Been noticing that the that T-Mobile Stock ROM is Better Than AT&T Stock ROM, no doubt
The T-Mobile Stock ROM is feature-rich, includes all Samsung amenities whereas the AT&T Stock ROM is crippled.
Tmobile will always be better than at&t
BAD ASS NOTE 4
When John Legere took over, he made a concerted effort to make T-Mobile USA simple. One of the side effects of that was cutting back on customisations of OSs (e.g., less bloatware, less feature removal, etc.). This has made T-Mobile USA Android ROMs some of the cleanest carrier ROMs available.

After having sold my ATT Note 4 because of the POS locked bootloader I bought a Tmobile one and just got it yesterday. Out of the box the Tmobile one is faster overall, I'm assuming due to less bloatware. I'm pretty impressed so far. Now if I could just get my data to work, calling ATT later to make sure it's provisioned for LTE.

Of course att will be different but you may want to double check that.

Dont give them your tmobile IMEI, their system will automatically detect a non AT&T phone and lock you out of LTE. Find another at&T IMEI of an LTE phone and provide them

They don't care anymore. Several posters have had no issues at all, and I also had no issue. They didn't bat an eye and I told them right away it was a tmobile phone. Took about 5 minutes for them to set me up. I get LTE perfectly.
I gave away as a Christmas present the AT&T crapware loaded Note 4 that I bought retail price.
Bought the TMobile version, paid $30 for the unock code and did the region unlock. All before putting in my AT&T SIM card.
When I booted Note 4 with SIM card, it immediately set up itself to the proper NET setting and LTE worked no problems.
Awesome firmware after I used a ROOT uninstaller to get rid of TMobile Apps, Carrier IQ, and some Samsung Apps that I'll never use.

Then I used RegionLockAway to remove the region lock.

Thanks for your reply, What is "apn"?
How to change "apn"?

I just gotten off the phone with a Straight Talk rep and she said that there sim cards wouldnt work in verizons phones.....and she also said that T-Mobile wouldnt work. I also went to ST web page and checked to see if my phone was compatable by looking at a list of devices on the b.y.o.b my SM-N900V wasnt on the list however it gave me the option of entering my MEID # and it said it was compatable. Just a little confused....does it work or not.

I don't have experience with ST but with band 4 enabled I was able to put a buddy's T mobile sim card in and get voice and LTE data after configuring T mobiles APN.

So, with a new straight talk at&t sim card in a verizon galaxy note 3, why would I be getting a "non-verizon sim card" error and no service?

What's so funny? Am I missing something? As I understand it, all verizon note 3's are unlocked... here's what I'm basing this off of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480320
wanted to know this too!!
before i left for vacation (here in the PHILIPPINES) i tried using a T-MOBILE simcard on my NOTE3. it worked perfectly OK. thought its unlocked for any GSM network.
when i got here (PHILIPPINES), immediately put in a local simcard and it says "NON-VERIZON SIM" and cant get any signal.
tried all three major phone networks simcards and they all dont work.
can anybody please let us know what is the workaround to this issue?
any help is greatly appreciated!!! c",)

Ah, fair enough. The intention wasn't to do this - the verizon note 3 is from ebay and came factory unlocked. I was planning to use it on verizon till I learned their $60/$70 prepaid plans don't support 4G devices
So, found straight talk, checked this phone's IMEI in their system and it said it'd work... but it's not. There's a lot of confusion out there.. people in this thread saying it "just works" on tmobile and at&t, some saying that it "just works" on straight talk (even mentioning that they're using the at&t compatible sim), but so far, no luck for me.
Here are the confusing points:
1) The verizon note 3 comes factory unlocked. If this is true, why do links like the one you just sent me even exist?
2) The straight talk bring your own device kit from walmart ($60, includes one month of $45 unlimited everything) comes with 5 separate activation options:
- AT&T-compatible full-sized sim
- AT&T-compatible micro sim
- Tmobile-compatible full-sized sim
- Tmobile-compatible micro sim
- CDMA scratch-off network access number
The AT&T ones say "4G LTE available", T-mobile ones say "4G HSPA+ Available", and the CDMA one doesn't mention anything about 3 or 4g, so naturally I thought I should try the AT&T one first. I activated this sim card on straight talk, ported my number, once that was complete I put it in the note 3 and booted up - and I have no service, "emergency calls only", and "non-verizon sim". Just to be certain the phone is unlocked, I tried a completely different, genuine t-mobile sim in the same phone and it worked fine.. it still says "non-verizon sim" but I have service and can make calls.
Really hoping someone can shed some light on what might be happening here.

