About to bite the bullet and goto a monthly contract with O2, was trying to get the HTC HD, but they said they wont be getting it within the next three months. Is that because Orange as a timed exclusive? Or because its a direct rival to the iphone?
Anyhoo, think I will be getting the Sony Xperia...i keep reading reviews saying its really slow when switching between panels, the user interface isnt too good etc.
Now, I know you guys here at xda-dev know your $hit and would be the best to ask.
What you think? Yeah or Neigh?
I have a few questions if anybody with an Xperia can answer?
1)
Hows it for video playback? Does it take up the full screen when you switch to landscape?
2)
Does it play full 700mb dvdrips ok via core media player or do you still need to convert them with some encoder
3)
Web browsing with Opera (with Flash)...any good?
4)
Speed of the overall user-interface, is it as slow as the reviews make out? Or if you use one xda-devs custom roms does this get round it?
5)
TV out, i read somewhere on this forum that it might have tv out? Or am i talking $hite
Thanks for any advice and tips folks!
Hey fracmo2000
Welcome to xda-developers.com
Here's a few answers, hope it helps.
1)It obviously depends on the aspect ratio of the video, when using core player i have it set to automatically stretch the video to the screen size and it works perfect.
2) I have been able to play dvdrips via core player, with no lag whatso ever!!
3)Opera Mobile is great, the no scrollbars idea takes quite a lot of getting used to, for example scrolling down to the x1 thread on xda developers takes quite a while.
Sorry I cannot give any feedback on flash
4)This is a fast phone, who has reviewed it to be slow. But yes the custom roms here makes it blazing fast
5)No TV- OUT sorry, just gonna have to live with that
I've had this phone for a month now, was on holiday and didnt really look into customizing it untill recently, so as stock phone it was amazing.
Then i descovered xda-developers.com and havent been able to stop.
Some times i do however regret choosing this phone, but thats only cause its not completely finger friendly, but the people here are working on that and as soon as there's a proper landscape fixed tf3d cooked rom or pointui 2 is released this will be one of the best phones i've ever used, or seen.
Good phone, love it
1. I'm able to watch using all the width in landscape mode
2. I've watch 350mb TV rips using CorePlayer fine.
3. I like Opera, Flash is a bit useless as it supports early versions (but this is the same with all WinMos)
4. Other than the odd time opening Messaging taking 5 seconds, everything else is really fast.
5. No sign of TV out at the mo.
artesea
How is that?
My messaging opens blazing fast, keep it in the background.
How many emails you have??
As for flash, it's great since it supports YouTube.
It's about a one in three when messaging needs to open from scratch. Have no more than 50 emails in the box. Not a massive problem though.
Strange,
I got like 500 in 3 accounts and it's so fast...
Hey there fellow xperia user wannabe.....
I went from noob to pro using xda developers and here is my take on the x1.
1 - Perfect. Yes.
2 -Yous till need to convert them for best results. Core player doesn't support hardware acceleration...YET.
3 - Amazing. As good as my PC.
4 - The reviewers had earlier versions of the phone with unfinished software. The x1 is laggy sometimes but overall its faster than any other machine i had previously owned or touched.
5 - Nope
Let me add that the possibilities of customization are infinite...
Maybe you have to consider this one too. I am very dissappointed ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447211
I hope they willfix this but i don't know should i wait couple of months more...
Got myself a shiney new Xperia Whooooooooooo! Wanted it in black, but o2 doesnt do it for whatever reason.
Well pleased with it, only a few gripes but tis all good! Been reading up on the ROMs...does it make that much difference? I read some people where having stability issues?
Hey guys,
I bought my GNote in Feb 2012 but I would have gotten a iPhone 4s if I didn't already own an iPod but I was really upset over the OS (not the phone or specs) missing so much iOS features which I'm used to on my iPod. I switched to PA and though that rom is so much more better than GB, it still lacks some stuff. I still depend heavily on my iPod a lot. Recently my iPod after alot of abuse is giving way and the bottom part of the screen doesn't respond to touch, though useable I can't use it much and its now become a YouTube and music player only.
I will be getting the next Gen iPhone when its out (hopefully sooner than later). I'm not complaining at all or hating android, its unique but it isn't meant for me (and I'm far to dependent on iOS). I don't want to get another iPod because I'm sick of the switching between devices and my iPod can't do much without wifi (affecting my iMessage usage a lot) and I just want to keep all my major usage to one device and keep it simple.
I created this thread to ask what you guys do with your own Notes other than the obvious calling and texting and web browsing etc. I bought the Note on a 2 year contract and I don't want it collecting dust after getting the new iPhone. I still want use the device for the minor stuff or when my iPhone is charging or when I can't use it. I intend to use my note for when I'm home since my sim on my note will go to the new phone and it isn't much without connection to the net. So far I intent to use my note for reading books when I'm home/before bed, use for videos and note taking (obviously) and use Google music. What else do you guys do on your notes?

