[Q] Update bootloader / modem not working - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm currently running Temasek's CM12 by Kornfed, great rom, but I wanted to update my bootloader and modem to the latest version BNL7, as I'm currently still on ANG2.
I can't however seem to flash the damn thing, tried Odin and says the flash is ok, but i'm still on my old bootloader and modem. With Mobile Odin i get an error "Memory Protection In Place" so i guess i'm missing something.
Any1 else having or had this problem?

g900m
Im having somethimg similar to that. Im using mobileodin 4.20 and cant update modem. Everything is in new update except modem have just tries it 3 times and still on old modem.. but mine doesnt show anything about errors

I have read that having Knox tripped blocks modem updates, which you would of tripped Knox by flashing CyanogenMod.

The obvious thing to do is to download the official BNL7 rom flash it via Odin using a PC and your then have the BNL7 bootloader and modem, flash a custom recovery+ temasek rom. Job done!

Downgrade Impossible (I9500 Folks) Help

After flashing 4.3 leak on my I9500 using Odin 3.09, it doesn't boot up as it should, I have wiped data/cache, but to no avail. I even flashed the Russian official 4.3 firmware, but it just doesn't boot up as it should.
When I turn on the phone, the phone stops right after the "Galaxy S4 I9500," screen. I see a black screen right after that.
I tried to downgrade my phone using Odin 3.09, 3.07 and 3.04, but it keeps failing. My S4 shows "unsupported version," when I try to flash stock 4.2.2.
I am guessing this is probably happening because of the newer bootloader, the newer bootloader is making it impossible to downgrade to an older version.

ok try this first use the cf root provided in the cf root thread and then dload the latest 4.2.2 http://samsung-updates.com/details/14135/Galaxy_S_4_Exynos_Octa/GT-I9500/XFE/I9500XXUBMH1.html from here and flash it see what happens
Solved.
The problem was that I didn't flash the stock rom that came with my phone. I flashed that and my phone was restored to its factory settings. However my imei was messed up, it was showing me 0049. I rooted, flashed twrp recovery and used twrp to restore from a backup and I got my imei back along with my data.
I will wait for 4.3 to become flashable and see how it goes then.

[Q] Cannot flash i9505...no boot loader

Hello,
I have an unsuccessful firmware update.
First flashed the last stock rom, cf-autoroot. After it I try to flash the CWM, and this is the end,
Now there is no boot loader, no recovery. I see the "Firmware update encountered an issue...".
The knox is 0x1, Writeprotect enabled.
The only thing is working on the phone is the download mode, but every attempt to flash in Odin fails. (aboot.mng..Fail)
I tried to flash another bootloaders, repartition with pit file, but not works...
Done it on other PC, usb ports...
Now I know what was the wrong with the installation, but I need a solution for this situation.
Please, help me...
You will have to flash through ODIN Kit Kat. You cant come back to 4.3 or 4.2.2 if ya flashed android 4.4.2 and u updated the bootloader. Select one android 4.4.2 firmware in SamMobile for you and update ur phone :highfive:
Thanks for the reply...
The last firmware I flashed was 4.3, and I cannot reflash it.
But I will try a Kit Kat, which one is good for me? I have an unlocked phone and my country (Hungary) does not have it yet.
Can I flash it with knox 0x1?
Thanks for the advice, the phone is working now....
The whole story:
- the phone had 4.3 custom ROM before.
- I flashed the new version with 4.4.2: new recovery, modem and ROM.
- From here I had no sound. I tried to flash everything 3 times, an no sound.
- I searched for this, threre were many good advice, I tried some and the phone not booted.
- Downloaded the latest Samsung firmware (I9505XXUEMKF_I9505OXXEMK3_I9505XXUEMKF), flashed and no sound.
- extracted the modem.bin, flashed, and flashad the ROM again, sound is good, I was very happy.
- CF-autoroot, I saw it was working
- Flashed the CWM recovery, Fail in Odin and...no boot, no recovery, only download mode.
- Flashing the original downloaded firmware (I9505XXUEMKF_I9505OXXEMK3_I9505XXUEMKF) is failed. I don't understand, it is not downgrade...
- Flashing a new Kit Kat (I9505XXUFNB9_I9505EURFNB1_I9505XXUFNB9) was successful.
How can I use a custom ROM again?
I am afraid, if I make an error, cannot flash again the same, I have to wait a new one?

