ah well.......my 8013 bricked forever - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

I had Gnabo v8 running fine of my 8013. Then the battery started draining fast and would not recharge. I had the rom, SU, remove phone, and wifi fix all on my ext SDcard.
Wiped and reflashed all using Philztouch recovery.. Got back to KitKat but no wifi. Flashed the wifi fix again. Now unable to do anything. Can't get to recovery. Battery at zero, so can't use USB.
Oh well..........I am in the market for a new tablet. I might try the Note 12 pro, but not unless they release an official Lollipop version.

Try replacing the battery.
I've just replaced my N8000 battery & it looks like new now

There is always a way back. If you have odin you should be able to reflash stock with it.
If you are looking for a new battery take a look at

A hand full of people have been saying this is an awesome deal!

All fixed
Once I got my charger/cable problem fixed, I charged, reflashed Gnabo, SU, boot, phonefix, and wifi fix.
Back in business. Ordered a backup charging cable, since I know the one I have must be positioned just right
in order to maintain contact at a break in the wire.
Thanks for all the help/comments/advice.
What a great forum.

[Q] Battery is not recognized

Hi all,
Nasty problem with my 1 month old Motorola Defy+ (MB526)
Last weekend I installed ICS9 from Quarx (20120318 build). I did this using 2ndinit CWM. Made an android backup of my stock setup, I did this over my stock SBF 4.5.1.-134_DFP-74. Used the gapps.zip and battery fix.
The system worked pretty well, but time by time it was unstable. When turned off, it had lots of difficulty to boot up again, lots of reboots and 2-3 battery pulls.
I was planning to flash another ROM when I had the time. Yesterday it worked well, started fully loaded, used it as MP3 for long time, when I went to sleep it was 48% (the accu).
This morning, I stepped in car and phone turned out to be dead. Connected it to my car charger, and it came back to life. However, immediate reboot etc. So I decided to (while driving) put back my stock nandroid backup.
It all turned out well. Stock ROM booted but gave the notice (translation from dutch): "Battery of your device is invalid and cannot be charged. Replace the battery with a battery from your Motorola"
hmm, tried it with my USB cable at the office, and now at home again with the normal charger..
What happened? Any ideas on how to solve this?
The complication is that now my device is rooted and has 2ndinit starter, warranty is more difficult.
Solution: red lens battery fix
I’m not sure it’s exactly the same issue, but my Defy+ totally refuses to charge with Quarx CM9 build 20120318 + CM9 kernel from [1].
Unfortunately I noticed only once the battery was dead empty.
I couldn’t even get it to boot with the USB charger pluged in, and the only way I could get it to boot again was to charge my battery pack in friend’s Defy.
Then I applied the « Battery fix for red lens » provided here [1] which kind of fixed the problem. Now the battery charges again, but it won’t charge over 80/85%.
I had done a « Clean battery stats » from the boot menu after installing CM9 before this whole story, so I don’t know if it had any effect.
If anyone knows better please let me know!
The instability you noticed may be due to the Android debug bug… in CM9 builds. You have to leave Android USB debug (from System params->Debug features, translated from french on, otherwise it will lag like hell most of the time and drain the battery due to the init process eating up the CPU.

Hi, I installed the battery fix immediatly after flashing the Quarx ROM, so that should not be the problem.
In the meanwhile I have been trying some things with the battery calibration software. That one flawlessy sees that my battery is 100% charged (i did that using the mcguyver method). But, resetting the calibration file on the phone won't help.
In the meantime I have been able to delete all traces (2ndinit boot, titanium backup and unrooted my phone) so I am considering to RMA the phone, no matter the fact how long that is going to take..
Unless, someone here has a last excellent advice..

Great! You have just fried your battery (like a few others who tried going McGyver). Get a new battery now and don't use the McGyver method again
From what do you draw this conclusion?
The battery showed more problems BEFORE i used the mcguyver method than after. When the problems started I never even heard of the method. I used it to regain life in my mobile (which I am using atm) and charge the battery, which was succesfull. Charger over USB does not work (because battery is not recognized), but that problem occured before the mcguyver.
So until now for me it did not cause the problem, but it helped me to be able to use my phone again, much better than before. I performed the method very accurately and I am 100% sure it did not make contact with connectors it should not connect to.