Aha, thankfully my problem was a simple one - I called straight talk and had them check the status of the sim card I was trying to use (the micro at&t compatible one) - turns out, it still wasn't activated. SO - they activated it right then and there and everything started working immediately on the phone, too - started right up with the same 4G service my tmobile phone gets in our neighborhood.
SO - in case any one else stumbles upon this, YES, you can use a VERIZON galaxy note 3 with the straight talk AT&T-compatible sim card with the factory stock verizon ROM and no further unlocking. What a crazy world we live in
I have a Verizon note 3 running on T-Mobile. I bought a prepaid plan starter kit at Walmart. It came with the sim and the first month service for $42. Any T-Mobile sim will work. All I did was pull my Verizon sim out and replace it with the T-Mobile sim. Changed the apn settings and it works great! I had to root and other stuff to enable band 4, but you won't have to. The latest update enabled it.

I work several blocks from downtown Pittsburgh and I live 15 miles outside of Pittsburgh. Both places I get ~80dBm and 100dBm signal with 20mb - 35mb down, and 10 to 20 up. I'm only on hspa occasionally, but speeds are fast. Their edge network is painful. I'm not on it often in the area but when I am I get ~.15mb - .20mb downloads. I would try to find someone in your area that has T-mobile and see what kind of service they get before switching.

Ok. I have a galaxy s4 on AT&T prepaid and pay 50 per month for unlimited with working hot spot. All good but wanted to get a Note 3. Is it possible to get a Note 3 to work like my s4??
Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. I just need to know which note 3 to buy and if it will work. I will keep reading and searching but wanted a little direction.
Thanks for any help

Straight Talk Verizon Note 3 activation
I have a VZW Note 3, after contacting Straight Talk's *(microchasm) support I am told by a human that the IMEI# of the phone is not compatable with their "bring your own phone" system. I have the micro sim card in the phone, I think I just need them to turn it on... Sorry if I am over simplifying things, at this point I am completely irate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The previous arrangement with VZW was a concession line that was canceled.
I want to purchase a Sprint GS 7 and sim unlock to use on GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
What is the process official and other options for sim unlock.
Never had Sprint service before, thanks for your assistance.
First step is to not stick a sprint sim card in the phone. I played around with mine without a sim card and to get the stupid vr game promo i stuck the card in and next thing it did was install all the carrier garbage bloatware automatically and it changes the boot screen and to my understanding it sim locks to the carrier that the sim card uses. Complete bullsh!t I am irate and stuck with all of this garbage bloat courtesy of sprint and the locked bootloader thanks to samsung. Im returning mine
I bought my sprint s7 full price through best buy.
First thing I did was swap the sprint Sim with my AT&T Sim (testing first Sim inserted). Prompted with invalid Sim error.
Appears the sprint phones come with activation software pre-installed that locks it to their network. You need them to unlock it from their end, no unlock codes.
When I put the sprint Sim back in, it didn't install all the bloat. It installs everything if you activate the phone; unactivated Sim, no account.
According to sprint, the phone needs to be activated on the network for 50 days and paid in full to be unlocked. They unlocked mine without meeting those standard because of poor support from a rep before I bought it.
After you get it unlocked, you can just insert any sim (gsm/cdma) after?
I don't see any settings to change the network mode.
I'd like to know the same. I'm traveling over seas in less than two week and would like to use while over seas with the local carrier. Not so much concerned with using it with other carriers domestically though.
I'm also curious if the phone can be used for data on other carries once unlocked. I wonder because with my current Sprint GS5, Sprint unlocked it, but it does not work with data when over seas. Come to find out after a lot of research, there is no solution and everybody with unlocked Sprint GS5s also cannot get data to work without wifi.
OP, you may want to keep that in mind and do your research. If Sprint's GS7 is like their GS5, you will not be able to get data on the phone with other carriers even if unlocked, unless connected to wifi.
Yes, any Sim CDMA or GSM will work. And data works perfectly for me. The s7 is the same device for every carrier where the only thing that changes is the software.
Here's a screenshot of my sprint phone on cricket with data.

