Hi, a few hours ago i have done a backup of the "memo" folder from internal storage after doing a backup of all notes in aplication. A lot of files named like "2_scr" were created, the same number that notes we have.
After this, i have done a reset of the phone, but when i put the old memo folder on internal storage, the aplication "Notes" dont show me the restore option, its like the app is not recognizing notes.
I have important information on the notes, how can i restore the notes or see the content (in a pc or similar)?
Please, its very important..
Thanks in advance.

Whic back up for WM5, can make a backup in the pc? If I am not mistaken Sprite and Spb back up only on the SD card.
Thanks
Sprite can back up to the PC as well. And Spb may not directly back up to the PC (not sure), but there's nothing stopping you from copying the file afterwards?
ZeBoxx,
Have you become my personal tech support? heehee
In the end you will start asking for money
Thanks man
Yes I can copy, but I would prefer to avoid copying, since I am a backup freak, and I almost backup everyday. I did not see that option in Sprite, will look closer, thanks again

I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager which backs up to either main memory or SD card, and also includes a PC backup utility which if I'm right can restore a backup to your phone over Activsync.
You have to copy the backup on the phone to the PC first, though.

Hope this helps.

With Sprite, at least the beta I've got, you actually run an app on your desktop. It will remotely reset the PPC (the PPC will prompt you about it), perform the backup to the desktop, and I think resets again. Haven't run it in a while

Thanks a lot
Anyway I can easily copy my contacts to my SD card before i hard reset so I can copy them back afterwards???
You mean OTHER than using ActiveSync and Outlook????
Technically Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 can do it, though when performing my text backups I've always found that the Contact feature causes problems.
Pocket Informant or ContactBreeze probably has those functions, also.

Just copy the pim.vol file at the root of your file system to SD. Use the internal file explorer to do this. Do not use resco.
To restore, rename the pim.vol pim.old before copying the old file to the root. Soft reset after this. Don't use any other program than internal file explorer or it won't work.
thaihugo, thanks that was the answer I was looking for

Problem with me (and perhaps many other) is that i chagne from on rom to other rom every day. im tired of backing up and restoring contacts from SD card. so i am instrested in a software that can save contact to SD card and search and load a contact from sd card again directly.(it my dream it may not be possible). but i hope at least someone may come up with a solution.
wow a reply after 6 years . as far as i can remember the good old WM times, DotNetFreds PIM Backup was the! solution for backup&restore questions.
Hi friends!I make a hard reset at my wizard, and i have created a backup of my sms in the storage card, but at this moment i dont remember the name of the program that i used to make the backup!
I only know that the backup file in my storage card have extension .sms ,and i used Windows mobile 5 !
Anybody know any program can i used to restore this sms backup?thanks
PS: Sorry my english if you dont understand very good!
I had to do a hard reset and I have lost all of my contacts. Before doing the reset I saved all the files on my HD2 to my computer.
Anyone know where contacts file is located so I can import it?
you can use pim backup to save your contacts and many other things
Wasn't aware of that one, will definitely use that in the future.
Given that I wasn't wise enough to back up with PIM first, and only saved all the files onto my computer...any idea how to restore contacts now?
What format did you save them onto your computer in? You might be able to import them into Outlook and synchronize them.
I just copied the folder in the root directory and the storage card folder and pasted them onto pc
Which folder? To my knowledge there is no such folder.
contacts are not stored in a folder. They are stored in a "database". The file is PIM.VOL located at the root of the device. Theoritically, I guess you could copy it to the PC (or SD card) and overwrite it after a hard reset. Except it's locked by the system, so you would first have to kill the handle to the file. Many tools allow this kind of trick on PC's but I haven't found one on WM yet
phone contacts
I am using HyperdroidV1.7 with windows Mobile Artemis V 50. Unfortunately I lost my phone contacts under windows. Using android all contacts are still there. Is there a way to copy them back to simcard using android or copy files back to windows mobile ?
Thanks for your help.
Hi
I'm an idiot human and deleted my camera folder. I'm not rooted. Can I recover it? It was on the micro sd card.
thanks
I've found a fix for this. Much of the pc recovery freeware is useless (on the playstore its pretty much all useless unless rooted) as it scans the files which takes ages, then says you need to buy to recover. After 6 or 7 attempts at trying different software I found 'recuva' free which did a grand job and recovered pretty much all the files. I removed the sd card and mounted it in my laptop, it recovers them to a file on the laptop and they then just needed copying back to SD. Take a photo first and the camera folder gets recreated.
One improvement I can see on Android is the ability to 'lock' the camera/DCIM folders so they cannot be deleted with just one click, but allow content to be selected for deletion. Can't be beyond the realms of mankind to build this and include it into core fw without the need to root. This would also be useful for music and other folders where accidently deletion needs to be prohibited.
