Idk if this was ever talked about but I want to know.... Has anyone ever thought about a way to fix the front facing camera image? you know, it shows everything backwards or reversed?
mine's working fine never noticed anything flipped
I never noticed it until someone mentioned it here. So I checked it, and sure enough, everything is reversed.
Just like a webcam. Shows YOU as others would see you. The right side of your face would be on the left side if you were facing yourself.
But if you take a pic, it should not be backwards.
And why wouldn't it be? it's taking a snap of what you see on the screen.
Remember, the front was designed as a video chat device, hence the "reversed" image, not for taking snapshots of you and other things.
You have a better camera for that which behaves as it should.
Front cam functions as designed.

That makes no sense.
EDIT: read up on it.
Compusmurf is clueless. The front camera in reverse is for easy centering of your own face - it behaves like a mirror.

That's where you're wrong... what you see from the front camera is a MIRROR image. NOT what others would see if they are looking at you. And for the record, most webcam applications allow you to switch between mirror image or "normal".
So in other words, there's no fix currently
as others would see you? easier for centering?
What you meant was, as other people would see you if they were looking at you in their rear view mirror, or in another mirror, not how they would normally see you. Im wondering if you guys have ever used a web cam. Ive been using them since they hit the market long ago and ive never seen a mirrored image of someone unless they flipped it with their cam software. And having the image reversed doesn't make it any easier to center yourself either lol. Good try guys. Its a setting in the camera config once you switch to the front facing camera on the thunderbolt.
hello! it's just me in the camera does not allow me to focus in the whole left side of the screen? I'll explain when I press to focus on the entire central and right out the circle of focus come and so the image is focused, while on the left, across the strip below the key settings, if I press does nothing and the circle of focus doesen't appear.I have deleted the cache of the camera and does the same problem, while other cameras like the google cam work correctly .I haven't problem to touch because it works well on any app and also in test mode. it's the same for all the note 4? also you have this problem? How i can solve it?
sorry for my veeery bad english
No one?
It seems that you can only touch to focus in the center and just beyond the center of the frame - not near those buttons. This appears very much by design, and I'm sure Sammy wanted to avoid people accidently pressing buttons when they wanted to refocus - if you need to focus on something on the edge of the screen, bring the object to the middle of your viewfinder, press and hold (to lock focus) and re-frame the shot.
Glad I'm not alone with focusing problems...
Here is my topic : Note 4 camera won't lock focus + blurry edges on pictures with far focus
Best regards,
Chris.
[I searched for this on the forums -- apologies if it's already been answered.]
I'm photographing/videoing through a kaleidoscope. Beautiful results with fixed shooting, but a problem when moving the phone. I made a small rig for the phone and a prismatic kaleidoscope (one with a glass element at the end), so that it's locked in place directly in front of the rear lens, and is completely rigid with respect to the phone -- no relative movement. (In other words, the phone and scope are part of a fixed unit.) THEN... when I hold the rig, and point it around the room, the image seems to lag slightly behind the movement, almost as if there's an inertia in the filming. (For example: start off motionless -- wonderful picture. Then move the camera upwards -- the image shifts up, but when I stop moving the phone, the image then continues moving slightly. It's always in the same direction as the original direction of movement.
I notice this with the camera mode too: hold it still in your hands, and then move it smoothly upwards. When you stop moving, the image keeps moving a little longer.
Is this some kind of damping on the camera, to stop jerky movements? Is there a way to turn it off? It makes locked-off filming of the kaleidoscope image almost impossible (or at least, it looks pretty poor, as though it were hand-held).
If anyone has any ideas / solutions, I'd be grateful; in every other respect the filming on the camera is superb.
Peter
Update -- a weird parallax effect (without the parallax)!
Hi --
Looking into this in more detail... here's an experiment to try. And if you can explain why it happens, I'll be impressed.
Hold the phone up, in camera mode, pointing at a distant wall, say, and hold a pencil to one side of the phone so that it partly sticks into the shot. (Angle the pencil so that it's pointing away from you, then try to focus on its tip.) With grid lines turned on, and keeping the pencil as still as possible, relative to the phone, move the phone gently from side to side.
The pencil MOVES relative to the gridlines, swaying back and forth (and up and down too if you move vertically), even though you aren't changing the position of the pencil relative to the camera by one millimetre!!!
What is going on? Why is the camera software (it has to be in software) doing this?
(I have a video of this to which I can post a link, if people don't believe me!)
I doubt there's a solution to the effect, but I'm intrigued to know why it happens (and immensely frustrated).
AND I've just discovered that it doesn't happen on a colleague's S5 !! did Samsung change the way in which the software works?
Peter
i believe this is the OIS feature of the camera. I don't know if it can be disabled though
When I click on the screen to change focus point, it's always ~1cm away from what I click...
its,just right for me,Hope it helps u
changed to front camera and back to back, problem gone.
When I take a picture and view it in the gallery, it's oriented normally -- the direction the picture was taken -- but when I send the pic as an SMS, the orientation is flipped. I've searched Google but haven't found anyone having this issue with the S8. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!!
No one else has this issue??
Just downloaded S8 pictures for the first time and all are upside down. I did some checking and found if picture is taken with button on left side they download upside down . Button on right is fine.

I haven't noticed this or came across this issue is probably because I take a photo with the button on the right side.
Strange. I didn't know having the button on a particular side mattered as the actual pictures don't seem to be upside down. Sending them (as MMS, email, etc) is when they are upside down.
Thanks for the input.
Has this been resolved. It just started happening for me. My wife sent a photo and it was upside down. I sent her 4 photos and 2 were upside down and 2 were correct. I have an 8+ and she has an 8. I took the photos landscape with the button on the right. Freak'n weird.

I have the S9+ and the same thing happens, some are upside down, some rotated left or right and some are fine
