Game Controller Help (SteelSeries "Free") + SD Card Question - Nvidia Tegra Note 7

First off this is the controller I'm trying to use: http://steelseries.com/us/products/controllers/steelseries-free-laptop-wireless-controller
It gets mixed reviews due to the price vs. the controller, but I got one open box and I figured if those were the only complaints then I'll be fine...
I don't believe I have ever got this controller to work properly since owning it and I'm not sure why. The Bluetooth shows it connected and recognizes what it is right off the bat (I do leave input device checked I am assuming..) and even the SteelSeries Android software shows the controller connected in there.
What is the problem here?? Games that show controller icons will still not interact, hell nothing will interact. When you have a controller hooked up it is supposed to emulate a mouse and let you navigate your tablet without touching it.
Also can someone tell me where I can find my SD Card, there are only about 4 instances of the term SD Card (0,1,etc). My TN7 is running stock latets 4.4.2 and is rooted. I'm trying to use MoonReader for books I have on my SD Card.

Dualshock 3 refuses to work via OTG

Morning.
Last week or so I've been trying to get my PS3 Dualshock 3 Sixaxis controller working with my Nexus 7 via the Micro USB port, and I'm about to give up completely.
I've googled enough to make my head spin, so this is pretty much my last hope for a solution. I've tried with 4.1.1, 4.1.2 & 4.2.2.
I've mailed the developers of the apps mentioned below, but have yet to recieve any response. This was done more than just 1-2 days ago.
I've tried with & without rooting.
The controller works fine when connecting it to my computer & Transformer Prime. It's been close to fully charged all the time.
The Gameklip cable & the OTG-cable works. I can access HDD's, flashdrives & even the SD-card on my PSP.
While using the OTG-cable, I've tried with different USB - Mini USB cables.
Sixaxis Controller using Bluetooth works fine, not a single problem there. I can also add my Nexus 7's MAC-address to the controller via the app without any trouble.
USB/BT Joystick Center 8 finds the controller, but refuses to accept any input from it. The same developer has released a joystick analyzer, and it recognizes the correct vendor & product ID of the controller.
The keylayout file exists & is correctly mapped in my usr/keylayout directory. I've also tried using the Transformers keylayout on the Nexus 7.
And here's the kicker, the spare Gamestop Xbox 360 controller I've got laying around works without a problem. Which almost led to me frisbeeing this ****ing thing out the window. And even though it works, it's not a viable alternative for me since it doesn't fit in the Gameklip.
At this point I'm up for crazy ideas, so any help, no matter how far out there, is appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and if you have any ideas that might help, thanks in advance!

Sorry for the thread resurrection here but I have searched high and low on the internet and this is the only thing that I find that comes close to the same exact problem I am having. The only difference is I have a galaxy s3 running cyanogenmod 10.2. Same issue on 10.1. I can get a wired 360 controller to work just fine and even a Wii classic controller with a USB adapter to work. No Dualshock 3 though. You ever able to fix this?

Preping for the Sheild to arrive.

