[Q] what are constants of the phone - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

There is an app that i use makes something only one time per device. I wanted to know what cause this to happen so i formatted my entire phone and flashed stock ROM by Odin then tried the app and found it didn't change.Thought it is about the ip so tried on another network and nothing changes.Tried on another device and it made that thing for one time only as usual and doesn't make it again so i thought it is about something in the mobile itself that is saved in the app server as used. something that doesn't change by changing ROM or data or kernel or anything like this. all what i know is the mac address and the imei of the mobile. i changed the mac address nothing changes. i then searched about changing imei i found it is illegal and have a big risk.
i wnated to know what are the other constants that doesnt change by changing the entire system and kernel?
and is there a way that a beginner like me can find out what the application read and save?
thanks in advance

You haven't said what the app is or what you a trying to achieve - you have only said it will only allow you to do something once
More information is needed
Mac addresses cannot be changed - they are burnt onto the network card & are unique - you can spoof a mac address with Linux but I'm not going to say how or go into any details as that's not what xda is about
Your ip address can be fixed or varied - normally your phone will always get the same internal ip address & you will normally get the same external ip address from your default gateway under dhcp unless you turn off or reset your router
Without knowing what the app is & what you are trying to achieve I can't support you
And even if I did chances are you are trying to do something which is against XDA rules

About the app i didnt say its name because i thought of it being against the rules and because i wanted general information about how can any app track or guess that this is the same device after the changes i made.
The app name is whaff and the thing i am trying to do is inputting an invitation code in two different accounts on the same device which as i know is not against their terms&policies.
About the mac address i followed a procedure that changes the mac address in a file called .nvmac.info and after reboot the mac really changed in the advanced settings of wifi.
About the ip i think i am aware of what you say. I connected to another router of another wifi lan to get different internal and external ip.
thanks for fast reply and I hope i am not against xda rules

I haven't heard of that app
If the app is not designed to allow multiple accounts you will not be able to do this
You could wipe data of the app & this will reset the app & you might be able to sign in with a different account but if you sign in via mobile number than this is pointless
These types of apps probably are setup using your phone number & it sends a confirmation code to your phone - no matter what you do unless you change your phone number you will not be able to create a 2nd account

in this app i sign in using my facebook account and doesnt send any verification code to my mobile i made many tests and i deduced that the only thing that the app recognizes my mobile with is a thing that doesnt change by wiping everything in the phone and is saved to their server not my mobile so as i said all i know that could be it are the mac adress and the imei . they are constant by changing roms or wiping so i think when i open the app it compares one of the constant things in the phone with the saved things on their server. the app allows multiple account and i can use it with two accounts on the same device but cant input two invitation codes on the same device.
Edit: it is also not about the facebook account because i tried the same account on another device and it worked.(note:the app also accepts one invitation code per account)
i want to know how the heck can that app recognize my device although i wiped every thing and flashed new rom and signed in with different google and facebook account

how to turn yr streak into ftp server and accessible from internet?

i have tried different software on my streak. they all works fine in LAN. but seem none of them can work as normal ftp server on internet. i means i can tell my friends just type
ftp:user[email protected] to access my file on the phone from anywhere...
have u come across any good stuff working as a charm?
I haven't found a working FTP server, but Dropbox (free 2GB account) would work. There's a (free) dropbox client for computers and Android (and iPhone). What you do is create a directory then add your friends' email addresses to it as a share. From there, everybody can copy in and copy out files easily.
Running an FTP server constantly listening to port 21 might be a bit of a battery hog and unreliable as you move around in and out of signal.
but this require everyone installing client software which it not ideal...