[Q] Help me problems with the TW Lolipop Modem and Bootloader

Hello guys, I need urgent help and i think others who are using the same Bootloader and Modem as well as they flashed the (N9005XXUGBNL8) 5.0 Lolipop firmware and fail to update the old bootloader and modem (N9005XXUENA6) 4.4.2 Kitkat using Odin3 v3.10. I've tried every single Odin versions and I followed the steps correctly. As i flash my Note 3 using Odin3 v3.10, it pass and boot as usual but when i check my About Phone in the settings, the Baseband remains the same. Even when i check the Phone Info, Its modem and bootloader is still the old 4.4.2 Kitkat. So how can I fix this? Or do i just flash an old 4.4.2 Rom back to its Original state before Lolipop? I really did tried all the stuffs i know from the web. Please get back to me if anyone can solve this problem. Because im stuck here with a 5.0 Lolipop installed to my phone but my modem and bootloader is 4.2.2 Kitkat. I even tried maually flashing the modem 4 times using Odin but still no luck. Problems since lollipop DOC4 (SM-N900w8)

I have a SM-N900W8 canadian note 3. I just installed new DOC4 lollipop rom via odin. I did clean install by wiping data. I root with CF-Root and flash latest TWRP. Everything seems to work perfectly until i try to made some small mod to add datamobile button in quicksettings using this thread. : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342370
After it boots up to a black screen and a pop up shows up for nearly all of my apps that says they are not responding so all I get is that and a black screen. I reflash the rom via odin without wiping my data, re-root and everything went back fine and my mod works. ???!! I now have my datamobile button.
Later, i made a nandroid backup with TWRP. After reboot i got the same errors.... So i Reflash-rom, re-root, everything back to normal.
TO make a short story, everytime i access recovery or flash something in recovery or modify my system partition i got this errors....
I suspect having partition mismatched ... i don't know...
Any idea ???
Any help appreciated...
Which version of TWRP did you use? As far as I know, the latest only supports up to kitkat (4.4)
Maybe this is what causes your problems?
That's what i thought, I'm using the latest one (2.8.6.0). I ask other users in another thread and they said this version is working flawlessly with lollipop...
I have the same phone, and I flashed lollipop DOC4 using Odin yesterday, with CF-auto-root and TWRP 2.8.6.0.
I just tried (litterally minutes ago) adding the data toggle, and it worked, but I could not reproduce your problem.
Which version of TWRP did you use? The hltecan one or the hltexx?

1. Are you sure you installed correct TWRP? The correct one for your device: HERE.
2. Seems that mod for datamobile button doesn't work for your device. Reflash rom, re-root and don't install that mod. Try that update firmware for some days and tell me how it works :highfive:
I used HLTECAN 2.8.6.0. When i was on 4.4.2 NB7, i was using the same file and i had not problems at all. If you re-read my first post, i said my data toggle is working fine now but i needed to re-flash the entire rom without wiping data to get rid of the many apps errors. I guess i need to reflash everything from scratch... Will use another USB wire and another USB port. Maybe it'll help... Or maybe i should try another root method ??? I used CF-Root for SM-n900w8...
I suggest trying with hltexx, since it is the version I used, and I encountered no problem at all so far.
Let's check for any other difference between devices. I got :
Baseband N900W8VLUBMJ4
Bootloader N900W8UBUCNA2
PDA Version N900W8VLU2DOC4
CSC Version N900W8OYADOC4
Stock Kernel
how do you root n900w8 lollipop rom ?

Hi, can I root N900W8 running N900W8UBU2DOG2 firmware from region TTT with twrp? If not is there any other method I can use to root my device ?

Unable to update modem/bootloader to prep for OD2 update.

"Software" and baseband/modem are OA3, bootloader is NC6. I'm attempting to update modem and bootloader to OD2 in preparation to flash Wicked ROM.
Every time I ODIN the modem and the bootloader, nothing changes. The version numbers stay the same. I did find the OA3->OD2 zip, do I just need to flash that then flash the Wicked ROM?

Just flash the latest full stock from http://www.sammobile.com
It's easier and safer than just trying to update modem and/or bootloader
I tried that a few months ago and ended up with a buggy install where Wifi wouldn't work and several apps kept force closing.

Sounds like bad download, it's the exact same as if you bought your device directly from Samsung
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint/general/rom-100-stock-l720tod2-5-0-1-t3113888
That's the ROM I attempted to use.