How can you go smaller once you´ve had the Note?.. Why do you want iPhone so bad? What kinda features are missing on the Note?.. What you can do on the iPhone, you can do on the Note BUT what you can do on the Note, you can not do it on the iPhone!..
What does the iPhone offer that the Galaxy Note doesn't, or do you merely want to be a sheep and follow the Apple fad? If you give us what you find the iPhone offers over the Note, chances are someone here will find a way of doing that just as good - if not better- on the Note.

Well said... when my friends look at my note and say "Your phone is too big..." I usually reply with "I think your phone is too small", I open the browsers of both phones, open a website like f1-live or nba.com place them side by side and smirk. (And this is not directed at the iPhone in particular, half of them are on other Samsung models and HTCs.
We also work a lot with PDF apps to highlight and make notes on pdfs... guess who doesn't have to bring an extra stylus in his pocket or an ipad or another tablet.
Honestly, the GNote killed other phone models for me...

well I know that but I sorta don't have an issue with it as I said I do use an iPod and note together so I sorta got used to going big then small but anyways the iPhone is rumoured to have a big screen at least 4 so hopefully its true. And fortunately no I'm not a sheep following apple, I have used both kinds of devices extensively and I'm not surprised you guys questioning about apple OS, sorta expected and the same thing will happen on apple forums with them questioning android but to be more specific about what I get from iOS that android doesn't offer:
iCloud integration (contacts calendars being in sync) which I value so much
Photo stream
iCloud backup so no need to plug to PC to backup
iTunes and app store that is available where I live unlike play store where I can't buy anything but games apps and not all of the are available to my phone specific.
Pages app that keeps sync with my iPad using iCloud so I can switch between devices when doing work
And the cool new thing with just having to pull down the notification centre to update Fb status
All around dictionary built on so I just have to high light a word and tap define for meaning and not copy then paste on google
And reader feature on safari which is AMAZING
Good ol' iMessage
I can go on the the list just gets longer and before you guys quote me and start saying, this apps replaces this feature and adding this method in replaces that thing or that's stupid and useless and not needed, I am used to the iOS system and the convenience of it. I know android also has its perks and due to the open source there is several rooms that you can pick from giving you different experiences with your phone.
Let's not argue on apple sucks and android rules or what not and get back to topic. I for one will be playing certain games OK my note instead because of the big screen like gta and Batman. So what other uses are there for the note?

Sounds to me like you are very comfortable with IOS and I don't see a problem with that. You've been open minded about trying Android and it doesn't work for you. Such is life.
Rather than try to find uses for your GNote, why not sell it. (Preferably before the release of the GNote II).
Wotsup is right.
Good on you for trying out Android.
Sometimes i think to myself, how can anyone use iOS? It has less functionality, and there are so many restrictions. Everything looks the same, the home screen is so ugly.
Although I'm not a huge fan of Apple, they excel in user friendliness. Everything is like spoonfed. Some people like to customise their device and root it and do whatever the hell they want with it.
Others would rather get their device straight out of the box and just have everything work. Apple does a brilliant job in getting all their iDevices to just work. Seamlessly.
That's why even on the bus I see old people (like really old people) all with iPads and iPhones. But I really can't imagine the same people running custom Android roms or what not. XD
Anyways, the different devices will appeal to different people.
Good on you for giving Android a shot.
The All Around Dictionary would be great. Yes as you mentioned there are alternatives of all that you mentioned but not pre-configured if that is how iOS is deployed.
I agree with last 2 posters. I own a mac and love it. Ive owned tablets from both camps and the ipad wins hoands down.
But when it comes to phones im android all the way. Thats because i brougt into tue ecosystem supporting it.
Just like the op has and fair play you gave it ago. Im the first at work to bash apple users with compare the note test putting them to shame. But while we bash they have the upperhand their apps and tgat must be hard to break from.
One colleague just layered a multitrack song using midi in mics and a small bit of software all run on the iphone 4s. To say i couldnt win that one would be an understatement lol
So if you prefer ios then as mentioned sell your note now while its worth more.

either you are a troll or you don't have a damn idea of what android is... In fact I doubt you have a note... you can do everything you are saying here and more with any android device...
4 inch screen on new iphone? not enough my note is 5.3 and waiting for the 5.5 on note 2, itrash its just plain boring and limitated os(for limitated no used to technology like my grandma) people... I own a galaxy Nexus 4.67 inches and I can't watch its screen.. nor hold it in my hand.. to damn small so this thing about switching between iPod and note its bs.. Actually I remember reading that the iPhone 5 would have 3.999" screen..So its not "at least 4" big".. Something to do with the aspect ratio..

