Just wondering what specs you guys want to see on the next Pure Google phone.

this topic would have been better suited if you posted it at Google's own forums for Nexus.
But just for fun:
any manufacturer
I'd go for anything that offers SAMOLED or SAMOLED Plus

Don't forget with that

Manufacturer: Samsung
Display: 4 inch, calibrated Super AMOLED+
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
Camera: Doesnt matter, I think the Nexus S's camera is good enough
Round corners, curves. Contour display.
1 GB RAM
16/32 GB ROM
SD CARD SLOT
4G
Build material: Plastic, but a little more grip at the back. Black.
The reason I am going for Samsung again, is because I like their hardware. As you can see the device I want looks like an upgraded Nexus S. I think the design of the Nexus S is fantastic, but a little more grip would do it for the back. Also, Super AMOLED+ got rid of many of the disadvantages Super AMOLED had, like PenTile. Only thing that bothers me is that the colors are a little bit too oversaturated. That is why I like LCD better, for now.
But it would be awesome if there was a way to calibrate the colors, so that you can choose normal (like Motorola Droid), oversaturated (like Galaxy S) or custom. That, with the advantages of LED, and no stupid PenTile, would be an awesome display!
Realistically, the next Nexus would probably be something like this:
Manufacturer: Motorola or HTC
Display: 4-4.3" 960x640 to 1280x720 resolution (either sLCD or sAMOLED)
CPU: OMAP4 or Tegra 2 for Motorola, QSD8672 for HTC (all dual core)
GPU: SGX540 for OMAP4, Adreno 220 for HTC
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-266
Storage: 16/32GB plus microSD
Camera: 8MP with flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1600mAh battery, ~9mm thick
What would I like to see (while still within the realm of reality)?
Manufacturer: HTC
Display: 4-inch 1280x720 (any sort of OLED, Sony is working on some nice displays)
CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual core)
GPU: Adreno 300 (200m+ tri/s)
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-400
Storage: 16GB (to keep costs down) plus mircoSD
Camera: 12MP microlense zooming with dual LED flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1800mAh battery, ~9mm thick
guys, what about a nexus from nokia?
now for me that would be a dream come true. the best combo of hardweare and softweare. it could be a great hit. i would love for something like this ro become a reality.
anybody agree with me on that one, or am i just a lone dreamer?...
on the other topic it was already said to be a joke only when he mentioned
but Nokia is indeed looking to partner up with other OS markers
but there are no solid confirmation if they are going one way or another
they basically opened the doors and are inviting prospective OS partners for their phones
don't be surprised to see a Nokia running Apple's iOS
but chances seems to be Nokia seems to be favoring Microsoft
however Android has the market dominance in the long run, it'll not be smart for Nokia to not choose Android and partner with Google
if they do, we'll most likely see "Nexus N"
I just hope the Nexus 2 will be made by a company with better outer casing

I guess so but there really is nothing bad with the shell of the NS. It only feels cheap because its glossy plastic. I've dropped my phone quite a few times and its never even chipped. I have no scratches on the screen or the back. I'm quite happy with the SNS and my only hope for the next Nexus is just that it be better than anything else on the market

However...

HTC Volantis tipped with a Snapdragon 810, 5GB RAM, 64GB storage, BoomSound, and more
Anybody heard about this beast or is this nonsense?
I'd say nonsense but who knows
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I kinda doubt it'll be a snapdragon 810... Qualcomm's website even says it won't be available till mid 2015...
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/810
" The Snapdragon 810 processor is anticipated to begin sampling in the second half of 2014 and expected to be available in commercial devices by the first half of 2015."
I'm betting on the K1 processor from Nvidia. But if it's the 64bit version it'll only be a dual core... Not sure how well most tablet apps and the Android OS is coded for 4 threads... So dual core may be fine...
3 or 4 GB would sound more realistic to me. Btw, if this device actually releases with a 4:3 display, I´m not going to buy it :good:

Yeah, most important specs are screen size and aspect ratio, if it is 8.4"+ with 16:10 ratio I am defintely getting it, but I won't ever buy a 4:3 tablet b/c how much I do video streaming on it.

