Root SMT330NU with Lollipop 5.1.1
Is this possible yet? I tried CF-Root using both Odin 3.7 and 3.10 and it just bricked the device after it said "Pass" then rebooted. Each time it got stuck on the Samsung boot screen, but never booted up to anything else. I have all newest drivers, and only want Root access, as close to stock as possible. Is there a safe method yet, or is Towelroot able to do it?? Need help PLEASE!
Galaxy Tab 4 Root
First time poster, So I've tired a lot of different things to root my SGT 4 7.0 but when I check on root checker, the app says my tablet is not rooted. -- Odin says it passed. My recovery installed properly,I've loaded SUPERSU, but I cannot seem to get past that part. SuperSU says I need to update my binary, but when I try doing that, the app hangs and says installation failed and i need to reboot. Please help!

Were you using superSU version 2.46, or an earlier version? If you were using an earlier version, try it again with supersu v2.46. If this failure happened with 2.46, try supersu v2.49 instead
Thanks, I'll try 2.49. If it doesn't work, I've also read that I have to downgrade the firmware. Would you recommend that option instead?

That's only the case if you're trying a one-click root method such as towelroot or kingroot

Rooting my device
Hello,
I am going to purchase an S4, I9505 and I would like to root the phone, just simply because I want to remove a bloatware apps and gain true control of the device.
My question is - if I follow the instructions in the first 3 posts to letter, how much is the chance to brick the phone? The phone is already on 4.4.2. Do I need to do anything else, or just follow the guide?
I know its a silly question, but I am going to spend some money on the device, and don't want to brick it...
Thank you in advance!

0,0000000001%. It's almost impossible to brick your phone.
Root have stopped working.
I9505, 4.2.2, XXUAMDE.
The phone have been rooted for more than a year.
Yesterday I tried "Wondershare\Dr.Fone for Android" as some smemo have been lost. Im not 100% sure this is why the root was lost.
Today I downloaded CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 and re-rooted using Odin3.
The process seemed to run fine - but SuperSu cant start - get the "no binary fil installed" error.
What can I do?

Will CF Auto Root work on an S4 (Android 4.4.2) with the baseband version I9505XXUGNJ3? I really can't afford a new phone but I want to root this one so I'm taking as many precautions as possible. Thanks.

I would install a custom recovery and get the root access through this one. Everytime I made that this way, works pretty good. I'm always using philz touch recovery

Hi!
I am willing to root my Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (brand-Vodafone Italy and running XXUGNJ5 firmware) using CF Auto-Root, in order to flash TWRP and Google Edition ROM on it.
It is not a network-locked smartphone, but just "branded" (it gets some easily uninstallable Vodafone bloatware each time I update it via OTA, however I can use whatever SIM I want in it): is it risky for me to root it using Chainfire Auto-Root?
Rooting a nordic s4
I got a nordic s4.
Xxugnj8 4.4.2. I OTA 1 week ago.
Will it work to root with the correct file from CF webpage?
And what will happen with that knox thing? I dont use knox and i disabled what i could so far. I jist want root. Dont wanna mess around with kernels and roms. Cause of bad experience.
I read some people gets random reboots and so.
Rooted s2 long time ago and bricked it cause some bug.
Then rooted a s3. Worked with a charm with cf autoroot.

Rooting I9505G running LRX21P
Hi all,
I tried rooting my I9505G running Lollipop 5.0.0 LRX21P. I used ODIN and CF-Auto-root. SuperSu now wants to update, but the update fails.
I later realized that the CF version I used was not meant for Lollipop. Thankfully, my device is still working normally.
Any ideas on how to root?
Thanks a ton!
Hi, I'm new to Samsung and just wanted to know if anyone has been able to successfully root XXUFNC5? I got 4.4.2 and Knox running on it.

bootloop

i use Nexus Root Toolkit(NRT) 2.0.4 to recover from the trouble. N4 is now back to normal.
"Flash stock + unroot" function
"Soft-bricked/Bootloop" option
Does this exist? I have found a TWRP for a regular T330, but not the T330NU. Basically I am looking for a way to get my 5.1.1 rooted. I know there is a method listed on this forum that involves installing a new kernal that is rootable, but once again, I need a custom recovery to even flash that file. Or do I? Any help would be highly appreciated. I apologize if this has been addressed, but after many Google searches, and even searches on XDA, i was not able to find any definite instructions on how to do this. I would happily downgrade to 4.4.2 Kitkat if thats even possible, but I hit a dead end there also trying to use ODIN to flash the stock 4.4.2 firmware. I made the stupid mistake of upgrading to 5.1.1, and now am suffering do to all the bloatware installed with it. Please direct me to the proper files i need to use to get my device rooted! I'm not worried about knox because it has already been triggered. I just dont understand how or where to get TWRP for my tablet because all the files I found specifically left the T330NU out of its list of compatible devices. I have tried Kingo-Root, KingRoot, and no success. Help, I need ROOT!
A TWRP build for the SM-T330 will also work on the SM-T330NU, so you can use this thread for TWRP. There is also Philz touch, a touch version of CWM which can be found in this thread. All that said however, there is only one way to root the SM-T330NU on 5.1.1, and that is the kernel method you mentioned, for which the thread can be found here