Haha how did I know it would deteriorate into name calling? Oh right. Android loons can't take criticism. And definitely can't stomach any sort of fruit. You know jelly beans and ice cream sandwiches are nice treats, but not entirely healthy if eaten beyond moderation. Not good for scurvy either.
@OP. Sell the Note. It can fetch a decent price. Go buy an iPad2. You can get a refurb one straight from apple for only $319. I have a refurb one. Or if you really want the higher resolution "new" iPad, you can use the money plus a bit more to get it. The resolution gain wasn't worth it for me. They are identical otherwise. You are treating your note like a tablet anyway, leaving it at home and using it around the house, so might as well buy a real one. Don't get an Android tablet. If you already own a tablet, send your note to me.

Thank you guys for the reply especially msedek for that extremely pointless and useless comment that was so unconstructive. Pretty sure you are the troll here, unlike you I do own both an iPod and GNote and since like you said in your words 'you can do everything you are saying here and more with any android device...' how about you list the ways I can get what ever I like on iOS onto android. Pretty sure your not gonna reply so I'll just say it.... T R O L L . . .
Also thanks to THUDUK for the gay remark, you have fulfilled you part in the XDA forums, go celebrate!
As for the rest of guys, thanks for the replies (I really mean it and not sacarstic unlike to the other 2 morons I quoted). The think is I don't wanna sell my note because I still want to part own an Android but just use it as my main device. I also am still making payments for it, I bought it on a 2 year contract so don't wanna sell it while still paying for a device I can't use if I sold. I don't intend to use it as a tablet as I do own a iPad already, but since I got no intentions at all to sell my note I want to make use of it even after the phone switch.
At this point I don't know what size screen the next iPhone has but what ever size it is I will still be getting one because my iPod is close to fried, yesterday lock button stop working. So I literally need an iOS device (cas its my drug) and instead of just spending money on next gen iPod which becomes almost useless without wifi I want to get the iPhone just to keep it all in one. I actually was thinking and the note is pretty slim actually so I do intend to put a few TV shows and movies and take it with me for long journeys or trips and its big screen and 8 megapixels can come in great use to take pictures unless the next Gen iPhone has a 12 megapix then proabaly use that to take pics but anyways the device is pretty slim and not that much heavy for me to use it as a video player on the go. So I save battery on my phone watching videos on the note and I can do texts and calls without having to pause the video etc.
I still want to use my note as much as I can even after I get the iPhone. Also I really respect the most of you here who replied for actually understanding the point of this thread and not be like 'some other people and make plain stupid and meaningless remarks'... and gay comments also. So I'm final thing is very unlikely to sell my note as I'm still making payments for it and also I can use it as a backup if I lose my iPhone or send it for fixing or simply run out of battery. Once again I thank you guys for the replies and keep them coming, I have tried extensively both iOS and ics and prefer iOS more but doesn't mean android isn't good, it just isn't for me.

Really difficult to say what size as there are also rumors that apple is testing the new device in a shell very similar to iPhone 4 design as they are aware there will be leaks and people online are saying the new iPhone will have a completely new design and not the slightly longer iPhone 4 shells we see in leaks. But once again those are just rumors, we got to wait and see. Though I feel like the iPad mini might happen to compete with android 7 inch tablets but the iPad mini are targeted for a different audience I think, we just got to wait and see.

Well Said.
I hate apple, but i have to agree that for some people it fit's better.
I can hate apple, but first i must respect others and their opinions. Get your new iphone, and be happy with both. As others said, Gnote still has a good selling value, that will drop once the Gnote2 comes out. But if you don't want to sell it, as a backup phone and media player is a good options. Iphone can be too small, but in the other hand ipad could be too big, so in that case, you will have your Gnote.
Also, with the codec's support on the note, and the size of the screen, it could be a nice media player, if phone network is not in use.

