I am computer technician. Often I reinstall Windows on laptops with missing Wifi adapter drivers. I then connect my Samsung Galaxy S2 to my network and then pass that same connection to the computer using the USB tether option.
This option has been disabled on newer devices. My Samsung Galaxy S5 automatically switches Wifi off when using USB tether.
Is there a way to renable this option?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to connect Nexus4 to a Windows7 PC via USB and use it as a cellular modem?
Is there a way to do this without a third party app?
Go to Settings
Under Wireless and Network, go to More
Go to Tethering and Portable Hotspot
Check USB tethering (cable must be connected to computer, you lose access to phone sdcard when tether)
Sent from my Nexus 4 in a Faraday cage
Hello, I have an app that connects to my laptop that allows me to control movement in a CAD package (CADSTAR touch) and it uses WIFI to connect to the laptop.
I'd like to be able to connect to the laptop when out of the office on a demo so want to enable a portable wifi network or replace wifi all together with the USB lead.
I know that the windows 7 wifi hotspot does not work (if it does how?) so is there a way to fool the nexus 7 to thinking that the USb lead gives wifi connectivity land the laptop the same too). ?
Or what would I need to be able to make my own wifi network to connect the nexus too? Something small would be best.
Cheers.

Anyone?
Well thanks for all the help folks.
I have resolved this problem by using a MIFI device with no sim card in, it allows the devices to connect via WIFI still.
Im trying to set up slide sync with my S5 and my PC. Does it require you to be on a wireless connection from your PC? Im connected to the network via Ethernet but its acting like it has to be wifi for it to work.
Is it possible to USB tether a phone to a portable WiFi router and share the phone data through WiFi?
Searched and found nothing.
I don't think so
Hello,
there is an app that share internet via usb to phone, try to activate access point but i'm not sure that it will work, because the internet shared by usb will not be detected by system.