Those specs are just a pipedream.
It was reported over 2 weeks ago on Android Police: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/21/this-is-volantis-htcs-nine-inch-nexus-tablet/
These specs are more realistic to me:
•8.9" Display at 2048x1440 (281ppi)
•NVIDIA Logan 64-bit processor (Tegra K1)
•2GB RAM
•16/32GB internal storage
•8MP OIS main camera, 3MP front facing camera
•Aluminum zero-gap construction
•Stereo front-facing speakers
•8.91"x5.98"x0.31" body (that's 22.63x15.19x0.79cm)
•418g (or 427g with LTE) (that's 14.74/15.1 ounces)
If it's the Tegra k1, benchmarks of the new nexus will blow everything out of the water... And wait till custom kernels with overclocking...
5 GB RAM.... I'm posting this from a PC with only 2GB of RAM xD Phones will be more powerful than PC's at this rate.
Wishful thinking has once again made it to the rumour mill, I see.
Fake.
No company is stupid enough to sell 5GB when there are none yet with 4GB. It makes more business sense to sell a 4GB one first. (same principle as why we've got 2K and now a few 4K tv's whilst they're already capable of making 8K for several years.)

Finally
I waited so long for this been rocking this galxy s3 all year waiting for the nexus 6.. I cant wait to have it in my hands...
Nexus 6 is pretty much heavy at 180g when Nexus 5 is 130g. Motorola Phones are usually heavy. For instance, Moto E is around 150g when it is a 4.3" device. I like the build quality of motorola phones though since the motorola L6.

AMOLED. That's a shame. So will burn eventually if I use it in a car for GPS (static screen elements, high brightness, high temperatures)
Specs directly from MOTO's site.
Qi wireless charging enabled! I wasn't excited about a 6 inch phone, but they've got some if the things I've been looking for, battery life (potentially) & Qi wireless charging. Plus the phone can be purchased directly from MOTO.

Nope, it's 32-bit since it uses Snapdragon 805. I would not worry about it though, it is a beastly SoC
It says the phone is water resistant
what is the difference between buying from play store and moto webiste?
Surprisingly no. The 805 is 32 bit. However, there's no apps that will take advantage of 64 bit in the mobile world. I expect that to change, but not for a while.
This is gonna be the best smartphone of the year

Hello
i have samsung s5 and i want to try another brand
which one is better zenfone 2 or the new one asus selfie
i prefer selfie because front camera came with flash and wide angle
but zf2 have 4 GB of RAM and selfie 3 GB
but which one have better CPU ?
It's hard to find any worthwhile comparisons. The selfie is considerably different in that it's not Intel based. You get an 8-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 with the Adreno 405 and 3GB RAM, although there appears to be a slightly cheaper 2GB model. Can't really compare CPUs because you didn't specify which ZF2 model. Some have a 1.8GHz quad core and others a 2.3GHz one. I couldn't really find anything comparing them anyway.
The GPU on the ZF2 appears to be quite a bit more powerful. It's supposedly very close to the Adreno 330. The 330 being the high end of the past gen while the 405 is the lower of the current gen. As for the 1GB less RAM, I wouldn't worry about that. 2GB is arguably enough as it is.
Pricing was hard to find too. As best as I can tell it'll be roughly the same same price as the 1.8GHz/4GB/32GB ZF2 model. All the other specs, except the front cam, look the same.
So far as I can see, you lose a little on the CPU/GPU/RAM but get a much better front cam. This is purely from a quick Google search session. Again, there are a lot of different ZF2 models, from a 1.8GHz/2GB/16GB/720p up to a 2.3GHz/4GB/64GB/1080p.
thanks but let us compare between zf2 Quad 4GB (Intel Atom Quad Core Z3580 (2.3GHz))
and selfie Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615
CPU Quad-core Cortex-A53 & Quad-core Cortex-A53
is there any comparison between this different cpu brand?
Selfie has 4G available on both sim slots, ZF2 doesn't even support data on second sim.
All i could i think of:
Pros of the selfie - Removable battery, great selfie cam with flash, laser autofocus, corning gorilla glass 4
Pros of the zenfone 2 4gb (intel atom z3580) - faster cpu, better general performance, great gpu.
Cons of the selfie - SD 615 performance doesn't even match up to the lower end zenfone 2 with the z3560 chipset, weak gpu, bigger than the zenfone 2
Cons of the zenfone 2- lacks all the pros of the selfie
Since you are coming from an S5 i think you value a removable battery but that's up to you.
