do you only use your phone to make and receive calls?

somone post a damn link to a video of the process u guys are using to get good battery life
The process is to get rid of whatever is using your cpu cycles while your phone is inactive.
Yeh damage control I now get 22 hours if awake time
B efore id get 18 hours of uptime.
Dc is the best I have tested then all. I get 34 wakeups in powertop. Do that test on any other rom you ll get 2 to 3 times that
I clocked 32 hours with moderate use. And I am using an app killer... but I just watched for apps that were CPU hogs and found replacements for them. There aren't too many that affect it so much to trade them out, but you might be surprised by your findings

No way I'm beating thee crap out of it. Dc limits higher cpu speeds with dconfig so if you have that option checked its slower but who cares I don't notice it saves batery like crazy. I'm on speaker phone conference calls all day. Bluetooth/gps on. Exchange sync as items arrive. Its crazy good I'm using syspannel monitoring ilk posy screenshoys, tomorrow.
L I ikesais, powertop gives me 30-40 wakeups. Some roms, are in the hundreds or thousands, but the proof will be the screenshoys tomortow, or try it yourself

haha, great name for it. i'm having better results too doing the charging circle jerk. 20+ hours with moderate to heavy usage
My battery life has been great since the 1.4x update... As an FYI the facebook syncing from 1.3x caused SERIOUS battery drain if you had it linked to a facebook account and had the HTC people widget on your home screen. I used 2 gigs a week while having the phone on wifi at home most of the time due to this bug!
So, at what point do I just throw in the towel and ask for a replacement battery from Sprint?
I've done the "battery circle jerk" twice, now, with no improvement. In fact, this morning, after completing my third jerk (battery jerk - get your minds out of the gutter), my battery percentage fell to 95% after 10 minutes of almost no use. Either this battery is bad, or the EVO has some serious issues with topping-off a charge.
^I have the same problem.
Losing thee first ten percent q quickly is very normal with this phone.once it his 85% it'll start to even out. Personally I've notice charging with the wall charger seems trio make this problem a little better

So sorry for adding to the battery life threads, but I'm pretty frustrated.
I've seen people posting screen shots with 18 hours uptime, 7 hours wake time and 50% battery on custom roms. I've seen people getting about 24 hours on a single charge.
I've had my evo 2 weeks now, and I've tried about 3 different ROMS and 4 or 5 different Kernels all of which promised LONG battery life. I'm currently running BakedSnack 1.7 with Kernel #5. My phone has been on 10 hours, 2 hours of wake time and it has only 35% left. Couple of short phone calls, 10 mins Pandora and a bit of browsing and texting here and there. I was expecting more after rooting, yet it seems almost the same as it was before I rooted.
Am I expecting too much ?
I've gone through the full discharge/recharge cycle about 4 times so far. Bad battery perhaps ?
will the phone charge get you through a day say 10 hour work day ( includes travel time )
imho your expecting to much with 10 hours in to your charge and still have 35% left is pretty damn good imho
Baked Snacks is a great rom ! its no the battery check your TWS
Depends what you are doing, some things (3d games, flash) will drain the battery faster than others.
If you are at 10 hours and 2 hours awake with 35% left, thats not too bad. You should end up around 16-17 hours with 4 hours of awake time.
If you are talking on the phone, that will drain your battery the fastest.
Make sure you completely condition your battery as well (as many posts show)

It will make it through but usually by 5pm its around 30%. I almost have to make an effort to use it sparingly though. I really like the Baked Snack Rom, its very slick probably the best I've had so far. TWS was 3% today.

Have you tried SetCPU? I have stock rooted with SetCPU (Perflock Disabler ftw) and without a signal 13-25% of the time (meaning the phone is searching for a signal), I end a 10-12 hour work day with about 45-50% left. Underclocking to 250 while the screen off has helped a lot.
This seems to be a common concern. first please remember to take everything with a grain of salt when it comes to people reporting there battery times. There are just to many factors to say ok if you use this rom and this kernel you will get 20 hours of battery life. Also many of the people reporting battery life exaggerate. sure they may ahve gotten 50 hours between charges on stock battery... but they surely didn't have moderate use ... or any real use during that no matter what they claim.
from another post it seems the majority of people in that post (with everything tweaked calibrated and set up) were getting roughly 13-18 hours of battery life out of there phone with normal use. normal being defined by actually using your phone as a phone as well as using its other capabilities. So my feeling if you are a moderate user you should expect to fall into this area as a goal. Things to help would include setCPU, making sure you turn off data when you shut off screen (or getting a program to do so for you - juicedefender) and making sure you calibrate your battery and battery stats of your phone.
it seems like you are getting close to this range however you are having to watch your use to do so. as others have said the first thing i would do is get setCPU and set up a battery saving profile. read through some of the battery threads if you havent and look for setting changes that wont impact you tremendously but will help save battery (for example if you dont use landscape mode a lot you can turn off autorotation and save some battery). If you are using froyo and are running a task killer uninstall it since it doesnt work any way. While most settings will make a small impact together they should help get you to where you can use your phone moderately through out the day with out worries.

