Nexus 7 2012: screen not unlocking after locking. CM11 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I m using CM11 on my N7 2012 32GB WIFI model. From last week i m facing this weird issue. When i lock screen using H/W Power button, it gets locked normally. But when i again press button to unlock, it wont work. I tried to press all buttons volume, power, magnetic flip cover but it doesnt work. Then i have to restart by pressing Power button for 10s.
But some time power button works normally to unlock screen. I face this problem 5-6 times a day.
Plz tell me solution of this problem. Hardware buttons are fine. But why its not working properly?

[Q] Power button not working

Hi,
after unlocking and rooting my Nexus 4 I flashed the franco-kernel. I did these steps with the ToolKit. But now when I start my phone I can press the power button once and it offers me to shut it down. After that there is no reaction when pressing the power button. I tried to reset the Nexus but I still get the same error. Can anyone help? Thanks!
EDIT: My nexus just turned off the screen and I was able to reactive it by pushing the powerbutton. What works all the time is shutting down the phone by long pressing.
From your initial post it sounds like it might be sticking..

I don't think that it's hardware related. It might be a software issue. Sometimes the screen stays on for ever unless I open an app and close it again. It seems the phone doesn't know what to do when the button is pressed.
EDIT: When connected to PC I can use the button only to power off the phone. I can't wake it...weird

[Q] power button

I have Nexus 7 32GB Wifi. I have rooted it last week, but hasn't installed any custom recovery or ROM. The one problem i have noticed after that is , sometimes i have to press power button twice to wake up the tablet, only then my unlock screen comes up. I tried waiting few seconds after pressing power button once, but the screen will not turn on, i had to press power button second time. Any idea?
Thanks

Screen lock pb

hello
I'm facing some pb when my Nexus 4 screen is locked
pressing power button does not allow me to enter the pin
screen only appears for few ms and becomes black
I have to press power button several time to finaly be able to enter my pin!
I have to admit that it is very annoying
thanks in advance for your help!
fyi it is a NEXUS 4 unlocked rooted without custome rom
one more information
I observed the following behavior:
- when screen is locked by myself(through the power button) I reproduce the pb
- when screen is automatically locked by the system after some time, unlock through power button is working perfectly fine

[Q] Power button issue with N4 on Kit Kat?

Anyone else been noticing issues with the power button on the N4 since upgrading to Kit Kat? (Fully stock)
I've found that sometimes my power button won't register a 'long press' to bring up the power/volume/airplane mode control, unless I reboot.
Other times, I've found that pressing it seems to register twice.
Is it just me?
it's not kit kat the power button on our phones is of really bad quality they only last for a few months you should get it replaced from the service centre.

You are not alone my friend..It happened to me when i upgraded to 4.3..Ever since i am having issues with power button..At first i thought that it's due to 4.3 because the button was all fine in 4.2..But then i had to accept that the button is dying..It's not due to the upgrade..
Sometimes my button won't register long press & sometimes it feels like i've pressed it 2 times lol..Phone locks & then unlocks just by pressing the button once :crying:
For me, the power button sometimes wont turn the screen on. I have to press 2 times.
And i feel this after upgrade to 4.4
You guys should just change the power button. It is a known problem for Nexus 4.

Same is happening here, my phone has less than 3 months. I don't believe it's a hardware problem, I can hear the "click" when I press, and sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes is just horrible to lock/unlockscreen.
I'm starting to consider about flashing a ROM/Kernel with doubletap2wake.

[Q] Nexus 4 died weirdly

ROM: Cyanogenmod
Android OS ver.: 4.4.2
Device: Nexus 4
Apparently, using CleanMaster to clear up RAM and locking my phone at the same time is a bad combination.
My Nexus 4 is now bricked somehow.
I remember my battery is about 60% and above.
My "Hold" button is broken so I used Cyanogenmod's double tap on status bar to lock screen function mostly.
The "Hold" button will work if I pressed the "Sweet" spot.
I tried calling my Nexus 4 and there's a dial tone but my Nexus 4 do not have any indication that there's a call.
No vibration or ringtones.
There isn't any LED light indicating my phone is in critical state.
I believe my Nexus 4 is still "Online" as I still can call it.
Please help! What should I do now? I think I'm the first one to have this problem.

Well, I don't know if i'm pressing the "Sweet" spot but I tried holding for more than 60 seconds. Nothing happens.
I think my phone is having CPU or RAM lock?
Any more ideas to force reboot my device? :crying:

I've tried and held it more than 60 seconds again.
both holding Volume up + Power and Volume down + Power doesn't work.
Thanks for the suggestions though!
I'm still confused.. why did this happened? :l
Oh.!!! After constantly pressing volume up and down with power button and power button alone.
I couldn't tell if my phone had shut down, I tried calling my phone and there was no dial tone!
I tried powering on at the same time and a logo on the screen came up!
My phone is working fine now!
Lesson learned: Do not Clear RAM with Clean Master and lock screen at the same time.
Current Battery Level: 25%
Thank you all!

glad it's working. just to let you know you don't need to clear ram since Android 2.0 eclair. So don't use those apps.
