I have a big problem with my Note 4. My S-Pen works when I hold it above my phone and swipe across the screen. It may sound good, but is a big problem when the apps is moved and it is impossible to write something on the keyboard. The phone is not rooted. I bought Note 4 for the sake of the pen so I would like to try being helped and get rid of the problem. Some tips?

Sorry, but I can't understand what did you mean
explain further "when the apps is moved and it is impossible to write something on the keyboard"
If you're still in time to do exchange, just bring it to the store you bought it
Sorry it's hard to describe.
When I hold the S-pen above the letters on the keyboard it writes. I don't need to push the screen. It's like use swipe but not touching the screen. When I point the S-pen at any widget for example on the homescreen the app doesnt open. It moved around instead.
Sensor of pressure is in pen, so try move it a little or slightly pull pin or try to exchange it using provided tool in box. Maybe it's stuck.
I can recreate your situation if I push pin inward with nail 1 cm above screen so it move app icon around.
Perhaps try turning the enhanced sensitivity off.
Hi, perhaps the s-pin tip has gotten locked with dust or something. Se if you can move it and unlock it.

Thinking about returning my recently purchased G Pro for the G2. Some silly questions that I couldn't find answers to from searching:
1) If I use the knock-on feature to turn on the screen momentarily (check the time or notifications) but don't actually swipe to wake it up, does it automatically turn off after a couple of seconds (like what happens when pressing the power button on other phones) or does it stay in an on position?
2) I read some issues with Nova and knock-off. But do 3rd party launchers work just fine for the knock-on feature? I don't mind just letting the screen turn off after the prescribed time so knock-off is not as big a deal.
3) Most cases I've seen leave the volume/power buttons exposed, which I would prefer to make button pressing easier. Does this eliminate any issues of pockets turning on the screen?
4) Anyone noticed premature scuffing of the power button on from constant resting on surfaces (if no case is used)?
Thanks!!

1. On my VZW G2, with Nova installed, yes - it dims in about 5 seconds, turns off in about 10 seconds
2. I've used Nova since day 1, and I've not had any real issues with on or off. If its in my hand, I use a knuckle, and if its on a desk/surface a tap seems to work fine. I think it likes a good solid shake to move the accelerometer or something.
3. I've got the cheap Verizon TPU case on, leaves the buttons exposed, and I've had 0 issues with screen on in mah pocket.
4. I've always used a case, so I've got nothing here. Sorry.
Cheers! :good:
Cool - thanks for the quick reply! I am enjoying my G Pro, so I think I will love the G2 My only issue with the G Pro really is that the whole point of the large screen "phablet" is to get more info on the display. But many apps do not take advantage. I've looked at apps side by side with my prior Galaxy S3, and the same info is there - just larger on the G Pro! Not worth carrying a larger heavier device if I can't get more info on the screen. Only when raw browsing does it really help. The G2 seems like the perfect fit

I use Nova Launcher, and knock on works just the same as always. Knock off however does not work quite the same, where before on stock launcher you could double tab on any open space on the homescreen or the status bar to turn the device off, now the feature only works when double tapping the status bar. Easy enough though. I like it this way actually because I am so use to double tapping the homescreen to open my app drawer, so now I can have both features working.

Happy to help! As a former Oregonian, I'm always looking out for those still up north aways.
@EniGmA1987: Exactly - I'm perfect using Nova if the knock-on works cause I don't mind letting screen shut off on its own
@giri0n Haha yes - rains are about to start so next few months not the best to be in Pacific NW
Do you guys have any issues typing fast due to the soft button placement? I had quite some trouble typing on my Nexus 7 cause kept hitting the soft buttons when trying to press space bar cause I was typing sloppily! Doesn't happen with the traditional capacitive button layout.