Well now that your phone is alive, then go to stock and reclaim warranty! Do RMA.!
Yes I will, restored everything to stock and deleted trace from MicroSD.
But, I am still annoyed by the fact that my phone will be gone for 3-4 weeks

I understand that bro!! Even my phone was away for couple of weeks recently! Just pray they don't flash the latest SBF(BL7_ as they did in mine!
Does flashing a full sbf not work either? like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574651

Hi, this morning everything changed again, I decided to give it one more try with the latest Quarx CM9 nightly (20120330), wiped data, flashed nightly.zip, gapps and kernel but waited with the battery. After that I wiped cache, dalvik and battery stats.
Reboot and battery seems alive? very strange. But I don't want the kind of buggy CM9 builds anymore, so decided to put back my 2 hours old nandroid backup, using Restore.
Strangly, battery problem was back again. ****! Than just for fun I did data/cache/dalvik/battery stats wipe on stock, and that did not help either.
Now I am back on CM9 again, but thats running O.K. (battery is working!) but not stable enough for me. CM7 (cannot remember which build) gave the problem as well.
With the latter in mind I think (and thus agree with you) flashing a fresh SBF will probably solve the problem, but I am not 100% sure. I want to be able to put back my stock setup for possible RMA. My stock is 4.5.1.-134_DFP-74 and I cannot find that one on internet. And I cannot put it back to stock otherwise right?
The one Pranks gave you in your post (4.5.1-134_DFP-1321) is that a deblurred one? Because when I put a new one, I would like it to be a deblurred. I hate all the bloatware.
I have no idea, but I think he said it was from his own defy so I am guessing it the complete original blurred thing.
---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:31 PM ----------
I redid the cm9 flashing too and now at least it is telling me the battery is charging. But it stays stuck at a big battery icon and a red led is on.
Will see if it goes past that screen with a bit more juice.

Yessss, it started up!
All is fixed. I flashed the proposed stock non-fixed SBF and now running stock 2.3.6 without any battery problems. Excellent The SBF is rootable.
I removed BLUR by editing build.prop as proposed somewhere on this forum. you have to perform full wipe after editing the build.prop) I am very happy with me new DEBLURRED stock. Titanium can remove other bloatwhere like "cardiotrainer".
Happy

Nexus 4 turning off when unplugged from charger

Hey guys, i have been owning this piece of great phone for almost two years. But it never gave me a big issue.
Nevertheless, few months back i flashed cm12 and it worked great too.. I had been using it gracefully till i decided to update to cm12.1. So i decided to update, but the update always crashed google play services. The update did not happen automatically so i had to flash the zip through custom recovery (already installed) by myself.
I could not come out of that so i went ahead and did a full wipe and flashed cm12.1 along with gapps. Since then when i am unplugged it goes only to about few minutes (on battery) and shuts down. So, i now decided that this piece of update is buggy and did a full wipe and reflashed the original cm12 zip and gapps which i had placed in the first place. But, to my horror even this time it could not go past the bootscreen even and turns itself off when its about to start up. (Battery is full charged, did an overnight charge as well). One very unusual thing i noticed that almost all the the time i try to power it on it showed me "optimising app X of Y" which is weird. This kinda happens only on first boot.
But if i keep my phone plugged in to ac charge then it works fine.. but only last night it hanged and turned off even on charge. So there i decided that the cm thing is not for me. So i followed this tutorial and flashed the stock 5.1.1 rom (did a full wipe, tried oem lock and re unlocked and proceeded too).
But, i find the same problem same issue!! When unplugged my device, it just turns off even on full battery charge.
Can someone explain me the technical parts of the issue and what has gone wrong and how it can be fixed?
Please, Thanks
EDIT
Last time i locked - unlocked bootloader and proceeded with a fresh factory image flash, the device turned off on boot even when plugged in to my mac and it's hot on the back side
Sounds to me like there''s something physically wrong with the phone, probably the battery. Time for a new one anyway. Lithium batteries degrade with use. After ~500 charge cycles it'll have lost upwards of 20% of its original capacity and might show other signs of wearing out like inconsistent voltages. After 2 years of use, you'll be well beyond 500 cycles. A new battery off eBay is pretty cheap, and some sellers include the needed tools.Go to ifixit.com for a tear-down guide. A hair drier can help soften up the adhesive. The fact that it turned off despite being plugged in to your computer also points to the battery being toast - the USB amperage from a computer is less than the typical wall charger.
If it's not the battery giving you woes, I don't know what it could be.
And FYI, the whole "optimizing app" thing is the OS rebuilding the cache. When you flash your GAPPs package or a zipped Titanium backup it has to build the cache for the new apps. Same as when you do the "wipe Dalvik and cache" part of standard flashing procedure to avoid conflicts. In order for apps to load quickly, Android stores a lot of the necessary data in cache, so when you clear it or have new apps, it has to rebuild the cache. On Lollipop this takes a loooooooong time because of the way ART works.

How can i be completely sure that it's the battery which needs to be replaced? The battery shows charge. When i plug in and boot up it shows enough battery power left.
Currently, without external power it does not go past the google screen on boot. When i plug in power while device is off, the battery meter shows just a little depletion from full charge. When turned on, battery level is 82 %
After all , all this hardware mess up can be the consequence of a bad cm flash ?