I've ordered my shield, it should arrive on the 23rd.
While I wait I thought I would get some suggestions for things I may want to do before it arrives; download software, buy any accessories, etc.
My current PC wont be able to stream with out something like SplashTop. I'm building a new rig in the next few months but until then I have to rely on the shield's hardware till then.
Section 1: PC Prep.
*note: I have never used an android device before, but I'm a quick adapter.
1• Is there any software I should get installed on my PC now before it arrives?
2• Is there any shield rom files I should look into at this point?
Section 2: Android-ware
I am sure this has been discussed a lot already:
1• As a first time Android user, could i get some suggestions for some of the better:
1•2 Games for the shield.
1•3 General Apps.
2• I am a big nostalgia gamer, love just about any and all consoles/hand-helds I can emulate, I was wondering which are the best emulators out there so far?
*by that I mean the name of the best emulator per console, not just what systems it can emulate.
Section 3: Accessories
1• Would like to know if there are any "must have" accessories to get for the shield, be they specific for the shield or a general product, I'd like to know.
2• I saw the Nyko docking unit, and know it isn't available yet. I was wondering would one of those wireless charge pad things work? If so can you suggest a good one?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
On the PC part of the beauty of android compared to iOS or windows phone is the fact that you need *no* software. Plug micro USB into shield, plug other end into PC. It might do the installing device driver screen as a formality but after that it will be listed as a device in my computer, you can open it and browser around the contents of the SD card and Shield storage. Great huh?
Just drag and drop your music into the relevant folders, I no longer have a working android device so I dont recall what the correct folder actually is, I think it might be sdcard/media/audio, although creating a new folder called Music in the root directory of either the external SD or the internal storage (extsd and sdcard respectively) and sticking it in there works. There are itunes plugins for those that prefer them, think there is a way for windows media player to sync libraries too.
ROMs I dont think there are any for the Shield yet, one is being worked on but for now if your new to android, ignore.
Plenty of android games out there. 2 casual games to get started, beach buggy blitz and Dead Trigger (both support hardware controls hence why I mention them, and they are free). But seriously, there are tons.
I cant live without ES File Explorer. Beyond that, I tend to get BBC news and steam, I steer well clear of the facebook app as that just annoys me (browser it) but do keep twitter. None of them particularly support the shield controls though.
There are lists online of like the 50 must have android apps and games etc. Take a look at them.
Emulator wise someone posted a list of their favourite emulators for the shield covering quite a large range of console. The Shield will emulate anything right upto PS1 and N64. Might do more powerful still, but that would require someone to make an emulator for that. Anything below PS1 or N64 it should be fine with. Retroarch is meant to be a good start. Some consoles you may require a bios file first (primarily PS1) which is copyrighted material so no one on XDA can tell you where to get it unfortunately.
The wireless charge mats require a device which supports wireless charging. The shield doesnt. No one makes a skin for the shield with a wireless charge coil yet either (they did for some other devices). Only android accessory that I get as a must have is a USB host cable. Awesome little tools, microUSB plug on one side and a USB socket on the other so you can plug mice and keyboards into your android device. Otherwise, just make sure you have a micro USB cable around, maybe some headphones and a microSD.

[PSA] Shield Controller DOES work with other Android's via USB OTG

Thought I would quickly put this out there, since I posed the question whether this could work in the "Shield Tablet revealed" thread while I awaited my controller and nobody seemed bothered to test it out. Background info is that Nvidia's site states that it can be used for wired play also, although the controller manual itself specifically states it won't work with other Androids or PC at the moment.
Plugged it in via USB OTG to my Note 3, and whattaya know, it works fine.
Tried Dead Trigger 2, perfect. Riptide 2, perfect. Jet Set Radio, perfect. Should note that even the capacity keys for volume/back/recent apps etc work. Tried PPSSPP and no problems there either, was even able to map the capacitive keys.
Next up: test with PC. May not have time tonight, so if someone else wants to take a punt and help the community out by all means try it and report back.
[UPDATE] Plugging into PC saw some generic USB input device drivers installed, which seemed very hopful, but couldn't get it to work with Dolphin. Will try again tomorrow with a couple of other programs.
Should add too that the controllers volume buttons have a nice distinct tactile click to them - I'm no having issues with them of the kind several reviews mentioned. I wonder whether Nvidia taking a moment to fix them following initial reviews resulted in the shortage of controllers for a time (as well as I think they underestimated how strong demand would be).
I'm really hoping there will be PC compatibility in the future. i have too many controllers. my laptop has an OK keyboard so I get away with not taking a full size keyboard with me on trips, but I always have at least a mouse, moga pro, and Xbox 360 controller. now that I have the shield controller I can leave the moga behind, but I'd like to dump the mouse and 360 controller as well.
Yes, adding PC use would make this a much more valuable gamepad. If you're listening Nvidia, make a small receiver dongle with micro USB OTG and full sized PC connectors so that we can keep it wireless in all use-case scenarios.
Worth noting I've only tried it on one program on PC, and even there only briefly, some others should take a look and see what they can do.