Wow I really really appreciate you suggesting different alternates to iOS features on Android but they are all additional steps that may not be practical. First for the contacts and calendar syncing with Google on Mac, pretty sure you need to have your Mac switched on but either ways I don't have one (yet). As for the photo stream it isn't in the default photo app, you need to go to drop box to retrieve the pictures and once again you need the add on of drop box.
Titanium back up features don't work on trail version (I think) and again an add on app. Also I have tried market enabler, it does change the country for the play store, and only the playstore. Still don't get the TV shows and movies and books options. Also one thing o hate about android (no offense), don't know if its the OS or the apps but its probably the apps but anyways in music when there are 2 albums with the same names even though they are by different artist they share the same cover art and when I click on one of the similar titled album the tracks from the other similar titled albums are together. I have tries all the popular music apps so far and finally settled with Google music despite this issue because of the streaming service (which is really a game changer with androids). So to be less confusing I have 2 albums titled unbroken, one by Demi Lovato and another by Kathrine Mcphee and when I click on Demi's album both songs from Kathrine and Demi's album appear together and same goes when I click on Kat's unbroken album I see demi's track on the list too. Another example is Liberty X's and Kylie Minogue's X album. Oh also books form iTunes store don't work on android as they are Drm protected.
Google Drive isn't the same as Pages, the basic function are similar but they are not the same. Also Drive doesnt do PP and Excel. Same thing about them being in sync, add on app or it doesn't work. What's app isn't the same as iMessage as it doesn't allow sending HD videos and it doesn't work on multiple devices. For iMessage if I set it up on both my iPod and iPad when I get a message both devices get it and I can setup multiple emails as IDs for people to send texts and finally what's app doesn't work on Macs.
1 iPhones do have long battery lives depending on usage
2 Safari does have desktop browser experience and also Android doest have flash support anymore similar to iPhones.
3 more than 4 words do fit on the screen and a lot more depending on size and length of words and screen orientation.
4 willing to trade in wide screen gaming for a phone that gets the games way faster than android (couple months faster) and a phone that doesn't heat up so fast and make it super uncomfortable to continue playing and app store with wider variety of games.
5 don't practice it
6 love my car too much to teleport
7 not involved in it
8 hate running
9 earth does that for me
10 take your time!
Finally, dont worry I'm not offended but once again thank you for the post to suggest alternatives but its just mostly add on apps that don't work the same unlike iOS which just works!
The all around dictionary part, maybe you didn't get it but with iOS you just select a word and select define and it has the meaning so you don't need to leave the app and go to another dictionary app and tap paste than wait for the translation depending on your network speed. Thanks so far for the suggestion people keep them coming!

Recently I had an experience with making a short video for My Wedding Anniversary gift and decided to do that on the One.
So I collected good pictures of me, my wife and kid dating back to 2006 and put them in a single folder on the One.
As expected, it created a short Zoe. However, pictures were about 30 and Zoe is only a highlight so doesnt capture all. So I tried the HTC Share option and it also ended up limiting my selection to 10 Pictures only
I tried finding alternatives on the Play Store and remembered Magisto. Tried that but when time came to select photo/video it listed the thumbnails from ALL my gallery folders in one single list (6000+) ... I could not find any option to list folder-wise.
(BTW - All this was happening at 12:30 AM!!)
Frustrated, I ended up picking my iPad and creating a movie quickly on iMovie ... took me 10 mins tops.
However, when I put that movie back on the One, it was an altogether different experience than when it was played on the iPad ... IT BLEW ME AWAY !!! The sound and video just popped out and looked way better on the One.
Ended up with conclusion that Google needs to come out with its native apps which rival the ones Apple has, to close the gap that we have between Content Creation and Consumption on Android.
(I AM AN EQUAL LOVER OF APPLE AND GOOGLE PRODUCTS. DO NOT DARE FLAME ME )
Google made an app called Movie Studio but form some unknown by me reason it just disappeared out of nowhere. That app can alter your videos and add effects, sounds, trip videos and even crop it. And you could also merge pictures and create a video out of it. Tried installing on my HTC One it was working with merging photos but importing videos doesn't work
Why didnt you just record a video with HTC One?
Interesting thoughts, and to a large extent mirrors my thoughts on Zoe as well. I've made three videos so far and they've all been really great, but the one frustrating thing is where the video decides to loop a clip or photo badly, and you haven't really got any way of tweaking it other than playing around with which pics are including and hoping for the best. Still happy overall but hope HTC decide to expand the features with future updates! Nothing wrong with mixing iOS and Android, either - I've got an iPad 3 and have been very happy with it!

