Hello,
Yesterday I received my new Nexus 4 and after inserting the sim card (cut by myself with scissors) started receiving a notification saying "Sign in to network" and below that the name of my carrier (movistar Nicaragua). When I click on the notification, the browser opens and tries to load the url (I can't post the url because of forum restrictions, i am a new user) . After a while, the browser redirects me to my network operator web page. I cannot use data apps like Whatsapp in the meantime. I didn't have this issue with the same SIM card on my previous phone (HTC One S).
Is anybody having the same issues? I am on stock 4.2.1 unrooted
I guess your service provider needs you to log on to some GATEWAY !?
Like in wifi networks it happens sometimes ... and it asks to enter username and password of your account !
I have this same issue. on Net10. any updates on this?
Get a real micro sim. Don't use a cut down one.
Man, I’m from Honduras, using tigo, that’s not an issue of your phone, it’s a carrier issue, you should go to movistar and make them fix it, it is like something is blocking your internet connection, they put some restrains on it so that you have to pay for some extra connection.
I have a regular T-Mo micro sim and it's happened to me a few times. I just restart my phone.
My phone showed that twice today, never happened since having the nexus 4 since December..I'm in the U.S. on Tmobile

Have the same problem Here
Hey guys, i just have the same problem here.
It has been 10days till now
currently using galaxy s4, android 4.2.2, from Indonesia (carrier's : XL Axiata)
Does anyone know how to fix this problem ??
It will very helpful to me, cause i'm very annoyed of this notification
this notification (Sign into Network) pop up nearly 10 times a day.
I have several times contacted the carrier (XL) and the samsung centre too, but both didn't know what is the problem.
Thank you.
Hi. First of all this is my first post here.
The same problem as above post.
And then i try to do something. I went to phone type * #*#info#*#* and turn on the ims registration and no notification pop out anymore.
But. I noticed mobile data is very slow after that.
So i just return it to default "off"
Still looking for a clue. Anybody have the answer?

I have a cut Sim too. When I first got my phone, it asked me to sign in, but I didn't have an account with my carrier other than my billing account. Over a period of time the notification went away and everything is working fine.
Edit: try switching mobile data ports and on and do a phone restart. This stopped the notification.

I got my xperia Z since April, I got the same notification twice since last week
I also got a second signal bar.. I took some screenshots
I started getting this on my nexus 5 recently. I had reached my monthly fair usage limit so I went to settings -> data usage and moved the usage warning bar up a couple 100mb and that stopped the warning notification.
Experiencing this as well.

FWIW, I had it for about a week on ATT prepaid, though this was because I had zero available data left. Once I added more to my account, data started working and it stopped asking me to sign in. I think it just automatically displays that when it can't get a data connection.

Yep, this seemed to be an issue. When I have reached my limit it started to appear.

I have the same problem. It make notification at the time u linked to mobile data too, and i can't suffer it any more.So i have searched all internet and have no progress. But i found the way to block its notifications rather than voiding generation.
It's a notification generated from "Android System" and seems like a network-check function. So the problem have the mobile carrier's part(I'm in china, you know). And u can't block all notifications of "Android System" using tools like LBE or Gravitybox or anyothers cause it is useful all the time.
This Xposed Mod can help us: NotifyClean, it is the only tool to block several notifications u want of one app.
Use it in ur rooted system with xposed framework, and open it from xposed. It can log all notifications and u can tick the "Sign in to network"s in "Android System".
Hi guys,
I'm trying to tether my rooted S4 with FoxFi today and it has suddenly stopped working. It was working great until today, but now it launches the stock mobile tethering app (I believe it always did this, even when it was working), but then as soon as it launches, I get a notification that pops up from Verizon which says this feature is only allowed if you pay for a tethering subscription. Then it gives me a couple of options if I want to add that to my plan.
Anyone else getting this?
Suggestions?
Thanks

