Hi, I've noticed some issues watching videos on youtube. Some of them are ok, some of them after 10-20-40 minutes (really random) starts to lag, not responding to NP remote and after 30seconds youtube app crash and I can submit report.
I tried to clear cache, data etc but still same on random videos (I think it is HD videos)
When youtube crash and I want to submit report, sometimes also google services crashed all
Any idea what that can be and how to fix it? My network is ok, watching movies with KODI from my NAS or netflix is without problem
Update:
Ok it looks my NP has more issues than this. Yesterday my youtube stopped working, I tried to clear cache etc and nothing helped, it still showed no connection (play store the same) but when I removed and added my google account, everything started (but there was no network issue, netflix worked fine)
Same issue today again...and from nothing my sixaxis wont connect...ps3 controller just blinking but cannot pair even it worked day ago and nothing new was installed...I tried to pair it again but not working...so I just stop sixaxis and google settings service crash
It looks to me like system is just tearing appart and I dont want to go through system reset
Any idea how to fix this appreciated
ok I did factory reset, install basic apps like netflix, chrome, es file explorer and stickmount/foldermount then I tried sixaxis...installed ok, but when I try to pair via cable, gamepad is just blinking and cannot be found
I am lost, anybody similar issues with sixaxis these days?
sixaxis trick
ok so got sixaxis working finally...maybe this will help in the future to somebody else
I had to pair my ps3 controller with another android (hard reset using pinhole in back of the controller didnt help either) with sixaxis maping tool, then I set again in that tool bluetooth address of my NP and finally it gets connected
How do you get supersu to give sixaxis super user rights? If I have it set to prompt I have no way to click it as it disables bluetooth. I have it set to auto grant right now but don't want to keep it that way.
I've used my wireless keyboard which has its own controller so disabling bluetooth will not affect it

Anyone had any luck pairing their sixaxis controller with the s5?
I've managed it twice with the sixaxis controller app but it is hit and miss, and more often than not it won't pair at all.
This is via bluetooth. I've turned visibility to never timeout in the bluetooth settings, and the sixaxis controller app starts, and goes into "listening for controllers" but never sees the controller.
Not sure why it worked twice before.

I've never used it with a phone before, but on my computer I always have to make sure to run sixpair (to set the bluetooth mac address). Maybe you forgot to do that?
Nope definitely not that as I used the PC tool to pair it first.
And also like I say, its worked twice on the same phone same ROM but even those two times I had to try pair pair pair twenty times to get the connection to work.

Might as well answer my own question. Finally got this working, had to install the Extremely Debloated ROM which is missing a lot of samsung software, and now it works perfectly.
Something in stock must be interfering with the bluetooth.
Oh well, happy days.
couldnt get mine working. i turned off smart network, synced the controller using sixaxis app. now it works everytime with smart network on or off. im using phoenix rom v2 on my canadian variant. not to sure if smart network affects it but it did fix it for me.

whats was to debloated rom you used and which variant are you?
I found a solution that works for me:I installed Xposed Installer and then downloaded the Bluetooth Unlock 1.1.1 module. Tick the "all files" option in the Bluetooth Unlock module. Next, select preferences/settings/general settings and tick the Auto Start option in the Sixaxis Controller app. Restart your device. Wait for the Sixaxis app to start. Open Sixaxis and Stop the driver (I don't know why you have to do this but you do). Now, start the Sixaxis driver again. Press the PS button on the previously paired controller. It SHOULD connect.
Remember that the Sixaxis app will keep your screen on, so auto start Is not ideal but it seems that there is some interplay between the Sixaxis app/Bluetooth Unlocker and the BT protocols on startup.

Looks to be working for me so far, thanks!
I had this same problem and solved it by flashing the XtreStoLite rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
Now Sixaxis controller connects to PS3 controllers and recognizes the input.
I had the same issue with my att gs5 active. What I've found to work is reboot the phone. As soon as it boots go into the sixaxis app and hit start and hit the sync button on the controller. If it connects things are looking good but your not done yet. Wait about a minute or two and chances are the controller will disconnect. Then I hit stop and wait for it to finish (while your waiting hit the PS sync button on the controller) then as soon as you can hit start go ahead and hit it within a couple seconds. The controller should sync again and stay synced this time. I've even hit start then hit sync and that worked too. If you disconnect the app or do a step wrong you just have to restart and start over. I've played for an hour or two straight.
Also I bet with the solution above that installing xposed was just a coincidence. I don't think it's xposed per say making it work for you I think it's really just the restart of the phone then stop the sixaxis server then start it again like I'm doing that's making it work but ya never know not putting you down or anything but figured id post what's been working for me in case people want to try it first before installing more software.
You could be correct. Trying the simplest things first always makes sense.