There's an app called "Websharing" that when you launch it it tells you the "Http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxort number to access it from any web browser. You can either set a perm password, or it will self generate a new PW for each session.
Definitely not an "always on" solution, but quick way to share files and drop stuff on your phone from anywhere. I use it a lot to drop the odd .apk or other files onto my phone sdcard.
Haha looks like my "port" number colon became a smiley. What hath the emoticons wrought?
the features u mentioned only available from full version?
I need internet accessible.
Seem lite version only support LAN?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yeah, I have the full version. And yes, AT&T does seem to block incoming (at least on the ports I've tried) but that problem may exist for any phone on any cellular network. I don't think the telcos want a bunch of web servers running in everybody's pockets.
But on wifi it's great.

[SOLVED]School Wifi, Two IPs

I've been looking around the forums and google for a solution to this. From what I found, the solution that works for most people with the same problem as me ends up being chnaging the UA String to iPhone or Desktop, but that still doesnt seem to work for me.
Now my problem is that at my school, they set it up to where you have to log into a portal before you can access to the WiFi, but my phone never redirects to the portal. It used to on Windows mobile, but now running Android on NAND, it wont redirect. I've tried nearly every browser on the Android market, tried changing the UA String on all of them. And still nothing. I ended up going to the school's IT Dept, and they registered the Mac Address to my phone, but then told me that my phone was connecting to two different IPs. One being the school IP, the other an unknown IP.
I've looked in the WiFi settings and i cannot find this second IP they gave me. From the sound of it, thats my problem. Any idea on how to remove this second IP? Or if the IT dept. was wrong? If so, and other ideas on how I can connect to this portal?
PS: My phone connects to every other portal website i've gone to so far, except the schools.
hmm strange, normally your WIFI connection connects to only one network. You can find the IP address by calling *#4636#*#* then Wifi Information / Wi-fi Status. Now click Refresh and you'll see your connection info. You can even run a ping test

Not sure if I am reading that right, but the USB Port can have an IP? If thats possible, how can I disable it or change it?
You need update your ROM to one that support unique MAC address or search WIFI MAC to set the MAC address back to your real one. Old Android library on HD2 set the MAC address by using a file so all the phone has a same MAC address by default. You didn't have two IP address. There is someone else running a Android HD2 on the network. Two devices with the same MAC is the same device to the IT Dept. Only one of the device will be routed at any one time.

This sounds like it might work. I'm currently art school an unable to change roms. I'll do this when I get home and leave an update.

No need to change rom.
Use search function 'change MAC adress' or something like that.
I'm using a SD Android and needed to change it also, was just a change in startup.txt.
Maybe it is a little different in NAND? But it should be easier to search a little bit around as to re-flash.
(Most or maybe all Android builds have this problem)
If possible, use your WM MAC adress to avoid further problems.

I ended up changing my rom, and it fixed my problem. Used Hyperdroid GBX, also gave me a chance to install CWM.
But your fix might have worked as well.
His fix will only have worked for sd builds, not NAND. currently, many kernels for nand will give you a unique mac address, but there is no way to set it like there was on sd builds

[Q] Can't connect to Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

After having been connected to my company's MS Exchange server on my HTC EVO for over four months, I was prompted to change my password on the domain (on my PC) and since then, I've not been able to re-connect with the new password.
I tried deleting the account and rebooting my phone and re-creating the account from scratch, but whenever I try to re-connect, I get the following error message:
Setup could not finish
Unable to open connection to server
The IT guy at work put in his own credentials and had the exact same problem.
The interesting thing is that I downloaded a trial of Touchdown for Exchange which uses the same credentials, and that seems to connect fine. I have no idea why one works and not the other.
Does anyone know what might be happening when I try to connect by adding a new account?
My suspicion is that there was some change in the Exchange server settings that impacted me once I changed my password to reconnect, but would like to hear other theories.

I for the life of me don't understand why I can connect to my exchange server using a third-party app (touchdown) but not using the native email app.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If your company made any changes to their exchange server, then you need to figure out exactly what is needed to connect. I have setup 10 different android phones on our exchange server, and the settings to connect were different on 5 of them. We also had 3 of them that were on exchange 2010 instead of exchange 2003, and those settings were even more different.

