I use facebook messenger quite a bit, but I noticed that if I have chat heads on , I do not get notifcations on my watch. if I turn it off, I get notices (a super short vibration unfortunately).
anyone have a fix for this? ideas? hack.

It's not only for facebook messenger. All the apps same, if you are on the screen in phone, you can't get notification from watch.
You get notifications that are displayed on the status bar/android notifications.
If your chat heads are open, you don't get a new notification on the status bar, but only counter on the chat head... So no notification on the watch...
Try to see into settings of Facebook messenger, may be you can enable notifications

I'm getting delayed notifications too. I just turned on my screen and immediately got a notification with a timestamp of a half hour ago. The same thing happened yesterday. Doesn't seem to affect other app notifications, just Facebook. (IIRC Facebook uses its own push notification system on Android, rather than the Play Services-provided Google Cloud Messaging.)
When I get app notifications for things like text messages or emails, entering the app directly and opening the corresponding message does not dismiss the notifications from the notification center. Is this normal behavior? I thought Lollipop did, but I could be mistaken. I either have to swipe the notification off, or click it to open the app to dismiss it.
I noticed the same, found it irritating and I got way to many notifications from all sorts of stuff, App's and OS. Eventually I disabled all notifications. The phone already makes a sound so i don't need any visuals.
I am getting the same issue, any fix/ workaround to get rid of the notifications?
In my case this seems to depend on the application. Whatsapp does this annoying thing, while Gmail and Inbox do not. I think that most apps are not yet updated properly for Marshmallow support.

I used Disa for Facebook and WhatsApp. I found that after adding text messages plugin began to display notifications from WathsApp and Facebook in the Alway On. Maybe it helps someone

Samsung, should have thought about this before offering always on display. I mean, we check for what is sent and if I have to always touch my device for every notification then, what is the purpose? A clock?
Disa wants me to remove the Whatsapp app! Of cause I am not willing to do that, for It might remove the conversations.
So, I could not test it.
It will show AOD notifications only if also used for SMS?

You can backup all your convo's in whatsapp also so its a easy restore if you want to install it again.

sorry, it doesn't work. I configured facebook and whats up, but when I received new messages nothing had shown on AOD
I just got my s8 on straight talk since moving to it i haven't received any notifications. I get numbers next to the Facebook app shortcut but notifications. Any ideas ?

Me too...so anoying
Hello people. I just received my S8+. I have it for 2 days now and everything except one are amazing. The problem is with messenger notifications. I dont get them. I have messenger to unmonitored apps, i never kill it but i dont get notifications. What it does? I open the app and see many bold letter for new messages but no sound, no push notification nothing. Viber and Whatsapp do it too but more rearely. messenger does it 24/7. any ideas?
make sure that in power saving menu there is no apps which not giving access to push when screen is off
