[Q] Still no 5.0 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there everyone!
I've a Nexus 4 (unlocked - not bought with subscription) and I'm still on Android 4.4 Kitkat..
Now I see some users here with already 5.0.1... Why is it that I dont have 5.0.0? Is it because I bought it unlocked (I thought the opposite: when you're unlocked you get the OTA faster..) or is there something wrong with pushing the OTA in the Netherlands?
Im not a telephone geekie so I dont want to root it / flash 5.0.1 on it because I'm hella-afraid my phone will be bricked then!
I hope there's something I can do to push the OTA to my phone (like clearing Google Frameworks? i read somewhere?)
greetings demaax

Listen if you're unlocked head over to Google developers and take the factory image for your device from there.. Clean flash or dirty flash it is up to you

Well I think you mean with ''unlocked'' that ive a unlocked bootloader etc?? I meant with unlocked that I didnt close a contract with a provider to buy my nexus 4 + subscription... I just bought it for €400 at mediamarkt

Dude you bought a nexus 4 for 400 euros??

Yup, when it was released in 2012 it costed about ~450€ in the Netherlands with no contract ^^. I got a cheap contract of €10/month

Mate I suggest you not to upgrade : lollipop brings a lot of bug, and latest version, 5.0.1, breaks also phone calls audio.
Stick to android 4 until it gets fixed! See

Until dev get their hands on the LTE version you have to live with it. I'm sure the Korean Note 2 works on all bands except USA if that's what you're asking.

I thought Korea version SHV-E250s have supports different bandwidths, will it support the 3G and 4G EE in UK though~~~
you can root the E250S by flashing recovery.img found in these forums in odin
DO NOT flash boot.img that is sometimes also in the odin tar file or you will not be able to boot into android or recovery.
(although to fix simply flash the stock boot.img back)
source: I rooted mine
(32GB version, LTE)
Thread open until verified...Thank You.
Any pic to proof? I assume this will work for N7105 too... Care to explain step by step tutorial?

This will work for E250K? I suspect that it should right?
Any progress on rooting the Korean Note 2? How many people on this forum have a Korean Note 2? Mine is the E250L (LG telecom)
I have the SHV-E250L (LG U+) and I going to try to stay unrooted.
This info only applies if you are in Korea but with my last Korean Galaxy phone, I took it to the A/S center to get a broken earphone replaced, and they tapped into my phone for 20 minutes trying to prove that it was rooted so they can deny me a free replacement. I know that is just bad luck with the service staff that day. But once they verified that it wasn't rooted, they gave me new earphones. To avoid that kind of hassle because the service at least for the first year is great (free shattered screen replacements while you wait and such), I think try to keep it unrooted for as long as possible. Let's see how long I can hold out...
Most of the reasons I rooted and put roms in the past was to gain access like wifi tethering, better battery life, and better functionality, but none of those are issues with this device. Wifi tethering is enabled without restrictions out of the box and without extra charge.

As mentioned earlier, I flashing the recovery. IMG should work as that's not related to baseband.

Some questions about this device
Hi All,
Since this seems to be the only GN2 version available with 32gb internal storage, I am feeling a strong temptation to buy it. However, I do have some concerns I am hoping you owners can address:
1) Is the DMB antenna obvious? I looked at the Samsung Korea site, and most of the photos don't show it. Does it retract or detach in some way? I know I won't be able to use it in the US so am hoping it will be easy to forget about.
2) Does it have a FM radio receiver like the international version?
3) Is the user experience the same as the international version if English is selected as the default language?
Ideally I would like to eventually be able to flash an international rom into the device, but I know that's not possible now. Are any of the current owners expert enough to offer an educated guess as to whether it will be possible in the future?
Thanks for your help and advice.

Phone call problem. Brand new Nexus 4. NEED HELP :(

Hi guys,
I recently bought the nexus 4 (4.2.2 , Baseband : .48) but like some others i am having problems with phone calls. I can receive and make them but cannot hear anything when i do (a dial or voices). Skype,Viber etc works no problem so it is just GSM calls. My sim card works in other phones perfectly. Other peoples sim cards do not work in my phone, so it is not my sim or carrier and must be the phone.
So now i want to downgrade to 4.2.1 in the hope it will fix whatever the problem is. I was hoping someone could help me with the most basic straight forward solution. I have nothing on the phone as it is brand new, so backing up data doesn't matter. All i want to do is put 4.2.1 on it.
I have a mac.
Thanks in advance
Before downgrading go to settings > Apps > All > Phone > clear cache and clear data. See if that fixes it.

