Hello, navigation worked fine on my new phone for the first month, after that I have serious problems with my LG G2. Whenever I navigate on google maps, my location does not change; it says "waiting for location" however, Google Map tells my location within seconds. My problem is limited only to the navigation. I think the word for that is LOCK (Gps icon does not turn white on Lg g2). Is it a software problem or a hardware problem? I have tried all the GPS fix application and it does not seem to work. Please Help.
Sir,

Hey guys,
I just noticed my GPS does not seem to work anymore (in maps and other apps using location). I tried toggling it on and off with the widget as well as restarting the device. Any time I try to get "My Location" in google maps, it will say "Waiting for location" for about 10 seconds, followed by "Your location is temporarily unavailable."
Seemed to work yesterday before I rooted the phone... any reason I would suddenly lose that functionality? I didn't touch anything gps related
Edit: Was just some minor wonkyness... may be related to slight data inconsistencies.
Hi Guys,
This has sorta been covered in the Google Mobile forum but I have yet to see anyone that has tested the Google Latitude in their HTC HD2.
The thing is, Latitude works but with 2 serious practical flaws:
1. Phone must be on, no standby so only can do minimum backlight.
2. Latitude does not work when Mobile Google Maps is minimised, ie. if you lock the device and although the phone is on, Latitude won't update.
What the Latitude suppose to do:
1. Still update location even if Google Maps minimised (phone must be on)
2. Still update location even if Google Maps has exited, but you check the "Yes" option for background updating (phone must be on)
So in real terms, you can't even put the phone in your pocket as the screen is not locked and it could start dialling someone in your contact list, let alone change settings for other programs.
It would be nice if Latidude can do its 2 main features above properly with the phone turned off, ie. you can still receive a call when the phone is off, weather still updates when the phone is off.
Anyone with similar issues I would appreciate any comments you may have.
Hi, I have this problem, too.
Mine does update the position when GM are closed nad 'yes' is choosen. Every 20 minutes, as it is supposed to do. It also uses only fast BTS fix, not GPS.
GM use notification (low-level alarm) to wake the phone up after 20 minutes and update the position. You can you for example FDC task manager to check if the notification exists after closing GM. It has page with notifications. You should see something with 'google' there, with time set 20 minutes after the GM exit.

I'm not sure how it works with GM only minimized. Will report later.
It seems to update the location once per 20 minutes also when minimized (and not asleep (in charger).
Works every 20 minutes with application minimized and device asleep.
Btw. my version is 3.3.1
Latitude updates work or not.
Maybe my experiences helps.
I've been using the HD2 for a few weeks now. During initial startup several questions are asked. One of them seems to be if you want to allow location updates to be send from your phone.
Out of the box I had some time and answered all these questions. Next few weeks my friends tell me my Latitude position was being updated. I never started Google Maps though. Not once.
After a few weeks I had to upgrade the ROM (SMS bug). This time I did not take the time to answer all the questions (next next skip skip). In my opinion I would be able to set these settings in several menu's later on. As from this point on Latitude behaves like reported on this thread. Only updates when Maps is active.
Sorry to wake this topic but it seems still unresolved and I have some input.
Given that you have accepted the terms and conditions, especially location updates to be sent from your phone, Google Maps should update your position every 20 minutes, regardless whether it is running or not.
Once we have program settings out of the way as a reason, I think the problem is not related to Google Maps at all, but is actually an internet connection issue. In other words, I think GM is correctly updating your position every 20 minutes, it just cannot send it over the Internet for other people (and yourself) to use it.
Why do I think so? Because I have exactly the same problem as you guys describe, but only while at home. As strange as it sounds, the moment I go to my office, my position is perfectly updated every 20 minutes (I can see it on my Google account), but when I leave the office, my location stops updating. Mind it I never change any settings when I enter my office so this cannot be related to any activity I did. The only way I can explain this is that when I leave the office, my phone fails to connect and transmit my position, while it succeeds while I'm in the office.
As a next step I am trying to troubleshoot internet connections. I think the phone is using wifi to transmit location information. If it was using the GSM network, it wouldn't behave differently when I am on different places (the mobile operator is always the same and the Internet settings are always the same).
Hi,
I have a strange bug I've never seen on other Androids I've been using.
When navigating with Google Maps, sometimes the GPS icon in the tray flicks out, and navigation stalls. Then, usually 5-10 seconds later, the icon appears and navigation resumes.
It happens in mapping mode too (Google Maps go from precise GPS to loose Cell/WiFi positioning), as well as other programs that try to acquire coordinates like TripAdvisor.
It's not like the GPS is losing satellites, that would make the GPS icon blink, not disappear. It's like I've disabled GPS in settings or in the power widget.
I have US AT&T Streak, unrooted, with original 1.6 firmware (6601), unlocked by Rebel SIM, using it on Fido (Canada).
I sincerely hope it's a software bug, not the problem with my particular Streak...
Comments, anyone?
So I recently flashed CM11 on my LG G2 (Verizon). After some initial troubles, I managed to get everything working just fine, except for the GPS. Even when I turn on high accuracy location services, the GPS will place me within a few hundred feet of my location at best when I'm not connected to WiFi. If I try using maps to navigate somewhere, all I'll just get a GPS lost notification soon after I start it, and then my location will randomly hop around as I drive within a few thousand feet of my actual location. I'll never actually get a GPS lock or have it be accurate enough to give me directions. This all worked perfectly fine on stock, so it can't be a hardware issue of any kind. Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any idea how I may go about solving this?
Thank you
bump
I'm having a similar, if not the same issue. New D802 Intl LG G2, GPS was fine in stock.
I installed CM11 Snapshot M11 and GAPPS, and Google Maps is unable to use the GPS. Interestingly a 3rd-party apps such as the popular "GPS Status" and Co-Pilot apps work fine.
When I load Google Maps and it sits there looking for a location, the location icon doesn't appear in the notification bar. However when I use "GPS Status" the notification icon appears instantly and gets a lock quite quickly.
I notice a few mentions of GPS issues on the CM11 bug tracker but they say resolved -- https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/NIGHTLIES-199
I just tried the latest nightly 20141022 (dirty update), but still the same issue.
I only just spent the necessary couple of hours to get the phone setup so I'm a little unwilling to do it again until the weekend.
Hi All,
I use Google Maps on a daily basis when I commute to work.
I see that after update to Oreo my location , nor my direction is correct. The location shows somewhat close to where i am , but not where actually i am.
I have calibrated the maps correctly using the 8 motion. Also, tried to not optimize battery saver for maps. Tried to turn off/on the GPS. Restart the phone and stuff.
But nothing seems to work.
Please help.
Thanks in advance!

My Google Maps works very fine, about position. But I have another problem: when I receive (or do) a call I lose my Gps signal. I don't know if it happens because I pair my device with bluetooth. I am not sure but the cause could be bluetooth.
Anyway I cannot do a call withou losing Gps... Has someone this problem ?
