Forcing Andriod Browser to always use https

Greetings,
Is there a way to force the default android browser in froyo 2.2 to always default to https for sites that support it?
I know in PC version of FireFox you can force it to always try using https by default, and then only use http when the site does not support https.
Don't believe so...

Having been through the various settings menus for the browser, and wandering message board for several months, I don't believe so. This isn't a high-demand issue, in general, so I would expect few implementers to give it a high priority.
Other than web sites that need security, most won't offer https support, because it costs them CPU cycles. When you're operating a server that deals in thousands/millions of transactions, the cryptographic session set-up "hit" on processor utilization (per connection) adds up fast!
For those sites that offer https, just bookmark them as needed. On the other hand, Firefox is now out for the Android platform (beta), so you could check if it includes support for this feature.

Usually this is controlled by the server, not the browser.
If you're looking for something like SSL Certificates Pro or HTTPS Everywhere, you're not going to find it for the Android browser. Hell, even if you manually go to https://m.twitter.com/, they still kick you back to http.
bumping an old thread, has anyone heard of any apps that can force https?

thanks. but what device features are the referring too? still cant write to SD, no built in screen shot app.......
thanks for the info.
Anyone feels that the latest update HTK75D makes the tablet feels running slower after you have it up for awhile. Also, I feel that once I opened up the reader app, the tablet will seem to lag. I have to restart it in order to recover the performance.
My home screen seems a little laggier after the updates.
Does anybody know if the European WIFI xooms have received these updates? I flashed my XOOM to the stock US ROM and I'm thinking of going back. The flashing has caused some bizarre behaviour with the android market website (multiple devices, can't download all apps to the "new" xoom recognised as a US device. The model number is different on the us ROM (it shows xoom instead of MZ604). Oh well...

Re: [ROM] - 1.24.12 - 4.0.3 ICS - Kindle Zone - Beta
re: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430160
I really do like this ROM a lot. I like the ICS menus and it runs smoothly and just about everything works well. I decided to make this my everyday standard use ROM and then discovered a problem that made me reconsider. I can't get to my work webmail. I haven't noticed problems with any other web sites but when I try to go to work webmail (which is a lotus notes webmail server) I get some sort of post data errors. I tried the browser built into the ROM as well as dolphin and firefox and have the exact same problem with all of them. I never saw this issue with either stock or CM7. So for now I have to give up on this, but hopefully this will fix itself in a future version, or at least I hope so.
There probably aren't a lot of folks out there who need to get to a lotus notes webmail server, so I don't expect this to be a priority for anyone. But here's hoping!

[Q] Filefactory downlaods

Hi All,
Apologies for this mundane question but I've been trying for 2 days to download my official 6810 firmawre (P6810ZSLA1_CSC_TGY.exe) so kindly posted by xenix96. It's on FileFactory. Am I the only person here who hasn't got a premium membership to FileFactory? I'm loathe to pay for it as I've never needed it before and will probably only use it the once - so I'll effectively be paying $12 to download the firmware. But in 2 days of trying I've not managed to get a free download "slot".
If you're all using premium then I'll shut-up and stop being so tight and purchase it also. Just wanted to see what everyone else is doing first.
Thx
i have had the same problems as you. For some reason i cant download some files but trying a different file works just fine, its strange.
Took me a few tries as well. Had to try different ISP's, 3G, wifi, mobile broadband, the works.
But hey it's free, so we really can't complain too much.
Though looking for a better file host might be a good idea, if one can be found with all the recent shutdowns.