Oh wow, I really didn't read it properly, sorry.
So far I do like this tablet. Its speed and some of the new features in jellybean are pretty neat like enhancing the size of small radio boxes so you can press them on the small screen. I also like the improved keyboard, as my last android experience was on a droid x.
I literally put my WiFi iPad 2 up for sale on ebay today but I think maybe I might have jumped the gun.
Reason being is that I had no idea there were screen issues with some of the Nexus 7 until I came to the form today. I don't seem to have these issues but it makes me uneasy.
Now granted, I came from iOS devices and still have an iPhone so I have been trying very hard to get my calendar and contacts synced up. I've been trying to use Smoothsync for contacts and it is not been going well. The app constantly crashes and I'm finding myself having to go nerdwank with settings and workarounds all over again in 2013 just to get basic syncing happening.
Before you clown me or defend the N7 I do realize that trying to use apple specific syncing with android is not the most ideal Solution so I expected some Issues.
Then I find that without fail the OEM "mail" app is crashing when I try to reply to messages. Text editing is god awful on this thing and this message took 45 minutes with the blue editing markers jumping below the page and doing odd ****. Part of this can be forgiven duento the screen size and inherent limitations and I realize this.
I didn't intend to make this a rant but I must say that android is still not ready for prime time.
I really wanted this to be a great tablet but I think in the end the software is still half baked and I find myself once again being a Google beta tester. Let the hate begin I guess.
Are you sure the apps are optimized for 4.3? Have you talked to the developer or searched around for a solution to the crashes/problems?
I wanted to clown you, but sometimes I find clowns to be sorta funny. Mimes on the other hand. Never. Not once. No Funny. So I will mime you instead.
Worst first post? I don't think you'll win. There was this guy once that posted and stuff was just and then click and wow blue! Everywhere. ADB.
you say android isn't prime yet... well you're quite wrong. There are literally millions of devices running android, and out of those, only few have reported issues, which are once in a blue moon. These devices are often out of the league. Like this new nexus, or HTC One, or Nexus 10. These devices have extraordinarily large display sizes, and yes, android probably isn't ready for these resolutions. Think of the iOS coming out 11 yrs ago, and so much of suing to get their stuff perfected and totally unparalleled. Now think of android, coming out just five years ago, and suffering much of the suing bussiness, and outclassing every other platform there. In just 5 years, we have these extraordinary devices, that probably still sound like magic to me, though I admit reading the fantasy literature toomuch, but still, you can well imagine the limits android has crossed.
gotta disagree about not being prime time. I enjoy android much more than apple on every level from hardware to os. save one tiny, very annoying thing and I give you props for bringing it up on a non stylus tablet you are quite right. text editing does indeed suck. omg I just sided with an apple lover, I feel so...dirty.
na when your right your right, the blue cursor of doom is annoying at times. but from there well I gotta say android rules
i'll take it easy on you since i use to like apple myself. But android is better than apple and will take some time getting use to. the more you use it you will like it a lot more than ios. the only feature i like about apple is using itunes with putting music on your device but i dont need that so much now since im always using tune in radio. now as for typing and using the keyboard you can always try different keyboard apps from the playstore. im personally using swiftkey tablet edition and like it the most. for syncing your information there are more than one app that will let you do that so try other ones.
45 minutes ? I am slow also. But 45 minutes????
Haven't you heard of swype record made by a woman two years back. He I think he wrote that much in 45 seconds. And, was accurate.
I am not using swype particularly currently, but on my lowest end lg optimus two years back, I could write very fast. And that was on 2.2.
I have to state that upon reading that it took you 45 minutes to write a few sentences, well i have to take your criticisms with a grain of salt. 45 minutes? come on. I don't think that's a problem with android. I still use my htc desire with 2.2 (if 4.3 isn't ready for prime then heavens knows what 2.2 would be described as) and it wouldn't have taken me 10 minutes to write that.

I like my Ipad ? not
but there are many great features like live wallpaper or widgets ? not
the OEM keyboard sucks but you can change it for another one on the Apple Store right ? no ??
I want iTunes to copy and sync everything i have on my android phone on my iPad, is it possible ?? WHAT ?? NO ??
OK damnit, I just want the %$?& OEM video player to play a basic DivX video... is it possible ?? OMG
ok it is time for a big conclusion :
I didn't intend to make this a rant but I must say that iOS is still not ready for prime time.
Why are you trying to use some 3rd party contact hack? Ipad, sync it to google with your contacts. Nexus, sync it to google for your contacts. Tada, contacts are sync'd up between them. ( same with your calendar ).
45 minutes? Perhaps apple is for you then. ( Really? 45 minutes? I am pretty sure my dog can do better... )
Troll.......
The OP is better off with iOS.