I haven't...I turned off the LG keyboard and turned on the stock Android one (which I had on my GNex for a long while now and loved) and I use their faux Swype instead of touch typing so I don't have too many typing issues with that. The slide thru method on the stock keyboard is surprisingly accurate and learns what you use quite quickly.
Good points! I use SwiftKey and found that traditional thumb typing is fastest and most accurate for me - will just have to get used to the touch keys underneath I guess. I used to use Smart Keyboard Pro and it had a nice feature to add some padding below the keyboard to add some separation.
when i first hold the tablet (and even before) i tought that screen shot key is priceless. its very useful. when i read a book or surf on the web it lets me cut and share/send anything on my screen after cropped as i like. but them losing that key when i put stylus in its silo was a bit uncomfortable. most of the time i need that key i wasnt using. so i was sondering if its possible to keep those keys "all the time"
than something happened and its really bad. i totally lost those keys. when i pull of the stylus it doesnt feel it. it doesnt show those keys and it doesnt pop direct stylus launcher (even the setting is right) i tried to tweak it with simple methods like pulling it out ressetted pulled in resetted again etc but doesnt work.
so for get the direct stylus launcher, the question is, is there a way to make those screen shot and palm rejection keys "always on" no matter what?
i couldnt find any other people having this problem but even for the people doesnt have this problem, have an option to have those keys all the time should be nice.
I had this same problem with my girlfriends tetra note 7. Basically the tablet recognises the sylus by a little magnet snuck away in the stylus and in the tablet. When the two attract the tablet recognises the stylus in it and visa-versa. All I did to sort the issue was undo the tip of the stylus and re scree it back on again and that seemed to sort the issue. Sorry if you have sorted the issue

I did had to try it 3 times but at least can confirm: un-, and rescrewing the metal end does seem to sort the issue out. Just when you do so, unscrew the inside part of the metal end/cap aswell!
Hi, i am facing the same issue with my newly bought tab
But I am not able to solve it by unscrewing and rescrewing the stylus even 10 times...
If any other solution , plz help
I have searched around but have not been able to find a solution, I have a new (two days old) Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +. I love the phone so far, Android 5.1.1 is great, I have always like the TW interface, but I have this one nagging issue, and believe it or not its a big problem. The phone works super in all aspects but with games. Which during my off time I love Tower Madness and Clash of Clans they are my go to solitaire games =) BUT...... The touch screen on this phone is so sensitive it has a hard time registering the difference between screen scrolling or tap to select. So if I go to tap a unit it scrolls the screen ever so lightly before I even tap, then moves the screen, then I have to tap ever so accurately and deliberate or hit it a million times to register I am tapping not scrolling.
This is the one area the phone is just so bad. I have actually tested this over and over and I can scroll the screen without physically touching it holding my finger just above it say 1/16th of an in or less and it will move with my finger like the hover option on my old Note and Note 2. I cannot for the life of me find any sensitivity setting and its a phone issue not an app issue, unless the app can make you scroll the hardware without touching it . The only setting I can find is the mouse/touchpad sensitivity setting which has no affect on this.
Has anyone else been able to fix this?

And I thought it was just me who's thinking that I could literally scroll and use the touch screen without touching it :silly: (may be from 1 mm distance). The effects are less after I've put on the Zagg screen protector, its really thick and rubbery ( with friction). I think they did it to make it work even with gloves on or something since I couldn't find any option to turn on/off the glove mode previously introduced. I also miss the air gesture features introduced with S4.
Yeah it's annoying being forced to have a glove mode at the sacrifice of running apps in the first place. One feature should not defeat the phones use like this.

Interesting, I have the opposite issue. The screen seems much less sensitive than my normal s6 edge.

Even I noticed it, but it's not as drastic as it's for you, so I guess I can live with it. Also at times when holding the phone in one hand it registers my finger from the sides and hinders my main input.

