Best G3 rom for stability and battery life? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm downgrading from a g3 back to a brand new g2. I miss the form factor and the lag issues on the g3 is driving me nuts.
That said, I will be putting a custom rom on the g2 I get. I really like the look and feel of the g3 software I have. What, in your opinion, is the best g3 based rom for the d800 when factoring in stability and battery life?
Or is there a non g3 based room that you think is better?

For me cloudys g3 Rom is the best. It's stable smooth and very battery friendly.
I also tried optimus g3 Rom which is also a good Rom too but for me it started to lag after a month.
I used for both roms the dorimanx kernel which is in my opinion the best kernel for stockbased roms. You can tweak nearly everything and with the optimal settings your g2 ist buttersmooth and battery friendly.

I vote for cloudys g3 Rom too. It's smooth and fresh. I suggest to flash Dorimanx kernel and voala you'll get better battery.

Thanks guys. On my old G2, I installed Cloudy G3 and life was great. Then the phone refused to power on at all. I took it to ATT and they said it was completely dead and gave me a replacement and put cloudy on it again. Same thing. Completely dead. Wouldnt turn on, no power even if plugged in. ATT gave me a third and I left it stock and gave it to my wife. No problems.
It may have been a weird coincidence.. .. I will try again with my new G2. I did buy an extended warranty just in case.

So this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2725023
and this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783192 ?
So when I get my new phone, it will be NIB. So running 4.2. First thing I do is flash a new recovery. Which do you recommend? I also dont need to bother rooting the stock software to flash a new recovery right?
Then I:
Full Wipe (Dalvik, Cache, System & Data)
Flash KitKat baseband
Install the CloudyG3
Choose your variant in Aroma
Flash Dorimanx kernel (or should I wait to flash and boot the phone, run the setup for Cloudy G3. Once it is done, put back into recovery and flash the kernel)?

First install cloudy G3 after you'll wipe. Than make settings-->wipe dalvik cashe and cashe. Than flash kernel. I make it like that and have no problem.

[Q] Recommend a ROM

Hi guys,
My LG G2 (D802) is getting a bit old Instead of buying a new phone, I thought I'd prolong it's life a little by rooting it and installing a new ROM.
I like stock, but my battery life is much worse now than when I bought it.
Can you recommend a ROM for me? It has to be sort of stable for daily use. I guess the Lollipop ROMs are not stable yet?
Something like an "optimized" stock ROM + root etc. would probably fit the bill until stable Lollipop ROMs are available.
What would you recommend?
I recommend Liquid Smooth, the milestone version. One of my favorite roms.
If you tired of the stock rom.just try the cloudyg3 you will have a g3 experience in your compact g2
Just like to buy a new phone.
Its stable as rock (tested 1.3 and 2.0) didn't try the 2.1 yet..
When you Like Stock then you should check out cloudystock or cloudyg3 when you want aosp with more features and more designs then i would highly recommend you Mahdi Rom
Happy Flashing?
IOS.

[Q] Two questions about 5.0 ROMs

Hi,
I'm currently on stock 5.0 ROM (Simple ROM) but I prefer pure Android UI. I've got two questions:
Is there any fully-working and stable 5.0 ROM?
I'm on KK bootloader and TWRP 2.8.5.1 w/ Bump. Do I have to do anything if I want to flash non-LG 5.0 ROM?
No, you just have to find a Rom and install it through TWRP by factory reseting and installing zip + Gapps.
There are many different roms for the G2, if you like stock android UI with some little improvements, you have the well-known CM12.
If you prefer having a fast and smooth phone you might want to look forward on liquidsmooth.
If you're an addict of options and customization then the BlissPop rom is for you.
And if people likes the LG's stock interface they have simple rom (who can be coupled to GravityBox in order to be enhanced... ).
All those roms are still in devellopement, but honestly they have really good performance and the updates are now just some little things/bug fixes.
You first should look on Gravity Box + xposed who just realeased a LP version, might work on simple rom and add many things.
If you still don't like the improved stock experience you have all those other roms who have their specificies.
I'm currently running BlissPop and have to say that it's really well-made, but D802 has some problems with some builds causing bootloops, so not the perfect one indeed.
Just watch other threads and fine something that you'll like, feel free to ask questions...
So you say I don't have to flash JB bootloader, right? Just flash ROM using BUMPed TWRP and that's it?

No, no, NO! With some ROMs you NEED the JB bootloader, unless stated otherwise!
I made the same mistake and ended up with vertical black lines on the screen due to overheating upon hanging boot. So, even thought the ROM says it includes a bump-ed kernel, I would be really careful with KK bootloaders.