Ok... heres my next question? Do i just simply use ODIN to install the custom recovery, then use the custom recovery to flash that new kernel??? Because I still have the stock recovery on right now, and just need the basic instructions h on how to achieve this. Thanks

Yes I believe so, although the kernel thread should have instructions
Success with Custom recovery and Kernel Flash
Ok i performed the Kernel flash using Philz recovery... and flashed the SuperSU file posted on that thread. Now I ran a program called "Root Checker" from the app store and it says Root not installed... BUT when I run the SuperSU app it says "Super User Enabled" ... So am i rooted or not?? Is there another program i need to use to check root status? or am i done?...
***DUH, my fault... did not realize i needed to grant super user access to the program.... Did that and SUCCESS!!***
Thanks dude... you're very helpful and patient... Wish i had a customer comment card I could fill out about you!

Hello guys,
Please excuse my noobish question, but i need to find some good answer.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, model number SM-N9005 with Android version 4.4.2.
The phablet is rooted thanks to Towelroot. And from there i install Titanium Backup and many others intersting stuff that need/or not root.
I enjoyed Xposed and i'm thinking i want to enjoy CyanogenMod also.
Now ... my problems is that i am very confused about what i have to do next.
And after i spent some time to research this, i've come here for some guidance because i fell that i'm running in circle.
My questions are :
Do i have to upgrade to Lollipop first ?
Do i have to unroot from Towelroot and root again with Odin ?
As i saw that steps are as follow:
1. Need root
2. Install TWRP
3. CyanogenMod (as i saw 12 is the last and it's good for my device)
Many thanks !

1. Unique way to update to Lollipop (if you are rooted) is via ODIN. I don't recommend you update anyway. I still with android 4.4.2.
2. No. Only flash the new firmware via ODIN and root it then with ODIN too.
3. I don't recommend you install CyanogenMod if you are noob.
If you do want CyanogenMod, you only need to install TWRP, and then flash latest CM-12.1 nightly build in recovery. You do need to wipe /data first, though which means you will lose your apps and settings.
Always make backups!

So why do you dont recommend to me to upgrade to Lollipop ?
Is Kit Kat better at this time than Lollipop ?
If i will update via ODIN, is there a better way to do that ?
And ... Still have my question about what if i'll unroot (and how can i do that safe) and root it by examples via ODIN and then follow others tutorials with TWRP and CyanogenMod. I'm not confortable via ODIN (but if i find some good, trusted tutorials, i want to try it) because as i told you before i rooted my phablet, the easy way via Towelroot.

If you want a CM rom just flash recovery with odin. No need to root. Then backup your phone and flash the CM rom. No need to upgrade to lollipop either.
However if you want a lollipop TW based rom it's better to upgrade to lollipop first. Nevertheless you can still try lollipop TW custom rom without upgrading to lollipop first but some functions may not work well.
If you can root your phone with Towelroot and you don't want to use odin to flash the recovery, you may do so by dd with terminal emulator.

I've been searching the forum for a few days now looking for a thread to help me. While I did find people asking the same I didn't find any useful help.
I had my tab rooted with kingroot for a long time but a few days ago I tried installing a recovery so I could flash xposed but something went wrong an it got stuck on the yellow sprint screen so I flashed a stock firmware with Odin to fix the issue. However now it won't root using kingroot. Am I doing something wrong? Does anybody have another idea of how I achieve root/recovery an xposed? It's been a while since I used the tablet so the only thing I can think of is I had it rooted before the 5.1.1 update, I honestly cannot remember. If that's the case does anybody have a downgraded firmware?
The tablet is a sm-t237p running 5.1.1
Update
Update - I was able to downgrade to 4.2.2 an active root thru king root. Now how can I achieve recovery? All the recovery posts are for different models.

Root for the SM-T237P on 4.2.2 is indeed achievable by Kingroot>then SuperSume>then Clear all cache with SystemCleanup.apk>Freeze all System Update Apps. In fact, I actually used an app called Root Cleaner. However, in 5.1.1 the SuperSume method does not work. I am searching the XDA world over for a copy of the PhilZ Recovery. Without it, we are doomed on such a nice tablet. There is no CF-Auto Root or TWRP for this model. And the Cf-330 method is garbage(No offense to those people using it). The SM-T237P updated yesterday to a more secure 5.1.1 dated June 26. Does anyone here know how to get a copy of the PhilZ recovery?