I went to UK in 2013, had my S4 with me and was able to get data. I was not, however, able to get fast LTE speeds. Sprint cripples their LTE bands on purpose for some reason so that they become less useful on many international carriers.

The main difference between models on each carrier are bloatware they add and LTE bands they add and delete. Sprint always gets rid of useful LTE bands like LTE 7 which is a popular worldwide band.

Correct. Cricket is owned by AT&T, a carrier who did not get rid of band 7, despite the fact that they use Sprint's 3G network as well as CDMA. Do you have bands 25 and 26 as well? If so, that would be great!

I don't actually. Knowing this I'm going to focus on attempting to add these bands (toggle them). Trying to get a hold of Sprint currently to get my MSL code.
The Galaxy S7 is DUC meaning it can be unlocked for domestic use, and it will automatically unlock tru a programming update sent OTA after the device has been active on the account(in good standing) for more than 50 days.

##3282#
Just bought a sprint s7 yesterday since it was cheaper for me and had it unlock from an ebay listing for about $15. It was quick like 2 minutes and easy. Its done remotely on the person's end with your phone connected to computer. I'm using it on Tmobile and is working great. I get lte speeds and call quailty is great. Getting to the service menu above ##3282# you can edit the band priorities so you can have the wanted bands 1st, 2nd, and so forth. Just need the MSL# which they can get you.
If this is against the rules sorry, but just thought I give my experience with unlocking the sprint s7.
I'm trying to find detailed specs without luck, can someone please clarify which LTE bands the Sprint variant of the S7 has?
Please list all that are physically on the radio, and specify if they are actually available for use or blocked.

You need an AT&T sim it doesn't have to be activated. Im using mine on cricket and got my latest OTA by putting my deactivated AT&T sim and using my wifi to download. I did have to check twice and reboot once to trigger the update. If you change the time in settings up a day you don't have to wait 24hrs to recheck for update.

I have a very interesting question regarding on using tee AT&T variant of this phone on the T-Mobile network. As you may have noticed, AT&T is finally offering Wi-Fi Calling on their network, and this phone is compatible. My question is:
Does the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling work on the AT&T variant of this phone?
Does the AT&T Wi-Fi calling work on the T-Mobile variant of this phone?
If you flash the U firmware, you'll get wifi calling, VoLTE, and OTA updates. There is a thread in one of the other AT&T forums that has instructions.

Yeah you do, its under Connections/Mobile Networks/Mobile Data its called Enhanced LTE services....I actually shut mine off and its saving quite a bit of battery it seems and I havent even noticed a difference in phone call quality, seems kind of useless
you need to get or buy a Gophone simcard or buy a gophone (comes with Gophone simcard), just activate the gophone simcard, you dont need to pay money on it. i never able to get att software update using Cricket simcard but when i put a activated gophone simcard (no need to pay money on it), it lets me update to the latest att firmware ! funny, how gophone and cricket are owned by parent company att but gophone lets me update and cricket can NOT.
I'm curious if our S8's are sim unlocked. I have the Verizon S8, I put my T-Mobile sim card in and had no problems. Calls, Text and data are all working perfect. The only change I made was from LTE/CDMA to LTE/GSM

What's the T-Mobile unlocking app say? I've never seen or used it but I heard they unlock it if and when you qualify.

There's an app in the Google Play Store that will unlock your T-mobile phone from the T-Mobile unlock app. I used it for my S7 Edge. Paid $28 & in an hr I was permanent unlocked. The app is IMEI Unlocker
On the original Jump 1.0 on a business account and have been able to SIM unlock all my phones on payment plans the min I left the store. Have had every Galaxy release except for the Note 7 and they all were SIM unlockable. My S7 Edge didn't SIM Unlock on day 1 though. Waited a day or two and was able to SIM Unlock it, just randomly tried it. My S8 I have not been able to SIM unlock it yet, but this is the first time I pre-ordered online and haven't sent in my S7 Edge back yet.