That was happening before. After the Spigen Case, no more...
Any luck?
I wondered if there were a resolution to this issue? I have a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and am having the same issue. I play DomiNations, and every tap pans the screen. It's maddening.
I wish, too, I could use the S Pen stylus, but I think that might be more of a game implementation issue than anything.
Open Phone Dialer.
Dial *#2663#
Press TSP FW Update (General)
This will update screen drivers to latest version - has totalloy cured my screen tap scrolling sensitivity issues.
Settings/accessibility/dexterity and interaction/tap and hold delay. Change the 0.5 to 1 sec. Looks like it helped my note edge. I hope it helped someone.
I'm also having the same issue. Every time I try to tap a button inside a game, it scrolls the window instead of activating the button. Of course this also happens when I tap and hold. The screen registers it as movement and tries to scroll instead of tap and hold.
First phone had the camera problem, so I had it replaced, but both phones open apps that are not on the screen whenever I pick up the phone or put it down. I hold the phone on its sides, I do not accidentally touch the screen, I do not touch the buttons on either side, and even if I did, the app that opens will always be an app that is not on the screen I have touched. This is obviously some weird Note 4 problem, since both phones have done it and both phones did not even have the same apps installed, it seems to involve the way I hold the phone; holding it in my hand by the sides and walking around with it will sometimes open an app also, but mostly when I either pick it up or put it down, again fingers not touching anything but the sides of the phone, and not the buttons on the sides of the phone either, the only way I can avoid this is to black the screen with the right side button before I put the phone down or in my bag, as otherwise it will open a random app. I think I have gone on long enough to describe this situation, so does anyone have any ideas??

thanks for the info.
Have you check the Notification Panel to see if you have Touch Sensitivity enabled?
thanks for the reply, no, I didn't enable that on either phone.
Just wanted to share: I've had the same happen to me. On one occasion, my phone uploaded and sent pictures to one of my contact as I was was watching. I immediately suspected something nefarious. When I came across this post, I had to share.
I'd recommend that you remove the screen protector from your device if you use one, and see if that helps.
haha bruce lee roy, and to iceepyon, yes I had a glass screen protector on the first phone, but nothing on this one as I want it to break accidentally so I have to buy something new, but again both phones have the same behaviour with and without any screen protector. Really, nobody has had this problem at all with a Note 4 besides me?
For anyone that's having a problem with their s-pen such as needing to press harder on the screen just for it to register or work to scroll etc etc take the s-pen out of the phone and hold it in your hand at the top near the clicker and take your other hand and FLICK it (kind of like if you were going to flick the back of someones ear, lol) pretty good a couple of times at the bottom near the TIP and then try to see if the sensitivity changes back to the way its supposed to be like on the older Notes.. It has something to do with the spring or something in there and if you flick it a few times pretty hard it fixes the spring holding the s-pen tip and then it'll work like a charm! Obviously don't try to flick it hard enough to break it people!
Thanks a ton. This worked for me. You are awesom man.
But is this a permanent fix or will I have to keep flicking the top part frequently?

So far it seems to be permanent to me but if it ever does it again it's just a simple flick so not really a big deal.. However if it does keep on doing it I would go to Samsungs website and request a new one because that's what I did Friday and they're sending me a brand new one free of charge.. The only reason I figured it out was because I started taping it on the desk while I was on the phone unconsciously doing it and then I needed to do something on the screen and I suddenly noticed it was fixed and I no longer had to press harder directly after taping it on my desk, hahaha!!

Is it still working out for you? Mine has been working great since I did it. It's so much better now and was driving me crazy when I had to push so hard and it would still skip off like I took it off the screen when I didn't.

That's not the problem we were having ours was that we had to use too much pressure to get the pen to work and now I barely have to touch put any pressure at all before I would literally have to push the tip down pretty good for it to work and now I don't have to at all. But your suggestion might help someone else though.

Go into settings and then display and check and see what your settings are set to for "accidental touch protection and touch sensitivity" that might help.. Also you need to make sure one of your hands is not accidentally on the screen wherever you're holding the phone at.

"accidental touch protection and touch sensitivity" is on - that's one of the things I always check when setting up the phone. No I'm not holding the phone wrong, it happens when I use the S-Pen or my finger.