Don't get me wrong here, the thread wasn't about me complaining, more about setting my expectations.
2 Years ago I had the first Touch Pro which would be dead by 3pm regardless of usage. At one point I had 4 batteries. I got the Touch Pro 2 a year later and it could go 2-3 days on single charge with normal usage. It was like night and day.
Granted this is a much more powerful device than either of those, but I feel like I've taken a step backwards with the battery situation.

I tried out SetCPU but the phone was slugglish for me at times and once or twice I had to reboot.
I'm probably just gonna grab an extra battery and a desktop charger so I can charge one battery while the other is in use.

Hey Guys,
A bunch of people are complaining about the battery life on Nexus 4. I've been waited for a couple days since I got the device, to have enough confident about the battery before I make any post here. Yes, the phone battery drain pretty fast on the first few cycles. After a bunch more charges later, let me tell this, the battery life did get significantly better. It lasted about 10-15 hr depends on the load of the usage.
Here is my typical day, off the charge at 100% in the morning, listen to a few songs, checking emails, and messages while getting ready for school. About an 30mn to 1hr of internet browser and youtube videos while on the bus. By 1-2pm the battery drop the about 70-80%. I put the phone in silent mood til i'm done with all my classes. On the way back home on the bus, I listened to a bunch of music, web browsing, maybe a few phone calls, texts or games.
Compare to my old phone, Samsung Galaxy S2 T989, im impressed with the Nexus 4 battery life. My Galaxy S2 battery always die on the bus coming back home. What I'm trying to get at: if you're a light to medium user like me, then get this phone. I was hesitate at first because I always have bad experience with android battery life. But Google seem to get its OS right with this nexus device, mainly because the battery drain minimum while in sleeping mood.
Can you post your Nexus 4 battery performance screenshot if you have been using the phone for more than a few days ?
Is there supposed to be a question being asked? Or a statement as this is in the Q&A forum.
I agree with you on many points. People need to wait at least 5 to 7 days for the battery charge to fully kick in. The first days mean absolutely nothing as it is still being aligned plus the user is still installing apps and setting up their phone.
There are some notable problems in the default kernel that uses more battery Usage than normal too.

From full battery to this overnight + breakfast usage. Rasbean + Matr1x v3.0. Never seen anything like it. Coming from the GN, this phone is a different dimension altogether. On any aspect..
Had phone for 5 days. Drained phone to 10% then fully charged. Moderate to light use made it through a day.
Stock rooted + Franco Kernel.

Depends on how much screen time you got, which you didn't show us.
The trick is to be careful about using mobile data when signal is bad, I switch to WiFi when home to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

What is this obsession for battery life, it lasts me well through the day with moderate/heavy use. I charge it at night (if needed) and unless you are homeleless this shouldn`t be a problem. It`s a great phone and i enjoy using it.

I thought the same until my N4 actually arrived, it seems battery life is abysmal compared to my Optimus 2x which didnt have anything really spectacular in regards to battery size. On my O2x I could get 1.5 - 2.5 days depending on use, hitting atleast 1 .5 which was good and acceptable for me (I can charge at night anyways) however my N4 doesnt even reach 13 hours on similar usage!.
I am quite a light users of smartphones however I do like to have a power phone when it comes to using it on the basis of smoothness and capabilities if I need to say do work on my phone, I rarely play games though. Main usage is 2 email accounts on poll 1 hour steps, a third account that is an exchange server and polls in 30 minute steps and thats about it with some brief browsing and a handful of texts (been a quite time since I got my N4), this is less usage than my O2x and yet it still performs alot worse!
I was hoping of staying with stock as I was expecting it to finally be good, comparing it to LG stock attempts it is but battery life isnt . I will be trying the combo Vangelis13 mentioned, raspbean and matr1x kernel as that seems like a great mix however Parandroid has been on the table and it seems like alot of being are getting good results so I will try it soon .
If I can get more than a day of usage I would be really happy, if I was playing games or doing really heavy tasks I wouldnt expect it to last but right now it is doing pretty much nothing and dieing far to fast!.
One thing I've noticed since coming to N4 from S2 is that phone calls drain battery much more significantly on the N4. I could make an hour long call on my S2 and it would use no more than a couple of percent battery but the N4 used 15% for an hour long phone call the other night.
If I didn't own a nexus 4 and came to this thread to find out about it's battery life I would expect it to be good.
Point is you guys are misinforming everyone. The battery is mediocre and that's it.
It won't last a full day if you use it constantly and I do need two charges / day many times.
Let me put it this way, you will only get roughly 3 hours of screen time on stock everything. If that is good for you then it's will have good battery life, if not then you will say it's got poor battery life.