Does it mean that there's no activation at all? Should it work out of the box?
I've went to Verizon store and they told me that I must use 3 months of prepaid in order to "activate" it properly.
Anyone noticed that the essay on verizon is a SM-G950U....and not a SM-G950V Like all previous models ....
U is the unlocked US version

All the versions (T-mobile, AT&T or Verizon) are SM-G950U, you can see this on Samsung Page, the only differences are the latest letter where they change for each version. Because of this there were people guessing that it was exactly the same phone with different software, which you should be able to change as you decide wit any other company software and activate all the bands. Like I mentioned only a gossip base on the model SM-G950U

I bought the Verizon version, because of the unlock, to be use in my country Mexico and I can confirm that you dont those 3 months to activate and be able t use your phone. As soon as I received it I inserted my sim card and the only thing i noticed was the cell phone showing a message that phone wouldnt be usable until properly activated, I ignored it and continue and my sim worked normally i was able to make phone calls, use LTE data..... something to consider is that when i reboot the cell phone i dont get this msg anymore but just a notification over my notification bar from the verizon config wizard saying that my sim is not from verizon but as soon as i close it it doesnt came back until you reboot again. The only complain is that i just found out that I cannot update the firmware through OTA because it seems to try to use the verizon servers and are not able to validate my phone because it was never activated on Verizon. So i guess i have to wait for the firmwares or updates to be available on Samsung and install them using ODIN.

I used the same but it asked me to pay $55, I don't know how you got it for just $28. Maybe they increased price

Do you have any updates with your order. imei-unlocker.com had to cancel my order because there were delays and no ETA at the moment. I wonder if unlockriver are successfully doing it.
Did I make a mistake getting the "UNLOCKED" version from samsung.com? I use AT&T and
I use ATT and verizon.. and i noticed when the phone restart it doesnt add the bootloader for either carriers which also noticed no wifi calling .. and voice over data with ATT is trash for some reason .. when i hung up the phone my data just goes completely away then comes back as "LTE+" ,,, this is sad.. my last year S9+ when i put ANY sim card in it, it restarts the phone and loads the correct "bootloader" for the correct carrier with all features such as wifi calling/voice over data. etc etc... thats my first ordering a true unlocked samsung phone from the mother company. am i doing something wrong where i missed something in the setting? i looked also for OEM option under developer options, its not there .
some advice would be greatly appreciated .. yes i dont mind the extra carrier stuff when i put sim for verizon or att .
i got the S10+ 1TB version.

The BYOD firmware isn't available for the S10 yet but when it is I'm pretty sure you will have to flash the carrier U firmware to take advantage of that when it's available. For now I think you have to flash each carrier separately to get their features because a simple sim swap dosen't do it. The U1 firmware witch the unlocked version from Samsung has shouldn't get the carrier bloat otherwise that would make it just like the carriers versions witch would defeat the purpose of purchasing the unlocked from Samsung. I have two unlocked Note8's from Samsung here and they don't have any carrier bloat like the Verizon U versions and what not.
I had the unlocked Samsung S8+ directly from Samsung and my only complaint was all the carriers would receive the updates before I did.

anyone got a direct link where i can be guided how to install a ATT firmware then? that'll be better for me i believe
I got an unlocked version of the s10 plus and thought I made the mistake also. I seem to be getting everything my tmobile s8 plus did like wifi calling and hotspot. I believe I can even surface the web while on the phone like I could do before switching. The unlocked version just doesnt have the boot splash screen that I hated. I think I will try and buy unlocked from now on

You should be able to return your phone for a carrier through Samsung or sell it. Someone would rather have an unlocked version compared to a carrier version. One just sold on Ebay today for 1,000. Hell I was thinking about selling mine and getting another one from Samsung

Tmobile carried simultaneous voice+data forever. It's standard for GSM networks with 3G or greater. Even the 1st android phone could do it. So you must've used Sprint before, where they gained that feature recently.
Unlocked models receive OS updates last, but seem to get consistent security patches.