From my understanding the DualShock4 PS4 Controller will work with the Shield TV when using USB/OTG cable. Has anyone tried pairing over Bluetooth?
I think the PS4 pad is the most balanced gamepad for thew type of gaming I do(mostly emu/retro gaming and occasional Android native games)and before I order one Id really like to hear from anyone who uses different types of gamepads
Yes, it works with the regular USB cable.
The PS4 controller can connect wirelessly to any android device using the closed source paid app Sixaxis Controller available on Google Play. This works quite well. If you adjust the settings and default mapping it can work just like a native Android gamepad and start the service on boot. Having tried it on my 16 GB model there are two caviats. Firstly it overrides the Bluetooth hardware to simulate a PS4, so you can't simultaneously connect any normal Bluetooth devices (such as the Shield remote). Luckily the Shield gamepad uses WiFi-direct. Secondly, for some reason the D-pad is unavailable during the gameplay of some games. This is no good for playing Half-Life 2. Also the non-default mapping doesn't play well with GTA San Andreas. Despite these issues I'm still glad I bought the Dualshock 4 (I don't have a PS4) because it's the nicest physical gamepad I've used, and the two issues I've listed are only software problems. My LG G3 running CM 12.1 nightlies can connect to the Dualshock 4 without the app but doesn't map well. Another cool thing about the Sixaxis Controller is that you can use the touchpad as a mousepad. Great for sideloaded apps. Oh and you need root to use Sixaxis Controller.
Got it. I was aware of sixaxxis for other android tablets/phones Ive used but for some reason I thought I had seen a youtube video of someone simply pairing a PS4 gamepad using the native Bluetooth pairing process. I may have been looking at a video of another device, not the ShieldTV
My Sony TV with built in Android TV has drivers for a PS4 Controllers to used via bluetooth, is there anyway I can extract the files to be used with the Shield TV?
Did you root the shield tv in order to use the sixaxis? Or did you change the master address and then pair as normal on the shield tv?

I rooted in order to use the Sixaxis Controller app. I never managed to pair it to the Shield TV via normal bluetooth (like I can with my phone). And the master address needs to be changed either way.

yeah I rooted my shield TV last night and using the Sixaxis appto run my Dualshock4 controller. Worked like a charm.
does the siaxais controller ps4 work with the nvidia shield for multiplayer?
The Sixaxis Controller app claims to be able to handle multiple PlayStation controllers but I haven't tested this. I can confirm that it works multiplayer using a DS4 and Shield Controller (which uses WiFi direct, so isn't affected by Sixaxis Controller overriding the Bluetooth hardware). Interestingly the DS4 now pairs with the Shield TV (via Bluetooth, without Sixaxis or root) and maps correctly as of firmware v2.1. Unfortunately it misses button presses and it's impossible to turn off the DS4 without unplugging the Shield or unpairing it (and it took about 20 attempts to pair). Sixaxis still works well but require root and disconnects all other Bluetooth devices. I'm fairly sure that you can pair DS4 controllers with Sony Android TVs out of the box.
will it work via a cable connected usb without a need for an app?
i want a second controller not sure which one to get
anyone using this with bluetooth be aware: if you leave the sixaxis app running for too long with dualshock bluetooth enabled, it may eventually disable bluetooth on your device when trying to go back.
ive been through 2 different nexus players, as well as a shield tv and all have ended up disabling OS bluetooth, even when turning off the sixaxis bluetooth, resulting in requring either a factory reset or android terminal installed and typing in some commands to get it to work again. What causes the issue seems to be random, as sometimes i can leave the app running and come back and it still works, other times it doesnt though. you can still use the nvidia controller since it runs via wifi, but the remote and any other bluetooth devices wont work. this issue is a random event and doesnt always occur, but it IS there, and its a pain to get it working again.
Perhaps someone can find a compatible app to sideload to enable/disable bluetooth in case this happens? would be much easier than typing in terminal commands.
does itwork fine wired ? and is it a better controler

Yeah, I experienced the same issues in just my first time pairing a DS4 controller with the Sixaxis app... Also, like others mentioned on here, the default layout is a bit weird (Options=Select; Share=Back, etc) which means a lot of customizing in games, etc. Also, the service doesn't always auto-start that well so sometimes it takes some time to get it 'connected and ready to go' and I don't like how the app takes over Bluetooth while it's running. The only thing I did like is that the touchpad feature does work well (as long as the app supports 'Mouse input'), but overall I didn't think it's worth the hassle if I have to this every time I want to use the controller.
BTW, in case your Bluetooth becomes disabled while using this app, the command that worked for me (in adb shell) is:
Code:
su
service call bluetooth_manager 6
Has anyone successfully paired the shield with a DS4 without the sixaxis app? My shield can see the controller (listed as wireless controller) but they can't seem to pair.

Same thing happened to me although I only had the app for about 2 hours before it disabled BT. I couldn't get it to work while installed, and i am rooted. I don't believe it works in the newest firmware 3.0.
What did you use to write those commands? Would adb minimalist work? Same app used to root the shield?