you are perfectly right.
I come from an iPhone 4s, which I changed because the battery life wasn´t that great and I thought it was time to try something new.
Got the N4 last friday and played around with it during the weekend.
Monday, tuesday and wednesday this week... none of these days I´ve been able to come back home with the phone still on.
I wake up at 7.30am and I usually am back home at 6pm.
In my opinion, and honestly should be in everyone´s opinion, 10 hours of battery life are unacceptable, whatever the usage is (considering that 7.30 of those 10 hours I was at work)
I have till friday this week to return it, which is a pity because the phone is great
i get 5-6 hours sot..
rom is omnirom 5.1.1 hellscore kernel b73.
100mv undervoltage hellsactive governer.
think 7 would be possible if google services would not take a quarter of the battery.
the screen is not taking that much battery as one would think.
think most issues with battery life come from fake original battery replacements.
had 3-4 sot using "original" battery. but after replacing with real genuine from official lg spare parts shop 5-6...

Same here. On all my other Android phones Screen is the top user.
U are using ips technology on the screen unlike amold that saamy used which kills the battery in hours in full brightness . As you could see that the iPhone has good batttery life because the 720p ips screen.

I've found that rebooting the phone after taking it off of charge, the battery life is awesome. There seem to be some wakelocks that kill the battery and for some reason, charging has something to do with it.
I don't know if this is why, but I heard the G2 has special screen technology that greatly reduces battery drain.

Yeah, somthing about 30% lower battery use or something like that. It's 6 hours since I took mine off the charger, must admit very moderate use, some toying, some photos, some mails and 1 phone call. but still, my phone is at 96% battery. My old S2 would be at 60% at this point.

I tried this and it worked. However, one instance is not proof I guess haha. I will experiment more tomorrow (namely, not rebooting after charging) and let you know what I find. I wonder what specifically about charging may cause wakelocks?
Over 48 hours of use, more than 50% battery left. 3,5 hours screen time. Android system worst offender with 35%, screen 2nd with 25%.

If you look at the programs listed under Android System, try uninstalling the ones that you would never use. This has seemed to help me. But to be honest it was kind of unnessary because the battery life is just crazy badass. In a few weeks or so when the devs have there way this phone is going to be epic.
It is two things, which by the way are great news.
A) LG's screen tech which doesn't refresh pixels when the images are static
and B) IPS
What we can't control is screen power consumption, but guess what? We can control android system consumption through kernels and roms. This means that we can *hopefully* expect EVEN BETTER! battery life since the screen is, for 80% of users, the main culprit for energy drain.
Just a quick note that flashing CleanROM on my ATT LG G2 basically took my battery life from <20% at the end of the workday to just under 80% at the end of the work day with increased use on the CleanROM install. Highly recommended.
Been off the charger since 6:50 this morning. Sitting here at work doing some texting, Words With Friends, and a test call for a co-worker...96% at 12:15pm. My Nexus would have been at 40% by now.
So is Android System different from Android OS?
I normally can squeeze out 15-22 hours since installing Snapdragon Battery Guru. Which has been working great until today.
Here's my situation today:
-100% charge at around 1230am. Light to moderate usage leaves me with
-77% between night before and waking up (only dropped like 2% overnight) at
-830, then i worked from 9 to 1230 so i didnt use my phone too much. But since ive been off work ive been using it more so im not too surprised about my low battery level currently.
But what concerns me is Android OS using half my battery! It says its been active for more than 4 hours and i dont understand where it comes from. Its way more than my screen usage even with a screen time of little over 3 hours.
Anyone know whats up with Android OS? It doesnt tell me what is running when i select it so im lost.
Also ive done many of the suggestions in this thread with positive results. Ive been monitoring my wakelocks and since doing some of the suggestions on here nlpcollector has actually gone down.

