[Q] KLTE or KLTEVZW? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am beginning to think my phone has an identity crisis, but to be sure, I need this question answered. I have a Verizon branded S5 dev edition, which works just fine on stock NCG. Is this KLTE or KLTEVZW? It seems like an obvious answer, but my phone's behavior has got me doubting the obvious. Some help from the more experienced players, please?

This might help, you should be looking for the Product Name.

[Q] Possibly a stupid question... (IDing handset version)

Hi,
Im reasonably technically minded so i have no real concerns about flashing my device, and ive been waiting for an AOSP/AOKP ROM for my S5 (to get rid of touchwiz) since launch.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2754174
This appears to be it, but it refers to it supporting a GS5 (KLTE) version.
What does KLTE mean in this context, im presuming its something to do with the cellular radio type (ie LTE) but i cant find any information about whether my handset is the KLTE variant, whether it even is a specific varient, or what it means.
What i have is a UK purchased, rooted, EE handset, model number SM-G900F, currently running Omega Rom v1.9.
Is this a KLTE handset, and is this ROM safe to flash to my handset?
Yes, Your device is KLTE variant
Happy flashing!
Thanks very much.
Unfortunately flashing to it simply caused my device to bootloop, and now updating to the latest version of Omega ROM is causing all sorts of unpredictable behaviour and all round BS. Apps crashing that arent even supposed to be loaded, camera doesnt work, gallery wont open existing photos on the SD card. That sort of thing
Screw it, going back to stock.

Since you're new, so make sure to follow its instructions carefully, you might haven't wiped data & cache before/after install that custom rom

I wiped the cache before the installation.
To be honest this sort of crap is what kept me on iOS for 5 years, and its whats making me consider dusting off my iPhone 4S because frankly this handset is a joke.
Its now flashed back to stock, but is unusable given that the screen is populated every second with "Google Play Services stopped" "Weather has stopped" etc etc
Half a dozen apps falling over each other to crash over and over again. This is after a return to STOCK! Handset is now completely borked, i cant even install get another custom recovery on it and flash back to the half-broken ROM, because its completely uncontrollable.
Issue now fixed - For the use of anyone who comes across this issue heres how - Spend 20 minutes fighting your way through the menus to the Backup and Restore option, to a complete erase of the handset. This fixed it for me, but at the cost of everything on the handset.

I realize OP didn't ask about the verizon model, but I would like to know what KLTE means. OP went on to ask about their device, but the first question wasn't answered.
Just wanting to know more about what KLTE means.
sorry to revive this, but is there a difference between KLTExx and KLTExh? (both 900F)

Yes that's a KLTE too. That variant release for Korea. But be careful with flashing not all variants compatible with each other.

[Q] Different device types?

Was looking at the unified rom section to see if it's worth to go ahead and root my phone as I've held off. Got really lost quickly with all these abbreviations. kltexx, kltelra, kltetmo, kltecan, klteatt, klteub, klte acg, kltedcm, klte. So many. I know mine is kltetmo as I have a TMO S5. Does that limit my rom choices to ONLY kltetmo or would i be able to flash a klte build? I know i wouldn't want to flash a klteatt and such but what about just klte?
thanks!
the same as that question. How can everyone help me?
How can i distinguish kltexx,kltelra,kltetmo,kltecan,klteatt,klteub,klte acg,kltedcm,klte?????
You can use klte ROMs on your T-mobile which is international LTE (900F) since both are GSM.
Can anyone help me with my model s5(SM-G900R7) are there any roms out that I can flash I'm kinda new to this

[Q] SlimBean for i9505

Hi, I will probably be picking up an i9505 as a backup phone, and I'm actually really excited because it looks like I can put the final 4.3 build of SlimBean (build 2.2), which I ran on my S2 and it was honestly the most perfectly configurable rom I've ever run on a phone - as similar as a lot of the rom's that came out around that time were, that one had a couple options that I couldn't find on any others, and they made it exactly what I wanted. Anyway, so that I don't brick the phone the same day I get it, can someone confirm for me if the version listed as "jfltetmo" on the SlimRoms website is the corrrect one? This is the T-Mobile variant, but it's the only S4 listed there. The thread in the i9505 original development forum is closed, and the op lists it as being "jfltexx", but that doesn't exist on the SlimRoms site. It's baffling to try to figure out with so many different variants, so that's why I'm asking here, thanks to anyone that can help me!

Yes, jfltetmo is T-Mobile. jfltexx is the international version of the S4. The one that's neverlocked, so to say.

I guess my question is, are ROMs compatible between carrier-specific and unlocked variants?

Of course. It is the same phone after all. The only difference is the software. It also depends on the carrier. Some lock their bootloaders.

Before I Flash, I Just Have to Know

Will the i9505 stuff work on the SPH-L720T? It's the branded Sprint version of the i9505 and I don't want to brick the damn thing. If there is anything I need to know, now would be a good time to tell me. I will point out that I have the 4G version (I think that's the only version made for this model anyway) and it is unlocked to work on all networks. Will I loose that if I flash a custom ROM?
Secondly, I am looking for a ROM that is as close to the stock experience as possible but doesn't have all the issues of stock! But with fixed stagefright issues, the widget draw on Touchwiz UI, and better power saving features.
Thirdly, recovery: what is the best one to use? I was thinking TWRP since I already have experience with that. Do I also need to match up an Odin version for my device?
I think that's about it for now. Thank's for the help!
If the code was jfltexx, it's safe to flash. Just check the ROM's thread for any special guides if available.
For stock-based, no idea. I don't have an I9505.
Sent from my GT-I9500
Thanks. Where do I find the code to tell?
On any I9505 development thread with jfltexx on their supported device list.
Sent from my GT-I9500
It's a rebranded I9505. They have identical hardware.
Your phone has a tri-band something. I don't know what it does, but it seems to be carrier related. That's the only difference between the normal SPH-L720, I9505 and your model.

CM13 on Cricket (post AT&T merger)?

Hi all -
I posted this question on CM forums - they suggest I also try here - I have a Cricket Galaxy S4 - post AT&T buyout. It is a GSM/LTE phone using CM11 and a Cricket SIM card. I was wondering if I am limited to CM11, or if I wanted to upgrade to CM13, would I just use the current jlfteatt builds? Anyone out there in a similar situation?
Thanks!

What's the exact phone model?
Since it already has CM11 you should also be able to get CM13 on it.
Both the "about phone" and sticker behind the battery say SGH-I337. Sorry for being noobish about it, but is that what you are referring to? I know the S4s cell in different flavors, but otherwise I just think it is the garden variety S4. I guess my main concern is all the talk about the basebsnd versions. Mine doesn't match exactly, but not sure if that is just about rooting the phone. I am of the same mindset that it should work if I have 11, but I can't afford to brick my phone just from a time perspective (never mind money as well ) but I want the shiny upgrade sooooo badly....?
Thanks!

There's nothing you can do about the basebands and bootloader. If you update them your device might get locked and no custom roms or root can flashed anymore.
Sincthe the phone already has CM11 I assume it isn't locked. So just flash a newer recovery (TWRP) and flash CM13.
