My son bought a Galaxy S5 from a pawn shop but when he put in his Sim Card it was Carrier Locked. He went to T-Mobile and was told that the phone is locked by them because the previous owner had not paid his commitment on the device and there was nothing they could do for him.
It there a way to unlock this device? I have been searching but haven't found anything related to this type of locked device.
Suggestions and help is appreciated

Hi,
I just moved to the US and have a German Note 3 which is free for all carriers. My employer gave me a Verizon SIM to be used while being in the US.
I cannot activate the phone with the SIM and Verizon tells it won't work since the phone is not a Verizon Note 3.
Is there any way to flash the phone with a Verizon firmware or open it to a Verizon SIM in another way?
The phone does not have the region lock from Samsung anymore since I have used it in Germany for a month with a local provider.
Thanks much
Torsten

Can't be done. Verizon variant has different radios and Verizon won't activate non-Verizon devices on their network anyway.
Thanks. So now I have a international Note 3 for sale ...

I just replaced the girlfriends phone with a new Samsung S4 and it came with a massive sticker on the side to say it will only work in Europe but is sim unlocked etc.
After reading a few pages it seems that Samsung now lock phones to regions similar to the Note 3 but now seems to be present on the 3rd S4 I have.
I was wondering does this mean she cannot buy a sim from outside of Europe and use it in the phone and is there a way to unlock it without rooting because it came with knox and she replaces her phone every other month due to damage.

You need to use the phone with a European sim for about 5 voice call minutes (total gsm conversation, any received our sent call or calls), and then it will get region unlocked.

This is what i thought but after speaking to a Samsung Service Centre they said that the only way to remove / disable it is to bring the device to them, leave it for a week so they can contact Samsung with software codes etc and unlock it.
I am not too sure what they can do as other reports say that this cannot be disabled.
This will be put to the test tomorrow when i test out a foreign sim in it
Hello,
Is there a way to unlock the factory locked (Verizon, etc..) Galaxy S5, and make it work with any phone network in the world?
Please tell me about all the possible ways. Thank you.
I bought my S5 from a Canadian carrier which had network locked the phone.
All it took to unlock my S5 was a simple unlock code and a sim card from an alternate service provider.
Depending on where you look, you can find unlock codes online for varying prices, I bought my unlock code from cellunlocker.net and it took me roughly 5 hours to receive the code via email from them. All I needed to do afterwards was input the provided unlock code and my phone was instantly network unlocked.

was it cheaper to buy from a carrier then buy a separate unlock code compared to other methods of buying?

What about Sprint? And does that mean it could be used with AT&T or T-Mobile?

Yes sometimes it was cheaper to get unlock code from other source rather than from a carrier. i try several times phoneunlockingshop.ca and find it cheaper then the carrier here in Canada
I know their are services I just wonder if anyone has actually used one yet on their ATT S7 and how that went? Thanks.
I used http://mobileunlocked.com. They sent it in a day and a half for 25 bucks. They sent 3 codes. I only needed the network unlock though. Great service and it works. Unlocked an att branded phone I got from Craigslist.
You can www.unlockradar.com , they sell genuine unlocking codes for Galaxy S7 or any other phone.
