Not all models support fast dormancy.
How do you know if your phone has fast dormancy feature?

http://youtu.be/O8L50sCY7CI
An old video, but still relevant.
Sent from my SM-N910F

I found on some web information that samsung could remove fast dormancy in kitkat fw. This could be reason why there is no fast dormancy option in sys dump. Can someone confirm please?

Backup all your data before flashing this ROM
This ROM has to be flashed either with latest CWM or latest TWRP
Many thanks to the maker of the thread that inspired me:

How to flash
First you have to be rooted
If your device is not rooted I recommend you to take a look here: [GT-I9505] CF-Auto-Root
Flash the recovery of your choice
Touch CWM, Normal CWM or TWRP use SGS4 Flasher to flash the one you prefer, it's very easy.
Download the ROM and the recommended Gapps. Put everything in your SD card
Reboot into recovery
Wipe data*, wipe cache and dalvik cache
*If you're coming from another ROM, even PACman 4.2.2
Install zips from SD card
Enjoy the ROM
FAQs
Q. Don't have bootanimation, why?
A. Because you didn't use CWM or TWRP.
Q. My baseband version it's unknown, why?
A. Read the first answer.
How do I make the status bar transparent?
A. In your homescreen, open quick settings panel and choose Hybrid Properties (the one with the name of the launcher on it, there, slide to the right and set the status bar color to transparent.
Can I use a custom kernel with this ROM?
A. Yes, you can. Just make sure that the kernel is for AOSP.
This ROM bricked my phone
A. No, you did it. Because you were too stubborn to read.
Ask for help instead of blaming.
I have two issues -
Google Now/Google Voice Search seems to trigger quite often and I don't know why. Surely it should only trigger when I press the home button?
When I swipe in a ribbon from the right, two ribbons appear. One I can scroll, I see the other behind it, not moving, which then falls away (I have 3 second fade away)
Any ideas on either of these? Thanks.

About the Google Now activation, in AOSP it activates with the menu button, maybe that's why you don't feel when it presses, I was having sort of the same issue but I assigned new custom actions.
With the ribbons, I really don't use them.

Yeah, I see I can hold menu down to launch voice search. It's definitely not that.
At one point yesterday I double taped my screen to open my app drawer and two seconds after the drawer opened, Google voice searching opened!?
I've even been looking to see if there's voice /sound activation of something... It's really annoying.

Actually, here's a related question that someone might be able to help with.
I use the home button to wake my phone, but half the time it wakes AND does the home button action. If in cycling, it wakes and drops to the home screen instead of Strava. If in at the gym, it closes Jefit. If i was on the home screen, it asks and launched voice search!
Any ideas?

I think some app is messing with the home button actions.
Have yo set any app as a device administrator?
Also, wich build are you running?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4
Yeah, I think it was Nova messing with my home button. I turned off home = Voice search and it seems okay now.

Some guys stated in the main thread that fast dormancy only worked with Samsung's TouchWiz.
By the way, why is useful to turn off Fast Dormancy?

Fast Dormancy will save battery life if your carrier supports it. I won't go into the details. However, if your carrier does not support it, and your phone has fast dormancy on, it will drain the battery as the process keeps trying to look for the carrier-side fast dormancy feature.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
I guess it might be back to the touchwiz bs...

You can always try different apps, like Greenify or Better Battery Stats, also, KT kernel is very battery friendly but I prefer the stock kernel with that apps and the battery is always good.

Seems good to me. The only two things pushing me back to a Samsung based ROM are the battery life and I find the camera unreliable. (Often opens but with a blank black screen)

You can try with KT kernel, it improves the battery life considerably, reduces the heat but you may lose some smoothness compare to the stock kernel.
The camera seems an unresolved issue at the moment, but all the cons that the ROM currently have, for me, are very depreciable against the features.

ok, i reflashed the rom without wipe and gallery is back to normal, also videos. ill try to flash KT kernel 08/28 version, and see if it will bring back the problem.

In only use KT because of the battery life, that was very poor with the latest build, but if you're experiencing a decent battery life my suggestion is to be in the stock kernel.

ow ok, can i use ausdim kernel?
EDIT: what settings on KT are you using?
what happened to the nice power widgets in notification centre on the 06/09 rc build?
it looks hideous now

No, you can't use that kernel because it's not labeled for AOSP ROMs, you have to be careful when you flash kernels because them can really brick your device.