I searched around before deciding to make a new thread. Did not see anything specific to what I had a question about, unless it is buried deep in another thread.
Is there a suggested de-bloat list for the Verizon Note 3 running on the OB6 Lollipop firmware? For NON-ROOTED phones.
What I have turned off so far has not caused any issues seen yet.
I would like to make sure that the packages that track data usage are turned off, as well as any apps that report back to Verizon.
Would greatly appreciate if someone could post even a partial list to get this started.
I would also like to add that I am using the free version of FoxFi and tether is working!
You install FoxFi, then when you try to check the start tether box for the first time, it will make you setup a lock screen pin/pattern. After that it will install a certificate.
Once you have that done, when you try to enable tether again, it pops up a message that will take you to the Default built in tether. Once you click to enable that, tether starts working.
Here is something odd I noticed.
You can go back into the FoxFi app once you are tethered and working, then turn off tether WITHIN the FoxFi app. The default hotspot app remains enabled and continues to work.
Anyone else notice this? Also wondering if the FoxFi data limit is still imposed after you turn the tether off in its app.

Unless you are on a grandfathered unlimited data plan, Verizon's Hotspot should already be usable even without WiFi. Last I saw...all Verizon tiered data plans included hotspot.

Hi guys. This started with me having unfix-able, horrible wifi at my house leading me to look for a good mobile data plan where I can just hotspot (or tether) 4g off my SGH-1337 Galaxy s4 onto my desktop.
I got this phone in America (April 2014) on AT&T and then moved back to Australia (Late 2014). I unlocked it successfully and legitimately and it has been fine ever since using the provider Optus.
I found a decent plan with lots of data then went to check if my hotspot worked only to find it doesn't work and after some research I found out AT&T do something to restrict it after being unlocked; which I find to be ridiculous, why do they do this? When I pressed turn on hotspot it would say in small text at the bottom of the screen "mobile data is not available or invalid sim".
I then found a solution using Titanium backup but needed to root my phone first. After figuring that out (took about 4 different applications) using TowelRoot, I got Titanium backup and I backed up and uninstalled these two apps that apparently are the ones that cause this restriction. They are "Tetheringautomation 1.0.1." and "TetheringProvision 4.06.70". After doing this, hotspot worked for a few seconds then it turns off and displays this new error message: "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." with a box and a prompt to press okay.
I've tried enabling the hotspot through widgets and through ES File Explorer's Net Manager and the same thing still happens.
I've tried clearing the cache and starting in safe mode and both did the same thing (after clearing the cache it worked for 5 seconds then gave the error, after this first time it gave the error straight away after that.).
I then tried this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2791938 with the xposed's x tether. After installing it and restarting my phone, the hotspot worked for about 20 seconds, I found it on my computer and connected to it but google.com wouldn't load (so I guess it wasn't working properly) and then it dropped out and turned off. Now it is back to saying the same: "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.".
I posted this elsewhere and was told to try the app fixes 'TrevE Mod for wifi tether' and 'Foxfi'. I tried both multiple times and still getting the same error message.
I tried another solution off the xda forums specific to my phone model and AT&T issue. It involved going to system/apps and renaming both tethering automation files then replacing them with a file that was provided in the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2535141
After doing the whole process twice to make sure I did it right, It still didn't work, it gives me the first error message: "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM" and I definitely have the 4g on and have double checked that it is working.
I have no idea what to do now, I've googled everything I can think of and read too many threads. I'm going to post this to multiple forums for coverage. Here on xda I will post here and in the General Q&A section too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/issues-hotspot-tether-unlocking-att-t3181039
The build number is NC1. And I'm on 4.4.2. The hotspot worked fine when I was in America on AT&T. Tethering also gives me the same error message.
I am at wits end and have no idea what to do now. Please Please help me! I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks for even reading my issues, I really want this hotspot to work asap.

Hey Here Problem Solution .. First Download And Install Then Follow
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Grand Prime which I have network unlocked for use here in my country. The service is ok but I noticed a peculiar issue. Whenever I switch on the wifi the mobile data comes on as well and cannot be shut off; each time I shut it off manually it comes back on again. It only goes off when I switch wifi off. I thought it was one of the bloatware apps triggering this so I rooted and disabled all T-Mobile apps yet the issue keeps coming up. Now I saw somewhere else where someone was trying to sell his T-Mobile Moto X and it has the same issue. I don't know if anyone has encountered this before and if there is a fix because it's eating into my mobile data plan and I would want to fix it for good.
Thanks.