Nothing will help either change the phone or try other carriers.
I have been facing this problem and tried everything, sadly i am in india and bought the phone from US.
You can give a try to .33 radio and there is a fix in original android development forum by name Fix for no in call audio.
That didnt work for me, try if it works for you and also let me know as well.

You already unlocked the boot loader and installed a recovery..so therefore your phone has already voided the warranty. lol.
You need the .48 baseband nevertheless. That baseband comes with the 4.2.2 update.

Warranty isn't voided. Does it say its voided when you unlock the bootloader? Yeah. but in reality, it really isn't.
If anything, you can always fastboot flash back to stock and relock the bootloader.
If you were on a HTC device and you unlocked your bootloader via HTCDev..... then yes your bootloader voided your warranty but since this is a Nexus device. There is no way for them to know that you did lock your bootloader.
I honestly think its a software problem and has nothing to do with the phone itself.

Just tried .54 . No good either. This is so frustrating. I've tried flashing the system and boot img now too I live in Ireland and bought the phone from America so returning isn't an option anymore either
EDIT ** Just done adb sideload and put 4.2.2 back on to my nexus in a hope that might fix it but it didnt.

Sim unlock nexus 6p

How can I unlock the phone so I can use any sim. My phone is currently locked to a network and I want to use a different one.
The nexus 6p should already come factory unlocked
Seriously, OP?
Honestly. How can this even be asked...? A Nexus doesn't get sim locked to anything, ever. Not even CDMA carriers.
Take the sim card out, put the new one in - if your carrier requires IMEI pairing to the sim, call them and activate it - but it's NOT locked, never was, no matter what you were told.
Mines sim locked to ee UK. Due to me buying it on a carrier. Tried my 3 sim and it asks for the unlock code.
Bump. I'm in exactly the same boat, I've had nexus phones before, but this one is bought in store from ee, and asks for a sim unlock code with any non-ee sim. I'm wondering if flashing factory images will remove it? It was £50 cheaper than elsewhere, there is an £8.99 unlock option from ee, but I'd rather not have to wait.
how did ONE company get google to allow them to SIM lock a nexus?
a company Ive never heard of, no less
EE is everything everywhere, aka orange and T-Mobile became EE

But to be honest, I bought mine from o2 and its sim unlocked. So not sure why EE have done that as it kinda goes against the grain of what a nexus device is.

I was pretty surprised to be honest. The girl in the ee store tried to tell me it was, but I didn't believe her because nexus. They don't even list it for sale on PAYG on their website, got a 32gb for £410 though, so even if I have to pay their unlock fee its still a win. Might try a factory image flash and see if that helps.
Softbank locks the 6p too in japan
This is why you always buy your phones directly from Google!
As an American, I apologize to the rest of the world for my fellow Americans that things are not the same around the world.
To my fellow Americans:
6P is SIM locked in many countries.
Google does not sell directly to consumer in many countries.
EE is a HUGE telecom company over the pond.
Please don't assume that just because us Americans are accustomed to things one way, that the rest of the world experiences it the same way.
In regards to the 3 network, I heard a rumour that only 3 sim cards will work on phones with their own phones and firmware.
This was true when I sold my old S3 unlocked to a guy that was on 3. I had to install 3 firmware before I could part with the phone.
I am over the moon with my 6P. It is great but I would like to get it unlocked and rooted for numerous reasons. Great bit of kit.

I found a way to unlock the bootloader and get root access!
First, uninstall all uninstallable bloatware. Next force stop SIM ToolKit. Immediately reboot to fastboot mode via terminal.
Next flash the stock rom using this method:
fastboot flash bootloader C:\angler\images\bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio C:\angler\images\radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot C:\angler\images\boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash cache C:\angler\images\cache.img
fastboot flash recovery C:\angler\images\recovery.img
fastboot flash system C:\angler\images\system.img
fastboot flash vendor C:\angler\images\vendor.img
See post 2

I'm rooted using this method. I haven't tried a custom rom, but I have installed TWRP and have restored apps via Titanium Backup

sorry friend, you picked one of the worst development phones. nothing yet. Im hoping someday but its not looking great. My advice, find someone to trade their Tmobile note 4 for your VZW one. Thats what Im trying to do
ebay rooted ones?
I thought Tmobile note 4 wouldn't work on VZW? with custom ROM?
Saw some rooted Verizon Note 4 on eBay. I wonder if those were rooted before VZW locked the bootloader.
Would I be stuck with 4.4.4 if I get those?

The bootloader has always been locked, since day one. If they're rooted, they are development edition phones. There never has been root for this phone, and the bootloader has been locked down since day one.