[Q] Popups GPS & Offline

Hello,
i have two questions, may some of you knows an answer ...(Phone G900F/root/Omega v3.0)
Both are about the popups that will be shown using the fast Buttons, like 'Wifi'/"Bluetooth"/"GPS"/"Offline" etc.
(hope my low level english will be excused)
If i use the button for "GPS" always the 'Google'-question appears ... does not matter if i have chosen just only GPS or locating with WiFi.
Does someone know how to turn off that confirmation question?
The other interaction that i really do not like is ... turning on the offline mode ... turning off the offline mode ...,
i always have to confirm that i really want that ... does someone know any solution to turn that questions off?
thank you very much for reading
thank you very much for answering if you knew a solution
best regards
The confirmation popup is rather annoying actually.
If you leave your location settings on high accuracy, it drains battery. If you leave it to power saver, GPS chip is disabled. If you turn it off, Google Now doesn't work. Seriously, which potato farmer programmed this?
I consider this to be one of the worst changes implemented. Previous Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 had an actual "GPS" toggle in the drop down menu instead of this poorly crafted "location" toggle.
Sometimes I slightly regret switching from Note 3 to S5. Just a slight bit.
Oh well, the G3 is on the horizon

Use xposed framework plus the Modul disable Google network location consent. For the second thing maybe Wanam xposed module got an option for it.

Well, Hi!
I agree to your first statement even if i can follow the idea behind the programming, if i take the position of 'go.ogle' but even the main idea for the user is not that bad, it would have been a great choice to let the user chose which combination they want, like a single GPS-toggle. Or the combination. I was just lucky with that GPS-toggle option on my S3.
Like it is, it is a worst change. Agreed!
Some guys should get in contact with ROM cooking experts if there could be some coding solution.
Until yet i can't post in the developer section. So i have to stay calm.
Thank you for your point of view, so knowing i am not alone ...

Power Saving mode + Haptic Feedback

This may seem like a stupid question, but but I want to use Power Saving mode, but keep haptic feedback enabled, but restrict the cpu performance. (I know I'll get questions about why I'd want to do this. Simply put, I want to save battery power).
Alternatively, is there an app that will do the same thing as this option under Power Saving?
Edit: I have the ATT Note 4, so I can't root. I'm waiting anxiously though. I need to fix Kitkat's stupid external SD card write security. It's driving me NUTS!

Notification when I press Power Button

Hello ...
I have the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) with Android 6.0.1 from Saturday (NOT rooted ... yet). After a lot of hours searching and setup I have this "problem":
When I press the PowerButton for 2-3 seconds to show the options: Reboot/ShutDown/SafeMode it sounds the Messages notification !! How can I disable this?
Thanks in advance.
I still cannot disable it (without reset the phone)
I wonder if this notification is by default ....???
Thanks

Dunno if you can remove it without root, but you can do it with root. You find system sounds at /system/media/audio/ui. There you should find the sound file regarding power menu, then delete it and reboot and that's it.
@zavag
I try to turn it on to reproduce your problem but In my case, I can not even find out how I can turn it on.
Can you tell me...
How you activated it?
On which build are you?
@Henkate
I think it would be rather embarrassing for Samsung if you can not even personalize a notification tone without major changes to the system.
By the way, even if I do not actually think of TouchWiz. For me it's just ugly and overbloat!
I really don't know how it activated. The phone is new and ... you know ... I was searching a lot of settings in order to setup as I like. I googled it ... I found some infos but it didn't work.
On the other hand I don't want to reset (and most I don't want to root it from now) because I spent a lot of hours to set it up.

Know what you mean! I think if there is really no other way you are at minimum able to backup your settings in almost any app.
Maybe you like to inform about adb based backup solutions like declared here:
https://www.droidwiki.de/wiki/Backup/Ohne_Root
I also found a tool called Ultimate Backup on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844032
If you don't have access to a Linux or at least Windoof computer you can maybe search for how to use adb through androids buit in Linux command shell. Don't know if there is a workaround.
But in my opinion it is already poor from Samsung if one must operate such an effort in order to turn off a notification!

If Viper is activated, you will see the notification by default unless you disabled it. It really depends on the version of Viper and which Rom you are using. Basically, In Viper go to settings and check "Show Notification" > On
In the OS system menu go to search, type notifications.

When you have issues, and need some help it's usually a good idea to provide more information such as your phone model, which Rom are you using, what mods are installed etc. For example, the instructions for the stock rom is quite different than a custom Rom.
Also, if you are using a custom Rom, it is better to ask the question within that Roms forum. As you can see by the number of days that have passed since you first asked the question, you will not get alot of help by making a post with little to no information. There is just a few people who regularly check these Questions.
If you are using custom rom, and everything is activated. Then you very likely have installed some type of utility/cleaning/battery saving tool that is blocking the notification.
If you are using EUI, then the program called: Phone manager is the app that is blocking the notification.

Its absolutely the built-in phone manager. I cant provide the link at the moment, because I am busy. But, if you Google search " resolving LeEco EUI notification issues"
You should quickly be able to find the step by step resolution. A lot of people experienced that same issue with various programs.
If you can't find it, I can post the link later tonight.