Actually for this simple/Grola ROM you need to be on bumped recovery and KK boot loader BEFORE flashing the ROM. You can flash back and forth between cloudy 2.2 and simple ROM, but aosp Roms in general require jb bootloader

need an advice from the true experts

guys i own a D-802 16gb lg g2 right now & im using the CloudyG2 3.3 rom but i feel like my phone is not doing what it suppose to do and capable of, i see lags and over heating except for the camera it's soooooo good . anyway i need to know from the true honnest experts what is the best rom i can install on this phone whatever stock, stock based or AOSP, CM regarding best battery life, best camera less heating and in lollipop version. can i found what i want !!!
just flash dorimanx kernel and set it up properly... (it has heat limiter)
camera on aosp/cm roms is worse than stock...
or you can flash full stock 30f rom by somboons (you can clean flash it over cloudy3.3, just don't wipe internal storage)
there is nothing wrong with your device/rom, you just have to set it up properly...

Fastest STOCK BASED ROM for LG G2

Hello everyone,
From few weeks Im using Cloudy G2 2.2 ROM + Dorimanx kernel with performance mode - and unfortunately this ROM is very slow, few days ago I bought another LG G2 D802 for my friend, it comes with android 5.0.2 stock. Of course this system is completely clean but difference with speed to cloudy g2 2.2 (andorid 4.4.2) is very big. This 5.0.2 rom is much faster, Im asking this question because i have read a lot opinion that older cloudy rom and older stock based roms are more stable and faster than lolipop. But now I see that is not true.
I need stock based rom because of camera (for aosp is very poor).
Which stock based ROM is fastest for LG G2? Thanks in advance for your opinions
cloudy 3.3 + xceed kernel imo
I will try this ROM, any other suggestions ?
From my experience the fastest stock based ROM on the G2 D802 is CloudyStock 2.7. Kitkat is much faster and memmory management is night and day comparing Kitkat and Lollipop. Stock Kitkat based ROMS are optimized to run much better on G2 than Lollipop ROMs. Its interesting that Cloudy 2.2 is running slow for you, maybe try to reflash and use the default kernel that comes with it without changing any kernel settings. This is the ROM I am using ATM and it is one of the fastest. Also try MIUI 7 based on stock Kitkat, Cloudyflex, Cloudystock as I mentioned and other stock Kitkat based roms if you want speedy and snappy performance. Cloudy 3.3 is also good if you want Lollipop but it will bog down after a while and only data wipe can restore its snappyness although frequent reboots can improove memmory management. Dont use Dorimanx kernel it always slows my phone down no matter what settings I use, IDK why. Also if you are using G2 or G3 tweaksbox try disabling it, some settings can slow down your phone. The same goes for Xtana and similar apps thet change systemui and framework apk. Unicon app for changing icons also slows down any OS. Try to run as stock as possible for the snappiest performance.
Good idea to disable g2/g3 tweaks - I will try it, As I remember, on original kernel system was similiar slow. Maybe I just need full format all data/syste/ etc and install clean rom from beginning. Also I will try to record speed of my phone just to comparsion, maybe it is normal but just for me means slow? I dont think so.

I dont think so either. Also when installing choose odexed in aroma, this also affects ROM speed, app openning speed and boot time. Deodexed is not necessery as you can easily theme anything with G3 Tweaksbox even if your rom is odexed. Try shuffling trough D802 development section and you will find a couple of great Kitkat based roms like Coqueror rom or stock 20f prerooted kitkat rom.

Sorry but it's not clear, you mean that is better to install odexed or deoexed rom on beginning?

Its better to install odexed ROM.
Best thing you can do really is flashing a non stock rom...the difference is insane. The major drawback is the camera...the quality is considerably lower. Battery life is more or less the same! Stock lollipop from LG is so bad...even with xceed kernel
You are absolutely right! I know this, camera is just one reason which keeps me with stock rom. I used cyan 11 before and diffrence was huge, I mean camera is so bad but speed sooo good. I think lg g2 is not complete phone for me because of this. Camera is something very important for most of the ppl, and this one for aosp rom is not even worth to rating...

Custom ROM Recommendations? (LG-D800)

So after dealing with a failed installation of PACMAN for my LG G2 and having to flash stock everything on get it working again, I'm still looking around for a good recommendation of any custom ROM for this thing. I'm on 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right now.
Modified stock is best. Custom roms are good to mess around with but I would never use one for me daily driver. You've already had first hand experience with how problematic they could be. If I were you I would update to lollipop(or not), root, autorec, and debloat everything you don't need. Then if you need some specific feature, mod, or app, add it as needed - the play store, this forum, and the xposed library have everything you could ever want. You have tons of options with rooted stock and it will be far more stable and have better performance than any custom rom.
I've been using Slimsaber as a daily driver, and it's fast, fine, and with great battery.

I was on Stock 30f debloated for a long time, and before that I was on CM11 Snapshot M9.
For the last few months I'm on Cloudy 3.3, I think of all the custom ROMs it is the most stable. I haven't faced any issues till now.
I will say go for Cloudy, but before you do you should take a full Nandroid backup of your current setup and save it on your PC. It's easier to go back if anything happens.
