[HELP]Mobile data not working/Invalid MMI code - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
today I was on CM12 build and noticed that my mobile data isn't working and whatever I did couldn't make it work. So after that I flashed official ROM and after that factory reset it. But still no mobile data. Then I found out that when I want to look how much credit I have on my SIM I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code" but I can make/recieve calls and messages without any problem.
Do you guys ever experienced the same problem or know how to fix this issue?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

For mobile data problem, check your APN parameters in the Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access point names.
Regarding the error message "invalid MMI code", check the USSD code syntax with your service provider to make sure it's correct.

[Q] I can't send messages(sms). Help!!

Everytime I try to send a sms it gives me the following error: " Your text message cannot be sent. Be certain that your service center address is correct in Settings and then try sending the message again.". If I try to check my service center address in Settings > Phone > Services tab > Voice mail and text message I get the following error message: "Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again."
I already tried a hard reset and I also changed my standard ROM to a cooked one and still no change.
The funny thing is that if I put a different SIM in my HD(it's from a different service provider) it works right away to send messages and if I put my normal SIM(the one with which I have problems) in a different phone it works perfectly fine. It seems like my HD and my SIM don't want to work together anymore .
Does anybody know how I can solve this problem?
Solved it. I've installed a newer Radio version
can you specify the radio version you've installed, cos i've alredy tried 5 of them and it still doesn't work;/
it would be great if you could post a link for that radio
thanks a lot!

[Q] No data connection when porting Desire Oxygen Rom to HD2

Hi Guys. Need your expertise and advice.
I was successful in porting the Oxygen V2.01 ROM from Desire to the HD2 but I had this problem of not being able to connect to 3G/GPRS (no data connection, no data icon). When I keyed #*#*46368*#*#, I noticed that the GSM disconnect with the following error:
State: DcInactiveState disconencted with last try at xxxx AM fail because unknown data error.
I can make phone calls and send sms. I am very sure the APN settings are correct as the other ROMs are working fine. Disable and re-enable airplane/2G/3G also does not help. I have tried several kernels but problem still exist.
Could there be any Android system files that are causing this error when I ported this? Or does the modified build.prop has any effect on this problem?
Thanks in advance for any insights anyone can give.

OK. Just managed to get a step further... now my 3G icon appear but still no data connection.
Suspect got something to do with the PPP folder in etc as well as the init.d scripts inside.
Sorry not able to post link or file as I've not gotten approval of some developers whose work I'm using.

[Q] How to WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS in a rooted device?

Hi folks,
I'm looking for a solution to a problem I found in one of my software.
I use the phone as a standalone datacollector. He is sent to one location and nobody sees or interacts with it.
I found it interesting to use Android, because it is reliable and easy to program, in addition to the hardware features necessary for my application.
I have 200 Galaxy S5 devices for that application.
The problem is that from time to time some of them decide to lose contact with the modem / SIM card.
The only solution I found is to turn off and on the data connection. The problem is that even with the rooted device in and asking for permission to manifest for android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS, when I try to change the data connection, I get a system message saying that I'm not allowed.
What should I do? Has anyone tried any solution for this?
I heard that I need to have the signature of the phone's firmware to be able to sign my software with the same key. Really?
Please do not suggest changing the APN settings to turn off and on phone data. This does not solve my problem... i`ve tried.
Thank you!
Many setprop as a terminal command or some how edit the database in settings provider
great idea, but how do you think i'll be able to tell the system that i've changed the file or the database? a reset?

using mobile data with international sim card

Hi,
So I'm abroad right now with my unlocked sprint s4. I can use the sim card to call and sms without any problem, but I don't have access to data, eventhough my plan includes it!
also, when going to system update-->uicc unlock, it says:"mobile data not available"....what does it mean? How can I resolve it and define my apn settings???
This is so annoying for such an expensive device and a "world" one!
Please help....
Thanks!

i believe you need to root your phone to gain access to the APN to manually connect to the data server

My phone is rooted...the question is: do I have to flash a customized rom over the stock rom in order to gain access to this option? In the stock rom sprint/Samsung eliminated this option, you can't change the apn manually!
I'd really appreciate if you can help or if someone knows if a customized stock (also recommend which one is better) can get/let me access these apn settings.
Thanks!

Hi,
Had the exact same issue and got it fixed ..
here is how..
if your phone is already rooted..
open play store :
Download any APN database (i use HiAPN ) .. install
use titanium back up(PRO) to make that a system app.
if PRO version not available use root explorer to move the .apk to system/data..
Restart Phone.. SU will pop-up allow .. and Voila!!!
First post helping someone .. please do let me know how it goes ..
Thanks & cheer'S:good:

Hi,
I'm going to try it now, but didn't completely understand: Can I do it over the stock sprint rom? I prefer to leave it as is right now, and not add/replace with a customized rom...
Where do I find this apn database? Can I edit it with my local carrier apn settings?
Also, How do I use the titanium backup app to make the apn database to an app?
Isn't the HiAPN an app to begin with?
Also, Do you have the "sprint" s4 as well?
will this work with any apn tweaking program or database?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have another problem and thought you might have encountered it as well and know how to fix: When i'm trying to do a short dial with a "*" before the number , I'm getting this message :"Connection problem or invalid MMi code". Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks again!

I'm on stock rom (sprint), software version L720VPUAMF9, and what other info?
'm just getting this annoying message and can't dial any "quick" dial with a "*" (star) before the number....
What does the "#0011#" do?
I'm really at loss and frustrated with the stock rom of sprint and the strange stuff they/Samsung did with the phone...
Is there a way to fix it without installing some customized ROM?
Thanks!
did you check this ?

Hi,
1. I'm afraid to do a factory reset, as it will (most likely) cancel the "unlock" sprint done for us, won't it????
2. What is this USSD/MMI fix app.... just checked it, and it looks like some safety issue, not something that will allow/let me do a "speed dial" with a * before the number
Thanks!
someone?

Short Dial ("*") problem using international SIM card

Hi,
So I had an issue with the mobile data and fixed it.
Now I have the following problem:
When i'm trying to do a short dial with a "*" before the number (For Instance *131) , I'm getting this message :"Connection problem or invalid MMi code". Is there a way to fix/bypass it?
Thanks again!
(My phone is a sprint Samsung s4, unlocked, stock rom, with a mobile data available using international (local) sim card abroad)