There are things you don't say in a fan forum. The above is one of those. It's flame bait, and it renders everything else you've said into noise, because this is the only thing people will respond to.
>Text editing is god awful on this thing
Of course it is. You're comparing a 7" to a 9.7" which has over twice the surface area. For fiddly things like editing, larger (display) is better, especially if you have large hands. 7" is better for certain uses, and 10" is better for others.
Another issue is that Android isn't iOS, and has different routines for tasks. Some people get frustrated when switching to a different platform, because all of the routines they're familiar with are now useless, and have to be relearned.
Re: Syncing and other issues - As above, it's part of the learning curve when switching platform--finding new tools and ways to do things. It's more productive to dispense with the rant and flamebait, and just simply ask for help.
Kinda harsh for a new Android user.
Anyway the best option is to sync your Apple stuff with Google first. You can use a PC to access Gmail and make edits there. Once your Calendar and Contacts are satisfactory, then sync with Android (or it should automatically).
I've had no problems with the mail app. So I'm not sure what you are talking about. You also mention text messaging...? Gmail is for Gmail.
Email is for Corporate Exchange or Alt Emails. You can also setup Gmail in here but the Gmail app is better geared to take advantage of the Google Mail slew of features.
I'm not sure why its taking you 45 min to write an email. I've typed all this out in less then 4. If your keyboard is pressing all sorts of crazy letters and symbols then you may have a whacky touchscreen. Its not common but some have reported touch issues.
The move from iOS to Android is a learning curve because there are more options and freedom. Once you grasp the concepts of a few things and get familiar with the layout, you'll appreciate it more. You'll soon find iOS frustrating.

This ^
I think I get the problem with typing. I find sometimes if I'm typing onto a website in chrome its almost impossible to move the cursor to another bit of text. It takes on a life of its own jumping about or refusing to move.
No problems though other than within chrome on some sites.

Why bother registering and making a post just to be hated? Are you a masochist by any chance?
You are right, Android needs 3+ years to stagnate and do minimal incremental updates with zero innovation in order to be stable.
Wow, he comes to XDA and makes one post, this post. Can somebody please close this thread. I feel dumber for having read what that guy had to say. What a waste of time.
Cool since your the jury let me know if I can enjoy my tablet. Seriously do we need literally useless posts from ishills in here.
Go back to your phone made in a Nazi death camp shill, bet you didn't even root
edit I just reread your peasant like review, you used software to manually sync contacts, yeah you need to stick with icrap shill.. you don't deserve the #HOLO

Definitely user error.
Import your contacts into Gmail. Login with your phone. Sync. Take a 4 minute nap. Done.

Hey everyone. I've been using Glass for a few weeks now. It's a new type of device with an amazing amount of potential. Unfortunately, some aspects of it are a frustrating mess.
I created a concept video, and "redesigned" major aspects of the interface which can enable Glass to become "consumer-friendly." These changes have the potential to greatly increase usability across all users, including the handicapped, imo.
End notes:
Some people will still prefer the current timeline system :smileyhappy: and that's cool!
For me, this not just about sharing-it's about quickly finding stuff which Google is known for...
I'm in NYC, finding a music track in the subway is a PAIN with the current interface. I have to scroll the entire timeline. The songs are stored locally once you play them, but "listen to" is deactivated with no data signal. If the interface was built something like this, I'd just navigate by touch or voice to music, select an album/offline songs, and play them :smileyhappy:
Thanks
Looks pretty cool
Not sure if I like it to display heaps and heaps on one tiny screen though

Thanks Brendo. That is definitely a valid concern! 6 thumbnails per page is pushing it, I got a bit carried away.
I tested 4 using a mock image displayed on my glass unit, and it was super readable and a lot less cluttered
Cheers.

I'm all for fitting as much as I can on a single screen. I know that I (and i'm sure others) at times struggle with writing that is too small
Nice work regardless
Great video and ideas.
Why don't we let the user choose: 1) Timeline view or 2) Tile view (2, 4 or 6)?
Nice!
Have you actually implemented these changes? If so do you have a code-base somewhere that someone could download and try?
Whats the Music Track you used on the video demo.? Its got a great beat!
great idea

Yupp that was my only criticism also (6 thumbs is too many) but other than that great concept!