I know this. Earlier it was happening on each boot. Now it seemed to be stopped.
By any chance did you have your phone charging while flashing and booting up your ROM?

Exactly same problem is started with my Nexus 4 ... I really wonder, what is causing this. Meanwhile, have it sorted for you ? is that hardware (Battery) issue?

I too am facing kinda similar problem.
It first started on my stock Lollipop 5.1.1. I had kept it on charge and when I removed it, it got switched off. Thinking that it might be just another of the multitude of bugs in Lollipop, since I already had lots of problems with it, I decided to flash CM 12.1 Stable on it.
Unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP recovery, created a backup (using TWRP), wiped data, cache, dalvik and started installing CM 12.1. Now comes the problem, I selected 'restart system' and it did restart and CyanogenMod logo was displayed for few minutes before the phone crashed. I switched it on again normally and the Google logo got displayed, and then again phone got off just after the Google logo. I tried flashing again by same procedure, but this time not even the Cyanogen logo was displayed. The Google logo got displayed and the went off.
Then I decided to restore the backup. Restored it but it still had the same problem at the startup Google logo.
Now I have managed to install CM 12.1, which works fine unless I don't open certain apps. When I open certain apps like Phone or Clock (those are some I have tried yet), it crashes the system.
This maybe a hardware or software problem, but pretty sure it isn't battery problem, coz it retains good charge when I switch it back on after crash.

Since you already unlocked the bootloader, and therefore already wiped everything, you could try flashing a factory image.
I also got the same problem. I thought this is battery problem, so I replaced the battery but problem still there. I thought this is problem of lollipop, never installed CM or anything. It is always running stock android. After that I even downgrade to Kitkat stock version still it is not working. One more thing I noticed is If I don't unlock the device than it will be powered on, but as soon as I unlock it and if it is not plugged in to charger it will be switched off. Any suggestion what should I do?
I have the same thing for several month now.
Always thought it is the dying battery.

Just tried flashing Lollipop 5.1.1 (LMY48I) factory image. The same problem still exists. Faced few weird problems on running the first time. Following scenarios explains it exactly...
Not On Charge: Crashes after startup Google logo
Connected to Laptop (USB Charge): Crashes a few minutess after entering "Optimizing apps" screen
On Charger (AC): Completed the install (optimizing apps and setup) without problems
Now I can access the home screen and menu without problems. But when I start any app, phone will go off. Not just apps, at times even when the recent apps menu is opened.

When you flashed the factory image did you do it via fastboot or by flashing a zip file. If you used the zip file I would suggest you do it with fastboot.

By "flashing zip" you mean using "fastboot update" command? ...If so, nope I didnt. I extracted all compressed files and then flashed each of the img's using fastboot. Flashed a total of 6 img files.

I m too facing the similar issues. Phone is getting turned off suddenly when not charging, on charging it is working fine. i have done factory reset and also done factory image reset to 5.1.0. i m still facing the same issues. I don't think so it is related to battery. if anyone have the solution then please let me know.

Try the very basic flash technique by double clicking the flash-all.bat. It's not the same as flashing the imgs one by one.
Battery is the issue. Get it changed. I also faced same problem, and visited LG service center and they changed the battery. Phone working fine now.

Ok so Battery was the problem!! Got it changed, phone working fine now. Thanx all!
Ok guys i confirm that this is a battery issue. I took it to the service center and the guy temporarily replaced battery to show me issue solved... But... there i saw another issue due to which i did not buy the battery. I saw half the touchscreen not working (including the navigation buttons ). The guy at the center told its a h/w issue and i would have to spend 7K on it so i left my phone dead for now. The Question is ... can this be a s/w issue.. or result of bad flash which can solve on reflashing ??
same problem with my nexus ,but one thing i noticed that the phone does not power off while in recovery...Any idea??

Note 4 diarrhea

Hi, I'm kinda lost ma mind right now.
Here's the story, my friend has note 4 SM-N910F Qualcomm , suddenly it began restarting with abnormal battery dropping.
I began repairing by trying to perform factory reset, to enter into a boot loop (without a root till the moment). Then I charged it fully which made it work.
I tried to root then install CM to replace stock rom (to repair any system issues), which was quite difficult, as I tried to install CM 12.1, it keeps fail due to incompatibility (the CM rom for trltexx and mine trlte as the root keeps shows me)
BTW the root I used was ( openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-trltexx.img.tar ) *yea it confusing*
Finally I downloaded official stock 5.1.1 , and installed it, it finished well and booted also quite well, as language selection screen appeared, same original issue reappeared again ( *keeps rolling in boot loop* )
Now I'm worrying about hardware malfunctioning.
:silly::silly::silly::silly::silly::silly::silly::silly:
I accidentally posted in Android development. so sorry
I've seen this issue on my friend's tab s. The screen would freeze then it would reboot. This got worse as the battery power doped to the point that swiping to unlock would cause a reboot. The problem turned out to be the battery. It may be worth buying a new battery for very little money to see if this fixes it.