Just to benchmark .... I used the phone moderatley ..
I did.. a little over 50 hours of total on time
4.75 hours of on screen time,
2 hours of spotify with bluetooth for the entire time,
2 hours of MapMyRun with GPS running ..
then various text messaging and a couple phone calls
The only modifications i've made to the stop experiance is taking of google's location service for programs, but leaving GPS active .. and changing the screen to auto-brightness, baseline of 50%.
I came from the SGS2 ..... with 1 hour of on screen time and the other spotify and bluetooth .. i'd be around 10-20% after 8-10 hours !!!!!
Mines pretty awesome.

Over the next few days at work it's on wifi and then on 3G/4G before /after work. I pull it from the charger at 7:30am and by 7pm its at 40%. Then on Friday night I unplugged it at 12am with 100% and woke up the next day with 80%. It's dropping like 1% about 10-15minutes. Would a factory reset fix the battery drain? or call for a replacement?

Just to benchmark .... I used the phone moderatley ..
I did.. a little over 50 hours of total on time
4.75 hours of on screen time,
2 hours of spotify with bluetooth for the entire time,
2 hours of MapMyRun with GPS running ..
then various text messaging and a couple phone calls
The only modifications i've made to the stop experiance is taking of google's location service for programs, but leaving GPS active .. and changing the screen to auto-brightness, baseline of 50%.
I came from the SGS2 ..... with 1 hour of on screen time and the other spotify and bluetooth .. i'd be around 10-20% after 8-10 hours !!!!!

wow that's really amazing. ill try that out and disable google location services and see what happens. will that interfere with google now? i mean i would totally sacrifice google now for 50 hours though.

What kind of battery life are you guys getting?
I was getting really bad battery life, barely getting 4 hours screen on time(100-2%). Well now that I've had the phone for a week, it seems to have settled. Today I'm going to break the 7 screen on time barrier(100-2%)! I think this is great! This is with auto brightness set around 40% I think. I dont understand the auto brightness.
This battery life thing was KILLING me. I was ready to return the phone if it didn't improve. Well the battery has settled and the improvement is almost doubled!! Once I hit 2% I'll screen shot and post!
Here's the pics!
I have to say this. Even without root or an unlocked bootloader. I'm pretty satisfied with this device. The last android I used was an S5 and this little guy is like it, on steroids! Out of any androids I've had the S5 was the only phone I kept for longer then 6 months. I had it for 14 months. I hope to do the same with this phone. Though with a locked bootloader. I dont know if that will happen. I think if this device was unlocked and undervolted. We could get another hour of screen on time out of her atleast. We'd atleast figure out wth is going on with Android systems and put a stop to it!
Any one care to comment?
I love it so far using my s7 since February 29.
Finally got my s7

Yea, over 100 packages disabled. I have also gone through a warranty replacement. Some others suggested debloating could hurt battery so I even tried adding it all back but recently removed it all again.
Is anyone who is getting great battery life using a gear s2? Only thing I can think of
I am not getting much over 4 hrs screen time.
I was getting 4 hours as well. I dunno. Im consistently getting 6 hours atleast. Well... My phone better then yours ?
At first i was getting 5 hours sot, I debloated and a week later it's constantly at 6:30 SOT. Used package disabler pro from app store, the made debloat packages thats on the app. Great phone by the way. I gave up the note4 and don't regret for a second. I still have the note and every time I pick it up put right back down and immediately go back to s7
The new update seems to have helped with the android system destroying the battery. Normal when I get home from work im at 61-65% I'm at 73% right now with 2 hours 22 minutes screen on time
No improvement here I don't think. 4 hours off the charger, 20 min calls and 20 min SOT, 88%. Android system and OS are lower but still high
Your usage really matters here. I have a buddy who got this phone same say and he is about to hit 2 full days with 5:30 screen on time. Which I think it's pretty dam good. Phone sleeps well. My usage is different and I get 5:30 hours but only 1 full dy (24 hrs) consistent

I'm seeing better than expected battery life, averaging between 4 to 6 hours SOT. I will say this, what's odd is it goes from 100 to say 85 percent pretty quick and then it's a slow drain. I haven't even got it down below 10 percent yet.

Interesting observation, I get to 85% really quickly (i.e., in 30 minutes SOT).
