I was rooted on 4.2.2 with Rogers but wanted to update to 4.4.2 and didnt really use the root anyway. So i installed back the stock rom and resetted to factory. But now wifi wont turn on at all. I ran the softaware update and im still on 4.2.2 and it says I have the latest version available but i know rogers released 4.4.2 in march 2014...
Anyway, which way should i go to get everything working again?
Thanks
I don't know if anyone has explained why this happens, but sometimes the modem firmware doesn't completely "take", leaving parts not working correctly. Reflashing the modem usually corrects this. In your case, where you want to upgrade to the latest firmware, you should download it from sammobile.com and flash it through Odin. Not only will you not have to worry about a software update, but installing the updated ROM through Odin should correct your WiFi issue as a new modem will be flashed with the firmware.
downloading now, i'll report back
fixed thanks a lot

Hi, i just got myself a Samsung Galaxy S4 and i have succesfully flashed several roms. But when i flashed back to the original firmware with Odin, suddenly my WiFi can't be enabled, and my speakers don't work. I have tried factory resetting, and a full wipe, but it didn't work. But when i use a different rom, the wifi starts working again.
if anyone could help me it would be great
known issue with MJ5 stock firmware, is this what you have?
Flash one of the Wifi Fix modems here with Odin. Make sure that the one you download matches the firmware you are running.
Hope that fixes it, if it doesn't work first time, flash it, restart phone back into download mode, and flash again. Had to do that with mine.

I should probably just send it in on my warranty
Hi All,
I have a strange issue, I have upgraded my phone to kitkat(I9500XXUFNE4) thru odin, but the modem is missing and cause of that IMEI is showing as "null/null", so I tried flashing only modem from the zip file of I9500XXUFNE4 but didn't work, and now only way to get modem back on my phone is when I flash "GT-I9500_Modem_XXUEMJ8", the only problem with this is, if I tried to install Paranoid Android my modem again goes missing and even though I flash "GT-I9500_Modem_XXUEMJ8" thru odin still it doesn't, it's like only if I flash Samsung's official firmware then only flashing "GT-I9500_Modem_XXUEMJ8" will bring back my modem and IMEI#.
I should probably mention this also- previously I had installed leaked firmware of open asia "I9500XXUEMJ5_I9500ODDEMJ5_I9500DDUEMJ5_ODD", since then even though I update my phone via official Samsung's OTA or kies, it just updated my "AP" and "CSC, but I have to flash "GT-I9500_Modem_XXUEMJ8" in order to get back my modem.
Please help me, as I want to use my S4 with AOSP or AOKP based roms only.
P.S. I had three generations of Galaxy S series starting from I9000 and since those days I'm flashing my phone and using Custom roms.

I'm on the factory 5.0.1 image right now. What's happening is, when I download the OTA 5.1 image, it reboots and tries to install. Then I get the dead android with the red triangle.
I know that the answer is probably obvious, but I've been googling for about 3 days and can't find the original thread that had the instructions on how to install the custom modem. I know that if I put the factory modem back on, it will more likely than not fix the glitch.
I did NOT use Nexus 4 LTE flasher to update the modem, because at the time it wasn't working on Lollipop, I did the manual install method. Now that it is working, I downloaded it and tried to use it to install the stock modem. Well, that doesn't work, either. Dead Android on reboot.
Anyway, I can't find that original thread to manually install the factory modem firmware, so I can't do any OTA upgrades at this time.
Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

I ran into the same problem. I used Skipsofts installer to dD/L the new 5.1 factory image and install because my OTA kept crashing.
Now I have lost 4g LTE on T-Mobile. back to 3G. I used Nexus Root Toolkit v2.0.5 to flash the LTE enabler but had no luck.
I'd like to hear how you are solving the problem? I did have LTE 4G while using Lollipop 5.0.2 but not since I went to 5.1.0

So when this phone was on stock fng2 firmware long ago when it was current firmware. I sent it off to a guy who was offering very cheap unlock. used it fine since then. but wanted to put stock rom on it and make it completely Samsung official with no problems. so it is ready for selling. but when I get the latest firmware which is ok3 and flash with odin. after booting in those crashes start happening about 2 times per second. phone is useless. I made it to settings menu and looked at baseband and software version both show unknown so I flash stock ok3 modem still samething. then I try these full firmware images:I flash od2, same thing oh1, same thing, factory reset doesn't do a thing on the rom with issues. then I try fng2 it works perfect. then I use use od2 oh1 ok3 update.zip to get ti to latest version and it works perfect. modems upgrade and work fine. but when on latest version I reset phone from the settings menu to factory default same issue after phone as booted. so currently phone is useless if it is ever resetted. so no selling. any solutions.
the issue seems to reside with the modem. probably guy messed up a lot of settings in service mode?
You name it I have tried it most likely
any ideas anyone?
anyway to reset nvram to factory default.
i have reseted it in service mode. were it says a golden backup exists. that didnt solve anything
I've tried many many things but nothing seems to work for that issue. Only way I've gotten around it is by doing a dirty flash of kitkat with odin.
Hello all,
My phone downloaded but did not install the 4BQG1 security update via OTA. Since my phone was already rooted, I thought it would be best to revert back to stock firmware with Odin, which I did. I reverted back to firmware build QE1 without incident. Did not have any problems. However, when I tried to manually update the phone to latest security update, G930AUCU4BQG1, it says I have current software, which I obviously don't.
What should I do? Thanks in advance for your help.