+1. I've spent hours with IT and with Sprint and nothing. I got this from Sprint to help my get it going, so I will post here in hopes it will help you. They sent me this link:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/208942
And this email:
"The only way to fix this issue is by having access to Active Directory on a server with Exchange plugins.
Go Active Directory Users & Computers (Enable Advanced Features if needed)
Open the properties of the user that is having the issue
Click on the Security Tab
Click the Advanced button
In the Default Permissions tab check the box at the bottom for "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent"
Wait for AD to propagate (5-10 minutes) "
The info on the link I was not able to try because it required changes being made to the server that my company would not allow. The email info they sent me did not apply to me because the server at my job was already set up that way.
Good luck. I gave up getting the native app to work right. I don't know why something that should be so simple is such a mission.
Not sure if this will work or if you have tried it but. Clear the application data/cache from the applications menu in settings.
For you server, did you put in "owa.mycompany.com" or "somethingelse.mycompany.com"?
It sounds like this might be the problem. You need to have your owa server listed there instead of the exchange server for Outlook.

[TUTORIAL] Access Your Galaxy Tab as a Shared Mapped Drive Over Wi-Fi

Your device must be rooted for this to work
Get "Samba Filesharing" from the Market and install it.
Configure it on your network in the settings- very straightforward- it will give you an IP address 192.168.1.x and the name \\Android for your device
If you are using Windows 7, Right-click Computer and click Map Network Drive, otherwise open up My Computer and click the "Map Network Drive" at the top
Enter the IP address (given by the app) and the Username and Password you chose during setup
Optional: Set a NETBIOS name and use that instead of the IP address and then you would type in \\netbiosname
Optional: Map the drive to your Internal sdcard or External sdcard depending on your preference- example \\netbiosname\sdcard (default) as the path in map network drive.
That's it! Now you have a drive in My Computer mapped to your Tab (or any other Android device)
that's a cool, how-to man.
One extra step, you must have a rooted device for this app to work.

Hello mkhattab .
Thanks a lot for the great write up on how to get Samba working. It's a great program and certainly makes the good, old USB cable almost obsolete .
If I may be so bold as to add a line for us Windows 7 users,
Item #3: Right click on my computer and and then carry on as above........."Map Network Drive"......etc.
Thanks again
For those who dislike typing, and frequently change networks, set a NETBIOS name and use that instead of the IP address.
Type in \\netbiosname in the start menu or Run, or as \\netbiosname\sdcard as the path in map network drive.

I don't know if anyone here using the hacked .apk for Skype for 3G calling but if you do you will notice that you cannot receive calls while the tablet is sleeping (like if you press the hardware button).
The option for WakeLock here that prevents it from sleeping now allows me to receive calls no matter what. Funny thing is that I couldn't even get the filesharing to work but now I have full functionality over Skype. Hah!
Thank you for the thread. And as I am sure there are other ways to do this, but I am just happy I can receive calls whenever now. And maybe I'll work a little harder to get Samba working as well...
Thanks for the great guide dude.
Just one question. I have File Expert installed on my Tab. There is also an option where I can share my files over the computer. Is the setting here similar to Samba Manager? Thanks

Have you tried Mac changer app? I think there was one that needed xpoosed not sure though.
Theres plenty of ways to change a Mac. If you want you can just go into file explorer and change it there have you tried that?
Thanks
I'm okay changing it I just want to know if effects anything else on the phone like WiFi password access or password etc
Cheers

Changing the layer 2 adress always effects the whole communication since you have a new one. Therefore any devices which communicate with the device needs to learn this new adress(happens automatically normally).
If you have some Mac adress security in devices like access points, soho routers etc. you need to change the Mac there too, otherwise you will be blocked.
But passwords not. If you do something wrong, you can mess up your phone.
Thanks
Just want to make sure that my home network WiFi will still connect automatically or do I need to login WiFi password again
Just be careful, because you can have major issues if your android box and phone are on the same network. The router/switch will potentially route packets to the wrong device, making network access slow and/or unstable.
