I recently broke the display on my gs5 while the private mode was off. I have several gig of pics stored there. is there a way I can retrieve them using kies or any other app from my pc to transfer them to my new gs5? Or will repairing the old phone be the only way to retrieve them? None of my private mode info is backed up to any cloud service.
thank you for any help.

You Sir, should stop the double posting. If anyone knew help he had already replied to your first thread. You won't attract peoples' attention by creating as many threads as possible.
Cheers.
My recommendation would be to do a hard reset and see if that restores the SMS/MMS account on your wing. If that does not work then you should login to your my.t-mobile.com account and download the rom, then reflash your device.
sir i agree with the other guy double posts are not appreciated here and most likely if the hard reset does not work try another phone if still not working you sir have a network issue
Hi,
Luckily i got my hands on an invitation code for My Phone beta. Check out a walk-through of My Phone via screenshots at: http://xperiancer.blogspot.com/2009/02/microsoft-my-phone-in-action.html
It is simply the best backup solution out there for Windows Mobile devices. Could include a couple of configuration options, but overall a perfect solution!
Best Regards.
Salman Khalid.

Ah... sorry for that. Corrected it.
yay i just received my invitation for MyPhone!
Any kind one that would like to invite me?
apparently the MS Team is posting promotional codes on their twitter account
http://twitter.com/msmyphone
You could try that one, or sign up and register your interest and i am sure they will send you...that's what i did
how to get into My Phone
yeah just sign into the site and be put on the waiting list, only a day for me to get accepted.
It's good enough but saves all the images in the my pictures folder, you specify individual files, cant backup any files from sd card and it cant backup windows live contacts only phone contacts directly added to the device or through outlook. Space on the beta is 200mb for backup, which is plenty if it can only backup certain places on the device.
That's my experience so far.
my phone cab file
hi . i just wanted to upload this file because i was looking for it and couldn't find it now i finaly got it so i want everybody to enjoy it
I would never put a backup on my personal data on the internet... Why not using a backup software and restore from the sd card ?
i received my invitation and i cant connect to the sync server, thats what it says, only once of thousands i tried said the ID doesnt match,
Anyidea what it could be?
do they need some time to update files?
should i wait?
I tried w the english and spanish version, and they seem totally the equal.
not impressed at all this doesn't sync it replaces from web account to phone
just a note to add: if get error message about syncing it will be because your clock is wrong and needs to be changed to the proper time
after flashing a new rom, i start setting up my phone again, connect it to Outlook, and then sync MyPhone, i end up with duplicates of all my contacts.. any solution?

I always use the phone one.
Phone means that the contact will be saved in your phone's internal memory. It won't be affected if you change sims or delete your google acct.
Google means that the contact will be saved in your google acct, you can access it from anywhere.
SIM means that the contact will be saved in your SIM directory. That way, if you insert your sim in another phone, you would still have the contact's details.
By the way, i don't think it's related to android OS at all or galaxy y....please use the general forum (in General Discussion) for these...

I recommend saving to your google account.
This way all your contacts will be intact, in case you lose the SIM or brick your phone.
Also I have found that making changes to a contact using your browser interface (firefox, chrome etc) is much easier than trying to make changes on screen.
Turning on sync will ensure that your contacts are synced with your phone. If you own more than one android device, you'll get the contacts synched to all of them.
I urgently need everybody’s help; my little son mistakenly deleted some important messages and contacts from my Samsung galaxy S4 (Android OS 4.2), the contacts are very important to me, I have attempted to recover lost contacts, messages from my Samsung S4, but still failed, please help!!!
Your contacts should be saved by Google. Not sure about texts.

I think the texts are gone.
The contacts are probably gone. But, if they are saved to Google, they might be recoverable. Goto your gmail and check the contacts tab.

I have never heard of that working, but try it. Instead of asking us, when we keep saying no, just try it.
But, I really doubt it.
If the contacts are very important, don't you have some other way of contacting them? Like social media. Or is there anybody else who may have the contact info as well?

If the messages are that important dont do much further with your phone, take the phone to Computer IT specialist likely found in some small coomputer repair shops, they may be able to recover your lost text messages and print them out for you. Anything that is deleted can be recovered.

Deleted items are only recoverable until over written and being a text message I would consider them gone for good. In the future you should always back up contacts to Google if they are important, being u never know when u may lose or break your phone. Hell it could even get stolen. Anything important should have a backup...

Samsung Data Recovery not only can help you get lost media files back, but also can recover contacts and SMS files formatted or lost due to other reasons from various mobile phones. With this recovery tool, you can recover deleted SMS and contacts on Samsung Galaxy directly, after connect your Android phone to PC, or recover lost pictures, photos, videos, etc. from the SD card on the Samsung Galaxy mobile phone. In addition, the program is also apply to almost all Android devices, including HTC, LG, Sony, Motolora, Google and so on. Hope this can help. Thanks for reading.
When deleted messages, deleted from android, the os removes the pointer to the files from the file allocation table and flags the deleted files as no longer needed. in order to recover the deleted messages, contacts, you need to avoid writing data to the card or internal storage, plug in your device and set the usb setting as mass storage so that both the sd card and built-in storage should be recognized and mounted as removable drive, scan the drive, then recover the deleted messages from android.