Well, I used the Nvidia Shield TV Utility App to get into an adb shell, but Minimal should work just as well. Just make sure to run the 'adb shell' command before you run the commands I listed on my post above..
I used terminal Emulator on the device and it worked great. Turned BT back on

Before rooting and buying the app I'd know if I can connect more than DS4 via bluetooth.. Anyone tried it?
thanks!
I got a Galaxy Tab 4 for Christmas, bought from Amazon for $119.00. Chromecast and OK Google both seem to not be working and I've done some extensive trouble shooting.
With Chromecast, I have a Sony XBR850C with built in AndroidTV and the tablet makes a connection and then immediately ends when casting. I've tried it with the Chrome browser on my Mac and it works flawlessly so I'm ruling out the TV as the cause.
With OK Google it doesn't allow me to train the voice model, it just sits at "Listening" when it asks me day OK Google 3 times. If I chose "finish Later" it takes me to the Google Now screen, I type the mic button and it hears me fine. I've tried uninstalling the updates and everything else I found online that is supposed to help but nothing did.
That's two of Google's core services that won't work on the phone. Everything else seems to be copacetic but I need those two things to work. I got the tablet to serve as a "living room device." It's basically a remote for my entertainment system and home automation devices but I'm a cord cutter so sometimes I'll need to cast from it.
Any thoughts on why these two features won't work? Do they share a common function that could be defective? Maybe the hardware is bad? Orr maybe there's something I'm not doing right but I don't think that's it.
My tab 4's OK google doesn't work also. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. My chromecast is fine. If you are using a automation app and it is set to turn off WiFi once screen is off (for battery savings), that could end the connection. Sorry if I'm not of much help, I am still a great noob
Bought mine on the Prime deal recently at very good price and all seems ok except iplayer runs for about 8 mins then just stops and returns to shield home screen. I have tried unistalling update which is as far as you can go and then updating and makes no difference, I have even sideloaded the standard android app which just stops but not to home screen.
So far it seems to be just this app as I have Amazon video running with no problems as well as Kodi and spmc .
My Fire tv runs iplayer with no problems.
Anyone else in Uk have this problem or anyone any suggestions please.
how long has it been happening for? if it's only been for a day or so, I'd be inclined to suspect that the problem is with the iplayer service, rather than with the app, and it will sort itself out.
I tend to access iplayer through the kodi add-on rather than the app, but the times I have used the app it's worked fine. however, I have very occasionally encountered the same problem you're having over the years, going back to the iplayer add-on for xbmc on the original xbox. it seems to just be a thing that happens sometimes, possibly when lots of people are trying to use it at the same time.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, seems strange it works prefectly on Fire tv yet even the sideloaded unofficial just freezes at about the same running time ( I have uninstalled that version now as it is no better)
I will contact Nvidia direct as they only seem to reply to praise on twitter.
Anoying as everything else seems ok.
strange. have you tried going into settings>apps, scrolling along to the iplayer app, force closing it, clearing cache and data, then let it reinstall any updates that you removed?

yes tried all that and more thats why I posted to see if was just me that was having trouble.
well, I have encountered that problem, but it's only ever been temporary. have you tried the iplayer add-on for kodi/spmc? I think there's a version of it available in the basic kodi add-on repository.
also is it happening with both wired and wireless network connections, or only wireless?

yes I can use kodi/spmc but I would like the working app and as yours is ok it must be something on my system.
It may be wifi as I only use that but everything else runs fine and it seems to be approx 8 to 9 mins then crashes.
Again thanks for suggestions and I will update if I resolve the issue.
wifi seems the likely cause, if everything else is working well. I shall try it myself with my ethernet cable disconnected and see if I have the same problem.
it's possible that iplayer is buffering inconsistently because it's connected through wifi, and it's being too quick to decide that the stream has failed.
I think it's also defaulting to the highest bitrate stream. maybe try going into the iplayer settings and changing the video settings, so it's not trying to stream in full hd.
and just in general, I recommend having a wired connection whenever possible. the less wireless traffic in your house, the better everything works. ethernet cables for static devices, save your wifi for phones and tablets etc.
Contacted customer care and they went through the obvious which I double checked then they came back with....
"Thank you for the update with the requested details, further to isolate the issue if you have remote paired while accessing BBC iplayer then could you please first un-pair the remote and then run BBC iplayer for sometime and check."
To my surprise I unpaired remote and used standard game controller and...................... it works.
I have just asked them why this resolves the issue, I'll post when updated.
lol, fair enough

Did you get a response about why the remote issues resolves the problem?
I ask as my parents are using the iPlayer app which since the last update and are facing this issue. Are you saying that using TV remotes with CEC enabled is causing this issue?
They have had the issue on two different types of TV (Panasonic and Samsung).
When using a wireless Xbox One controller using bluetooth, the controller sometimes seems to not register input and just remember the last pressed button and keep broadcasting it, then start working again. The controller is working perfectly, tested with another phone and my pc as well. What can cause such behaviour and did anyone else run into such a thing? If yes how did you fix it?
