wrong bios file, while android trying to install. Now, tablet won't turn on. Back light is on. I connected keyboard and mouse on usb otg. It all works. l I found the original bios file. How do i run again it? How do i install android? Thank you in advance for your help.
Tablet specifications:
Intel Baytrail-CR Z3735G, Quad Core
1GB DDR3 FLASH 16GB
Windows 8.1
16:9, 7" 1024*600 IPS
Does it have hdmi? Then connect it to a monitor or tv. What happens if you keep pressing both Vol- and Vol+ and then power on the tablet?
Please send a link to the correct bios, then I can try to make a bios flash package for a usb pen drive.
Yes it has hdmi. I connected to tv. I keep pressed Vol+ and vol- and power on the tablet. dnx mode on the tv. Then, what will i do?
I can't write outside link because i'm new users. [*] is [.]
Correct bios file link:
www*reedertablet*com/reeder/yazilim/reeder_w7ic/bios/ReederW7iC_BIOS_UPDATE_V1.6.8.zip
I want to install android.
EM-I8170 Android Files is here. There is bios file, too. I think for android.

How can i install android to tablet? Thanks for reply.
Ok sounds good. So first thing to do is to flash the original bios/firmware. I will prepare a package in the next half hour. You need a usb hub, a usb stick, a keyboard. Power off the tablet now and try to enter bios menu (press del or escape or f12) and post which bios version is installed. Best is to post a photo. PS: I don't own this tablet and will only help you to recover it with the original bios.
I'm at work right now. I can try them when you get home in the evening. I'll write the results.
Assuming you could enter bios and you have a USB hub, usb stick and keyboard, then you can flash the original bios as follows:
============
Flash new bios
============
1. Connect the USB hub to Reeder tablet and plug in the keyboard and the USB thumb drive containing the new bios files. Power on the device and press DEL or Escape to enter into BIOS.
2. Navigate to "[email protected]", and then choose "Launch EFI shell from filesystem device"
3. After entering shell, type FS?: and then press ENTER
( ? stand for a numeric character. It depends where your USB drive resides, for example, if your USB drive is at FS4, you type FS4: You can always try between FS0 and FS4 )
4. Then type dir and then press ENTER to check if you selected the correct drive
5. Type fpt32.efi -f ReederW7iCBIOS_V1.6.8.bin and press ENTER
6. Type fpt64.efi -f ReederW7iCBIOS_V1.6.8.bin and press ENTER
(PS: you may get an error after either running fpt32.efi or fpt64.efi, but make sure at least one of the flash commands succeeded !)
7. Type exit and press ENTER
8. When you return to BIOS, choose "save changes and reset"
Good luck!
Note1: there is a readme.txt which describes how to install dual-boot Android/Win8.1 on a Voyo A1 Mini (also a EMDOOR tablet). This may be helpful for you to install Android on your tablet.
Note2: if you can't enter BIOS then we must try to flash your tablet using DNX protocol
I tried what you wrote. It installed bios from fpt64.efi. Installation completed. I selected Save Changes and Reset in Bios Menu. Frozen in bios menu. I closed the tablet keep power button. It won't turn on. Now, backlight is off. I think it hard brick. Is there anyone who can help me?
I connected to the tv with hdmi cable. Nothing happened.
Are you sure that bios was the original version? Check if battery is charged and also if you can still enter dnx mode.
İt was original bios file v1.6.8. Battery is full. I can't enter Dnx Mode. I connected it to pc. My pc don't see it m3 or m6 chip also. I think it isn't hard brick. It is Deep Brick.
Try also power on with only Vol+ pressed, alternatively with Vol- pressed. It could be it will then switch to 32-bit mode. Otherwise try disconnecting the battery from the mainboard and reconnect after a minute. If that doesn't help you must buy a flash programmer. There are various at Alibaba for about 30$ with cable connectors for on-board programming.
I tried vol+ or vol- and power button, vol+ and vol- and power button. Nothing happened. I cannot try disconnecting the battery. Because i haven't soldering iron. I think i'll send service it.

Sorry admins but im replying here so the guy can know an answer! move the topic later
So i have a lenoxo Miix 2 which is very similar and after a lot of work, i've managed to put remix OS in dual boot.
You have to download EFI package from the REmix os Website, extract the img file and put the files in a FAT32 gb partition (make atleast 8gb) then using Easyuefi 2.2 ! (not 2.3) create an entry (linux or other) name it remixOS os whatever you like and browse/select the file in EFI / Boot / bootia32.efi press OK and close Easyuefi
Then reboot your pc/laptop in "BOOT mode" in my lenovo i have to hold volume up and power button for like 5 sec and the lenovo boot menu will appear, from there go to boot menu and select remix os, hopefully it will start and you can ue both resident or guest mode, hope this help, otherwise check youtube for EFI tutorials
Ok during week end i tested remix os on USB ( UEFI version ) with a standard PC with keyboard and monitor, and i could boot to the OS
then i try to use the same USB stick on lenovo thinkpad 8 but i couldn't go farther then resident / guest. I could move selector up and down with volume keys but wasn't able to select ( i try with power button but did not work ) probably I need an USB HUB and a keyboard. I can try as a test but is nothing i can use in real life
I also try to write remix OS on micro SD. Software inside the zip file was able to write the .img on micro SD but i couldn't boot from it
Still wrong section, its about jides own remix tablet
thanks
It's work thanks, but WiFi not work . :good:

Who can help for us.
My wifi not work
Lenovo take care only about Windows.
I can't boot Remix OS 32-bit.
Asus Vivotab Note 8 it can.
I think people, who have 64-bit UEFI can boot Remix OS 32-bit.
Hi, are you able to boot remix os in lenovo thinpad tablet? after selecting the remix os using volume up and down keys are able to boot? if so how did you do that?

i think you are using a bad program for making a bootable iso.the best program i think its rufus-1.3.4 for making a bootable iso win10 or win7 i will attached it here for you.i hope it will help.
just unzip the file and run the program after you insert your usb drive or sdcard
If the BIOS is well set and the flashable USB is ok (Rufus or Media Creation Tool -> follow online guides) turn poweron the notebook and by pressing F9 with the pendrive inserted select the last option "USB Hard Drive - SanDisk Cruzer Blade" than the Windows 10 logo should appear immediatly, and than the Win 10 installation menu.
Download the latest version of the BIOS and UEFI firmware on your PC, and unplug all the other USB drives connected to the device.
Will on windows, open pendrive and execute setup.exe. Check if start.

I'm back,
this tutorial worked like a charm for me at this hour: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-pass-safetynet-on-rooted-android-12/
But I did pass the safetynet earlier, it is just the application still gave me error 501, 172. I will try to include missing steps because some are the same as I performed and see if application will run.

Add Netflix to Zygisk DenyList (+ other services like in Droidwin post) and clear Netflix app data
Done that once again (cleared app data of netflix and google play store, google play servcies and google services framework).
Unfortunately right now it is stuck on logo, and did not give me the error yet. Which method have you used?
Rom works pretty good on my K1, much better/faster than stock. Battery drain is still there but is nowhere near as bad on a stock rom (I have a brand new battery installed).
For some reason the headphone jack is not compatible with this rom at all (plugging in headphones does nothing). Anyone else notice this?
