Hello all,
New Note 3 user but have rooted Droid1 and Nexus in the past. I am a little confused with the Note3 because I have read about tripping "knox" and do not want to void the warranty. Is knox tripped on the phone itself or do the results get sent somewhere else? Also, what is the best thread/guide to start for someone who wants to root the device for superuser only, not interested in customization. On version 4.4.2 - Verizon
Thanks!
Take a look in mi theard

Hello everyone, I can not find any information on how to root the Note 10.1 2014 edition. Can someone please post a link to instructions showing the best way to root the device?
Thank you
I think note 3 solutions should work as they have the same hw.
But if you root now you'll flag Knox counter on bootloader and this void your device warranty. There is no way to reset Knox counter.
However in note 3 development forum a Dev has released a modified official firmware that call some root files from /sdcard/ without flagging Knox counter so without lose warranty.
So I suggest you to wait until the same developer modify note 10 firmware with the same solution

Patience young one. It was just officially released and tablets don't get the same first day treatment and adoption like phones do. It'll be posted in the Development forums when there is one, or work being done to discuss what is going on in the process.

Thank you guys for the help.
Hi. As I said in the title, I've just changed my phone to samsung galaxy note3, but I'm not sure how to root this phone cuz I used to use a galaxy s2 before I changed my phone. ps. I live in South Korea and I'm using a Korean galaxy note3 ( sm-n900s)
The things I want to ask you guys are these
1. How do I root this?
2. Is there any custom roms that can be installed on the note3 jellybean 4.3?
3. When I root this device, does something happens to the knox warranty thing? When I searched a Korean developer forum, they said if I root this device, the knox warranty will be broken so you'll not be able to get free a/s.
4. Is the way of installing roms on note3 same as the way of galaxy s2?
5. Is it ok to install non-korean roms on my note3?
Thanks.

Of course - you'll trip KNOX 0x0 -> 0x1 and void your warranty

One piece of advice I will give you. Read until your eyes burn and you know everything that goes wrong/can go wrong and how to fix it if it does go wrong.

Go to Note 3 Android Development session, there's plenty of custom ROMs option there... Enjoy your root!
Hey there everyone. I'm not new to Android but I am new to wanting to Root my device. I switched over to the dark side for about 6 months and had to get away so I traded my iphone 5c(junk) for an S4 on Verizon network. The issue at hand is that the previous owner who happened to work for Verizon updated the damn thing religiously. It's currently running 4.4.2 on the FNC5 band. From what I'm gathering there isn't a way to currently root this build? I've seen a tutorial on downgrading back to I believe MK2 which is 4.2.2?? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I may have to try that method if at all possible. Or should I just wait.. and suffer with an un-rooted S4.... or just trade for an HTC one... lol
Thanks everyone and don't hurt me too much... I honestly have been trying to learn the past 2-3 days and have been slightly confused.. but it seems to be making more sense with Rooting and installing ROM's.
By the way...in Odin mode... the knox kernel lock says 0X0 as well as the knox warranty void.... odes this mean I can root the device normally!?!?!
Wait a minute, what is your model?
International or Verizon?
If you have Verizon s4, then you are in wrong section, go Verizon S4 section, you will get more help there.
For the information on the i9505 , which is very similar to Verizon s4, you can root on 4.4.2 but you will trigger the KNOX as the flag will set to 0x1, which means lost warranty
Hey guys, i recently got a new Samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9505 and i want to root it. If so, do i need to unlock the bootloader first or do i just root my phone as is? Also can anyone link me directly to a thread where i can unlock the bootloader of my phone, thank you
Any help?
The Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 doesn't have a locked bootloader but rooting will void Knox warranty unless you use a method that doesn't. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784433 to try and root without voiding Knox warranty.
Hi to all,
I've got two questions for all of you.The first one is:is there a way to reset the knox to 0x0 on Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos (SM-G900FD) ,as for the Samsung SM-N900?I saw a video on youtube a few days ago, uploaded by @R Reviewers where the Samsung SM-N900's knox was reverted back to 0x0.Is there a way I can revert the knox to 0x0 on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos?
I really do need to get my warranty back!
My second question is:is there a free method to unlock my phone (with software or something else, but to be a FREE way)?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!
Not possible, Knox is a physical thing, when you trip Knox there's a physical change on the board.

1. No way to reset a tripped KNOX flag on our devices (as of now).
Here you can read more about this topic :
[RESEARCH]Samsung Knox: Warranty Void Behavior by theq86.
2. There are paid services to unlock the device for all networks. Usually you have ask the carrier/provider to which it is locked to for an unlock code. Some do, some want money and some won't do it at all.
Here you can find threads about network unlocking on xda:
Threads Tagged with network unlock.
... sounds strange to me to have a dual SIM device locked to one network ... for both SIMs.
Hope that you get it unlocked.
Good luck!
More details for the previous questions!
Hi,
so first of all I would like to thank Rakuu and It_ler for replying to my thread!
This time I would like to add some more details for the two questions I asked you in my previous post:
1.How did the guy on the video on youtube : Reset Knox in your Exynos Note 3 with @R Reviewer (I can't post links till I post 10 posts,so I post you the name of the video on youtube and please check that video on youtube in order you could answer my question) reset the knox on the Samsung SM-N900 to 0x0 with some bootloader?(And the bootloader files are from rhe xda!)
2.In my previous post I didn't tell you that my phone was unlocked until I made a factory reset to it.Do I need to ask for help from the phone seller to unlock the phone again( but I lost my warranty after I tripped the knox!) or I can unlock it myself? What do you think?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!