Install Custom recovery thro' ODIN (philz_touch)
Flash Nameless Kernel v 6 thro custom recovery.
And I think you are done.
If you tried factory reset and flashed a fresh stock rom and its still happening, the battery is the problem and also check if there is a micro sd inserted. If so, remove the card and check.
No custom rom or kernal will be better since they come with thier own bugs and not as stable as official firmware period!

huge thanx

910F Won't charge if switched off.

Hi.
There are lots of issues about the note 4 not charging properly while switched on. I seem to have the opposite problem. I recently updated to Cpc1 firmware, and twrp 3. It works really well. Boots to download, recovery etc fine.
But if I plug the power lead in while it's off. The battery symbol appears but does not animate. The phone locks. And the only way to get it back to life is pull the battery.
This is hardly a big problem, and I'll live with it if nobody has a fix. But has anyone come across this before?
Thanks

It seems to have started after COL3, it was occurring to users who were using my stock de-bloated ROM. I initially thought it had something to do with SuperSU.
If you could try to flash the stock firmware and not install a custom recovery or SuperSU and see if the issue still occurs?
OK. Phones originally a BTU so I pulled down N910FXXS1CPC1_N910FBTU1COI1_N910FXXS1COK1_HOME.tar.md5 as the latest BTU available. Charges normally while off. Manually rooted with auto root, re flash TWRP 3 and xposed. All is fine
So went back and looked at the version I had downloaded before. It was your partially de-bloated Stock-CPC1-signed.zip. Not sure what in the debloat causes it. Maybe Ill debloat by hand and see if I can work it out. If I get the problem back Ill let you know.

Galaxy Tab s2 SM-T810 - nothing will flash successfully!

Hi all,
I was given a Tab S2 that was stuck in a boot loop. Original owner had no idea why. I have tried flashing stock, and various development images but I cab't get anything to boot.
I CAN flash twrp 3.1.0-1 from one of the threads, and then successfully boot into it in recovery mode.
In recovery when I try and install a ROM I get an error with "this device is ." at the end. I have tried a workaround to set the device ID but it doesn't seem to work.
Also, I have tried flashing the original firmware using ODIN and once again just get stuck in a boot loop and have to re-flash twrp.
I cannot flash any later version of twrp (the 3.4 versions for this tablet do not boot flashing in exactly the same way as the 3.1.0-1 version that works fine).
I've searched the forums a LOT but can't find anyone with this problem. If anyone else has been here and has a way to get either stock back on, or a late dev version (preferably) I would very much appreciate some advice.
thanks,
Matt
Mine had an Error 7.
I would recommend trying to get 3.4 to work.
However. Grab yourself Lineage 16.0, Nano Gapps and jump into recovery. Go into Wipe and hit Format Data. Then Advanced wipe and clean everything out but your SD card. And do a factory reset for good measure.
Then reboot into recovery again, plug the tablet into your laptop and transfer Lineage 16 and Gapps + Magisk if you want. My key backlights broke after Magisk tho. Flash em all, Lin first Magisk last.
If it's still broken you can just repair all the file systems. Just don't change any settings and try again to flash.
Tablet works great now. :3 Definitely worth it. Fast, smooth most the time. Definitely doesn't lock up it just chugs along with a pretty ol' OLED screen. Charges slow but it's not an OS issue. That's just how she is. But if my battery wasn't 87% wear it'd last well over 6hrs. It does about 5.5 screen on right now! It sick! Btw get Accubattery so you can see the charging speed and so you know if you need a new wire and battery health in case the battery is messed up. It normally tops out at 1600mAh with the stock charger and a good wire. If it's anything under that you have a connection issue.
P.S; This tablet is terribly picky with wires. I had luck with an Onn wire from Walmart. 1 out of the 2 managed to flash it. One would only charge and the other worked but if I bumped it it would disconnect. Bare in mind these are both brand new out of the box. lol It can definitely lead to flaky incomplete flashes and weirdly they fail precisely at the exact same point too. So definitely get wires. Lots of them. At least 3 attempts. With any luck one will work long enough for you to flash it.
P.S.S; The same Onn wire that worked for transfer yesterday doesn't even try to connect today btw. I'm srs. This tablet is alergic to wires. Still charging at 1536mAh but doesn't show on my laptop.