one stop thread for problems that most people encountered. Please share your solution

Instead of new comers squandering around looking for solutions to set up the nexus player for gaming and media streaming. Lets simplify things a bit to see what accessories to get and what software to use to get our nexus player to its maximum capability.
Lollirock 1.5 rom (OTG micro usb cable and a usb mouse or keyboard are required during first bootup. It will not detect nexus remote during first bootup)
Stick mount pro(Play Store) Make sure it's the pro version or else it won't work!-
- A must have for external storage. This app enables storage drives to mount into a specific location using symbolic link option which isn't included in the free version. By default, it will mount storage devices under sdcard/usb folder instead of usb:// mount location (apps like emulators or xbmc that uses file explore do not search to this location usb://)
- I have tested it on xbmc, my boy, fpse, and ppsspp.
Known issue: external storage formatted under ntfs will not mount properly. Files will not show up under mount folder.
I'm currently using exFAT format and it seem to work fine so far.
For those who uses stock Nexus Player rom, you have to download stick mount pro from a third party site since the license won't transfer(I'm assuming that you paid for it)
Sixaxis controller(Play Store)
- Can pair up to 2 controllers for two players games. There's also a setting to set dual shock 3 or 4 to run as native android controller, so you don't have to deal with mapping everything manually.
My suggestion
Accessories : Rii 8 wireless touchpad keyboard(Amazon) mini keypad with track pad and qwerty keyboard.
Logitech keyboard k700
Ps4 controller
Inateck card reading+Hub(Amazon) -
- It very important to choose the right otg micro usb cable because it can effect read/write speed for external storage drives, including low power consumption drives such as usb flash drives and sd cards. This hub can run with or without a secondary power source.
I thought something like a flash drive with a low power consumption didn't require a decent otg cable, but it does. I was testing a psp rom off my usb storage with a much simpler micro usb otg cable and the frame rate wasn't that great also the loading time. Transfer files were also very slow. So keep that in mind, make sure to get a decent micro usb otg hub or card reader. At least get one that you can supply power to from an outlet.
For those who are looking to run Amazon prime video, download Kodi (xbmc) and Amazon prime video add-on zip.
-Amazon instant video app is crappy on android to begin with compare to IOS version which has a more user friendly UI similar to Netflix. Kodi improves that with cover arts and tv-friendly user interface.

Have you used sixaxis before? I'm just wondering., so I can help you figure out the issue.
I have but I think the problem is I didn't see a Bluetooth address when I set it up on the Nexus player maybe I have to fix the zoom setting in the overscan setting on my Nexus player to see it

[Q] Can't get wireless Xbox 360 controller to be recognized?

Hi, I've got a bit of an issue.
I'm trying to use a wireless Xbox 360 controller to play gamesd on my Lg G2.
The device is rooted, running stock Android 4.2.2, and is the At&T model.
This is my setup: Xbox 360 wireless reciever (aftermarket, but it confirmed works on my pc),
connected to a USB-OTG cable (confirmed working, with a usb drive, keyboard, and mouse),
connected to the micro USB port on my device (again, confirmed working).
The LED's on the reciever light up, and I can "pair" my controller with it, but after "paring", all four lights on the controller are still blinking, and my phone does not recognize it as a controller.
I've searched around, and could not find much help on this topic for this device.
If anyone knows what's going wrong here, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I'm not sure if that would work, I would imagine the phone would need the drivers for that dongle.
You can pair a Wiimote or a PS3/4 control to it though. But you can always get a wired control for the 360, I would presume that should work.
I got it to work, using the methods described here.
But, now there's just a small issue. In any game i play with the controller, it's rather hard to control, as there is virtually no thumbstick "dead zone". What I mean, is, if the thumbstick is moved even millimeters from its default point, the character on screen starts to move. And 360 controller thumbsticks have a bit of wiggle-room for moving the sticks before it's actually supposed to do anything, so this is rather annoying.
Does anyone know how i can adjust the dead-zone of my controller?
(I've tried this in multiple games; Modern Combat 5, Dead Trigger, and the like.)