True if it wont work you can go there and download it
70% of the sammobile.com P6800 Firmwares are added by me
For example i upload actually the Romania Frimware:
P6800XXLA4_CSC_ROM.exe - Last Modified by Samsung: 07.01.2012 <-- In Progess
......in 50 minutes it is on server and you guys can download it from filefactory
but not on sammobile.com maybe tomorrow
You ask now why ?
Cause it is depending when i will add it on check fus server Check Fus webversion 2.0
If i dont add it on Check Fus webversion 2.0 then sammobile.com will not release so fast as i do it.
But i do that to provide more mirrors for the P6800&P6810 Firmwares for all users over the world.
Actually over 600 users downloaded the firmwares since i start this .....and yes Filefactory got at the moment alot maintanance and upgrades.
And if you didnt read my Post Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 GT-P6800 & GT-P6810 ProductCode & HIDSWVER list
...this goes only like this cause some users help me to provide the Firmware stuff for you !! Thanks this this useres by me
Just read following:
FileFactory Support (Support)
What's happening at FileFactory? New update on current problems and future improvements!
Over the past few weeks we have worked tirelessly to resolve upload and download issues. Our engineers have been working 16-18 hour days 7 days a week to resolve all problems. We're glad to say that now we are starting to see results in the form of better operations across the whole site.
We also have many more exciting updates and changes to come so stay tuned, based on user feedback, so we are looking forward to a great 2012.
Here's an update of what's going on:
WEB UPLOADS
Uploads via the web are now much more reliable - our internal testing of hundreds of files last night produced absolutely no errors from small and large files - in total we had 55,000 successful uploads in the past 24 hours
FTP UPLOADS
We recently added ftp2.filefactory.com and are working on making the ftp process faster - FTP problems are normally the result of people uploading huge directories of thousands of (usually small) files without consideration for anyone else - we are working on a way to prevent this from slowing everyone else down. Hint: unless there is a particular reason you need to mirror entire directories, .zip folders instead before uploading
We are also planning on adding more ftp servers in the very near future
REMOTE UPLOADS
We are adding 3 x new remote upload servers this weekend. Again, delays are usually caused by some customers adding hundreds of files at a time which creates bottlenecks and puts everyone else's files in a queue.
ADDITIONAL STORAGE
Our new storage device should come online this weekend
We have 3 x new storage devices arriving next week, which will increase our entire storage capacity by 50%
NEW TORRENT UPLOADER
We are finally rewriting the torrent uploader, starting again from scratch, which will allow for faster downloads of torrents, and you will also be able to choose particular files from torrents instead of having to download the whole torrent. Also most problems are caused by people adding dozens of huge torrents at once so we are working on a way to manage this better as well
NEW TURBO UPLOADER
We are also about to begin rewriting the Turbo uploader - we are going to make this multi-platform so it will run on Windows, Macs and Linux
NEW FILEFACTORY SITE
We are currently revamping the entire FileFactory site, cleaning up page layouts, adding some cool new features and moving our images to a Content Distribution Network to allow faster page load times
NEW FILE MANAGER
Over the next few weeks we are rewriting the file manager - proposed new features include enabling individual files and folders to be password protected, trafficshare enabled, as well as a bunch of great new features. Accounts which have a large number of files will also load much better.
TRANSLATIONS
Over the next few months we are translating FileFactory into many other languages in order to better serve our international customers

Many others like Football offer Firmwares over Filefactory like here [ROMs]HTC Android ROMs over years!
And hes "Thanks Meter" is at 1485 ....so this says for me hes doing well
And its free to download and yes it free from where you download
So feel FREE
Have a nice day ^^

AFTVnews.com Temporarily Down

I know it's not relevant to everyone, but I've been contacted by a few people asking what's going on, so I figured I'd just make a post about it.
I decided to move the site to a more powerful server this morning. I regretfully trusted my web hosts "one-click" option and it royal botched things up. To make matters worse, it updated the DNS settings BEFORE the new server was up and running, which is why the site is down. I've reverted back to the old server for the time being, but it will take a while for the DNS change to propagate.
In summary: The site is down. I'm really sorry. I'm working on getting it back up as soon as possible.
Update @ 4:00pm PST: The DNS TTL is finally starting to expire, so the site should be coming back online for most. If it's not up for you yet, it should be within the hour. Again, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this caused.

Its a great site and resource for all things Fire TV. I've used it many times. Hope you are back up and running soon.
Any chance you could post your DNS records here so I can get to it now?
My 2nd FireTV just got here today and I went to view your guides on how to avoid auto-upgrading (if I'm lucky enough to have an older firmware) and I couldn't reach your page.
Nevermind - I used OpenDNS's cache check to get your working ip (208.113.161.249) and updated my DNS server to hard code it.. Just have to remember to delete it tomorrow..
thanks
Thanks for posting it. I was worried some may have happen. Like amazon tired something.good to know you and the site are ok. Keep up the good work.
its back online yay
Had a few questions about Fire TV news:
Do you know if/when the netflix app will get a new UI? Any recent news on hbo go app? Will they ever allow you to place games on external storage? Those are really the only issues i have with the device. Thanks, love your site.
Thanks for your efforts on your site. Its pretty much the defacto standard for AFTV stuff. I go there at least several times a week.
